7- Promise
*Two days before the expedition*
(F/n)'s POV
"Well guys, the expedition is almost here." I sighed. "Yeah." Petra replied in a sad tone. "A good friend told me not to worry about it too much." I grinned, trying to lighten the mood. "Who?" She asked. "You, silly!" I giggled with Petra.
"Oh, right." She chuckled. "We better get to bed, training starts pretty early." Eld said, standing up from his chair. We all nodded and followed him outside of the mess hall, going to our dorms now.
Levi's POV
It was late at night and I was doing some last minute paperwork. It was the same old pattern, read the paper, sign my name, stamp it, repeat. It is boring, but I kind of got used to it.
While I was in the middle of signing my name, I heard a horrific scream of bloody murder. The scream actually startled me, causing my hand that was holding the pen to slide across the page.
Dammit.
I shook my head, not caring about the ruined paper anymore, and ran towards the door. As soon as I got out of my office, I froze still, staring at the dark hallway in front of me.
"Holy..shit." I whispered, eyes widening. On the walls and floor, in front of me, had blood splattered everywhere. I covered my mouth, trying not to get sick.
Then out of nowhere, I heard another unfamiliar scream which snapped me back to reality.
Whose scream is that?
I've never heard this scream before, so it would be difficult to guess who.
I ran down the halls, listening to the screaming that was now quietly fading. I rounded a corner and stood face to face with a closet door. I hesitantly walked up to it and brought my hand to the knob.
Opening the door ajar, quietly, I peaked inside and saw a tall dark figure standing over a smaller figure on the ground. There were cries of pleads and whatever the taller figure was doing, it wouldn't stop.
I leaned in further, but ended up falling inside the large closet.
Shit, this is the end of me!
Looking up again, I saw the tall dark figure looking at me now. It had an evil smile but I couldn't see anything else on it's face.
I sat up from the floor and scooted back against the wall, watching the figure slowly turn around to look at me. Once it turned all the way around, it stepped to the side so I could see the smaller figure on the floor.
"No..." I gasped, not wanting to see the sight anymore. (F/n) lied on the cold wooden floor, not moving whatsoever. Blood covered her from head to toe. Her eyes were slightly opened along with her mouth.
"What did you do to her?!" I shouted. The figure didn't respond at all. Instead it picked up a large butcher knife from it's belt. My eyes narrowed at the weapon in it's hand.
Before I knew it, I saw it throw the knife down at her. "NO!!!" I screamed.
"Captain?"
"Captain Levi?"
"Sir!"
"Ah, fuck." I muttered under my breath. I opened my eyes and met a bright room. "Where the hell am I?" I asked the voice. "In your office, sir." They replied.
"Wait, where's (f/n)?! Is she okay?!" I nearly shouted, looking at the person who happened to be Petra. "She's fine. She's outside training, captain." Petra replied.
Damn, was that a nightmare?
"Alright." I whispered, getting up from my desk chair, where several cracks from my back were heard. It was not comfortable sleeping on that thing.
"What are you doing in here anyway?" I asked her, grabbing the paperwork from my desk. "We haven't seen you today, so I came to find you." She replied. I looked over at the clock on my wall.
It's eight in the morning?!
"Shit, why didn't someone come sooner?!" I muttered to myself.
First of all, I can't believe I actually slept for more than three hours!
I was supposed to return this paperwork to Erwin at six, too late for that now!
(F/n)'s POV
"Has anyone seen corporal yet?" Oluo asked. "Nope, but I can go check." Petra spoke up. I nodded, watching her go back inside of HQ to look for the missing midget.
Time Skip
Petra came back outside, but without Levi. "Still couldn't find him?" I asked. "No, I found him." She replied. "Then where was he?" Eld asked. "In his office, passed out on his desk." She snickered.
"Levi, sleeping? But he has insomnia." I furrowed my brows. "Hm, interesting. But (f/n), he was asking where you were and if you were okay. He seemed worried, are you sure there's nothing more going on between the both of you?" Everyone looked at me with confusion.
"We're just friends. How many times do I have to tell you guys that? I don't know why he would ask where I was or if I was okay, though." I shrugged. We heard footsteps approaching us so we all looked over and saw Levi.
He walked over to me and immediately grabbed my arm, dragging me along with him. "Where are we going?" I asked him. "Tch." Was all he said.
We ended up in the stables and Levi still wouldn't tell me what was going on. "Levi, would you tell me what's wrong?" I asked him as he wouldn't let go of my arm.
There was a moment of silence. I sighed, slowly shutting my eyes. But as my eyes were shut, I felt warmth. Carefully opening my eyes again, I saw Levi hugging me?
I hesitantly gave in, wrapping my arms around him as well. "Promise you won't leave me." He whispered in my ear. "I promise." I whispered back. "I can't lose you again. Not on the expedition. Not before or after the expedition. Not ever." He added, pulling back to look me in the eyes.
"I won't leave you, ever." I grinned. "Hey, why are you so nervous for my well being?" I asked him. "...J-just.., I had...never m-mind." Levi quickly walked away, leaving me to ponder.
Weird, he never stutters.
I walked out of the stables and back to the training grounds where my squad was. "What did corporal need?" Gunther asked me when I returned.
"He just wanted to talk to me about the expedition." I lied. They didn't need to know the real reason why, even if that's a little rude. Still, I wouldn't want to be talking about Levi behind his back.
Time Skip
As I was getting ready for bed, Petra spoke up. "(F/n)...c-can I tell you something?" She asked. "Yeah, what it is?" I replied, continuing to brush my hair while I looked out the window.
"I-if I die on the expedition tomorrow, can you tell Levi something?" I paused for a moment, my back still facing her. "Sure." I responded.
"T-tell Levi...that I...l-love him." She stuttered. I froze in place.
She loves him?
"...(F/n)?" "Yeah...sorry, I'll tell him." I hesitantly replied, turning around to look at her and gave her a small smile.
"Thanks, (f/n). You're a great friend." She smiled back. My smile turned into a sad one as I turned back around to face the window.
Does he love her back?

Sorry I haven't updated in awhile, I've been really busy and didn't have many ideas for this chapter.
And again, sorry I keep saying I'll make the next chapter longer when I actually don't do it. I'm trying to motivate myself to write more of this story but I just can't due to lack of ideas.
❤️Peace❤️
