3- Training

(F/n)'s POV

After eating breakfast, I went outside with squad Levi to train. I'm basically practicing my training for the test to see which squad I'll get put in at the end of the week.

"So who am I going to train with?" I asked them when we got to the training grounds. "I would say me, but I want to see how strong you are first." Levi replied. "I'll train with you." Gunther volunteered.

"Okay." I smiled. We walked over to an open area and got into our fighting stances. "You ready?" He asked. "Yep." I responded.

Gunther made the first move by charging at me. I stood still in my stance until he was about two feet away from me. From there, I quickly ducked down and ran under his legs so I was behind him.

I stood upright again and jumped on his back, making him fall to the ground. He threw me off his back and stood up while I landed on the ground. He brought up his fist, getting ready to punch me in the face.

As his fist swung down, I quickly rolled to side and he punched the ground. He winced at the pain but soon recovered before I kicked his legs with mine, knocking him over.

I swiftly pinned him down yelling, "I win!" "Nice job." He replied as I helped him up. "Thanks." I smiled, now looking over at Levi. "Good job, brat." "Thank you, Levi." I replied.

"Time to go up against me since you seem strong enough."

Does he not remember we would practice hand-to-hand combat when we were younger? Of course I'm strong enough!

We both got into our stances and circled each other for awhile. I decided to make the first move by lunging at him. Once I was close enough, I tried throwing a punch at his shoulder.

Levi was quick enough to step to the side and grab my arm, flipping me over on to my back. While on the ground, Levi tried to pin me down but I grabbed his shoulders and pulled him down as well.

Before he fell on me, I rolled over so he would hit the ground. He looked a little surprised by this but went back to his usual bored expression quickly. Then he used his legs to kick me off of him.

I fell on my back again and he got up before I could and rolled me over so I was lying on my stomach. Levi kneeled down, putting a knee on my back as he held both my arms down.

"You did better than I thought. And you lasted longer then any other cadet that's faced me before." He said, helping me up from the ground. "Why thank you, twinkle toes." I smirked.

Levi's eyes widened a little as his squad stared at us with disbelief. "W-what did you just call me?" He muttered.

Don't you remember?

Flashback

Levi was off cleaning the living room..again. I was over at the abandoned house they stayed in and Levi wouldn't quit cleaning. "The room looks fine, you don't have to clean it over and over again!"

"It may look 'fine' to you, but to me, it's still crawling with bacteria everywhere." He replied, dusting the shit out of a bookshelf. I sighed, giving up on trying to stop him.

"Guys, look what I got!" We heard Isabel squeak with delight, running inside the house. "What is it?" I asked, seeing her holding a small paper bag.

"I got....GLITTER!" She shouted, opening up the paper bag. "And I also got glue so I could stick it something!" She added, setting the glue down on the kitchen table.

"Like what?" Farlan asked. "Hmm..I'm not sure yet." Isabel replied. As Isabel was trying to open the small glitter tube, her elbow knocked over the glue bottle which fell and broke.

However, Levi was walking right passed her when the glue bottle fell and the glue got all over his boots. As Levi was ranting about the mess, Isabel decided to clean off his shoes.

But she dropped the glitter tube and I bet you know where THAT landed. Right on top of Levi's boots. We all started laughing, besides Levi, at the pink glitter stuck to his shoes now.

"Twinkle toes! You're now twinkle toes!" I laughed. "Shut up!" Levi shouted, running for the bathroom to clean up his now pink boots.

Flashback End

"I called you twinkle toes!" I laughed. "I told you not to call me that!" He whispered. "Twinkle toes? Where do you get a nickname like that, corporal?!" Petra giggled.

After I told his squad the story, Levi was hiding his face behind his hands from embarrassment. Soon enough everyone was laughing now, but obviously not Levi.

"I'm so going to kill you later." Levi frowned at me. "Only on my second day? My goodness!" I gasped before laughing again. "Tch." And he left to go back inside.

"Did corporal act differently before he joined the military?" Eld asked me. "Well, not really. Just a little. He wasn't as grouchy most of the time." I answered and they all nodded.

"Oi, brats! Get back to training." We heard Levi shout. "Time for 3DMG training." Oluo sighed. We all went to the forest so we could practice our 3DMG skills.

After I got hooked up, Levi came back out after I embarrassed him. "Alright (nickname), show me what you got." Levi said in a bored tone as usual. "Aye, aye, captain!" I saluted.

"Tch. Just get on with it. I want you to 'kill' as many Titan dummies as you can in under ten minutes." He replied. I nodded, shooting my anchors into a nearby tear.

After landing on the branch, I surveyed the area for any makeshift Titans. I finally spotted one off in the distance. Jumping off of the branch and shooting my anchors into another tree, I maneuvered my way over to the wooden Titan.

I used the controllers and got out two blades from my 3DMG. I switched how I was holding them to how Levi holds them. Levi taught me everything I know about the 3DMG and swords. He also said this was a better way to hold them.

I zipped past the fake Titan and cut through the leather padding on the back of it's neck. While I was maneuvering away, I looked back to see how the cut looked.

Not deep enough.

I landed on another tree branch, looking around for more Titan dummies. I spotted one so I jumped off the branch and maneuvered around the forest again.

Time Skip

And that makes eighteen.

I counted the last fake Titan I 'killed'. "Alright brat, your time is up." I heard Levi shout from the other side of the forest. I hurriedly got back to the entrance of the forest where he was waiting.

"How many did you get?" He asked once I walked over to him. "Only eighteen." I answered. "Not bad. But you could have done better." He replied. "I know, sorry."

"That's all for training today. After lunch you have to get yourself a horse." He said before walking back to HQ. I also went back inside so I could put my 3DMG away before eating.

*Lunch*

As usual, I sat at squad Levi's table since they were basically the only people I knew here besides the squad leaders and commander. "Hi, (f/n)!" Petra greeted.

"Hey." I replied with a small smile. "So how was your first official day?" Eld asked. "So far so good." I replied, then eating my bread and soup. "When one of you brats are done eating, mind taking (f/n) to the stables to get her a horse?" Levi asked.

"Sure, I can do it, captain." Gunther piped in.

I can't get over how nice Gunther is to take time out of his day to help me..

"Good." Levi replied before walking away.

After eating, Gunther and I put our dishes away before going out to the stables. "Here's all of the horses without an owner." Gunther pointed to a side of the stables with a few horses.

One in particular stood out to me. It was a (mare/stallion) that had a beautiful (color) coat and a silky (color) mane and tail. I slowly and carefully walked up to the horse and held out my hand for it to sniff.

At first, (she/he) seemed to be frightened but quickly got comfortable and got a bit closer to me. "Wow, (she's/he's) the shyest one here! I'm surprised (she/he) got that comfortable with you so fast!" Gunther exclaimed.

"Really? Hm. Maybe I'm just the horse whisperer." I giggled. "Maybe." Gunther chuckled. "What should I call you?" I quietly asked the horse. "You kind of look like a (h/n)." (Horse's name) I said.

"Now that you have a horse, you'll have to move (her/him) to a new stall." Gunther said, opening the stall door for (h/n). I nodded, leading (h/n) out of (her/his) stall.

Once I got (h/n) to (her/his) new stall, I started to groom (her/him). "Need any help?" Gunther asked. "If you don't mind, then sure." I smiled. "So.." I started, trying to make a conversation.

"Tell me about yourself." I awkwardly asked. "What do you want to know?" He asked, continuing to brush through (h/n)'s tail. "Anything, I guess." I shrugged. "Hm.." He tried to think of something.

"I'm an only child and both of my parents are still alive. I lived in Wall Rose for most of my life, until I joined the military." "So what made you want to join the military?" I asked.

"My life was just so boring behind a wall. I wanted to explore beyond the walls and save humanity from the Titans so everyone else could see the outside world." He answered.

"What do you think you'd be doing right now if you weren't in the scouts?" I asked, brushing (h/n)'s mane. "I honestly don't know. I'd probably just be a regular hunter." He hesitated.

"Can you hand me that cloth behind you?" Gunther turned around, grabbing the cloth I was pointing to and held it out for me. "Thanks." I grinned, taking the cloth from him.

However, our hands brushed against each other and I could have sworn I saw Gunther's eyes widened. Using the cloth, I wiped off (h/n)'s hooves. We were all done grooming (her/him), so we headed back off to HQ.

"What else do we have to do today?" I looked up at Gunther as we entered the main hall of the scouts' headquarters.

"You can start by taking this paperwork to commander Erwin's office." I heard Levi say, walking over to me and shoving a stack of papers in my arms.

Just as I was about to make a comment, he walked away. "Oh yeah. I forgot to mention, corporal gives you quite a few chores on the first few days." Gunther said.

"But I'm not even in his squad, nor anyone's squad?" "Doesn't matter which squad you're in, he still does it." He replied. "Well then I guess I'll see you later." I sighed.

"Okay." Gunther smiled, walking down the hallway as I went in the other direction towards the commander's office.

Wow, why is Gunther so nice to me for no reason? Yeah, I'm new here, but still. I guess he's really friendly.

I made it to his office and managed to knock on the door somehow, even though my hands were full. "Who is it?" He asked from the other side. "Cadet (l/n), I bring paperwork from captain Levi." I replied.

"Come in." I balanced the stack of papers in one hand so I could open the door, which I thankfully didn't fail at. I set the papers down on his desk and before I could leave, I was stopped.

"Cadet, could you actually take this paperwork to him while you're here." He asked, pointing to another stack of papers. But this stack was smaller, so that meant it wouldn't stress Levi out a ton.

"Sure thing, commander." I smiled, taking the papers from his desk. "Thank you, cadet." He replied. I walked out of his office, going to Levi's now.

Am I just a personal messenger now?

I made it to Levi's office and knocked. "State your name and business." I heard him call out. "It's Jesus, here to forgive all of your sins!" I quietly giggled at the end.

"Go away Jesus, I'm busy!" He replied. I chuckled a little more before answering. "But Jesus brought you some holy paperwork from your commander!"

"Alright fine, come in Jesus." He sighed. I opened the door, laughing a little more as I walked over to Levi's desk. "Thanks, Jesus." "No problem!" I smiled before leaving his office.

Yep. Levi hasn't changed one bit.

I smiled to myself as I headed for my room.
