13- Worthless
(F/n)'s POV
I was walking down the dimly lit hallways, late at night. My eyes were bloodshot red with tear stained cheeks as I made my way to the front door of HQ.
My hair was a bit of a mess and my shirt was falling off my shoulder. I pulled my shirt back up as I quietly opened the door, slipping outside.
I tip toed down the small staircase and sat down on the bottom step, looking up at the dark night sky. I deeply inhaled and exhaled as I watched the stars.
While I kept a steady breathing pattern, I recalled the nightmare I had earlier.
"I can't believe how worthless you are! You're the worst one here! You're never on time and never satisfy me!" They screamed in my face.
"I-I'm sorry-"
"Don't you remember what I keep telling you? "Sorry" isn't going to get you anywhere, here. Just go kill yourself before I do!"
"...Pl...please...just...give me a second chance..." I weakly whispered.
I turned around, picking up a teacup from the tray on the table behind me. I poured another glass and as I was turning back around, I accidentally dropped the teacup in their lap.
"WHAT THE FUCKING HELL?!"
I flinched at the sudden change in volume of their voice.
"I'm sorry!" I begged, handing them a towel.
"Dammit!" They got up, grabbing my arm and dragging me across the room towards the fireplace.
"No! Please, no!" I screamed, a few tears rolling down my cheeks.
"SHUT UP, WILL YOU?!"
"OW, P-PLEASE!!! NO!"
When my memory ended, I realized some tears started to form in my eyes again. Soon enough, they spilled out. And as for my relaxed breathing, I was almost hyperventilating now.
"...W...why...d-did this...happen to...m-me?" I stuttered, hiding my face in my hands.
After a few minutes passed, when I calmed down a little, I crossed my arms over my chest to keep me warm.
It was actually quite cool out here and I was shivering. There was no one here to comfort me in my dreadful state.
Just like my prayer was answered, I heard the door behind me, open.
"Cadet?"
I heard a voice ask. It sounded very feminine. "What?" I asked. Looking over my shoulder, I saw Hanji hurrying down the steps to my side.
"(F/n)...? What's wrong?" I could see the worried expression on her face when she sat down next to me. "...I...it's nothing." I stuttered, wiping away the excess tears falling from my eyes.
"(F/n) please tell me. Are you sure you're okay?" She scooted closer, wrapping an arm around me for reassurance.
"It was just a dream I had." I muttered. "What happened?" I paused for a moment, not really wanting to relive those thoughts.
"Squad leader Hanji?"
We heard another voice ask from behind us.
We both turned around to see who it was.
And to our surprise it was...
Gunther.
"Yes, cadet? Why are you up at a time like this?" Hanji spoke up in the long awkward silence we had.
"Sorry, I was just taking a walk...and I heard voices out here."
"That's alright, Gunther." She smiled.
"Thanks-...hey...(f/n)? Is that you?" I turned around again and saw him coming down the steps.
Crap.
"What's wron-"
"Don't ask." I snapped, looking away.
"Sorry." He whispered.
"Gunther, do you mind staying out here with her? I have a lot of Titan research due tomorrow for Erwin. I can't be late on that!" I heard her quietly whisper to Gunther.
"Yeah, sure, it's no problem!" He replied, I bet with a smile too.
I felt Hanji's presence leave and Gunther's presence get closer to me.
"Come on, you should get some sleep." He spoke in a soft tone.
Sleep? That's the last thing I want to do!
I nodded in response, getting up with him. We went back up the steps, as he went ahead and held the door open for me. "Thanks." I mumbled, walking inside.
As we slowly walked down the halls, it was pure silence. I noticed he tried to grab my hand. So I moved my arm, acting like I was going to scratch the back of my neck.
Sorry Gunther. I just don't feel the same for you.
Finally we made it back to my room, without saying a word.
So far, so good.
And just my luck, Gunther said something before I could walk back into my room.
"Hey...are you okay? I'm sorry for asking, but I'm a bit worried."
"I'm fine, Gunther. You don't have to waste your time worrying about me." I answered without looking at him.
I looked over at him so I didn't seem too rude. "Goodnight." I mumbled, about to open my door.
"Wait-" He grabbed my wrist turning me around so I would face him with my body as well.
"What is it?" I furrowed my brows, starting to feel nervous.
"I...I just-..." He looked down. I guess he couldn't find the right words to say?
Then he looked back up, smirking. He placed both of his hands beside my head on the wall behind me.
"G...Gunt-" I got cut off by him pressing his lips on mine.
NO NO NO NO NO, DEAR GOD PLEASE HELP ME!
Since I was in mid-sentence, he was able to shove his tongue in my mouth. I tried pushing him away, but he grabbed my wrists and slammed them against the wall.
I winced at the pain. Then remembering how to get out of any physical situation involving a man.
How could I have forgotten what mother taught me?
Luckily he was at the perfect distance to do this. I raised my leg and kicked him where the sun doesn't shine. He finally released me and fell to the ground, in pain.
This was my chance to escape! I sprinted down the hall, no idea where I was going to hide at.
Then I saw Hanji's office up ahead. "Bingo!" I whispered to myself, heading towards her room.
I slowed down so I could open the door and get in. When I got there, I entered without knocking.
Shutting the door and locking it, I turned around to see a confused looking Hanji at her desk. "Sorry! Don't ask questions, I'll tell you in a few minutes." I quickly said, sitting on a chair since I was out of breath.
"Okay...?" She replied, going back to whatever she was doing.
