Lost and Found

"Jessy, when are you even coming? You said you'll be here by 4 p.m and now it's nearly 5," came Keya's voice from Jessy's phone which she had put on speaker mode.

"I know I know. I'm so sorry. Maa wasn't even letting me go to your place. It took a lot of time to convince her," Abhijishya said while hopping around to pull up her skinny jeans.

"Ugh, I've put on weight staying home for these last months. God knows when this wretched Corona will go away," Abhijishya whined.

Keya chuckled. "Yea. My mum was concerned regarding the seating arrangements for the national level entrance examinations. By the way, what were you doing when Sujit sir was dictating the Botany notes?"

"Ohhh come on don't be like that. You already know nah that I generally nap in his class. Its sooo boring," Abhijishya said and picked up the phone.

"Chal bye. I am getting out of the house. Will be there in 5 mins."

"K. Bye," the call disconnected.

"Maaaaa... Oh maaaa," Abhijishya hollered.

"Are baba stop shouting. I am coming," Jessy's maa said.

"Maa I told you earlier I needed to going to Kk's house to get the botany notes. I'll be back by 6," Abhijishya said while absentmindedly hugging her maa and putting her mask.

She jogged out.

"Be careful Abhu."Her maa said. "Krishna khyal rkhna ish larki ka." (May lord krishna take care of this girl)

Abhijishya was walking with a skip in her steps as she was excited to meet her bestie Keya after so many days even though her house was literally in the same neighbourhood.

She took a turn towards Keya's house when suddenly a shudder ran down her spine. She flinched and quickly turned out to see if anyone was watching her. Quite a few meters away three people seemed to be playing cards with money.

She recognised Suresh kaka who lived beside them and crinkled her nose in distaste. She didn't like gambling at all. Keya would say it was because she seemed to have a rotten luck since her school days. She would lose her money whenever she tried to win the school fete lottery. Well that might be 45% of the reason but she also dislikes it on principle. The fact that Yudhisthir playing the dice game resulted in disrobing and humiliation of Draupadi is the rest 50% of the reason.

She huffed and turned back towards her destination when she felt her phone vibrating in her pocket. She took it. Before she could even glance towards the screen, she felt like she was slammed by a bowling ball. Growls and snarls mixed with gibberish reached her ears but she couldn't make out anything of it.

The wind was knocked out of her as she fell on the ground. She glanced out frantically to find her attacker only to find no one. She felt something huge grasp her neck and she was lifted of the ground.

She tried to scream but all that came out was a strangled choke. Her eyes watered as she tried punching and kicking the invisible attacker off.

Next thing she knew was as if someone was pushing and pulling her in all directions at the same time. She realised she was probably dying. The faces of her parents, sister, Keya, Saurav, Hritesh and Ankita flashed too fast in her mind as she silently sent her apology for leaving them so suddenly.

She felt oddly lightweight. The sensation of falling consumed her. Then nothing.

================================

Prince Arjun along with his brother Nakul were carrying the wounded wild boar which he had struck with his arrow deep into the forest to set it free. Mistakenly it had wandered into the fields and had caused quite a havoc for the past 2 days

His eldest brother Yudhisthir was newly announced as the Yuvraj of the throne of Hastinapur. As soon as the news of the distress of the local farmers reached his ears, he sent Arjun and Nakul to remedy the problem.

Nakul was a passionate animal lover so Arjun couldn't simply kill the boar.

Arjun had injured it earlier to knock it unconscious and Nakul had patched it up.

They were walking in amiable silence when suddenly the ground started quaking and the winds started blowing very fast. There was lightening and thunder in the sky which had been clear a few moments ago.

"Bhrata, this does not look like any normal circumstance. Let us leave the boar here and return to out chariot. This feels like a sign of something," Nakul said while laying the boar carefully and cutting the ropes tying it's legs. It squealed and scurried away fast.

Arjun felt very unsettled as the branches of the trees swayed and the winds howled dangerously.

"Come on. Quick. Let's leave the forest or else any tree branch could break and hit us," Arjun said tightening his hold on his bow as he urged Nakul to quickly follow him.

The earthquake now became more intense and the power of thunder nearly defeaned their ears. Nakul dodged a tree branch. Various animals joined the howling winds with their loud cries.

Suddenly something caught Arjun's eyes.

"Nakul come this way. Fast," he urged as he broke into a sprint.

Something was falling fast from the sky. It got stuck into the branches of the tree. It tumbled down and landed before Arjun's feet. He skidded to an abrupt halt.

Nakul arrived beside his brother and gasped.

In front of them was a broken body of a woman. Arjun carefully turned the body to see the face.

Nakul crouched down and put two on the neck to feel the pulse. The woman was alive! His eyes widened at the alarmingly large cut on the forearm. The blood was spilling out quickly. He hastily tore a piece of his aangabastra and wrapped it around in an attempt to slow the bleeding.

"Bhrata we need to get her to the Rajvyada as soon as possible. Her breaths are shallow," Nakul said.

"Yes,yes. Here I'll carry her. You take my bow and lead me out of this forest."

As abrupt was the change in weather, it had gone back to normal once again in a moment's notice. As if nothing had happened before. Only the fallen branches and leaves were the only proof.

The princes hurried towards their chariot only to find it toppled over. Thankfully two horses were still there as they wanked at their ropes.

Nakul approached them and quickly calmed them down.

Arjun mounted a horse and Nakul helped settle the strange woman with his brother. Arjun used his aangbastra to tie the unconscious woman to his chest.

Nakul quickly mounted his horse and they both set out for Hastinapur Royal palace hoping they had not done any mistake bringing along this strange woman. But their sense of dharma and duty had outweighed their wariness easily.

================================

His eyes snapped open and his eyesbrows wrinkled in puzzlement. He got up from his resting position on his swing.

"Kanha? What happened? You look perplexed," Shree Balram asked.

"Kal chakra has been tampered with dau," Shree Krishna replied. His usual smiling face was serious.

He did not offer any further explaination. He went back to lying on his swing. This time he was seeking what had caused the disturbance.

Balram left Krishna to his rest though he too was concerned seeing Krishna like this. He went on to his duties. He was sure no matter what Krishma would help the world overcome any coming devastation as he has always done before.
