Meeting

For centuries, the Haruno clan has been used and sold for their powers. They aren't well known, but the ones that do know of them see them as the only ninja clan to be enslaved. Unfortunately, after the centuries of abuse most of them have died off. Now, there is only one survivor: Sakura Haruno.

The six-year old grew up in a secluded area; Raised by one of the most important people in the Black Market. Her parents had died shortly after her birth, killed for producing a female and not a male. The man who owned her was getting low on money and decided to train Sakura to be the perfect, obedient slave. The amount of money he would make off her would have him well enough off to last three lifetimes. He could by a small village if he so chose.

Today would be the day to auction her off. Papers in hand, we walked outside his lavish mansion toward the carriage. Around the carriage, men stood around protecting the product inside. He stepped inside and ordered them to begin their journey to Sunagakure.

"Ah, Lord Third, a pleasure to make you acquaintance. I have brought you many interesting objects one if which I'm sure you'll be very interested in. Of course all if my rare possessions come for a price, but I'm sure you'll be willing to pay once you see what I've got in store.", the owner greeted. The Third Kazekage watch with disinterest as the large man continued to gloat about his possessions with fever. His lavish jewels swayed in the wind.

"Very well. The auction will be held in a secret location. I will send someone to get you once it begins. I will be there as well to make sure everything goes smoothly. Have a good evening, I will see you later tonight.", he said dryly. The man let out a small smirk thinking about the amount if money he would make later.
------------------------------------------------------------------
"Ladies and gentlemen, I thank you for your patience. I hope you all have enjoyed the priceless items so far, but now.... it's time for my most prized possession: the last living Haruno!", he announced. At that moment, a cage containing the girl was rolled on to the stage. The crowd applauded politely and whispered amongst themselves. The Kazekage looked on with mild interest at the new information.

So this was his most prized possession.

"This little girl is quite a find, you see. Worth even more than the rarest jewels, highest bounty, or forbidden scrolls. She has natural light pink hair, fair skin with a touch of pink, and bright emerald eyes as you can see. She is already displined and extremely obedient. She knows basic cooking skills and can clean, also. Best of all: she is great at fighting. The young Haruno has recently turned seven years old and has an entire life to live in servitude of the highest bidder. Now, how about we start the bids at three-million yen?"

Hands began to fly in the air. Bids raised higher and higher, causing even the wealthiest people there to lower their hands in defeat. Many began to offer their previously auctioned merchandise. The little girl sat silently inside the cage, accepting of her fate. The man who owned her grew giddy as the prices raised through the roof.

"Six-hundered million yen."

Gasps were heard throughout the auction hall. No one could believe the cold-hearted Kazekage would participate in an auction, much less for a child.the murmurs returned with vigor. Even the Kazekage's brother-in-law couldn't believe what he was hearing. He was willing to buy a slave, a little girl no less. The act was unheard of and completely out if character.

Unless he has some kind of idea.

"Did you enjoy your lunch, Gaara?", Yashamaru asked. The red-headed boy smiled and nodded his head excitedly as he higher his teddy bear. Yashamaru gave Gaara a gentle smile. He loved his youngest nephew dearly and never liked seeing him in pain. As long as he lived, he swore to protect Gaara to the best of his abilities. After all, it was his elder sister's dying wish.

Yashamaru took the dirty dishes and placed them gently into the sink before turning towards Gaara once more. "Gaara, put in your shoes. Your father has requested to see you after lunch. He has a little bit of a surprise for you, okay."

"Father has a surprise? For me? I don't know, Uncle. Father doesn't like me. He loves Temari-nee and Kankuro-nii more. What if I do something to upset him? I don't want him to yell at me again. And-", Gaara protested. It was no secret that Gaara's father treated him differently from his other kids. He has a dangerous tailed beast the kills ruthlessly inside him. In a way, he's trying to toughen up his son. Let him know that in the real world, but everyone will care for or about you.

Yashamaru cut off Gaara with reassuring words. Promises of nothing being able to hurt him as long as he was around to stop it. And the promise of meeting a new friend soon.
------------------------------------------------------------------
"Do you understand, Gaara?", his father demanded. Said boy nodded silently, carefully eyeing the girl across the room. She had odd pink hair and big green eyes. Her skin had a peachy color: proof she had been out in the hot desert Sun recently. Her gaze met his and he flinched back. Those big green eyes were lifeless, but as he looked closer be noticed a touch if fear.

She was scared.

His eyes began to sadden. He assumed she was scared of him as most other children were. In the back if his mind, Shukaku was screaming in rage. Trying to convince the boy to let him out so that he could kill the girl who dared to look at him that way along with the entire village, but he ignored him.

He saw her jump as his father yelled at her for not responding to his first few calls. The fear in her eyes became more imminent. That's when Gaara realized: she wasn't scared if him. She was frightened of his father just as he was.

Their eyes met once again and they both came to a silent, mutual understanding.

Maybe we can be friends after all.
