Stepping Out
By the time Taehyung had to leave, he decided to find his way back alone since Jimin was enjoying himself. He stood up and told Taemin hyung that he was going to go and the other saw him to his front door. Although Taehyung was concerned with how much he was swaying, he didn't mention anything and slipped his shoes on before wrapping his neck with his scarf. "Thanks for the food hyung, maybe I'll meet you some other time," he thanked the other and bowed politely with a smile before heading out.
"Yesh, please come shum other time," the elder slurred, waving before closing the door behind him.
He was on his way with a relaxed sigh wondering what way to go before feeling a little lost. Anxiety built up within him since all the roads tend to look identical to the next, and he began praying for some help one way or another. Maybe he should go back inside and help Jimin get home, wanting the assurance that his boyfriend would be safe on way or another. He stood around looking left and right before a voice tore him away from his thoughts. "Need help?" he heard before jumping out of surprise.
"Woah, you startled me," he admitted, wrapping his arms around himself as he turned to see none other than Jungkook.
So that's what his voice sounded like, rather raspy and deep. 'It was probably the effect of smoking' Taehyung concluded in his head as the other drew a drag from the one he had wedged between his index and middle finger. "Want a light?" the other asked, quick to see Taehyung's eyes fixated upon the cigarette.
"I don't usually smoke," he commented, shifting on his other foot as he looked at his face after noticing the other male's hand tat.
"And from the looks of it, you don't drink either," Jungkook added, before Taehyung shrugged.
"Apart from being a lightweight, I hate the sensation of the alcohol burning down your throat," he shared with the stranger.
"On the contrary, I always thought the sensations were fulfilling. Do you know how to get home from here?" he asked before a puff of smoke pushed it's way between his lips.
Fulfilling? That was a different way of thinking about it and Taehyung couldn't help but wonder what Jungkook meant with his choice of words. Somehow it seemed that each were calculated and well thought of and Taehyung always took an interest in reading those around him. "..No. Jimin said his place was nearby, but I can't seem to recognize the route," he admitted, looking down at his feet.
Why he just shared his problem with a stranger, Taehyung didn't know. Something about the other male felt rather... comforting, even though his strong gaze intimidated him. It was like he was looking straight through his facade. Straight through the wall he built around himself. "Well, I know where his place is from here. How about I walk you there?" he suggested and Taehyung nodded hesitantly.
As much as strangers scared him, he wasn't about to let go of God's blessing of help. There were houses everywhere so nothing could happen to him if he went along with the other man. "How do you know Jimin hyung?" Jungkook asked, walking past the front lawn with Taehyung tagging along behind him, ready to bare his fists if he needed to.
"We went to the same high school and now art's university," Taehyung replied, getting accustomed to the smell of secondhand smoke coming from the aforementioned.
"I take that you're the film major he was gushing about?" he questioned, as Taehyung hummed in response.
"So it seems that you're the film major he mentioned to convince me in joining him tonight," he added, looking around the streets as he kept his senses sharp.
"That'll have to be me. Most of the other's are dance majors and want to become idols, but I'm pretty much the odd one out, I suppose. Why do you like film?" Jungkook asked him and even though Taehyung knew the other was looking at him, he kept his gaze straight on the road.
"Hm.. I'd say it's the only aspect of my life that I have most control over the outcome. A story that I construct to share my thoughts with the world and influence others. What about you?" he asked, glancing at the other now and followed him when he turned down a street.
"It's simple yet anything but simply. Something I have liberty over, but need a game plan to construct. Every single detail is crucial to sum up the whole story," he replied as Taehyung analyzed his words.
"That's.. a good way of explaining it. Simple yet anything but simple," he repeated with a small smile of amusement, reminiscing his past film projects of creating short stories about a cup, a conversation, and a zombie apocalypse.
"We're here," Jungkook commented, looking back at the other as he stepped over a rock.
"Watch your st-," the male managed to say before Taehyung tripped and braced for the impact of the ground before blinking his eyes open and jumping back with a hiss.
"Shit, sorry. I didn't warn you in time," Jungkook commented, his cigarette bud kissing Taehyung's wrist.
"No, I wasn't looking ahead," Taehyung commented, examining the burn with a frown.
"Did something happen to your wrist?" Jungkook asked, bringing his hand closer to his eyes since he couldn't see anything except the other's silhouette.
"No, it's fine," Taehyung pulled his hand back quickly, feeling conscious of his arms.
He couldn't let the stranger see his scars after all.
