CHAPTER SIX.

"wear your heart on your cheek, but never on your sleeve unless you want to taste defeat"

MARINA - "how to be a heartbreaker"

"Damn girl," Ada says as she turns her head the moment I walk out of my bedroom to our common room "looking good Avery!"

Arriving in front of our full length mirror right next to my door, my eyes land on my best friend standing by my side. Her beautiful body is covered by a tight red top, matching her jewellery and black boots. Short skirt allowing her legs to show more skin than any guy out there is lucky to see.

"Is it me or you're getting hotter and hotter every day?" I ask her. Gaining a cheeky smile from Ada's part, my eyes land on my outfit for the night. A long sleeve white shirt with black drawings all over it cutting right on my belly bottom covers my chest and stomach. My wide black jeans are broken on the end of it going perfectly with my shiny black boots. The heels of them aren't extremely high, but enough to give me a couple of inches and make my legs appear longer. The way that the outfit hugs my body makes me let out a smile enjoying the look of myself in the mirror and, to be honest, the fact that I feel fucking hot in it without a hint of shame in me to say it.

"Come here often?" Ada asks places her arm around my shoulders, pretending like she's flirting with me.

"Yes, and only for you." I smile at her. Turning to the side admiring her outfit once again, her curls steal my attention right away, looking professionally and perfectly fitting her face. Her makeup is even more shiny than her outfit and her eyelashes are longer than my entire body. This girl is the most beautiful girl I've ever seen. "Who allowed you to look this good?" I shake my head. "This is a crime! Jail I say, jail!"

"Woman!" Ada yells then grabs my arm to gently shake it. "Then you run! Save yourself because they're gonna take you down with me!" I let out a laugh.

"What did we do to deserve each other?"

"Well, I don't know about me, but you, Lili, are the coolest friend ever."

I nod. "I have to remind myself that I went with you to see the guy you're sleeping with fight in a boxing match, I'm the greatest friend ever." I say jokingly, even if my words aren't fully a joke.

Ada shakes her head to then my side and sit on the couch. "It's not like you didn't have fun that night." When I turn to her, I find a smirk placed on her face. "Lucifer..."

"Oh, him." I say, inevitably rolling my eyes hearing that name. "He's just a another douche bag who thinks every girl is gonna fall for him. I hate that and I hate him." Not giving Ada's words much importance, I turn to the mirror once again to check my outfit and to move my hair making it more messy, just the way I like it when, suddenly, I hear a little laugh coming from her.

"Oh, God, this is more serious that I had expected."

Furrowing my eyebrows confused, I go back to Ada. "What?"

"'I hate that and I hate him." She copies me with an annoying voice. "You couldn't have said that in a more fake tone, could you?"

"What are you talking about?"

"Lilith! You like the guy. That's what I'm saying!"

No, no, no. Is Ada high? Completely out of her mind? Anyone would caught me admitting to have cheated in a final exam before I'd like Lucifer Donovan.

"What? I don't." I quickly shake my head and turn my body around to face her. "What the fuck makes you think that?" I ask trying to find a reason in her for myself, but I truly believe this girl is gone. That's the only reason she would have come across a thought like that. The audacity of her by not sharing whatever she took.

"You've never been this caught up with a guy—"

"I'm not." I cut her off.

"Yes, you are. You haven't told me that in those exact same words, but I know you, and I've never seen you play around with a guy like this. What do you think makes Lucifer so special?"

My mouth and brain stay quiet without a knowledge of what to say next. No words have come from me towards Ada about those thoughts I had when Lucifer and I talked the other day, but somehow, she managed to asked what's been on my mind since that day just by watching me.

What does make Lucifer Donovan different?

Her and her psychology major is definitely paying off.

"Do you like him?" She asks again.

"No!" I reply more loudly than I intended, making me sound more suspicious. "It's stupid! He's stupid!"

"If you think he's stupid, and the whole situation is stupid, what are you doing in it?" She asks more softly.

I let out a long breath out placing my hands on my waist. "Because—" I start. My tongue gets tied on its own confusion, enabling me to come up with something to say and defend myself. "Don't put your psychology brain on me, dude!" I point at her, accusingly.

"I'm not!" She raises her hands into the air, innocently. "I just know you, c'mon, being friends with someone for a long time makes you notice stuff, you know? And now, I'm noticing that you're a little bit caught up with Lucifer. And that's alright!"

"No it's ot!" I quickly shake my head. "It's just some stupid game, that yes, I admit I got myself into, but because I don't want to see that asshole's face if I leave it. That's it!"

"That's it?" Ada asks with an eyebrow lifted.

"Yes, that's it."

She slowly shrugs her shoulders. "Alright, then." Even if her words say that she's letting it go, something about her cheeky and proud smile on her mouth tells me otherwise. "We better go. Ryker is waiting outside, he says he knows where the place is."

I nod, letting out a long breath. "Alright, I'll be right there." Ada nods and then proceeds to walk out the dorm room. I stay behind needing to grab my phone, something that I never leave home without.

Every step that I make towards my own room, Ada's words are on my brain like a broken record.

I don't fall for anyone.

That's not me.

I repeat to myself over and over again. Ada is wrong. I got myself into this stupid game because there's no way the proud part of me would forgive myself if I let that asshole win. I don't want to see the satisfaction on his face, he's to proud, but so I am.

I want to see another type of expression in Lucifer, him falling for my hands on his skin and not being able to control his eyes on my lips. Tease after tease. Comment after comment. Look after look. Lucifer Donovan falling for me, not the other way around.

Moments later I find myself inside Ryker's car towards the party. I stare at the window as him and Ada talk non stop. They seem to be in a good place in their relationship, or whatever they have. And I'm happy for her. Ada, unlike me, she's the romantic type. Waiting for her prince to come pick her up in a horse, so, seeing her with someone that treats her like she deserves to be treated and picks her up (even though is not a horse) in his Toyota is what I want for my best friend, nothing less.

As soon as Ryker turns around the corner with his car, I can hear the music coming from the building, louder and louder the more closer we get. My eyes stare at the tiny crowd walking inside and the lights shining through the windows.

How come the neighbours aren't complaining? This shit looks like a full nightclub. There's gotta be at least one angry old lady banging on the door bell like a maniac. Inevitably at a house party.

Also fun to watch.

"I guess this is it." Ryker says sarcastically once we all step out of the car. Both Ada and him start to walk to the front door and I soon follow them when a girl who is shorter than me and her friend cut my walk off. I quickly stop ready to tell them to watch where they're going, but Ada grabs my arm as soon as she notices my mouth opening, she stops me from yelling at the two blonde girls now happily entering the building.

"They're freshmen." She says by my side. "Cut them some slack." A little smile appears on Ada's lips as I roll my eyes and start walking inside the building. Ada and her golden heart. "Do you remember our first college party?"

I quickly nod. "That's where we met." A smile escapes me as the three of us walk through the door.

"I became your friend because you wanted to take your shirt off." Ada shakes her head, smile shining in her face. "And of course, I said to myself: 'I want to be that girl's friend.'"

With a laugh, the memory comes back to my head. Another bad decision that ended with a good outcome. Still, after that day, I learned that mixing vodka with beer isn't a good idea.

We all start to go up the stairs, hearing nothing but our steps and the distant music playing. "You wanted to take your shirt off?" Ryker asks by Ada's side with an eyebrow lifted.

I nod. "Yeah, those were some wild times, buddy. I also remember kissing everyone while I had red lipstick on, so 80% of the party ended up with red all over their lips. Fun times."

"One day," Ryker adds "I wanna hear all those wild stories you two have to share."

"Oh, no." Ada shakes her head. "First you need to get me so drunk that my brain doesn't know what I'm doing, otherwise, I would never let those stories go."

I let out a laugh before turning to Ada with the intention to say how proud I am of her, but the girls that walked inside the building before us cut me off. "I can't believe you got the address to this party!" The one with shorter blonde hair says while they're  walking a couple of steps ahead of us.

"I told you I would!" Longer blonde hair says. "I know the guys who live here so it wasn't that hard." The proudness of her voice makes me look at Ada and try not to smile. Freshmen year: where every single party felt like a whole new adventure. "Gosh I hope he's here!"

"Wait, you don't know if he's going to be here?"

"His friend invited me, not him. There's a slight chance that he isn't going to, but I don't know! He is so hot, like, extremely. I can't wait to see him."

Once again, I turn to Ada and lift my eyebrows as a smile escapes my lips. Whoever he is, girl, I hope you get it.

"Party! Party! Party!" That's the first thing I hear when we all arrive on the floor of the apartment. The hallway is long and dark, totally the opposite of what we saw when we stood outside the building. The hundreds of lights peak through the last door like a party at a movie scene. The noise of the party and the bright blue light makes the entire hallway look like the entrance of a night club.

I walk through the door behind Ada and Ryker making the noise hit my ears at its fullest volume, just the people talking and having fun around me. When a strange noise hits my ears, unfamiliar with the song, I turn to where it came from to see a guy without a shirt and a black mask covering his face. He's running fast around the apartment like the alcohol just hit him, gaining a thousand of eyes on him as he doesn't stop waving his hand in the air following the rhythm.

He definitely mixed vodka with beer.

"I guess we came here late." Ada says when I stand by her side as she's following the guy with her eyes and a little smile on her face.

"You guys want something to drink?" Ryker asks more loudly since the music is as loud as ever. I nod, needing nothing else but the sweet taste of the alcohol going doing my throat. So, we head our way to the long table containing a hundred of different types of alcohol on top it. As I'm making my way towards it, I take the liberty to see the apartment at its whole.

It's big, definitively more than one person lives here. The living room, where we are right now, has two grey couches across each other in the middle of it and a big speaker on the left side. A tiny light brown table is on the right with three chairs around it, more alcohol on top to add to the party. Nothing else gets my attention, there isn't much left to see to be honest, it's probably Colin's and his roommate's apartment. I don't expect a lot from a college student.

When my eyes locate the beer, I grab a bottle and quickly open it with another bottle. A simple trick I learned from some guys my freshman year.

The cold of the beer goes through my throat as I look around the people dancing and talking to their friends at the party. Turning to Ada, she has Ryker's arm around her shoulders while he's whispering something on her ear. Good for her. Now, as for me, time to search for someone to have a fun night.

"There's my girl!" A familiar voice yells by my side. I turn to where it came from to see a very happy Colin walking towards me with his arms spread out, ready to embrace me in a hug. "I'm glad you came, beautiful!"

"And miss a party?" I respond to the hug. "Never."

"That's what I like to hear!"

The moment that we both break the hug I notice a guy behind Colin, he has his hands inside his pockets as he's looking around while pressing his lips together with strength. His blue eyes can be seen even with the poor light of the room, they go perfectly with his pale skin and his light brown hair falling around his face until his shoulders, reddish cheeks while a thousand freckles are placed on his face.

"Oh, let me introduce you two." Colin says. "Griffin." Colin calls this guy's name. Turning his head towards us, Griffin faces our way. "She's Lilith, the girl I've been telling you about."

"Aw, you've been talking about me Colin? You flatter me." I place my hand on my chest pretending to be affected by it.

"Only that you're my favorite girl in the world, beautiful." I lift an eyebrow at his last word and Colin quickly nods. "Yes, I know, but honestly it would be kinda awesome to see my own ass, you know, it's wonderful."

Shaking my head, a smile escapes my lips. Honestly, I've never met someone like Colin.

"Nice to meet you, Lilith." Griffin says with a contagious smile. I shake his hand without question it. Before I can say anything back, Colin places his arm around my shoulders and Griffin's at the exact same moment, turning us both to the side where Ada and Ryker are very focused (and inches apart) on each other.

"Are those two together? She's hot."

"That is a my best friend, Ada, so you need to be very careful about what you say about her, Colin. Remember that I'm capable to bend your back so your eyes see your own ass." I answer quickly while pointing at him, gaining a laugh from Griffin.

"Hey! Don't look at me, I'm not the guy whispering, probably, extremely nasty things on her ear. I wonder why Ryker didn't told me about her—"

"Yeah," Griffin cuts him off "Trust the guy that asks every girl he sees out? Sure!"

"Did you two decided to go against me or something?" Colin says jokingly and I nod.

"It was an unspoken agreement." Winking at Griffin, it leads to us doing a high five and Colin rolling his eyes as a response.

"I regret introducing you two." He lets go of my shoulder gaining a laugh from my part before taking the beer to my mouth. "But I have to say it to you, though." Colin says, pointing at me. "You're looking good, Lilith."

"Keep it in your pants, Colin!" I yell back. He turns around but Griffin doesn't follow him, instead, he turns to me first: "Are you down to annoy him later on?"

I smile. "Absolutely. That just made my night better."

"If I'm drunk, tell me to do it anyway, that's when I'm at my finest."

I nod at him. "We'll do."

He gives me a fist bump and I let out a chuckle. Turning around to follow Colin, I stay behind ready to go back to what I was doing moments earlier.

As I'm giving a long sip to my beer, still cold and being enjoyed by my mouth, Ada is still too occupied with Ryker, and like I had expected, they moved on to the part of Ryker's tongue going aroundinside Ada's mouth. Ew— is that how I look when I make out too? It's like they're sucking each other. Snakes trying to eat dinner.

Anyway... horny people.

I get a sudden feeling of boredom the second that I turn back to the middle of the living room not knowing what to do next, staring at the people around me. I'm not drunk yet to have a crazy fun night by myself, and I can't remember what I used to do when it came to night outs, being the life of the party and all... damn, getting older sucks.

Maybe if I have a shot— no, didn't I remember that is a bad idea mixing beer with vodka? I don't want me taking off my shirt in the middle of the room again. So, for now, my beer is the only thing that I'll need. My best friend.

Taking another sip I feel the coldness against my lips and throat... I love that feeling. It's like the drug my body needs after a long week, alongside cereal. Nothing beats a good bowl of cereal.

My eyes wonder around the room. Drunk and more drunk people, that's all I see. The blonde girl that was walking ahead of us earlier appears on my sight once again, she looks like she's looking for someone as her friend is talking to a strange guy I have never seen before. I wonder who she's looking for, maybe the guy she said she was excitedly waiting to see. Hoping he's at this party just like she is.

I thought it was just a fling that she was looking for, but for the way she's looking around nervously, shine in her eyes, is definitely something even bigger than that.

Baby, please, you're a freshman, have some fun first. Leave love last. And if you can avoid it all your life, do it.

A big smile appears on her lips, it seems that she found the person she's been looking for. Following her shiny eyes I turn to the side hoping to find who has this girl feeling like that. All giggling like a school girl.

As soon as I do, a slight feeling of tightness hits my stomach.

Of course, it's Lucifer Donovan.

Even worse than finding him, he's already looking my way.

Wearing an all black outfit that makes him almost invisible under the blue light that's illuminating the room, a drink is on his hand while a grin is on his lips. He takes the opportunity to look me up and down when I take the beer to my lips once again. Feeling his eyes on me, like the night we went out, it feels completely different from when I talked to him the day before at the gym. Instead of wanting to kill him, I want to approach him and touch that soft skin of his, see his eyes surround my body like there is no tomorrow.

Seriously— why is that?

He lifts his drink up in the air like he wants to toast with me. Following what he did, I lift my beer as a slightly tilt my head to the side and lick my lips with my tongue. Even if he's far, I can still see how his eyes go directly to them without wasting a second.

A proud smile slowly grows on my face, expecting nothing less from him.

The cold liquid enters my body while Lucifer does the same with his drink. My eyes are locked with him not being able to, or not even wanting to, tear our eyes apart. Questions fly around in my head begging me to answer them, why? How? Him? But before I can do anything else about it, the two blonde girls that I had seen before walk in front of Lucifer. The one that wanted to see him in this party hugs Lucifer tightly like they know each other well. His eyes are still glued on mine not caring that another girl is giving him her full attention.

Boy, you better pay attention to that girl because, unlucky for her and who knows why, she seems to have a thing for you.

Seconds later, he breaks the eye contact to start talking with the blonde girls, leaving my eyes behind.

I can feel a slight weird feeling on my stomach. I hate it. I want to make it disappear. Turning my eyes away from him and the girls wanting that strange feeling to explode, my eyes immediately find a guy playing a darts game alone on the side of the room.

Bingo.

Something to get me occupied and end this irritating boredom.

So, while I let out a tiny smile and take the bottle to my lips, my feet walk towards him, leaving Ada and Ryker, still kissing very passionately in a corner, behind.

Unintentionally, as I make my way, my head swings to the side where a part of me knows Lucifer's still there. It's like it doesn't listen to me, and desires to look at him all it can. And Lucifer seems to have that too, his eyes meet mine shaking an electric wave on the back of my neck. He's following me while the girl is on and on about something, expressing it with her hands like her life depended on it.

Lucifer! Don't ignore that poor girl!

His eyes are focused on my walk towards the strange guy, running through my body up and down. He's silently giving me the invitation to walk towards him and talk, give in to his eyes staring at me. But I don't care. If he's expecting me to do so, he's pretty much stupid and hasn't learned anything about me.

He's busy with that girl, so, I'm gonna make myself busy.

Simple as that.

"Nice shot." I say as soon as I arrive next to the strange guy. He turns to me with the proud smile on his face, confident and cheeky. Grabbing another dart, he proceeds to give it to me with a gentle move of his hand.

"Play?"

I slowly shake my head. "Unfortunately, I don't. I suck at this type of games." He nods believing my lie completely (It works every damn time). Looking to the front, he lifts the dart and throws it with ease. And just like times before, it lands perfectly in the middle. "You're good, do you play a lot?"

As I let out those words I can feel Lucifer's eyes on me, yet, I don't turn around to confirm my thoughts. He has a girl in front of him talking about something, his mind should be on that and not on me.

I walk closer the guy and slightly tilt me head towards him, following his hand throwing the dart. "Not much, I once understood how to throw it and it hasn't failed me since."

"Is it a big secret?"

He turns to face me with a little grin on his face. "I could show it to you if you want." Saying softly, I slowly nod as a smile appears on my lips.

It never fails me.

He grabs another dart and places it on my hand. Slowly touching my skin, he walks behind me without letting go of my hand. It's so similar to what Lucifer did to me that night at the festival that it makes me let out a little grin the moment the memory comes back to my head. His breathing against my skin, his hand touching me, his fingers tracing my wrist as he moves it to the ideal position. But when my stomach turns at the idea of having him against like that in this scene, I take a deep breath in trying to erase those thoughts of my head.

Focus on the guy behind you, Lilith.

"Don't be nervous." The guy says against my ear. "It's easy."

Moving my eyes discretely away from the target, I find myself looking for Lucifer. Fuck. It's automatic and I can't control it. He isn't where I last saw him, instead, when my eyes move around a little I locate him sitting on the couch... not alone. The blonde girl that hugged him tightly before is now sitting on top of his lap while caressing his head playfully. He has a little grin on his face while his hand is placed on her waist. That same exact feeling on my stomach appears again and I despise it equally as the moment before. Lucky for me, it's completely covered by my heart sinking as soon as he turns his head to the side to lock eyes with me.

My heart beats faster and I hate that, I want him to stop existing and leave my heart alone, nobody can do that to me, ever. But here he is, with just his eyes making my heart beat at the speed of light.

Fuck you, Lucifer.

He seems to know what he does to me since a big smirk is now placed on his lips. I want to erase it, slap it, punch it, I want it to go away and I don't know how to.

I hate it with an extreme passion.

But what I hate even more, is the fact that for just a second, the idea of me being the one his lap appears in my head making my heart speed a little bit more, just after it sinked to my stomach.

The guy moves my wrist backwards with the intention to throw the dart, giving me no opportunity at all to put much thought to it. Thankful for that, I turn to the target in front of me. Like it did before (and thanks to me since this guy was gonna miss the target), seconds later of leaving my hand, the dart lands perfectly in the middle.

"I'm Ryan." The guy introduces himself after walking by my side without taking his eyes away from me and my lips. "The guy that taught you how to play dart, don't forget about me."

I smile. "How could I? You saved me and future games of dart." The softness of my voice makes him let out a smirk. I can notice the desire on his eyes. It's working.

I'm definitely not surprised, men and their need to save women from something. They want to feel superior and a hero to women, even if we can handle the world a hundred times better than they do.

"Do you want me to get you another beer?"

I slowly nod as a response. Winking at me, Ryan walks back leaving the darts and me behind.

This wasn't as fun as I hoped for.

Taking a deep breath in as my eyes go to where I last saw Ada, not too much for my surprise, I find her and Ryker still exchanging saliva with each other like there is no tomorrow. They really, really like each other. In case you didn't catch that already.

I face the game and grab another dart to play around with it against my fingers. The target is all my eyes can see, my breath is relaxed and my body wants to hit it perfectly, so, I lift my hand and land my eyes nowhere else but the white target. The music disappears and the conversations around start to fade away slowly.

Within a second, I get what I want.

"Do you do the 'I don't know how to play' trick with everyone?" Lucifer's deep voice talks behind me. I get a little bit of chills on my skin, somehow, his tone manages that on me. Soon covering it by grabbing another dart and throwing once again without hesitating, the two perfectly landed darts have all my proud attention.

Lucifer didn't even wait a whole second after Ryan left to come and talk to me. Fun to think about, isn't it?

"Why?" I ask when I sense him beside me. "Did you felt special?"

Lucifer grabs a dart and does the same as me. Our eyes are glued to the target in front of us but I know his focus is on me, just like mine is on him. "You know, maybe you shouldn't flirt with so many guys at once. It could get you into trouble." He says as another dart leaves his hand.

I let out a loud fake laugh, gaining for the first time his eyes on me. "Here we go again, telling me what I should or shouldn't do. I thought you got it from last time."

"Colin and that guy?" He asks in a joking tone. "C'mon, Lilith, you're trying too hard."

I quickly turn to face him as an eyebrow lifts on my face, but he looks away while grabbing another dart. "What?" I ask firmly.

"You know, flirting with Colin when you arrived and then with that guy, don't try so hard to make me jealous."

"And who said I was trying to make you jealous, Lucifer? The world doesn't move around you." I turn to the side ready to throw another dart. I truly wasn't, if he got jealous, that's on him. "What about the poor girl you had in your lap a minute ago? Did you already ditch her?" I let out.

"She went to the bathroom."

"I feel bad for her." I say softly as I shake my head.

"Why is that?"

"She seems too innocent to be hanging out with you, a girl that's used to being the 'girlfriend'. And something tells me you're not that really into her."

His shoulder touches mine, but I don't turn to face him. "And how do you know that?"

"Because as soon as she left to the bathroom you didn't even took a full minute to come talk to the girl that drives you crazy." My voice is soft, yet, I make sure he hears me. He turns his body towards me as I grab another dart ready to throw it.

Before I can do that, for my surprise, Lucifer's hand gently grabs my cheek to turn my head and lock eyes with him.

My heart immediately skips a beat.

His soft skin makes my skin shiver, I take a deep breath in while his eyes are penetrating mine like he wants to see every single angle of them. His thumb starts to caress my cheek, but I don't let him know my heart is reacting to what he's doing, instead, I let out a smirk and go down to his lips getting my face closer to his. I want to let out a word, yet, knowing this, Lucifer does it for before me. "You'll lose this little game you're playing." He says softly, touching my lips with his breath.

"I'm playing?" I reply looking back to his eyes as I lift an eyebrow. "It takes two to play a game like this, Lucifer."

"You'll lose before you can take a step back realising what you've done, then it's going to be too late for you to break it. You'll fall for me Lilith Avery."

I lean closer to him to feel his lips brush against mine, his eyes go quickly down as soon as he feels it.

"I said it once and I'm gonna say it again, you definitely got the wrong girl if you think you'll win. No matter how much I wanna play with you... I still hate you, and nothing will change that."

He can't take his eyes away from my lips and I like that. It's nice when he's the one on the palm of my hand.

I move my hand that is still holding the dart and throw it without taking my eyes away from him. As soon as I hear it land, somehow, over the music playing, Lucifer meets my eyes. I tilt my head to the side shaking my head. "And I never lose." I say, softly.

Turning around I let out a long breath out and immediately smile at myself, it didn't matter that my eyes weren't on the target, it still landed right in the middle.

The party continues like normal after I leave Lucifer behind to reunite with Ada. She and Ryker decided to have a break while he has fun with his friends and Ada with me. I'm thankful for that because now, I have my dancing partner back.

Putting my whole focused on Ada and our dancing, we both make our way towards the middle of the dance floor to start our moves following the rhythm of the song that is currently playing. I love dancing, something that I've been doing since I could walk, according to my mother. It doesn't take me a while to fall deep into it and forget everything around me. A couple of songs play while me and Ada are dancing like there is no tomorrow, old times catching on us.

Feet starting to hurt. Ears wanting a break and dry mouth begging for a drink. I'm ready to head towards the table that has the drinks to grab another beer, get the liquid needed to continue with this dance scene alongside my best friend. Remembering Ryan leaving to get me one but never caming back, my eyes wonder around the room looking for him.

Before I can even catch a glimpse, Colin's arm wrap around my shoulders and Ada's.

"Would any of you pretty ladies care to join me and Griffin in a game of beer pong?"

Ada shakes her head with a smile. "I suck at that game, but Lilith is one of the best, pick her if you want to win."

I give her a high five. "That's why you're my best friend."

"You're good, huh?"

I quickly nod. "I don't want to brag but I will, yeah."

"Then the best team win, beautiful. I'm playing with Griffin, you better pick a good partner." Without giving me the opportunity to look for a partner, Colin walks with both of us towards the dark green table now placed on the other side of the living room.

When did they take this out?

"Alright!" Colin claps excited once he lets go of my shoulders and I look around to find someone to play.

Who's good at this game? I don't know anyone here and I clearly don't want to lose against Colin. They have to be good. "Lilith! Pick a partner!" Colin yells as more people are surrounding the table to watch us play.

"Know someone who knows how to play and is good?!" I yell back. I'm about to turn to see if Colin has an answer for me when I feel some breathing against my ear.

"I don't know how to play, maybe you can teach me?" I turn around to face Lucifer and his little grin on his face. He has his hands inside his pockets while staring down at me. Even if it's almost dark in the room, I can still see those fucking beautiful green eyes.

"You clearly can't do the trick."

"Well, teach it to me, then."

"The clock is sticking Lilith!" Colin adds in to our conversation.

"Need help?" Lucifer asks with a smirk on his face, enjoying the fact I need him.

I lift an eyebrow, annoyed. "Do you want to be my partner or not?" I ask to Lucifer gaining single nod from him. Heading towards the table I lock eyes with Colin. As soon as he sees that Lucifer is my partner, he tilts his head to the side and lets out chuckle.

"Are you sure you two aren't gonna kill each other while playing?"

"Start the game, Colin." I say, firmly.

The game starts with six cups each with Colin's team being the firsts one to throw. Soon after, with a grin still on his face, Colin makes his white ball enter the first cup on my side. He lifts his hand into the air and I see how three girls approach him to celebrate.

I'm about to grab the cup to drink the liquid inside, but a quick Lucifer grabs it before me and takes it to his mouth while I follow him with my eyes.

Asshole.

"We don't want you to get drunk and lose the game for us, do we?" He says after dropping the cup to the floor.

"I've won the game with eight shots of vodka inside my body, I got this." I roll my eyes turning to the cups on Colin's and Griffin's side, ready to throw the ball. I lift my head, concentrated on my target. A breath leaves my mouth and soon let the ball leave my hand. I follow it with my eyes to see it enter the cup full of beer, splashing a little bit of liquid out to the table. I smile, proudly.

"Not bad! Not bad beautiful!" Colin says nodding as the people around us start to cheer for me too.

"If I win you'll stop calling me fucking beautiful!"

"We'll see!"

The game continues as each one of us make the shots perfectly, not missing a single cup that we have in front of us. The last shot is up to me, if I do it we tie, or if I miss, Colin and Griffin win. But there's no way I'm gonna let that happen.

I'm ready to throw, not a single chance of Colin getting the satisfaction of winning from me, my full focus is on the beer cup.

"What? Are you nervous?" Colin asks while his hands rest on the table and I prepare myself to throw the ball.

"In your dreams, big boy! You're not gonna win!" I yell. A deep breath goes into my lungs while my ears hear how the cheers of the people around me are slowly fading away. It's me, the ball and my desire to win only in the room.

Then, out of the blue, a couple of familiar hands touch my waist. "Lucifer—"

"Don't be nervous." He whispers against my ear. "You'll do great, baby." His raspy voice makes me have gently goosebumps on my skin and lose the focus on the cup that I have to land. I try to let out some words, but my tongue is tied up, stumbling every time my brain is asking me to talk. His body pressing against mine makes my heart beat faster like it did before, my breathing is coming in and out of my chest like the air in the room is slowly fading away. I want to concentrate, but he isn't letting me.

"You think I'm stupid for knowing that you'll fall for me, for the things that I do to you..." he says against my ear. "But then you can't control your body when I touch you, why do you contradict yourself, Lilith?"

I had him in this position before, but for some reason, this one feels different. At least, inside my body it does. I'm under his spell again and I want to get out even if my heart doesn't want me to. It wants me to stay and feel his skin against mine until I can't breath anymore...

Lilith, this isn't you. Stop it.

I can't control my body, my words or even my brain. My whole focus is on him.

I understand now, why it feels different: I'm not the one in control. He is.

And I hate it.

Taking a deep breath in, I throw the ball as I hear Lucifer whispering in my ear: "I guess sometimes you do lose, baby."

I follow the ball landing right on the side of the cup. No noise surrounds me, just one thought consuming my brain and growing my confusion swimming through my veins.

I lost.

Colin and Griffin start to celebrate with the people around them. I can't hear any of it, whatever I'm feeling inside of me immediately turns into anger and fades away anything that could possible be heard by me.

What the hell did Lucifer do to me back there?

Lucifer stands behind me while he slowly traces my waist with his hands. I want to scream at him, I want to tell him to fuck off, but... I don't. Instead, I turn to him still processing what just happened to me when he suddenly takes his fingers away from my body.

I don't find him behind me. Turning to the other side, we lock eyes while he's standing couple of steps away. He has a grin on his face as he takes a cigarette out of his pocket. Pointing with his head to the door, with a confident winks towards me he proceeds to walk out of the apartment waiting for me to do the same.

I stand there as a question flies around my mind, on and on: should I follow him?
