CHAPTER FOURTY.

"with this much desire, together we're winners"

sam smith — "fire on fire"

"I'm madly in love with you. I've known for a while now. And, I was thinking of something. You. How I'd rather go to jail than you getting hurt again. I couldn't bare it. Just like me holding my feelings for you. Lilith... I'm in love with you."

I can't describe what's happening right now. What's this feeling called, all my brain can acknowledge is my tight chest around my speeding heart. My eyes don't seem to focus on anything in front of me as my brain tries to break free from the silent trance it's stuck on.

Lucifer Donovan... in love. With me.

"Lilith?"

Lost in whatever my mind is going through, I didn't realise before that Lucifer is now out of his motorcycle and in front of my body. Slowly snapping out of it, my eyes can see how in his there's determination in them.

"I don't expect for you to say the same thing. If you don't feel it, then don't. But you can't deny that this is just it. That you don't feel something for me." Even if his tone is breathy for his nerves, he still manages to be confident in what's he saying.

"I..." my mouth can't let anything out since my brain doesn't even know what to think. What to do with this. The more I stare into Lucifer's passionate eyes, the more my heart becomes a mess and asks me to look away, not being able to handle it.

Still, Lucifer tries to look for them slightly bending his head towards mine facing the floor. "You said it just now. Not in the exact words, but, Lilith, you said that I worry you." I automatically shake my head, starting to feel it all become real inside my mind. "You were worried about me. Why? Why were you worried about me?"

It feels like an explosion of thoughts. "I don't— I don't know!" I can finally let out. But it's not good, my body takes the control of my actions and walks away to the right side.

"No, c'mon ," Lucifer follows me closely "don't walk away."

"I need to."

"You need to talk about your feelings with me, we can't keep pretending that we still hate each other."

My body brusquely stops without me being able to think about it. "You..." Lucifer stops in front of me, nodding.

"Yes, I'm in love with you and I'm not afraid to say it. I'm not afraid of going after what I want. And I want you, Lilith Avery. No one else."

I have to let out a long breath out to release the tension on my throat, ready to close on me at any second. "This is too much."

"I know." He says, understandingly.

"Lucifer, I... this insane. You can't love me. You shouldn't."

"I can't control who I fall for. And it wasn't hard to do it for you."

For me. I can't get that out of my head. It's like a a baseball bat with the idea of Lucifer being in love with me is hitting me repeatedly in the head. "I'm not who you want to stay, no, I'm not—"

"No one compares to you, Lilith. I've tried to hide my feelings to protect you, to keep you around because I knew that if I told you how I felt you were gonna walk away."

He's right. That's exactly what I'm doing, pushing him away without being able to process this. Without being able to handle the words being thrown at me. My whole life I've been in control, even if I stepped down a step knowing that there was a possibility of me falling, I knew that could happen. But this, this, I don't know what to do. I don't know anything. My brain is dramatically trying to think of something for me to do, or to even say, but it's all denial, freaked of every word that has been said to me.

Slowly shaking my head, I step away from Lucifer's body. "I can't say it back." I say almost in a whisper since my voice insists on going weak on me.

"I'm not asking you to." His voice is weak too, giving in to the nerves of pushing these words out. "I love you and I need you to know that." Sadness suddenly rushes over to his eyes, like everything's hurting him inside. "Because I know that if I go down with whatever happens tomorrow night, my biggest regret would be not telling you how I felt."

My nose tingles as tears want to drop from my eyes. I eat it inside hoping that this conversation is gonna be over soon, hoping that, somehow, it would all just disappear into thin air and never crossing my path ever again.

"And if that someday," Lucifer speaks again, slower than before "you find yourself loving someone, I hope you're the happiest woman ever. You deserve that and much more, love. And you can let me be the one who does that, but if not," I can't see much from my own tired eyes, but, I'm able to catch a single tear forming on his left eye "I can wait for you, Lilith Avery. You're worth the wait and everything else." Forcing a smile to give me, Lucifer then tilts his head downward towards the floor when the sound of a car stopping beside us gains my attention.

"Lilith!" Ada's voice can be heard from the car.

I don't turn to her just yet, my eyes don't seem to want to look away from Lucifer still staring at the floor. For the first time, I'm seeing a part of him I've never seen before, or at least, that I wasn't able catch. He looks vulnerable, he isn't the strong and firm Lucifer anymore, the one that you can always count on leaning your shoulder on, he's the guy that wasn't afraid to share his feelings for me opening the door for vulnerability and be the one for once that has to say how he feels. Ready to risk it all to protect me and ignore the nerves rushing in his body as he said those words. Even in this state, the courage that he radiates is the same one that he shows on the ring, just in a different way. Looking at him like this, grows the urge in me to hug him tightly and let him know my shoulder is there too. But no, my body doesn't do that, it decides to listen to that part of me that always rushes me to walk away from every situation that scares the living shit out of me.

"You got a ride." Lucifer's eyes staring at Ada still on the car as he gives her another forced smile, sinks my heart into my stomach. I don't open my mouth, wanting to hear his voice again when he leans closer to my face once he faces me and proceeds to give me a kiss on the cheek, where my cut is. It immediately surrounds it with a warm feeling, strong, that the burning sensation went away for a second. "I'm sorry..." he manages to say before leaning away and finally getting on his bike, leaving me alone like I wanted since the beginning.

But, for some reason, the feeling of disappointment grows as big as my entire body as my eyes see him ride away into the street.

"I have the bat!" Ada yells again as she steps out of the car and walks towards me. I don't know if she noticed Lucifer and I together just now, her immediately looking worried at my cut doesn't let me know. "Look at that cut, Lilith! I'm gonna kill him!" She lifts her left hand into the air letting me see the baseball bat in her hand. "With the bat! This motherfucker has to work for something!" Ada looks insane waving the bat around the air. And the look on her face doesn't help her either.

I try to control my nerves and my beating heart by shaking a breath out of my mouth while Ada is still frustratedly walking around the street.

"That's it. I've decided to kill him and you can make it look like a suicide!"

I look into the road where Lucifer left a minute ago when a feeling of emptiness rushes to my chest, like something is missing and me staring deeply into the street would magically give me the answer I'm looking for, even if there's no question that my head has to ask.

"Poof! He's history! And that coach of his is too! I'm telling you!" Ada firmly walks pass me and heads towards the pilot side of the car. "We're putting my plan on action, sister!"

Turning to the car my best friend just got on, I walk close to it as my brain slowly becomes in control of my actions again. "Did you stole a car?" That's all I manage to ask once I open the door of the co pilot and get inside of it.

"It's Ryker's and, yeah, I stole it." Ada turns it on and soon goes back into the road. I again find myself looking where Lucifer left, wishing deep, deep down that he suddenly comes back for me. "I swear, I'm gonna go after that asshole. When he least expects it I'm gonna hit him where it hurts the most! Bye bye future kids for Damian!" Hearing that name coming out of my friend's mouth, it makes me realise that she knows. How is the question that appears in my head almost like a wave of worry. And it seems that Ada notices, she soon opens her mouth to talk when she gives me a quick look before going back to the road. "Don't worry, Ryker told me everything... Well, Colin told Ryker and I just was being noisy and started hearing the conversation when your name appeared. They said that you were gonna be near Damian's gym after what happened. That's how I found you."

I have to take a deep breathe in to not bring any memories back to my head and just focus on my conversation with Ada and the road around us.

"Why haven't you told me anything that happened to you?" Ada asks me, softly.

"Didn't know if I was allowed to. Besides, even if I was, I didn't want to worry you—"

"Didn't want to worry me?!" Her brusque words lead my head towards her almost in a surprise. And it's also a surprise that the car didn't shift lanes after her sudden jump in tone. "Lilith Avery, I'm gonna pull the mom friend card and tell you how dare you not tell me! I'm your best friend! Even if I wasn't gonna be able to help in this I sure am a great shoulder to lay on! Shit!" Ada lets out a long breath needing to let go of the air stuck in her lungs. "When Colin said that you were hurt..." she slowly shakes her head, bringing the memories back to her. My heart soon hurts, hating seeing her like this. "I swear I punched Damian a thousand of times in my head."

Pointing at the wheel with her index finger, she gives me a look that mothers give when you're miss behaving in the car. "The wheel is you," she slaps it (more like an innocent slap) "I can't slap you because you're hurt, but don't ever hide things from me again. We're friends! Best friends! We're supposed to help each other! Know things that we're too embarrassed to tell our parents! I know your favourite sex position and your favourite cereal! Why would you thought that you being involve in something like this would freak me? I mean, it totally would but that's not the point! After my mini freak out I would've helped you! Help Ryker!" She rolls her again be without giving me the time to stop her rant. "Don't even get me started on him. The audacity of him for not telling me what was going on. After Damian, he's next."

"He didn't know what was truly going on." For the first time, I defend Ryker.

"That's what he claimed."

"He wasn't lying. He only knew that Damian and Alexander were dangerous, that's it." I look at the window next to me, watching the trees go by when a cold feeling surrounds my skin, just like the one when Alexander was watching me. "Still are."

"Colin said that Lucifer was the only one who knew the entire story because he lived it. He was there when it all happened. Is that what you two were talking about?"

That's not what my brain needed. Hearing Lucifer's name inevitably rushes the memories back to my head like a thick switch that with only just a close of the eyes it's not gonna be enough to erase them again. Still, I try. I try my hardest to not think of the words he said to me. With his determined yet nervous tone, passionate shinning green eyes begging for me to listen to him.

It's useless. Lucifer manages to live in my head like a annoying mosquito that won't leave after you turned off the light of your room. He talks on and on about... how he loves me. How I'm worth the wait and everything else. The Lucifer Donovan is in love with me. And this is not a dream.

Suddenly, the air around me becomes stuck in my nose when my throat closes pushing all the tears that were asking to come out before to drop down my cheeks. It's imposible for me to stop it, and Ada doesn't take a second to notice it.

"Lilith? Are you crying? Baby, don't cry!" She holds my hand tightly while she's still driving. I can't seem to look away from the street passing by, hoping that it's gonna calm me somehow. "Does the cut hurt? Do you need me to patch it for you?"

Shaking my head, the words just get ready to jump out of me not being able to be stopped by my brain anymore. "I'm sorry."

"Why are you sorry?"

"I haven't been honest with you." I try my hardest to not let the tears trouble my words by taking deep breaths.

"What is it?"

"I've been sleeping with Lucifer this whole time. After the first time that I told you about, it happened again. At Griffin's birthday party. And then a couple of times after that. It's just a whole mess, I'm sorry."

"Baby, don't cry, it's alright. It's alright." I feel how she moves the car to the side of the road gaining a couple of hunks at her. "Shut up asshole, my friend is crying you piece of shit!" Her hand suddenly grabs mine tighter as she goes back to me. "Why are you crying? Because you slept with Lucifer?" My mouth can't seem to want to let out any words. So, I shake my head in response. "Was it like, bad, or something?"

Letting my head rest on the head rest of the seat, my throat manages to let my tongue free by opening up just a bit. "He's the best that I've been with."

Ada opens her eyes wide as she moves her body backwards, surprised. "Wow..."

"Yeah, but..." and the tears go again.

"It's ok, it's ok, take your time." Wiping the tears from my wet cheeks, Ada takes care around my cut and manages to calm my chest for a bit. "What did he told you?"

What didn't he told me. To get ready for the words to come out of me, another deep breath my mouth has to to take, like the air somehow has the courage and the strength it takes for me to say those words.

Finally, when I feel my throat opening up, without leaving the head rest, I close my eyes for it to not have the meaning it truly has and have again the reaction from minutes ago. "He loves me. He just told me he loves me."

"Oh..." Ada takes away her hand from my cheek. Even if I can't see her, by the way she's just keeping quiet allows me to tell that she's taking it with much surprise like I did. "It was god damn time!" Well— I re open my eyes to find her and her regretful eyes like she just realised something. "Oh, fuck! That's what I interrupted just now? I'm a dumbass! I'm so sorry, Lilith."

"Don't worry," I try to ignore my best friend's missing surprise "I don't think you showing up would've changed anything."

"What did you say?"

What I didn't say. Closing my eyes again, the hurtful memory of me shaking my head as Lucifer's eyes share me the sadness that's surrounding his body. His confident words but vulnerable state, all because my stupid mouth decided to say: "That I can't say it back." I let out, regretting it for a second time.

"You can't? Or you won't?"

My friend does know how to stick the pin in the bubble, doesn't she? Her question makes me doubt my own feelings, of course, but deep down there's no possibility of me having an answer for it. Not after the day I had. "I don't know..."

"You don't love him?" Ada tries to hide the disappointment in her tone.

"My head is a complete mess and it can't think straight right now."

"Alright," opening my eyes since I hear the car starting again, I find Ada giving me the sweet mom smile "want me to take you out for dinner? My treat."

I can't stop staring at her. She truly is the best friend I could ask for. Ada was ready to risk it all for me, the dumbass who got hurt, didn't hesitate on picking me up and then lectured me because I didn't told her.

"What?" She asks me, probably because of the little smile on the corner of my lips.

"What would I do without you?"

Ada chuckles, rolling her eyes as she goes back to the road. "Probably die."

[...]

Here I am again, in the place that only brings trouble to me. The old looking gym with dark brown walls, a big black door and two securities guards by the sides of it that could easily crush my head in two.

People constantly go inside the building like a concert of a famous band group is about to happen. But no, no music is gonna be played tonight. Just two guys fighting each other carrying a deal on their shoulders. Just two guys... yeah, that explains them enough.

Honestly, I've never seen this much crowd for a fight before. It truly looks like a concert and a big stadium is on the other side of that door and behind that long almost dark hallway. The more I stare at my surroundings, the more I question myself for being in this place.

"What am I doing here?" I ask Ada who's standing by my right side, also staring at the building in front of us. "I should probably be getting a black cat, call him Salem, paint my nails black and buy a spell book to become the single witch I'm destined to be."

"Don't be silly." Ada shifts my attention to her when she stands in front of me, holding gently both of my shoulders. She gives me a sweet look. "Let's put what happened yesterday in the past, where it belongs. We had a good girl's day, a sleepover and a fantastic spa day. Just what you deserve." Wrapping her arm with mine once she goes back to her prior place, she leads our way closer to the door. "And you decided to come here so you could talk to Lucifer and give this a close."

"No, you decided. I was fine with ignoring it."

"There's some things you can't ignore Lil, and a man confessing your love for you is one of them."

"Maybe for you, give me a crime documentary to watch, an entire box of cereal to eat and I'm set."

Stopping once then crowd of people enables us from crossing the door, waiting for own turn, Ada goes back in front of me. "Have you thought what are you gonna say to him?" She asks with a a little hopeful smile.

I did. I did a thousand of times before my brain tossed it aside and ignored it, like it does with everything.

A part of me says "get out!" Repeating me over and over again how we don't don't do love. I'm not that kind of person and it's only gonna lead to pain, like it did for my mom for years. Better to stop it before it hurts me.

And the other, well... can't even bare the thought of being away from Lucifer. The idea of walking away just like he said doesn't feel right. It's not gonna give the close that it needs, like Ada said, and it believes ignoring it will be harder the more months pass. Like an itch you can't reach and it never goes away. But, staying means...— I can't even say it.

How is it possible to know? Is it a feeling? A thought? An idea?

There's no correct answer for this now, so: "I'll see in the moment." I say, shrugging my shoulders.

"Just..." Ada stops herself trying to think of the perfect words to say. Even if she gives me another hopeful smile, I can still catch a glimpse of sadness in her eyes. "Promise me that you're truly gonna listen to your heart, Lil. That you're not gonna push them away and pretend they're not there. You deserve to be happy and your heart knows what makes you happy. Take a good listen to it, will ya?"

I have no idea how to listen to my heart, that's what I know. But, not wanting to erase the hopeful smile on Ada's face, my mouth eats those words inside. I slowly nod, grabbing her arm once again. "I promise."

The line moves us closer to the door. Soon enough, we're through without having to pay anything or tell our names, Ada has made her presence known over the last couple of months coming to see her boyfriend.  The security guards even smile at her as she walked pass them.

The noise from the crowd in the hallway and the smell of sweat is all that rushes first to my body. The black walls and the little light only allows me to see a bit ahead, but it sure looks like people are excited to see this fight by the big smiles and the undying conversations.

Biting the corner of my lower lip nervously is my way to escape from thinking of what I'm walking in. Lucifer Donovan vs. Damian Finch, the ultime fight. The one that holds the power of the future... Yep, not that big of a deal.

"It looks like people have been waiting for this fight for a long time." Ada says by my side as she looks around just like I was.

The room doesn't look different from the last time I was here. The ring is still on the middle of the room, the brick walls look brownish with a combination for dark red, and the black door that leads to the lockers where the fighters prepare is on the right side of the ring covered with two tall man just like in the entrance of the building. Normal, I would say. But what happens inside here is far from normal.

"Girls!" A familiar voice calls us. Turning to where it come from and finding a red headed girl, I immediately recognise her. Ivy, with her hundreds of tattoos plastered all over her body and her red shiny hair now a bit longer, she walks over to us with the biggest smile on her face. I can't even remember the last time I saw her, so, it's nice to see a family face around this awful place. "How have you been— oh, shit." The smile quickly erases from her face when she looks at the line on my cheek. "I forgot. How stupid of me to ask that question."

"It's alright." I shake my head. "Besides now having an horrible cut on my cheek that I'm worried is gonna be there for a month still, right on my graduation pictures, which it's gonna lead me to explain what happened to my mother and then her killing every single person that is involved in this, then not being able to cover it because that's a lot of people and then I'll have a mom in jail, everything's fine. Don't worry about it."

I hear a low chuckle come from Ada.

Ivy stares at the door by the right side of the ring and gives it a angry look. "I swear I'm gonna punch Damian if I see him."

"Can I join?" Ada... doesn't joke with her question.

But my brain is stuck on a word that has been said by Ivy. "If? You haven't been in there?" I point with my head to the door once she looks at me again.

"No, somehow everyone knows about what happened and they're not letting anyone go there unless it's Alexander, Damian, coach or Lucifer. It's pretty heavy."

My eyes stare at the wall again. A wave of nerves rushes to my body thinking about how Lucifer is on the other side, preparing for the fight. Damian is there too, just a couple of steps away from him. Even if I can't see them, the tension inside that room somehow manages to be in me like I'm in there. That doesn't calm me, it raises the thought of them just tearing each other apart in a matter of minutes.

A simple urge to walk through that door and see Lucifer comes over me when it's immediately stopped by Ivy and her hand touching my arm to get my attention. "I haven't seen him either."

"What?"

"Lucifer. I only saw him walk inside when he arrived, but that's it."

I don't know what to reply, hearing his name makes my chest go in all sorts of ways, enabling me to think straight. "Well... he's there. That's good." Yeah, that sounds like I have things under control. Sure.

"He seemed distracted, and, before a fight I've never seen him like that." Ivy adds. "Like his head was somewhere else. I hope he gets it right before the fight starts, otherwise..."

Ivy doesn't finish her sentence leading her eyes towards the door, but she doesn't need to to make me understand her: it doesn't look good for him if he doesn't.

"Lilith." Another familiar voice comes from behind me. Recognising Ryker, I turn to Ada to let her know that he is here, but from the way that she immediately looks the other way and her jawline is a bit clenched, I take it that things are not so well between them after he didn't told her about what was happening. "Are you alright?" I nod to Ryker since I notice worry in his eyes. He does the same and looks at Ada, who's still not looking at him. "Is she still mad at me?" Ryker asks in a soft tone.

"It'll pass." I try to encourage him.
Ryker gives Ada another sad look before turning around and walking away. "Give him a break," I gently pinch Ada's arm "he didn't know a thing."

"He knew something and still," Ada shakes her head frustrated "he didn't open his mouth. I'm not mad at him I'm just a little... disappointed that he didn't trust me enough to tell me about it. That's all."

"He was trying to protect you, you can't blame him for that—" I stop myself from continuing. Those words coming out of me make me think of Lucifer. He was doing the exact same thing, trying to protect me by not saying a thing about, well... everything. Alexander and Damian, Adam Deniov, the contract, but most importantly, his feelings.

Having the moment of him telling me that he loves come back into my head inevitably grows the nerves inside my chest once again. Uncomfortable of my surroundings, I shake my head to erase it from my mind. "I mean, me defending him doesn't mean anything to you?" I try to joke.

Ada looks at me. "That's true. You'd never be on a man's side."

"There you have it, then."

When the lights of the room slowly turn off and the entire attention shifts to the ring, Ivy touches my arm again. "It's starting..."

It all comes down to me like a cold bucket of water, realising what I'm about to see. I knew before, of course, but having so much of everything else in my head it didn't fully sink in. Lucifer against Damian is about to happen, whoever is the last standing will be the winner. And if that sends chills down my neck, I don't know what will be of me when those two are up in that ring.

"People, people, people!" The host with a black suit, fancy grey hairs and a mic between his hands walks on that ring confidently. His presence in there it's followed by the crowd clapping excitedly and yells of encouragement for the fighters. "I know you all have been waiting for this fight for a long, long time!" The crowd can't wait, and the tension quickly grows. "These two fighters are part of the group of great boxers that have stood up on this ring. Each one with his unique set of abilities that has lead them up to this moment, facing each other. Who are you gonna bet on?" The crowd yells again, waving their money around in the air.

"This is my time to leave you guys," Ivy waves her hand as she gives me a hopeful look "it's gonna be fine, don't worry." I nod trying to buy her words of encouragement, but the nerves still fly around in my chest and stomach with no intention to leave.

"Are you gonna bet on, strong and quick, Damian Finch?!" A side of the crowd yells and claps violently, matching their favourite fighter. "Or..." the other side of the crowd, bigger, much, much bigger than the other one, doesn't even have to hear his name, it's already clapping for the boxer. The host smirks. "The determined, invincible, quick and powerful Lucifer Donovan?!"

The walls feel like their shaking and the roof seems like it's gonna fall in our heads from the noise it's soon follows the host. Looking at Ada, she gives me a proud smile, liking that Damian's crowd can't even compare to Lucifer's.

"Let's see who's gonna be the one that wins and who's gonna be on the floor... bleeding and regretting ever, coming in between the winner's path to become the greatest boxer that has ever step on this ring..." the host is good, his way of talking increases my nerves like it's on the palm of his hand he gets to do whatever he wants with it.

"Please," the host talks again followed by the crowd's screams "give it up for Damian Finch!"

The black doors open and my heart suddenly beats faster. I have to grab Ada's arm tighter since my chest feels like it's gonna explode from the nerves. She understands it, holding my hand too in the process.

Taking a deep breath in, I let my eyes look for Damian in between the crowd. I'm far back, and it's impossible for me to do so until he's on top of that ring waiting for the fight to start.

There he is, with his dark eyes and strong body cracking his neck as he deeply stares to the door he just came from. Damian confidently stands on the floor of the ring ready to own the place, ready to give the best fight he ever did and entertain the people that won't stop yelling. Looking at the crowd, he strongly punches his own chest with the glove for the screams to go crazy over him. Liking the attention he's receiving, even if he's using his protection inside his mouth, I can still catch a little smirk on the corner of his lips. He proceeds to look around like everyone is beneath him, and he's the only thing that should matter in this moment.

But, he doesn't. And he'll never be. The moment the host takes the mic towards his mouth the crowd screams even louder, knowing who's coming.

"I know I don't have to ask you all to be loud for him," the host points at the door with his hand "c'mon, the greatest, the amazing Lucifer Donovan!"

Another long breath comes out of my mouth as my eyes can't wait to see him walking up that ring. Just like Damian, there's no way I'm gonna be able to find him with all of these people around us, still, my body hopes and hopes to see him in front of Covaliov, see his firm eyes and confident walk like the Lucifer he is every time a fight is about to happen.

When a pair of hands open the ring strings to let him through, my heart inevitably speeds just like the desire to see him as well. And when I locate him, with his familiar gloves and black and red shorts, it's like I've been waiting for this my entire life and a feeling of satisfaction runs through my veins.

But he's not the Lucifer I'm used to. He doesn't look as determined and firm like prior times, instead, even if he's trying to keep his head on the fight the way his body moves left and right while he jumps allows me to feel how nervous he truly is.

The referee stands in between them and starts talking, his words don't reach me since the crowd hasn't calmed down the moment the two walked out those doors. Damian and Lucifer won't stop staring at each other, trying to fight their place in the ring and be the one who stands last. When they both nod and the referee blows his whistle, that's when it all happens like a movie scene and my eyes don't look away not even for a second.

Damian swings the first pinch, with much quickness after the whistle, that a part of me believes he started to move his arm right before the sound hit my ears. Lucifer dodges it with ease and walks back, calculating his every move. Damian doesn't seem like wants to wait, he swings another one with his right arm, but again, it gets easily dodged.

"Covaliov seems focused too." Ada says and she points with her head towards the right side of the ring.

Coach is outside of it with his arms across his chest. He looks nervous too, biting the corner of his lower lip staring carefully at every move Lucifer and Damian are doing. My eyes can't help it, they move towards the other side of the ring to look at Alexander. He does have his arms across his chest too, but he doesn't look nervous, worse, a smirk can be seen on his lips which makes me even more anxious about the last one standing.

The crowd clapping excitedly once again returns my attention to the fight just to catch Damian trying to land another punch on Lucifer, but dodging it just in time by the second.

Damian doesn't seem to get tired of throwing punching, he becomes even more quicker and strong the more he throws, like every dodge it gives him the strength he needs to become powerful in the ring. Lucifer hasn't done anything yet besides keep his eyes locked on Damian's, watching his every move. Even if he's the professional one and I haven't learned much from the sport, a part of me hopes that he would do something instead of just standing there. To me, it looks like he's doing nothing increasing my nerves to the highest point. To him, he probably is doing everything.

Another punch from Damian to Lucifer. This time, as Damian's right arm moves quicker than the wind towards Lucifer's head, the last one moves his head downwards to dodge the punch and quickly shifts positions by taking a step to the left side of where he was. Turning around, obligating Damian to do the same but the opposite way, when Damian moves his right leg he stumbles for a second before regaining his full balance. He cracks his neck and shakes his head surprised at his silly mistake but trying to erase it off his mind.

Lucifer takes his opportunity and swings a punch Damian's way, but it's no use, he dodges it easily by taking a step back and then walking confidently in front of Lucifer once again.

When the crowd suddenly goes crazy, it seems like Damian has too, impatient of Lucifer, he starts to throw punches one after the other. They both move like a choreographed dance on the ring with much speed that my eyes have trouble following it. All I know is that they both throw punches, hitting their bodies and making the crowd chant for each one like their lives depended on it.

It's soon over, rushing a wave of relief over me as they both breathe quickly with a bit of tiredness starting to show on their bodies. But the punches seem to have done nothing to either of them, they look like they just started just with a more noticeable breath as difference.

They're two strong fighters that have a lot carrying on their shoulders, it's gonna take something bigger to take one down, that's for sure.

"Hey." A soft voice speaks by my side. Taking my attention towards it, I find Colin giving me a sweet smile. "How's it looking to you?"

I simply shrug my shoulders, not knowing how to reply. "No idea."

Soon, Paul, Ryker, Griffin and Bobby join us in the crowd to stare at the fight. They all give a quick look to my hurt cheek before giving me a smile, just like Colin did. And I thank the gods they're not asking me questions, my body doesn't have the energy to answer any of it.

"Shit." Colin letting out as he stares at the ring makes me shift my attention to the fight as quick as I can.

I look away for two seconds and Damian has already a cut on the cheek, Lucifer on the lip and they're both being cared for by their coaches and the medical department.

Griffin moves nervously on his place. "If I start biting my nails, please stop me."

"Those two are not gonna go down easily." Bobby says shaking his head, still with his eyes glued on the ring.

"No." Colin agrees. "They're complete opposites in the ring but they do have something in common." I stare at Colin waiting for him to finish. "They're two proud son of a bitches."

"It looks like they have another thing, Colin." Paul adds. Noticing that he has his attention on the ring, to find out what he's talking about, I look to where he is. And soon regret it.

Lucifer and Damian are both staring at me. While they're being patched down they have their eyes glued on me like I'm the solution to one of their problems, winning the fight. There's no time for me to react, Lucifer looks away and clenches his jawline in anger just as he notices that Damian is staring at me too.

This cannot have a good ending.

And the fact that Damian, liking that Lucifer didn't like him staring at me, showing a smirk on the corner of his lips, doesn't help me on having a better feeling about this.

When the referee blows his whistle again, the two of them walk to the middle of the ring and lift their gloves in front of their chins, ready to regain the fight. I, hold Ada tighter, just like when it started.

The quickness of Damian's second punch steals a breath out of my mouth. It lands on the side of Lucifer's head. He doesn't seem like it affected him, instead, he throws one himself and manages to hit him on the side of chin.

I find myself smiling, liking that Damian did seem shaken and took a second to go back to the fight. Lucifer takes the opportunity, like he usually does, and hits him again, and again and again.

"C'mon, that's my boy." Colin says as the crowd goes crazy for their favourite fighter.

Damian seems to be good at receiving the punches, he doesn't lose his balance and keeps a firm body on the ring. So good at it, that he manages to throw one at Lucifer on his stomach and make him stumble back. He does what Lucifer does, grabs the opportunity and makes his glove hit Lucifer on the side of his face.

My heart jumps to my stomach in all nervousness. Lucifer kneels down on the floor affected by the punch, Damian strikes again, leaving him almost laying down on the floor with blood pouring down his face.

When the crowd complains and yells angrily at the referee now pushing Damian back, my head shifts to Colin for an answer on what's happening.

"What the fuck?!" All the boys seem angry and ready to risk it all for Lucifer, who's know being checked by coach and the nurse. "That's a disqualification!"

"Fuck Damian!" Paul yells while Bobby and Griffin both shake their heads nervously.

"That can't be done." Ryker saves me from my confusion as he stands behind Ada and I. "Once the boxer is on his knees you have to stop punching. Lucifer was down and Damian threw another punch."

"And what now?"

"It is a disqualification but there's no way they're gonna end the fight right now, they're probably gonna make the round don't count.."

"Fuck you, man!" Griffin flips off the referee when I go back to the fight.

"He's distracted, that's what's happening!" Bobby and Paul have their own frustrated conversation.

"C'mon, man" Colin shakes his head nervously "this isn't you, Lucifer, c'mon."

This feels worse than when I'm about to eat cereal just to find out the box is completely empty.

Lucifer slowly shakes his head as he stands up and Covaliov leaves the ring while nodding to the referee. It looks like Lucifer is ready to keep going even if he shouldn't. The host talks to the judges on the right side of the room, two of them repeatedly shake their heads while the last one shows them a piece of paper unknown to me. When the referee goes back to the ring and blows his whistle, the judges hold a big X in red just to be followed by a part of the crowd complaining and the other clap to regain the fight.

"They did not just make the round don't count." Colin lifts his arm frustrated.

Yes, they did. The referee blows his whistle when I go back to the ring, and Damian and Lucifer stand in front of each other ready to keep tearing the other apart.

The more the minutes pass, the more I wish I had a time machine just to go into the future and miss all of these moments from the nerve racking fight.

Damian swinging a punch tells me that the whistle just blew but the crowd enabled me to listened to it. Lucifer dodges it easily, and soon throws one himself and lands it on the side of Damian's head. Smiling proudly, I join on the clap for Lucifer. They both move on the ring professionally, calculating their every step without taking the eyes of each other.

Lucifer manages to swing again in a hook, Damian stumbles back because of the hit giving Lucifer another opportunity to strike. Hitting him in the stomach, Lucifer grabs Damian on the palm of his hand and tries to get him as many punches as he can since he's just covering himself to not get affected from the hits.

I find myself smiling again liking that Lucifer has a tiny upper hand on his sleeve. It's soon over, since Damian falls to his knees and the referee pushes Lucifer back to prevent him from hitting. He listens, and looks at the fallen boxer with a speed chest and a fierce stare.

Trying to relax myself I force a long breath to come out of my mouth when Lucifer, manages to find me again around the crowd. The air gets stuck in my lungs because of the firm looks in his eyes sending an electric shock on the back of my neck. His state is so strong that it enables me to look away, like he's putting a spell on me and my eyes are not under my brain's command anymore. Lucifer giving me a tiny smile with the protection on his mouth, it makes me realise that I haven't stopped smiling proudly since he started staring at me. He knows that I'm obviously happy that he managed to win a point, it's not a secret that I want Damian to lose, but my smile somehow gives Lucifer a spark of confidence and focus on the fight since when he goes back to the now standing Damian, he doesn't look like his head is somewhere else. The old determined and dangerous Lucifer is back, and all just because I smiled at him.

The crowd seems to notice this, it starts to yell in excitement when the referee blows his whistle again and the fight continues.

Maybe it's me and how am I not used to watching boxing fights often, but when Damian swings another punch it all becomes quicker like I just pressed the fast bottom on a control and the scene is speed up. Lucifer throws a punch, then Damian, then Lucifer again, hitting each other like there's no tomorrow. Somehow I get to hear Covaliov's loud words over the crowd, indicating that Lucifer should put Damian in the corner and enable him from hitting back. Alexander doesn't say a word, but he doesn't look at confident as before, a sparkle of worry shows in his eyes as he watches carefully every move in the ring.

"They're both not letting the other take them to the corner—" Paul comments as Colin shakes his head, nervously.

My head tries to focus on every punch and hook that it's being thrown, but the more minutes pass the faster they get.

"This will end on who has the more energy left..." Bobby adds.

"And who has the more reasons to win." Ryker agrees, still behind us.

When Ada grabs my hand tightly a part of me wants to look at her, but the other just can't lose the focus on the fight and anything that could happen next since there's no clue of what could. Lucifer and Damian won't stop hitting each other, dodging, moving around the ring. It's like they're waiting for the other to get tired and grab the opportunity to get a good punch in, but both of them seem to have the same energy and proudness, not letting the other grab what is theirs.

Finally, like they had a silent agreement, Lucifer and Damian take a step back to regain their strength. The quickness in their chests is faster and more noticeable now, the result of their little punch after punch moment.

My ears hope to hear the whistle soon for the round to be over, give my eyes a break, but it doesn't come. The two fighters don't lose their eye contact waiting for the other one to make a move when out of nowhere, feeling a cold wave in the back of my neck, Damian's eyes lock on mine. I stand still, surprised on why is he looking at me when he should be focusing on the fight. Even if it lasted for a second, a part of me believes it was more than just a simple look that he happened to give me.

"What's he doing?" Colin asks when Damian smiles at Lucifer and takes a step closer to him without striking a punch. He tilts his head to the side and opens his mouth like he's ready to say something. And it seems like he does. Of course, only Lucifer can hear him since the crowd and the mouth protection doesn't allow him to be much louder than any of it. Still, I'm able to catch that he says four words when Lucifer's back goes tense and his gloves move down a bit, uncovering his chin.

"Something's wrong—" Colin manages to say before it all happens as quick as my heart skipping a beat and my eyes watching Damian swing a hook to the side of Lucifer's head. The punch was made with the whole strength he has, making Lucifer fall to his knees and hold his body up with his gloves on the floor.

For a moment, when Lucifer doesn't get up, I see the strong Damian that everyone's talking about. The one that the crowd adores and that Alexander is so proud of.

"Fuck—" I hear Paul say on my left side.

My eyes don't look away from Lucifer still on the floor trying to regain his strength to continue with the fight. Seconds go by as Damian is behind the referee. Alexander looks at Lucifer with a smirk and Covaliov yells as loud as he can for Lucifer to get up and not let the referee start counting for the fight to be over.

He doesn't get up. He doesn't... my heart doesn't slow down and my nerves heat up my body. The anxious feeling surrounds my chest as my eyes stare at him as hard as they can, wishing that he'd get up and win this endless fight.

Lucifer's eyes are locked on the floor. His chest goes quickly up and down, and his mouth is slightly opened, letting me see a tiny cut on the corner of his lower lip. The punch was strong, yes, but something else must have troubled him. I've actually seen Lucifer received a punch like that, but he recovered quickly and got up on his feet like the strong fighter he is. Damian's word have to do with the fact that Lucifer isn't getting up. I'm sure of it.

"Lucifer, get up!" Ada yells by my side. Her scream can be heard over the crowd, don't know how, but she manages that.

And she manages to bring Lucifer's eyes on me. He has his head turned to face me, look at me with tired and sad eyes. Them going down to my lips makes me realise that I've been biting my lower one in nervousness. When he goes back to my eyes, the referee kneels down in front of him to start counting as he hits the floor. The crowd goes insane around me, even if seconds later it all fades away as my eyes lose themselves on Lucifer's.

"Get up." I say hoping that he would get it. "Fucking get up."

"Eight, seven, six!"

Lucifer is focused on me and my lips. "C'mon, get up you idiot. C'mon."

"Four, three—!"

Lucifer leaves the floor and stand up when the referee blows his whistle and ends the round. The crowd doesn't lose its insanity, screaming and yelling like the entertainment of their lives is in front of them.

I manage to catch Covaliov grabbing Lucifer's shoulders and lead his way outside of the ring and into the black door. Alexander does the same seconds later with Damian when Colin gently grabs my arm and pulls me back to avoid all the craziness from the crowd.

"What is happening now?" I ask Colin.

"They get five minutes to rest and then the last round is happening! Since the first one didn't count this happens sometimes, get the break!"

Fuck.

Don't ask me why, but when my eyes stare at the door again is like something takes over me and it moves my body towards.

"Lilith! You can't—!" I hear Colin behind me, don't know who stopped him, but someone did.

My feet are determined to walk pass that door. The security guards are focused on controlling the crowd giving me my perfect opportunity. I slid back behind one of them to walk pass it and start looking for the door that has the name "Lucifer Donovan" in it.

"That was good, Damian... good, very good." I don't have to think twice when that voice comes from the left side of the hallway. "What was is the thing that you said?" Don't even want to wait to find out what Damian's answer is gonna be, I keep walking hoping to arrive by Lucifer's door soon enough.

For my luck, after a couple of steps, the voice of Covaliov coming from my right and then him leaving the room allows me to get inside without even thinking about it. Finding Lucifer with his hand against the side of his chest and making a face of pain, my mouth doesn't ask my brain on what to say.

"What was that?!"

Lucifer immediately looks up at me with surprise and worry all over his face. "Lilith?" He soon gets up like non a single bone of his body is hurting. "What are you doing here?"

"What are you doing?!"

His eyes look around the place looking for something bad, confused. "This is my room—"

"I mean in the ring! What was that? Laying there and letting Damian have the upper hand? You're better than that! You're better than him! I've seen you end guys in minutes and you're letting this asshole get to you?! Get your shit together!"

My little rant isn't a surprise for me, I knew the moment I'd be in front of him I was gonna let my nerves take control of my words. But Lucifer doesn't feel the same way, for a second, he stares at me slowly processing my words one by one. Then, when a little smirk appears on the corner of his lips I can't help but point at him.

"And don't smile at me because you're making me nervous out there and I hate it!"

"You're scary." He nods, laying his waist on the table once again. "I like it."

"Don't." I try to ignore my heart fluttering.

"Sorry, my brain is just trying to process you saying that I'm better than Damian."

"Of course I believe that, are you stupid? You're better than any other fighter that has stepped on that ring."

The smirk on his face becomes bigger. "Say it again." He asks with a raspy tone.

"What?" I roll my eyes. "That you're "better"?"

Lucifer shakes his head without a single doubt in his body. "Stupid. It sounds good coming out of your mouth."

"I—" I can't tell if he's saying it with sarcasm or not. Weird, since I always catch his sarcasm without a trouble. But now, he just smirks at me with a sweet look, even if he's eyes have a naturally dead and dark look in them. Trying (mark the word "trying" a thousand of times), again, to ignore my heart going crazy, I cross my arms around my chest. "You're being cocky again?"

When he tries to move and get closer to me, he can't, the pain in the side of his stomach enables him as he grabs it with his bare hands to ease the pain. "It helps me ignore the incredible pain my body is going through." He looks at me. "And you being here too."

I want to say something. But my brain doesn't know what. Listen to you heart, Ada would say. Okay... got any interesting things that I could say right now?

Interesting? No...

"Lucifer," Covaliov walks in the room with nervous yet determined steps "you have three minutes left." It doesn't take him much to notice me in the room with them. "How did you get pass security?" When I open my mouth to reply, coach immediately stops me. "You know what? I'm not surprised."

Me neither, to be honest.

"Have you seen any weaknesses in Damian?" Covaliov walks towards Lucifer to bandage his red knuckles and fingers.

I, just stand there, listening to their conversation.

"He's reckless. He will eventually get impatient again and make a mistake. I'll see it when he does."

My listening soon becomes much more when Lucifer doesn't look at his coach, instead, he stares at with with a dark yet gentle smile. I don't know what's he doing, still, my eyes don't look away liking this little moment.

"Lucky for you," coach makes me stare at him when he turns to face me, still working on Lucifer's hands "your weakness is outside the ring."

Once he's done, he doesn't say a word and walks out the room leaving Lucifer to put the gloves on himself. He gets up turns around to face the table behind him.

My brain for some reason brings the memory of Damian and Alexander a second ago, the question "what did you ask exactly?" runs to my mind intriguing me on the answer that I didn't wait to hear. But, Damian isn't the only person that knows what he said.

"What did Damian say?" I ask to Lucifer without hesitation. He turns to me, still, with no gloves on his hands.

"When?"

"Right before he punched you. I caught him saying something."

Lucifer forces a smile. "You're observant."

I watch him walk towards me and grab something from the tiny desk behind me. My ears wait and wait for an answer, but nothing comes. He's just placing a white dust in his banded knuckles. "So?" I insist.

He doesn't look at me. Instead, he tries to place his full attention on what's he doing. Maybe not wanting to have the same affect he had while on the ring the moment those words were said to him. Brush their true meaning away.

"He said "after tonight, she's mine"." I have to swallow to keep the nerves away because those words could mean a thousands of things. "Damian knew how much it was gonna affect me, and it did, my mind immediately went for you, I got distracted, and that's when he landed the punch."

Noticing that the bandage, on the corner of his left hand, is slightly off, my hand automagically fixes it without thinking about. Like a quick reflex. Lucifer looks at it and then at me. Doing this, it makes me realise that we're closer than I expected and my chest is touching his upper arm. "Can you stop hurting because of me, please?"

Lucifer has to tilt his chin downwards to touch our noses together. The air coming out of it start to mix together with mine while my heart doesn't react to it probably, it makes my body stand there like an idiot under Lucifer's spell. "No." He slowly shakes his head. "I'd take a hundred of Damian's punches if it that guarantees you being safe." His whisper reaches my ears just enough, where it causes for that familiar wave of tingles to touch the back of my neck.

"But I don't want you to get hurt." I copy his tone.

"It's my decision, love."

"And me asking you to promise me to not put yourself in danger for me again, doesn't count?"

His eyes suddenly go down to my lips as he bends down a bit more closer, my heart and chest beg for him to unite our lips together and kiss me. But he doesn't, he just stares at them with those mesmerising green eyes that he has. "I can promise you that no matter what happens... you'll always be the girl that I'm in love with, Lilith Avery."

When he's almost inches away from my lips, he slowly moves away towards my forehead to then leave a gentle kiss on it. He walks away afterwards towards the his prior place, leaving me with nothing but a growing desire of having his lips on mine.

I stand there cluelessly, asking myself... what's gonna happen now?

Listen to your goddamn heart, you idiot.

Hello—?

This is me! Listen to me!

Heart? Is that you? Why are you beating so fast?

Because we're gonna kiss him!

I can't do that.

Why not?!

Because—

Blah, blah, blah, shut your brain for one fucking moment in your life and listen to me, you stupid! Do you want to kiss him or not?

Uh, yes...

Then what are you waiting for?! That cows fall from the sky?

Why would cows fall from the sky?

Kiss him, now!

Am I actually gonna listen to you?

Yes! I'm smart and I know what makes you happy, c'mon, go on!

But—

Don't over thinking it, that's when you lose. We don't like losing, do we? No! Kiss him, now, now, now, now!

"Fuck it, then."

"What?" Lucifer turns to me confused on my last words.

But I don't give him the time to have any other sort of reaction, I crash my lips on his the moment my body arrives in front of him. Lucifer immediately replies to it by wrapping his arms around my waist and pulling me closer, while my hand, grabs the side of his face to grab the control of it for once.

It's like a sparkle surrounds my body. An electric shook from the kiss causing for my heart and everything that could possibly have an affect to go into a state I don't think I've ever experienced before. I finally listened to my heart, is this what it feels like?

His lips are soft and gentle, treating mine like they're the most wanted thing he has ever had. I soon taste the slight blood from the cut he has on his lips because of the fight. Even if the kiss is quick, we both control our lips in such a passionate and determined way that it works and it's not clumsily for either of us.

His lips suddenly open just a smidge, slipping the tip of his tongue inside my mouth causing for my skin to feel the burning of my blood and heat up even my chest. Our tongues carefully touch each other as our lips don't stop moving.

I can feel the hot air coming out of his nose against the tip of my lip. The seconds pass the quicker the kiss gets, letting the desire that we have for each other be in control.

His strong hands hold my waist tightly, warming up my body in the process. Our bodies press against each other asking for more, waiting for the moment that we could both tear each other's clothes out of our skin.

When my lungs ask for air, I have to step away and join our foreheads together. All the room can hear are our breathing making a synchronised sound between the two of them. My eyes don't open yet, wanting to recover from the kiss and let the moment sink it for a second more.

"You just started the kiss..." Lucifer said, breathlessly "you kissed me first."

I fucking did.

Lucifer's fingers slightly lift my shirt up to caress my skin on my back, needing it. He carefully touches our noses tighter, and for a moment, I swear I heard the beating of his heart on my ears.

"Lucifer. It's time." Covaliov brusquely walking inside the room makes my body want to step back for a second, startled. Lucifer holds me tightly, no wanting me to move away from his body and miss our closeness. He does let go of my waist with only his right hand, needing to look at coach standing by the door. So, all I do is slightly take a step to the left where Lucifer's hand is still holding me and look away to the wall behind us not wanting coach to see me like this.

Lost in desire for his boxer.

"Plan for this round—" lucky for me, after a second in silence, he doesn't acknowledge us like this by not saying anything and walking close to Lucifer.

Lucifer nods. "Seek the opportunity."

"Damian, hate to admit it, but he's strong and knows when to punch even if he makes them look uncontrollably. But he's also cocky, if you make him think he has the upper hand the more possibilities of him making a mistake there are." By the corner of my eye, I'm able to catch how Covaliov grabs the side of Lucifer's cheek. "You're gonna do good, boy, I'm proud of you."

"Thanks, coach."

"Alright," coach steps away towards the door after letting out a long sigh "I'd say get back to what you two were doing but if you do, Lucifer won't leave to finish the fight. That's for sure. So, ten seconds and you're out there."

I nod, even if I'm still facing the wall.

Coach is right, Lucifer needs to focus on the rest of the fight and me being here isn't gonna help him. Without giving him a look, I take a step away to follow the way to the door and re join the crazy crowd when Lucifer doesn't let go of my waist and pulls me back towards him. "Wait."

He grabs my cheek gently. With his dark look, he manages to mesmerise me again, waiting for his low voice to talk again. "I love you, Avery, with my entire heart."

My chest has to obligate my mouth to let out a long breath out, otherwise, my heart was gonna jump out of my chest and kill me in the process. "That's a lot." I joke with the little words my brain manages to think.

But Lucifer slowly shakes his head. "It's not enough."

His whisper is almost covered by the crowd becoming louder around the ring, telling me that the host is back and ready to welcome the fighters again.

It's time for me to leave. Placing both of my hands on his strong chest, I look him at him determined on my next words.

"Damian and Alexander like to show how dangerous they are outside of the ring. But on the ring, you're ten times more dangerous than both of them combined. Show them. Fucking show them, Lucifer."

Finally, I'm able to step back and leave Lucifer to concentrate for the last seconds he has left. The smile that he gives me it's full of confidence, growing the hope that I have for his win inside my chest.

When I'm by the door, my eyes want to give him a last look. "You better kick his ass."

"For you? Anything, my love."

Lucky for me, my feet decide to head out the room and hide the inner scream my entire body is having right this moment.

The crowd doesn't take a second to hit my ears when I step the room where the ring is. When I try to find my way back to Ada, she finds me first and holds both of my arms.

"And?" She manages to ask over the crowd.

There's no other way to answer. "I think I just listened to my heart." I say, gaining the biggest smile that Ada has ever gave me.

Stepping aside once the crowd makes us, our attention goes towards the ring. Damian is on there, waiting for Lucifer with the cockiest smile on his face. Ada wraps her arm around mine to head our way back and not get inside the madness that is the crowd, almost by the side of the black door.

Lucifer walks out of it with his eyes glued to the ring and Damian. He's focused and confident, totally different from the one that walked out of that door the first time.

"I don't know what your truly did," Ada says by my side "but it worked."

"Did you put a spell on him or something?" Colin appears, soon followed by the entire group joining us by the side of the door.

I don't get to reply, just an innocent shrug of the shoulders and a tiny smile escaping my mouth when the referee blows his whistle, telling the new round just started.

Covaliov stands where he last was, this time, with his hands laying on the floor of the ring while his focus is on the fight. Alexander, on the opposite side, the smile on his face sends chills down my back, along with the fact that when I lay my eyes on him, he isn't staring at the ring, instead, he's staring at me. When he slowly looks away my mouth has to let out a long breath to relax myself and glue my eyes on Damian and Lucifer, nothing else.

Maybe this strange feeling of something horrible happening is gonna go away.

Damian swings his first punch on Lucifer, he lands it and takes the opportunity to land another on the side of the stomach. Lucifer does the exact same, starting the fight with the quickness as their punches.

Lucifer lands a quick right punch, and then a left one. Damian stumbles back but soon recovers and swings his right gloves towards Lucifer's head. My eyes go close at the sight of it landing and hurting my chest. It's impossible to keep them like this, my intrigue on what's happening is bigger than anything else.

Damian lands another right punch. Lucifer doesn't seem to get affected by them, though. He just goes right back to his prior position to grab a possible opportunity or just get hit by Damian, growing in me the question of why is Lucifer letting himself get hit.

"Why is he doing that?" Ada ask frustrated when Damian lands yet another right hook. "Why doesn't he dodge them?!"

I don't know how to reply. When Colin seems to let out a little smile, something tells me he knows the answer to all of our questions. Looking at Paul, Ryker, Bobby, they all seem to know too, nodding in agreement of a silence statement.

"What is it?" When I look at them to gain an answer, Damian hits the side of Lucifer's head.

Colin looks at me, with a proud smirk. "You can't defeat a fighter who blocks punches with his own head."

Wanting to see what those words mean, my focus goes back to the fight to soon catch another punch being thrown at Lucifer. Blood drops down his left eyebrow while his mouth protection is filled with it too. He doesn't get tired or even seem affected by Damian strong punches, he takes it like is the easiest thing in the world.

Damian, on the other hand, breaths heavily while his vein starts to show on his forehead and neck. He's getting angry, frustrated and the momentum of every punch, the strength it takes to make each one, makes him even more tired than he already is. The impatient feeling of Damian can be shown on his recklessness, punch after punch, without a thought behind any of them.

Cockily, Lucifer shakes his head to recover from a hook and then waves at Damian, indicating to punch again because the last one was nothing for him to handle. Damian, falls under Lucifer's trap and punches him again. Even if Lucifer seems to be working on his plan, a part of me hates that he's letting himself get hit like this. The urge to close my eyes comes over me again, but the intrigue fights and wins, keeping them wide open and focus on every movement.

Damian pushes Lucifer to the edge of the ring to punch him again. Landing it on the side of his head, it takes a moment to recover from it when he breaths heavily and the referee holds an angry Damian back.

Covaliov hits the floor of the ring while he's encouraging Lucifer with a couple of words. Alexander, he's now worried, maybe figuring out Lucifer's plan. He tries to get a couple of words to Damian, but he quickly shakes his head and points to Lucifer and then at himself, letting his couch know that Lucifer's his.

Both of them walk to the middle of the ring again. Lucifer lets out a smirk on the corner of his lips, annoying Damian to the fullest. He lands a right punch, a second one and then a third when he doesn't stop and makes the next one quicker than the last one. It's obvious that Damian is not thinking what's he doing, he just throwing punches without having a care, thinking that he has the upper hand.

Another one, left and right, probably ten punches that I've seen being thrown by Damian in these five seconds, when Lucifer, as quick as he can, pushes a frustrated and distracted Damian on his actions and corners him by the edge of the ring.

He just grabbed his opportunity. And he's not failing.

Now it's Lucifer's turn.

He swings a controlled punch with his left hand, landing it on the side of Damian's shoulder. Damian tries to cover himself with his own arms in front of his lower face and chest. One left and one right, Lucifer is as quick as Damian was a moment ago, but with confidence and a firm mind that he's known for. His muscles flex every time he swings for a punch, and his chest let out the air that he needs for it to be strong and have an affect on his opponent. It looks like it's working, Damian can't seem to find a way out from corner and Lucifer's punches.

The crowd is being affected by the amazing Lucifer Donovan too, the loud and exciting yells grow each second that passes. It all seems like a movie scene, where you just experience a nail biting scene but the relieved one suddenly hit you and now you're clapping happy that it was all over. Lucifer is that scene. And he's letting everyone know he's not gonna go down and this fight, is on the palm of his hand.

My eyes focus on every movement like my life depended on it. Left and right, left and right, left and left, right and right, it's all a combination of hits that makes me wonder how is Damian still standing. When Lucifer takes a step back I look at him wondering why is he doing this, but the punch that he quickly lands and strongly lands on the side of Damian's head answers that question.

Damian is tired, I can tell on how long it takes him to grab the opportunity of Lucifer stopping and swing a right punch. Lucifer dodges it easily by stepping back, and with the quickness of a mosquito flying in front of you, manages to grab yet another opportunity and hit the side of Damian's head.

He doesn't fall, instead, this time he does manage to land two punches. One on the side of Lucifer's head and then on the side of his stomach. The affect that Damian wished Lucifer to have was practically non existent. Lucifer just doesn't cover the punches either, he lets Damian go at it with his tired arms swinging slower than before.

The frustration runs wild in Damian, making his body give up the more he tries to make Lucifer fall to the floor defeated. It's useless on his end, Lucifer blocks every punch with his face and seems to become more strong after each one.

When his left hand, exhausted, flies towards the side of Lucifer's head, this one dodges it by stepping the opposite way and tilting his head downwards. The momentum of the punch, leads Damian to lose his balance for a bit and fall to his knees. The referee hits the ground of the ring until he reaches the number two, increasing the nerves in my chest and in everyone's chest as well, when Damian clumsily gets up and yells letting all the frustration out in the process.

But that doesn't win him anything, Lucifer takes the opportunity and swings his left hand towards Damian's head, as quick and strong as his body allowed him to.

The scene of Damian falling to the floor and the crowd suddenly snapping out in excitement, happens in slow motion. The moment when Lucifer stares at him with a tired body and breathing, my mouth shakes out a long breath too, letting all the nerves and anxiety escape my mouth.

Is like a scene of a drunk man trying to get up that I've probably seen a Saturday night. Damian stumbles affected by every punch, with his bleeding face and lips, he tries to leave the floor.

"One!" The referee yells. "Two!"

Alexander moves over to Damian outside of the ring and screams at him to get up. He tries, but fails miserably when his balance tricks him and ends up with his back on the floor.

"Four, five!"

My heart speeds begging for this man to stop counting and end the fight right this second.

"Seven, eight!"

Lucifer is still staring at Damian trying to get up, with his heavy breathing and confident stand in his place.

"Nice...!"

Fuck! End the fight, now!

"Ten! You're done!"

My body doesn't react, is stays still while everyone jumps in excitement for the winner.

Alexander and Damian are out.

Lucifer won.

It's over.

"Fuck, yes!" Ada hugs me tightly snapping me out of thoughts and making me realise that I have a tired Lucifer walking towards me with the biggest smile on his face.

Everyone taps him in the shoulders to congratulate him, but he doesn't care, he has his whole attention on me and my body trying to have a happy react to all of this. It can't truly process it yet.

When he manages to pass the crowd and arrive in front of me, we both stare at each other letting the moment sink it.

"I won." He says to me with his breathing troubling his words.

"You won." I'm finally able to regain the control of my actions and let out a smile, slowly realising everything.

"We can go." Lucifer's smile is contagious, like a little kid finally getting what he wants, something that he's been asking for years and years.

"We can go?" That's all I find myself asking.

Lucifer nods, tiredly without erasing the smile from his face. "We can."

I don't see frustration or anger in his face, his shoulders don't seem tense and the sadness taking over his eyes don't hold a place in there anymore. Like a heavy weight being carried by him has been lift off and thrown away, Lucifer looks different. And I like it.

Grabbing my waist with his right hand and a brusque movement, he brings me closer to his body and hugs me tightly. Soon, even if the crowd claps and yells louder, it's soon fades away. All my brain is focusing on is Lucifer. The safe feeling around us, a relief that takes over, a heavy chest stepping aside and messy thoughts finally erasing from our heads. It's just us, and nothing else.

"Hey—" Covaliov touches both of our shoulders as he points with his head to the black door "go get some privacy."

"Well done, Donovan!" People from the crowd seem to be getting closer and closer to the fighter, wanting to ask questions and just congratulate him.

"There's gonna be time for all of this later." Covaliov asures Lucifer.

I don't get to say anything, after a single nod from Lucifer, without letting go of my waist he leads our way inside the hallway and away from the crowd. Lucky for us, don't know how, but people don't follow us.

When the door is closed and the sound from the outside becomes almost silent, Lucifer doesn't wait a second after, he makes my body face him and quickly grabs both of my cheeks to unite our lips together.

The kiss is quick, wet from his blood and sweat. Just our lips tasting each other to not let the desire we have for the other becomes crazy in this inside of a place.

"Fuck." Lucifer whisper to me as he breaks the kiss. "I wanted to do that since the referee said the number ten."

I chuckle, and the smile that comes after doesn't seem to want to fade away. It hurts my cheeks from smiling to much. "You did good."

"I couldn't have done it without you."

"You were the one getting his ass kicked in the ring, it's all you—"

"No, Lilith," he brushes our noses together, warming up my skin with the tired breath coming out of his mouth "all I could think about while I was getting punched was you." His tone is soft. "How if I won, I was gonna be able to look at you with no problem behind my back, just you and your beautiful face. Me taking you on a date if you let me," he slowly kisses me

"getting to know you and everything you like" and again

"having all of you" and again

"know your strength, how smart you are, listen to everything you have to say" and again "but most importantly, love you, because there's no other person in this world that I'd rather do this with, Avery."

"Do you want me to punch you again so you could have more thoughts?" I joke as a reply of my brain not knowing how to process everything that Lucifer just said to me.

He chuckles, tilting his head a bit to the side to brush our lips together. "If I didn't have my body hurting like shit from the fight I'd believe this is a complete dream." Lucifer slightly tilts his head back to admire my face. I do the same, and even if the light isn't much on this hallway, my eyes can still catch the cut on Lucifer eyebrow and lip, the blood dripping from both of them and his lovely fucking dead looking green eyes staring at me, waiting for me to melt because of them.

"Sei la donna più straordinaria che abbia mai incontrato."

My brain has to process for a bit to realise that Lucifer just spoke in another language.

"What?" I ask with a chuckle.

"Google it." With a cocky smile and a shrug of the shoulders, Lucifer grabs my hand and takes a step closer to the door. "Let's go.."

"What did you say?" I insist, still with a bit of shock from hearing him speak Italian for the first time.

"Have about this..?" Lucifer brings his face close to mine again, brushing his lips against mine. "When we get to my apartment, I'll tell you loads of phrases in Italian. And, the more you get right the more kisses you win... all over your body." I want to stay strong and not get affected (or just hide my feelings) by Lucifer's words.

I soon realise it's useless. The smile escaping my mouth fails me.

"Like the plan, I see." Lucifer smirks at me.

"Are you sure you're gonna be able to handle it?" I ask looking at his tired body heading out the door. "There's a lot of people screaming for you out there, a lot of congratulations to receive. Don't you want to experience that?"

Without letting go of my hand, he brings me closer to him and gives the cockiest smirk with a dark look in his eyes. "There's only one person that I want to hear screaming my name tonight, love."

Damn, he's good. Got me kicking my feet like a school girl talking to his crush.

Lucky for me, I'm not in my bed right now and my feet are stuck on the floor.

Lucifer opens the door and the sound hits my ears. Screams and claps, excited compliments and happy laughs. It looks like even the people on Damian's side have turned to Lucifer's.

My hand is still wrapped around his, holding me tightly. Colin is the first person that looks at us and smiles proudly, then Ada, who has Ryker's arm around her and a huge happy smile on her face. Looks like they sorted their things out. Happy for them, with my free hand, I give her a thumbs up which leads to her making kissing noises with her lips for me and Lucifer.

Yep, we're still three.

Paul and Griffin are too occupied hugging each other while Bobby wipes a tear out of his cheek. Ivy follows his, handing him a tissue and then smiling at us with that sweet smile that she has.

Somehow, in a place that always brought problems to me, one night, it all turns out alright. Looking at Lucifer, he's trying to get away from the people around him. I admire his intentions, not wanting to seem rude and appreciate the people who support his fighting, but for the way that he's holding my hand tightly and doesn't let me go, it tells me he can't wait to get out of this place.

I can't lie, me neither. The more my eyes stare at him, the more attractive things I find. His sharp jawline, his long eyelashes, his messy dark blonde hair falling in tiny curls on the side of his face and a bit on his forehead. The way that he treats people, smiling at them even if his tired body hurts, his sweet smile and somehow dark look that he transforms into a sweet one.

Fuck. I didn't know that I was capable of feeling like this towards someone.

When Lucifer lets go of my waist and with a quick switch, turns himself around and stands in front of me likes he's covering me from something with all the worry in his eyes, the tension in the room suddenly shifts.

"Lilith—"

A loud noise makes a mess of the crowd. But my attention doesn't want to look away from Lucifer, who's eyes suddenly become darker with a wave of strong pain not even in the ring I've seen him have.

"Lucifer!" I hear coach yell for him.

But... his balance fails him for a second. His stare goes lost. The hand that holds my waist loses its strength. His lips part just a smidge. And the way that Covaliov grabs him in front of me, preventing his body from hitting the floor in a hard way, it makes me realise.

It's all happening so fast, the crowd, the noise, my friends, my heart beating fast, me kneeling to the floor to grab his body, all just becoming a blur in front of me. But my mind isn't, is clear with a couple of words inside of it: Lucifer's just been shot.

...

this is a safe place. you all can insult me and hate me under this line in the comments. go at it lol. love you all.
