CHAPTER FOURTEEN.
"don't ask why, but every little thing you do just drives me wild"
pretty much - "eyes off you"
"Lucifer! We've been waiting for you for five minutes!" Colin yells as he sits down on the other couch in front of me. I smile to myself remembering what happened moments ago, as if the memory couldn't get better while the proudness surrounds me. Quickly erasing it, I try not to think what Lucifer is doing to fix himself up.
Ada sits down by my side wrapping her arm around my shoulder, she stares at me with a little smile like she's waiting for me to say something, but admitting what I just did to him isn't a conversation that I would like to have when any ears besides her can hear me.
"What did you to him?" She finally asks. Instead of giving her a response, I slightly shrug my shoulders innocently.
She shakes her head fighting a smile in. Even if I try my best to not look guilty, Ada knows me well, she doesn't believe my fake sweet eyes at all. "I guess you're gonna tell me later."
"Did you actually kill him?" Griffin gets my attention when he sits down next to Paul on the floor, with a beer on his hand.
"No." I slowly shake my head. "I didn't even talk to him because the little bitch hide, I just changed my shirt." My lie sounds convincing, I made sure of that in my gentle and slow tone, but still, Griffin barely closes his eyes as he has them on me, trying to read my expressionless face.
"I don't believe you're innocent." He says softly. I can't help but let out a little grin as I shrug my shoulders again. The memory of him and his erection just because I gently touched him betrays me and doesn't allow me to look innocent anymore, a little chuckle escapes my mouth soon covering it by discreetly taking my hand to my mouth, pretending that I'm scratching my lip.
But Ada hears it just in time.
"You're evil." She says as she's shaking her head. I look at her biting her lower lip, there's no point on hiding it anymore, she knows me too well.
"Thank you." I say in a whisper. Ryker sitting down by her side prevents her from giving me an answer since her attention goes towards him, letting out words for her.
"Lucifer?!" Bobby yells when he joins the living room, soon sitting down next to Paul and Griffin on the floor. I notice that those two are having a fun and entertaining conversation with their faces close to each other. Griffin says something and Paul lets out a loud laugh, gaining the eyes of a couple of people from the room. Feeling something on my foot I look at it to find Colin's shoe pushing mine to get my attention, winking at me after giving Paul and Griffin a quick look, I smile back, already knowing what's he talking about.
Yeah, Colin, I ship it too.
"Lucifer!" Bobby yells again. "I swear if you don't come down right now I'm gonna send Lilith to kill you!"
"Hey! Don't bring me into this!"
"Jesus—" an annoyed Lucifer finally appears in the living room. He has a different black shirt on while a beanie is now on his head. I smile again when the Lucifer from moments ago comes back to my mind... I love winning. "I'm here, Bobby." He says sitting down on the couch in front of me. I stare at him but he doesn't do the same, he has his full attention on the conversation Paul and Griffin are having.
"Finally!" Bobby complains.
Colin lifts his arm and places it around his shoulders while Lucifer just stares at him confused. "Having fun?" Instead of giving Colin an answer, Lucifer, for the first time since he walked into the room, looks at me. I can't help but wonder what did he do after I left or what was he thinking, how his eyes start to shine when I meet them make me let out a tiny grin as he does the same.
He's not done playing and that little action let's me know.
"C'mon, let's play!" Bobby claps excited getting everyone's attention.
"What are we playing?" I ask having my eyes on him, but when Colin drops a tiny black box on the floor, I turn to it.
"This game it's like a mix between never have I ever and who's more likely, apparently." He says and I smile, the best kind of game to get drunk. "You pick a card, the one who's reading a who's more likely has to respond, while the one with never have I ever the ones who did it have to drink."
"Beer beer beer!" Ivy walks into the room with a bag full of cold beers. She's excited because of it, and her smile can be seen from miles away, like a little kid carrying their favorite toy. As soon as she leaves them on the floor I lean closer to it to grab one, followed by almost everyone in the room.
"Come here Ivy," Colin says with a cheeky smile patting his side when Ivy starts to look for a place to sit "you can just sit right here."
He's obviously flirting with her and I'm not the only one who can tell, Ivy rolls her eyes as she crosses her arms around her chest. Probably not the first time Colin has pulled something like that with her.
"Are you gonna insist until the end of your days?" She asks and Colin nods quickly, without hesitating.
"Yep."
"Well, I told you unless you decide to get boobs and change your penis into a vagina I'm gonna keep saying no." She sits down on the floor and I follow her with my eyes, but then, Colin letting out a dramatic gasp my eyes go to him.
"So, you're saying to me that there's a chance?" Colin jokes again. He takes his hand to his chest to rest on it as the other one wipes a fake tear. "Finally!"
Ivy shakes her head annoyed. Biting the corner of her lower lip, she tries to fight the smile in. Seconds later, se gives in, a laugh comes out of her mouth. "You're impossible!"
"But I make you laugh!"
"Give it up!" Griffin joins the joke. "I've tried for years and there's no way she's gonna give in!"
"It's nothing personal, I just believe that women are in every way shape or form better than men."
Colin quickly nods. "Can't argue with that."
"Alright!" Bobby grabs the tiny box on the floor to hand it to Paul, who quickly picks a card. "Let's play!"
"Never have I ever DMed a celebrity." Paul reads the black card on his hand and I immediately take the beer to my mouth.
"I text Chris Evans all the time." I say. "Who knows? Maybe he'll see it and immediately fall in love with me because he's my soulmate." I look around the room to see who else drank, but everyone is staring at me confused, I quickly add: "I took a test a long ago and the page said it! Don't look at me like that!"
Colin drinks. "I text Ryan Reynolds my grocery list. Does that count?"
Ivy picks a car so everyone turns to her. "Most likely to die first in a horror movie. Oh, I don't even have to take time to answer this. Ryker."
"What?!" He asks surprised at her answer, but every single person in the room nods, including me.
"You're too innocent! Sorry!" Ivy adds. "I think you'll be one who would try to reason with the killer."
I laugh. "Or don't even realise that you have the killer in front of you."
Ryker still can't believe what his ears are hearing and Ada noticing this, places her arm around his shoulders to then kiss the side of his head. "Don't worry, I'll protect you."
"Never have I ever—" Griffin reads the car without saying a word, he stops to look up and let out a lot breath out. Immediately turning to see Bobby, Paul takes a look of the card and can't help but let out a loud laugh. My intrigue grows and I can't wait to hear what it is, and apparently so does everyone else.
"What is it?!" Colin asks impatiently.
"Kissed a friend's sibling?" Griffin finally says and all the boys in the room burst out in laughter, except Bobby.
Oh, boy.
"Oh—" Bobby says and I have to cover my mouth to prevent the laugh from coming out, I don't want to make the situation worst for Bobby even if more than half the room is already laughing.
"Bobby?!" Ivy asks surprised.
"Drink to that, Bobby!" Griffin says trying to sound angry but something tells me he's holding a laugh in. "You kissed my sister!"
"I didn't know it was your sister!" Bobby says defending himself. "And we were eighteen, I didn't even know you then!"
"Still! The audacity to kiss my big sister!"
"I'm gonna save poor Bobby," Colin says "so I'm next."
I turn to see him dramatically moving the box around to mix the cards around and pick a random one. Taking the beer to my mouth I suddenly get the weird feeling inside of having someone's eyes on me.
It doesn't take me long to find the person that those eyes belong to.
Lucifer.
As soon as I see those green eyes staring my way I can't help but let out a smirk. I slowly look down intentionally, wanting him to see what I'm doing and remember what happened moments ago. My mouth wants to ask him what did he do or keep bragging that I got him like that, but I can't. Not unless I want everyone up my ass and asking what's my question about.
"Pick a damn card Colin!"
I go back to Lucifer's eyes to notice that they're not on mine, he's looking down to my lips as his chest is moving with a little more speed than usual. His hand is gently resting on his thigh as his thumb moves up and down, like his mind is focused on something and he doesn't know what his body is doing. The same shine that he had earlier it's there again making the need to let out what's he looking at grow, just to make him nervous.
But Colin finally speaks.
"Never have I ever caught my parents having s— oh I regret picking this one already." I move my eyes to see him and the beer on his mouth.
"You did?!" I ask surprised
Ivy reaches to him and caresses his knee, pitting him. Colin has his eyes closed as he shakes his head, not wanting to bring the memory back. I wouldn't either. "You poor soul!"
"I was five and I didn't know what it was. Until I was fifteen I believed that they're were wrestling like they told me." He takes another sip of his beer opening his eyes. "But now I can say to my little brother that I know when he was conceived so... that's cool."
"Yeah," Griffin nods "let's see the positive, Colin."
I hear someone picking another card close to me so I turn to where it came from, finding Ryker reading. "Who's more likely to hit someone with their car?"
"We all know this." Paul says and I can hear all the boys letting out little laughs.
"Ivy." Ryker says and as soon as he does, Ivy turns to him surprise, not even trying to hide the shook in her eyes.
I let out a laugh as I start to believe that her only sweet thing that she has is her smile.
"Why?!"
"You get really angry when you're driving."
"I do not!"
Bobby's laugh gets my attention. "One time you almost got into a fight with an old lady because she was walking too slow."
"She was!" Ivy rolls her eyes as the boys laugh again. She waves her hand annoyed resting her back on the couch, trying to not freak out and go at it with the guys. "Let's move on!"
"I'm gonna pick another one," Colin talks "I'm mad at the last one I did." He reaches down to the box and grabs one, he starts to read but it doesn't take him long to let out a chuckle and tilt his head to the side. "Most likely to pleasured given a partner for more than half an hour?"
"Half an hour?!" I quickly ask surprise. I can hear a laugh coming from Ada bringing us both back the "hour an a half" moment with her and Ryker.
"Huh?!" Ivy follows my confusion. "Who can?" She asks to Colin since a cheeky smile is on his lips while looking down to the card. But shaking his head, he bites his lower lip trying to not laugh at whatever is going on in his head.
"Who can?" I ask again going around everyone in the group impatiently. "Asking for a friend—" I add seeing everyone's eyes on me instead of Colin, who's still looking down at the card.
He lets out a chuckle as he looks up directly to his side. "Lucifer." He finally says and I can feel my chest getting heavy at the sound of his name. "I've heard things."
My eyes go to him to see that he's looking down with a grin on his face. There's no way— literally no way.
Him? Lucifer Donovan?
It can't be.
"One day I came home," Colin continues "I think it was my freshman year of college. I even remember seeing the clock and getting surprised of the things that I was hearing for... half an hour."
"What?!" Paul asks. "How come I've never heard of his?"
"I remember that!" Griffin points at Colin. "You called me saying that you wanted to make a bet on how long it was going to last."
"You have anything to say pretty boy?" Colin asks pushing the side of Lucifer's shoulder. For the first time since the question came, Lucifer looks up and immediately locks eyes with me. His grin goes even bigger as he slightly tilts his head to the side and shrugs his shoulders.
"I have no comment." He softly says and that turns the whole room into chaos. I don't want to listen to anything of it, my eyes are way too focused on his.
Even if the group is talking about him, he doesn't say anything, instead, just like me, he has his full attention on what I'm doing and the fact that my eyes won't move away from him. I can't help but let out grin as he takes his hand to his back pocket and grabs his phone to look at it. I wonder what's he looking at, but I can't do much after that, my own phone vibrates on my pocket.
I quickly grab it confused with my eyes still with him, looking back at me. His fingers move on his phone without looking at it, he lets out an ever bigger grin as the room doesn't stop talking about him and his answer. Soon after, my phone vibrates seconds later.
"What's that smile?
You want to see if Colin's right, Avery?"
I read his message.
How did he get my number? I don't remember giving it to him ever, but still, I touch the number to type his name instead. I go back at his message and my fingers suddenly stop to think about what my response is going to be, but nothing comes. I read it again and again to look for something inside my mind that would come close of his phrase and shut his mouth.
But I can't.
He's fucking right.
I want to see if Colin's right.
"Never have I ever sent a dirty text to the wrong person?" Bobby asks and soon bursts out into laughter.
"Don't laugh!" Griffin says defensively. "It was one of the worst day of my life!"
I look up to find that Lucifer is no longer looking at me, he's now in the game forgetting about the text. I block my phone doing the same, leaving it on my thigh to try and forget everything about the message.
You wanna see if Colin's right?
Shut up.
"Who did you sent it to?" Ada asks to Griffin.
"My mom." He says shamefully. "Let's not get into it."
"Was is that bad?" Ivy asks ignoring his wishes and as soon as Griffin nods and closes his eyes, she covers her mouth disgusted. "Did she saw it?"
He nods again.
Even I can feel the embarrassment on the whole situation.
But with my mom, she would probably laugh it off and then proceed to tell me ways to phrase the dirty text better. Or even how to reply to one.
There's no one like her, that's for sure.
"Yeah," Bobby says grabbing another card "let's move one for the sake of Griffin. Who's most likely to make a move on a teacher?"
"You!" The boys scream at the same time.
Bobby nods. "I can't argue with that."
Ada hangs me a card and I don't hesitate on grabbing it. "Most likely to build a sex dungeon?" I don't even have to wait to think about my answer. "Colin."
"You know what? I thought about it."
"Most likely to do porn?" Ada asks and a tiny laugh escapes her mouth. "After what just Colin said, him."
"Why not?"
Ada hands me another card. "Most likely to kiss a security guard?" I know exactly who. "Ada! She did it once!"
"What?" Ryker asks surprised as soon as Ada covers her face embarrassed.
"It was unbelievable! We just met each other and it was normal thing for me to do it, you know, flirt with security guards so they'd let us in but one day she flipped! She did it! It was amazing. I will definitely tell that at your wedding."
"Remember Roberto?" Ada asks me uncovering her face, even if her embarrassed eyes are still there.
"I think about Roberto and his sexy ass every day of my life." I joke making Ada shake her head, letting out a smile.
"Alright," Ryker says "we're gonna talk about Roberto and his sexy ass later. I'm intrigued."
"Dude," Griffin calls Lucifer handing him a card "read one."
Lucifer immediately grabs and I follow his eyes reading the card. He doesn't say it right after doing it, instead, a grin appears on his lips as he locks eyes with me. I don't understand why, but my intrigue on what the card says grows inside of me. "Never have I ever—" he starts grabbing the beer and taking it to his mouth, but stopping right on the edge with an even bigger smirk growling "had a sex dream about someone in this room."
He drinks.
And my heart drops to my stomach as he does so. His eyes don't leave mine even if the entire room is already throwing questions at him.
"Who?!"
"Wait— Lucifer, who?!"
"Dude! Who is it?!"
"What the fuck?!"
"It better not be me, you dirty whore!"
I don't even know what to think. A part of me wants to believe that he's lying for it to be a part of our game and get me questioning it, ending up with me thinking about having sex with him once again.
But the other part, has me believing it's true. Why would he lie? It's a common thing to be honest on these type of games to have more fun with friends, but as of right now, everyone is still going on and on about what the answer and who it is.
It can't be fun for him.
Or maybe it is. He has me right where he wants it, where I can't leave his eyes and my mind wondering about that sex dream and what it was about. He got what he wanted, lying or not, the memory of him touching my body seconds before fucking me comes back to my head.
And the butterflies don't even take a full second to come back to my stomach.
"C'mon, dude! Who is it?!" Griffin insist once again.
Dropping the card to the side breaking the eye contact with me, he slightly shrugs his shoulders. "That's not part of the game."
"It's me isn't it?" Colin asks shaking his head. "I walk naked in our apartment too much! It's my fault!"
"It's definitely me." Bobby says. "We trained together the other day, I could tell that you wanted me for the way you punched me."
"Guys!" Griffin lifts his hand into the air. "Don't lie to yourselves, Lucifer always makes sure I get my tea before bed because he knows how much it relaxes me. He wants me."
"No," Paul shakes his head "the other day I needed to study some old historians and he helped me. I'm sorry I'm too sexy and that made you think of me that way, Lucifer."
"This is telling me nothing but that they all want to sleep with Lucifer." Ivy says for only Ada and I.
I let out a tiny laugh leading Lucifer's eyes to mine. Letting out another grin, he takes the beer to his mouth making me feel even more intrigued on that fucking dream as before.
"He's not gonna give it up, guys." Ivy says grabbing another card.
"He's not gonna give it up because we already who it is." Ada says by my side shaking her head. She gives me a quick look but it's immediately covered by her taking the beer to her mouth.
Ada, don't make me think about it more than I already did.
"Most likely to start having sex in the middle of an argument or conversation?" Ivy asks and soon lets out a chuckle dropping the card on the floor. "That's easy."
"I think we all have the same answer." Colin says.
"What if we all say at the same time?" Griffin tilts his head to the side, looking around. "We're all thinking he same thing."
"Wait." I say. "I don't have a clue—"
"You're gonna be alright." Colin winks at me as he lifts his hand into the air. What does he mean by that? Who are they all thinking about? Paul and Griffin? "On the count of three, one," he lifts his finger "two, three—"
"Lilith and Lucifer!"
"Together!" Griffin adds to then burst out into laughter, just like everyone else.
Wait— what?
It takes me a couple of seconds to realise what they all said...
Me and him?!
We argue a lot, but why do they think we would stop and make out?! The only thing I want to do while fighting is kill him! There's no way!
"What?!" I quickly ask.
"It's gonna happen eventually!"
"Who wants to bet that's gonna a happen this weekend?" Paul lifts his hand and is immediately followed by Colin.
"Twenty bucks?"
"You got it!"
I roll my eyes, annoyed. "You all are insane. It's not gonna happen."
"We can all see it!" Griffin gets closer to me and shakes my knee, still not being able to control his laughter. "Admit it!"
"Admit what? That I think you all are dumb?!"
"Lucifer has said nothing." Ada says with a little proud smile looking at him. For the first time since the question had come up, I look at him to find a grin on his face. He's not looking at me, instead, his eyes are looking down as he shakes his head. "What are you thinking, Lucifer?"
"There's no way." He says looking up looking at my eyes. I can't tell if he means what he's saying or not, the big grin on his lips doesn't allow me fully understand it.
He better mean it or it's over for him.
"You two are the dumb ones." Ivy says rolling her eyes. I want to say something else, but when Lucifer looks down to his phone just like before, I shut my mouth letting everyone around us keep up with the conversation.
Seconds later, my phone vibrates again.
"Why so defensive? It already happened.
Don't act like you don't want it to happen again, Avery."
This time, I know exactly what to respond.
"And what about you? It's not like you didn't just prove it to me five minutes ago."
"Tomorrow is the party so nobody will hear you guys! That's a given!" Bobby says trying to get our attention, but my eyes are glued to my phone as the three circles are under his name.
"Shame."
I read it over and over it as my heart speeds.
Scream it. I want everyone hearing how good the guy that you hate makes you feel. His voice appears in my head.
Fuck.
My heart speeds and my stomach turns at the thought of him with his hand around my throat for a second time. Both of us moaning while enjoying what the other is doing like there's no tomorrow.
My chest feels heavy.
I get tingles on the pit of my stomach.
Not right now.
I immediately block my phone trying to get the feeling away as I look up, shaking my head. "It's just not gonna happen, sorry to disappoint!"
"Fine, then." Colin says so my eyes go to him. Looking at Lucifer with a grin, he then goes to me, with an ever bigger smile. "If you're not gonna go with Lucifer, go with me."
"What?" I quickly ask. Not getting an immediate answer from him, Colin gets up from where he is and walks towards me to sit between Ada and I, wrapping his arm around my shoulders.
"Ada is taken and Ivy likes women, you're the only one. Someone has to love Colin!"
"What about me, Lilith?!" Bobby yells getting my attention, but I quickly shake my head.
"What are you guys talking about? Did you take drugs and didn't tell me?"
Colin lets out a chuckle as he leaves my eyes. He looks over to Lucifer and I can see how he's trying to not let out a proud smile. Wondering why, my head turns to where he's looking at finding an extremely serious Lucifer with his eyes glued on Colin's arm around my shoulders.
Something tells me he's not liking it.
"Well," Colin shrugs his shoulders going back to me "if Lucifer doesn't want to do something about the sexual tension that you two clearly have then the only one there's left to love is me!"
I roll my eyes. "You're mistaking sexual tension with wanting to kill each other, Colin. Besides, if I had to chose between all of you I would chose Ivy," a laugh comes from her "there's now way I'm sleeping with any of you guys."
"That's my girl!"
Bobby rolls his eyes. "Lesbians!" He adds jokingly as Ivy claps excited.
"Lilith is mine, you all better fuck off!"
I let out a laugh as the three of them start to go at it again, but I chose to not listen to it when my eyes go to Lucifer to see what's he doing. He's no longer staring at Colin's arm, instead, his eyes are on me. His jawline is clenched as his chest breaths heavily, he tilts his head to the side when I let out a smile at the thought of him getting jealous of everything that's happening.
It's all just a game but there he is, getting angry at the sight of me with another man. I discreetly grab my phone and type:
Seem a little bit tense...
jealous, Donovan?
His eyes go to his phone gaining a smile from me when he clenches his jawline even more. A wave of needing to make it worst comes over me, make it impossible for him to hide his annoyance. My fingers giving in, they already type my next message.
Are you imagining me screaming Colin's name instead of yours?
A long breath out comes of his mouth reading the message. He moves uncomfortably on the seat and I can't help but smile even more when my fingers move again.
Sounds like a good idea, don't you think?
He looks up at me.
His eyes show me a mix of emotions. At first he looks angry, with his heavy breathing as he goes to Colin's arm once again. I want to laugh and make it even worst for him and see what he would do, so, dropping my body a little bit to the side where Colin is I let it rest on it. He doesn't even realise since he's still talking to Ivy and Bobby, but I don't care, making Lucifer angry is all I want.
I tilt my head to the side looking for his eyes and it doesn't take him long to meet them. But as soon as he does, they go down to my lips as he bites his lower lip. I let out a smile going down to my phone, moving my fingers as I feel Lucifer's eyes on me.
It's like you can't help but stare at them, Donovan, control yourself.
This time, the three dots appear under his name.
What if I don't want to, Avery? Are you gonna do something about it?
"All I know is that tomorrow morning we're gonna have a double murder." Colin's voice gets my attention since he slightly shakes my arm. I look up at him to see that he's looking right into my eyes. "Or if they come out with a smile, they definitely did it."
"No," I shake my head "if I come out with a smile it's because I killed him."
A disgusted noise comes from Lucifer. "I forgot that I have to share a room with you." He throws at me like we haven't been teasing each other on our phones two seconds ago.
I immediately roll my eyes, blocking my phone. "I'm so excited, you have no idea." I say sarcastically but our fight doesn't seem to fool the group, since Griffin lets out chuckle.
"They're definitely gonna have sex and then kill each other." Everyone nods, agreeing with him.
"Alright, you all are high right now." I say getting up. "Shame on all of you for not sharing. I'm going to bed because I'm tired of hearing all of these non sense."
"Yes, let's go to sleep because I'm intrigued on what's gonna happen!" Ivy says excited but I just roll my eyes, heading up the stairs.
"Goodnight! I hate you all!"
"Oh, no! She hates us too, Lucifer don't get jealous now!"
I can't hear any more of that conversation since I quickly make my way inside the room. Grabbing my backpack from the floor, I leave it on my side of bed staring at as if I'm waiting for it to move... a couple of minutes from now, I'm going to be sleeping in this bed with Lucifer by my side.
My insides are having so much conflict with it. A part of me doesn't mind, it's not like we've never been that close to the other to begin with. But the other, just the thought of having him that close and do something like sleeping with his annoying breathing next to me makes me hate it. I want him to know that this idea repulses me, because if I don't, I get the feeling he's gonna think I want to and that's gonna give him the opportunity to tease me about it.
And I'm over giving him those stupid opportunities.
Looking around as I hear everyone walking to their respective rooms, a couple of pillows inside of the opened closet appear on my sight. I don't hesitate on walking towards it to grab every single one of them, putting on motion the idea that just appeared in my head.
Placing them in the middle of the bed to divide it, I make sure it's even. I'm tempted to give me more space, but I don't, he's definitely gonna see it and somehow manage to turn the situation against me.
"What are you doing?" Lucifer asks leading my eyes look up to stare at him, laying on the frame of the door with his arms crossed on his chest. He lets out a chuckle, allowing me to feel the annoyance of it growing inside my chest.
"Wishing for your disappearance in the world." I reply without hesitating and going back to the pillows. Making sure they're done I walk back to my backpack to open it, but his voice speaks again.
"Is there any explanation for the pillows in the middle?"
"I don't want any unconscious touching during the night." I reply taking my clothes off the backpack to find my pijama.
"And the pillows are gonna prevent that?" He asks. Hearing him walk closer to me my eyes leave the backpack to look up at him, who has now a grin on his face. "It's interesting how our friends wants us to sleep together."
"What's interesting about that?" I ask annoyed. "They're definitely high, drugs has them acting that stupid."
Another chuckle leaves his mouth. He stops on the edge of the bed placing his hand inside his pockets, tilting his head to the side. "Or maybe you don't hide the fact that you want to sleep with me very well."
"What about you and all that intense eye contact? You're not so innocent."
He slowly shakes his head. "No, I'm not." He says softly with a smirk. "But you already knew that, Avery."
Rolling my eyes I go back to my backpack to remove more shirts and finally find my pijama, but as I take another shirt from inside, a long sigh comes out of my mouth.
The backpack is empty.
"Fuck." I let out in a whisper closing my eyes.
"What?"
"I forgot my pijama." Suddenly, the realisation that I'm gonna have to spend the night with my jeans on makes me feel already uncomfortable in them. I open my eyes to find Lucifer looking my way with a smirk, I can't quite see what's he thinking about, but I don't have much time to figure it out since the moment he looks away from my eyes his hands go to the end of his shirt, quickly pulling it up. "What are you doing?" I ask confused staring at him. My eyes can't help but go down to his now uncovered body, his tattoos are the first thing I see just like his fit body. I have to admit, and I hate that I'm about to think this, but Lucifer has one of the prettiest bodies I've ever seen. His skin looks soft, something about it makes me think of how warm it looks, like it's hot even on the most cold days making you feel the strange combination of the warmth of his body and the cold of the outside world when he's touching you.
"Wear my shirt." Lucifer's voice takes me out of my trance. His hand is reaching me his shirt as he has a little smile on his face, not cocky or even cheeky, just a genuine smile of a boy who's letting me use his shirt for the night for me to be comfortable.
But I don't trust it, even if it looks truthful.
"I'm not gonna wear your stinky shirt." I shake my head.
"It's not stinky."
"I prefer sleeping with my jeans."
"You'll be uncomfortable."
A fake chuckle leaves my mouth. "Like you care."
He rolls his eyes as the genuine smile starts to disappear from his face. "I don't want your annoying ass stumbling around in bed because you can't sleep, wear it." He throws it at me and I catch it easily. Staying truthful to my words, I soon leave it on the bed shaking my head.
"You'll never find me wearing a shirt of yours, no."
He grabs it again and places it on top of my head. I shake it off trying to throw it on the floor, but Lucifer manages to grab it first. "You're being so dramatic."
"It's what I do, deal with it."
"Wear it." He hands it to me and I grab his hand, pushing it away.
"Put it up your ass."
"Avery, don't be stubborn!" He gets it close to me once again, but just like before, I push it back shaking my head.
"You seriously need to learn that I'm never going to stop being stubborn!"
"Why!? It's just a stupid shirt!"
"You're stupid!"
"You're even more stupid!"
The door of the room swings wide open. "Guys?!" Colin's yell hit my ears so we both turn to it quickly, still with our veins rushing from the tiny fight.
"What!?" We both ask at the same time. Colin's concern immediately disappears turning into a smile, while raising an eyebrow.
"Are we fighting?" He asks teasing us.
"No!" Just like before, Lucifer and I yell at the same time. Realising this, we both lock eyes with each other but I don't hold it, annoyed, I roll my eyes and turn around, heading back to where my backpack is.
"What's up, Colin?" Lucifer asks after clearing his throat, calming himself from the yelling seconds ago.
"Uh—" Colin says "there's a— a spider."
"A spider?"
"Yeah."
I hear a long sigh coming from Lucifer, turning around to grab a new shirt I see that he's looking my way instead of Colin, like I last saw him. "I'll be right there." He says before starting to walk towards me.
"Thank you!" Colin yells before heading back to where he came from, leaving Lucifer and I alone again.
"I'm gonna leave it here." He leaves the shirt on the bed once he arrives next to me. "And when you realise that you're uncomfortable with your jeans, grab it, Avery."
I roll my eyes, how dare he tell me I'm the stubborn one!?
"Fuck you." I say crossing my arms on my chest, still not wanting to use his shirt.
Leaning closer to my face, I look at him confused not understanding what he's doing, but he doesn't stop, instead, a grin leaves his lips. "You'd like that, don't you?" He asks me softly.
My heart beats faster for a second but I don't stay quiet after his words like times before, the annoyance inside my body helps me recover immediately.
"I fucking hate you." I say leaning even closer.
He nods, biting his lower lip. "I'm sure you do, Avery."
And just like that, he leaves the room behind.
Ugh, asshole!
The huge need I have right now to just punch him in the face. My sweet and tiny fist hitting his chin like I've never punch anyone in my life!
No matter what I say, no matter what I do, he always has something to say! Or even worst, when I think I have him where I want he comes out even stronger or just like nothing happened, ready to wrap me around his finger. But too bad for him, even if the world was ending I wouldn't even consider letting him get what he wants.
I lay down on the bed moving his shirt to his side annoyed, with the intention to let him know that there's no fucking way I'm wearing it. Crossing my arms around my chest a long sigh comes out of my mouth, not even in a million years I'm gonna be found wearing one of his shirts. They probably smell bad and haven't been washed in weeks! Why would I wear it?!
Sleeping in my jeans isn't that bad, after all.
Well—
No, it isn't.
Fuck.
It is.
But I'm not gonna wear his shirt. What if I remove my jeans?
And then sleep on my underwear? I don't think I'm gonna appreciate having my ass out in the open with asshole Lucifer by my side. I can hide it with the sheets, but even then I move like a fish out of the water when I'm sleeping, my ass is definitely gonna be out tomorrow morning.
Then the jeans stay on!
They're itchy....
What if I just—
No!
No way. Wearing his shirt means that I'm giving Lucifer the opportunity to make fun of me by saying he's right. Fuck him and his stupid mouth! I fucking hate him.
These jeans are uncomfortable as fuck!
My eyes go directly to his shirt by my side. It looks warm—
LILITH, no!
This jeans are gonna be a nightmare to sleep in!
But an even horrible nightmare letting him believe he's right, that's for sure.
What do I do?
These jeans are gonna wake me up in the middle of the night because of how uncomfortable they are, itching every time I move or even breath. The only solution is just wearing his shirt, the worst that could happen is him making fun of me and pointing it out.
I can handle him!
I can fucking handle Lucifer Donovan and his annoying ass, why do I have to sacrifice my comfort just because of him? Fuck it! And fuck him, I'm wearing the shirt.
But he's gonna know he's right and I gave in...
Let's just give him an annoying comment when he walks in so he doesn't realise.
He's not stupid, he's gonna realise.
Yes, he is stupid.
He's not blind!
FUCK.
Tired of my head and my own thoughts, I grab the shirt shutting my own mind off. I remove my clothes with speed before he comes back, finding me changing it's gonna make it harder for me to make my move and come out with a victory.
Once everything's off, I put it on over my head as the warmth of it surrounds my body. It's so big on me that it looks like a dress, it reaches the middle of my thighs while the sleeves cover my arms until my elbows. I look like a kid playing dress up with her parents' clothes.
I take a breath in since I hear a couple of steps going towards the room. The smell of his shirt quickly enters my nose and I hate it, I fucking hate it.
It smells fucking good.
It's a mix between his cologne and his natural sent. It's sweet but noticeable, the ones that it walk passes you and your head turns around to see where it came from. It reaches my nose and then it goes to the end of my throat, wanting to take more in until it's gone. But I can't, Lucifer is now in the room with me.
His eyes go immediately over my body as I hope he didn't see me enjoying the sent of it. He quickly closes his mouth, like he was about to say something as soon as he walked into the room, but the sight of me with his shirt makes him shut his mouth. As his eyes go down my body I stay put, waiting for his comment saying I told you so, or teasing me in some sort of way. But he doesn't. Instead, he quickly clears his throat when his eyes meet mine. He walks over to the bed looking down to take off his beanie, not saying a single word to me.
I'm definitely surprised. Not even a smile or even a grin, nothing. I gave in to something he said and he's gonna stay quiet?
Did the spider bit him?
Still confused, I lay down on the bed taking my phone out of the back pocket of my jeans to place it on the nightstand.
This is weird for me, so weird, that I feel uncomfortable in my place and I sit down, still waiting for him to say something. I look over to him to find his eyes on my body once again as his hands are looking for something on his backpack.
Yes! I'm wearing your shirt like you told me! Make fun of me, damn it!
Fuck it, I'm saying something.
"I was hoping you were going to be the spider's dinner."
Lucifer locks eyes with me suddenly stopping to let out a little chuckle. "Don't sound so disappointed, I might think you don't like me." He says sarcastically taking his eyes to the backpack.
Still, nothing about me wearing his shirt?!
"You wearing the shirt makes you automatically admit that I'm right."
Ah, there it is.
"No it isn't." I say. "It means that I don't want to spend the whole night awake with your annoying body by my side, as fast as I can fall asleep the better. Ending the night as quickly as possible." I roll my eyes with the intention to turn around and cover myself with the sheets, but a laugh coming from him makes me stay still.
"You should stop lying to yourself, Lilith. Admit that I'm right, c'mon," he crosses his arms on chest looking at me "I want to hear you say it."
I furrow my eyebrows. "Say what?"
"That I'm right."
He has to be kidding me. "Not even in a million years, Lucifer. Keep dreaming."
"My dreams are not you saying that I'm right, believe me, Avery." He says with a chuckle causing me to roll my eyes, even if my heart can't help and speed at the sound of his words.
C'mon, pull yourself together!
"Are you sure? Because in my dreams I'm pushing you off a cliff, and I'm having so much fun." I smile gaining a grin from him.
"And in that dream, are you wearing my shirt?" He asks. "And are you pushing me off the cliff because you prefer that than saying I'm right?"
"No, I'm pushing you off the cliff because you just simply annoy me. That's it. And no," I shake my head "I'm not wearing your stupid shirt."
"Stupid, but you're wearing it."
"Are you go on about the shirt all night?!"
He nods, letting out a laugh. "Yeah, I am."
"I'm taking it off!" I grab the end of it getting up from the bed to remove it from my body, I prefer sleeping with no clothes on that hearing any more of his stupid comments.
"No," he says walking closer to me "don't take the shirt off, Avery." Before I can pull it over my head I feel his hands grabbing mine and pulling them down, as well as the shirt with it.
"Lucifer!" Preventing me from moving any more, one of his hands grabs my waist pulling me closer to his body. Looking up to see him I find his eyes on mine a couple of centimetres away. His breathing hits my skin as I try to find something to say, but my mind goes blank at the position we're in.
He lets out a smirk going slowly to my lips. "I never thought I was ever gonna tell you that." He says softly leaning closer to my face. Annoyed, I push him back moving his hands away from my hand. "Fuck off." I hear a laugh coming from his mouth, but I don't say anything about it, instead, I get in the bed and sit down crossing my arms on my chest as he leaves to the other side of the bed.
His audacity! First, to tell me what to do and then to say those words just like nothing! Like we weren't fighting five seconds ago. This is just a weird relationship him and I are having. Days, or even weeks ago I was weirded out by this. But right now, we spend one second fighting and then the other flirting! I'm feeling even more strange because of it. What is this?! What the hell are we doing?
Hearing him move by my side I turn to see him and oh— shit, he's taking his pants off!
"What are you doing?!" I quickly ask covering my eyes with my hand.
"What do you mean what am I doing? I sleep in my underwear."
"Not the hell you don't! Not tonight!"
"Why?"
"Why?! I'm here, Lucifer!"
He chuckles. "You get to be comfortable but I don't?"
"Sounds good to me!"
I hear him doing something but I still don't open my eyes. Seconds later, his body lays down next to me. "Don't worry, the pillows are there to prevent any unconscious touching." I can definitely hear the joke in his tone. Just by hearing it, my veins start to boil inside of me. I don't know if I'm gonna survive the rest of the night with him in the same room. "You definitely gave me less space." I hear him say out of the blue.
Finally, I open my eyes offended. "What?! I didn't!"
"Yes, you did." He gets up and stares at it from the edge of the bed. "Come here and look at it."
Doing what he says I get up from the bed and quickly walk towards him to stare at the pillows, but there's the same as I last saw them, right in the middle. "It's the same!"
He shakes his head. "No it isn't!"
"You need to get your eyes checked!"
"And you need to be less annoying and fix it!"
"You fix it!"
"Fine!" He reaches down to the bed and moves the pillows more to my side, where I can immediately see that they're not in the middle.
"That's not it! You moved them more to my side and now it's uneven!"
"No, it isn't!" He goes back to where I am to see them from my perspective, but as soon as he does, I reach done to fix them.
"There!" I move them just like I did before.
"It's the same as before!"
"Right! It's in the middle!"
"Are you blind or something Avery?!" He yells so loud that I close my eyes annoyed. My chest is breathing heavily as my head feels like it's going to explode. My wish for this weekend was to have a fun time with Ada at the beach, but if I continue with this, I'm gonna come out with charges of murder instead of relaxation over me.
"You know what, Lucifer?!" I yell turning to the other side. "I'm sleeping on the couch! Fuck this!" My feet start to take me to the door, but I only manage to make a couple steps, since Lucifer's hand grabs my wrist stopping me.
"You're not sleeping on the couch, Lilith. It's cold!" He turns me around.
"Better than being here with you!" I move his hands away. For my surprise, it doesn't take me long since he immediately lets me go and crosses his arms around his chest.
"Fine." He says with a grin. "Then I'm sleeping with you in the couch."
What's he on about?
"What? Why? You're gonna get the entire bed for you, why would you come with me?"
He slightly shrugs his shoulders. "I don't know, sounds found to have a sleep over in the freezing living room." I can't tell if he's being sarcastic or not, but it doesn't matter, he seems like he's gonna walk with me no matter what I do.
Rolling my eyes, I walk pass him and go back my side of the bed. He's literally impossible! I'm gonna ignore him for the rest of the night because I feel like I'm gonna explode if we continue.
But then, a laugh comes out of his mouth. "I like it when you do what I want." He said turning around and heading to the bed, to lay on it and cover his body with the sheets.
I've never wanted to punch someone this much.
"I hate you so much." I say firmly getting on the bed covering my legs with the sheets. Turning to the other side I let my hand rest under my head as a long breath comes out my mouth.
"Is that so?" I hear him say. He's never gonna shut up!
"Yes, you're literally the worst human being in this planet."
"Aw, that's the nicest thing you've ever said to me."
"You're unbelievable!" I quickly turn to face him finding a smile on his lips. "How can someone be so annoying?"
"I don't know," he shakes his head "ask yourself!"
"Shut up!"
"You shut up!"
"No, I'm going to have the last word!"
"No, I am!"
"No you're not!"
"Yes I am!"
"Shut up!"
"No!"
"Fuck!"
"Have a terrible night!" And finally, we both let out at the same time before turning to the other side and letting our bodies lay down on the bed.
Well, at least we both agree on something.
