CHAPTER FIFTEEN.
"i think you're gonna be my biggest fan"
MARINA - "bubblegum bitch"
My body suddenly feels the warm bed that it lays on. My skin shivers at the touch of the cold wind of the room and the softness of the sheets as my eyes are getting brighter from the light outside.
I can feel it all like I last remember yesterday. My right hand lays under the pillow getting more warmer by the seconds. All my hair is laid back, making my neck feel all the air hitting it, like I'm outside at a strange location feeling the wind rush trough it. Soon, my eyes open to fully wake my body up and see the dark brown wall that's besides the nightstand.
But something strange takes my attention first.
A heavy and still feeling on the side of my stomach makes my eyes look down to the unfamiliar sensation, finding nothing but an arm around my waist, holding me tight.
An arm? Why do I have an arm around my waist?
My heart skipping a beat makes my mind immediately realise who's arm this is.
Lucifer's.
The first thing I notice are the veins sticking out of it, the soft and warm looking skin shines under the natural light that peaks through the window. My eyes slowly trace it down and as soon as they reach to the end of it, until the hand, that's when my skin gets the feeling of it wrapped around my own hand.
But that's not the worst.
It's not his hand wrapped around mine, holding it, it's the other way around.
I see my fingers holding his as his hand lays peacefully on the bed. My brain wants to let go of it, but my body isn't moving as my eyes can't seem to move away from it. The warm feeling that it's giving me makes me want to stay like this all day, enjoy the strange tingling feeling on the pit of my stomach and the wave of comfort that is rushing throw my body.
But I can't.
This feels strange.
What am I doing holding Lucifer's fucking hand?!
I slightly turn my head to see him behind me noticing that he's still sleeping. His hair is a mess while he's chest is breathing relaxed. Again, that strange tingling feeling rushes to the pit of my stomach, but just like before, I find it strangely enough to quickly slap his arm with my right hand to wake him up.
I wait, looking at him.
Nothing.
I slap him again.
Not even a single twist on his body.
Is he serious right now?
Another slap, even harder and louder.
He lets out a longer breath out.
Well, damn!
"Lucifer." I decide to call his name, expecting to see another consequence of my action. He slightly furrows his eyebrows waking up, finally. But instead of moving away and letting me go, he pushes me even closer to his body.
"Don't go." He says softly.
My heart immediately skips another beat.
Alright, that's it!
"Lucifer?!" I yell as loud as possible to wake him up. Opening his eyes with speed, I take the opportunity of his off guard situation to move my hand away from his, get up and finally walk to the side of the bed. He sits surprised as his brain processes what just happened, but he doesn't look at me, instead, he has his eyes glued to the bed like he's slowly realising what he woke up to. "What the fuck, Lucifer?!" I finally let out.
He meets my eyes. "What do you mean me what the fuck? You what the fuck!"
I point at him. "You were grabbing my waist!"
"And you were grabbing my hand!"
At this point, I don't know if either of us knows what happened or how did we get into that position. But even worst, I'm pretty sure neither of us know why were fighting. It all happened too fast that yelling at each other seems like the right thing my brain could come up with.
The usual thing to do, I guess.
"Yours is worst!" I say as he gets up from the bed while shaking his hair back, allowing me to see his face more clearer.
"How?!"
"I don't know it just is!"
"We need to calm down," he walks closer to me "it's not like we haven't slept with each other."
"That's one thing! Having sex is completely different!"
He suddenly stops by the edge of the bed, a couple of feet away from me to lift an eyebrow and stare at me confused. "How is it different?"
I don't even know what I'm saying. My brain is currently having a malfunction and it's just programmed to do the normal thing I do when I'm with Lucifer, blame him for everything.
"Again," I shrug my shoulders "I don't know! It just is!"
"Great explanation, Lilith!" He gives me a thumbs up. "You're gonna be a great detective one day!"
Without thinking about it, I lean over on the bed to grab one of the pillows that are now messed around and throw it at him with all the strength that my body had to offer, hitting him on the stomach.
"Don't hit me with pillows, Lilith!" He yells grabbing it and pulling it to the side. But that doesn't make me want to stop, it gives me the need to throw another one.
It hits him on the chest.
"Stop!"
"Yeah, that pisses you off!?" Another one to the chest, but this one, he grabs it before it reaches his body and throws it to the side. Even if he's walking closer to me, I don't stop, I grab the last one ready to hit him again with it. Multiple times. "What are you gonna do about it?!" Closing my eyes, I don't even know where I'm hitting, I just know it is. Taking a step back making my back hit the wall, my hand still doesn't stop, worst, it's doing it with even more speed without my brain giving the command.
"Stop!" I hear him close to me.
"Or what!?" Suddenly, when my hand tries to hit him again, it doesn't manage to do it. Instead, Lucifer grabbing both of my wrists making me let go of the pillow, he places them on top of my head right against the wall.
My heart skips a beat.
I open my eyes to see those green eyes staring down at mine while his breathing is heavy, with his chest going up and down getting used to the air slipping inside. Mine is doing the same, the quick and rushed movements that I was doing before, made my body run out of breath and feel out of place when Lucifer managed to stop me.
My heart starts to speed when I realise where my hands are, above my head being grabbed by Lucifer. For the way that he's looking at me, surprise at his own actions, makes me see that he didn't know what he was doing either.
His eyes suddenly go slowly down my face until they meet my lips, allowing for my stomach to tingle again. A sudden wave of needing to get closer to him, feel his breathing deeper against my skin rushes over my body, but I don't. I stay still hypnotised by his green eyes and his hands still gently holding my wrists. They don't stay longer there, his hands trace my arms down until they reach my waist as his eyes are still on my lips.
I don't know what he's doing or why I'm not moving away, but I do know that my body is liking whatever is happening.
His right hand goes towards my cheek to caress it while our breathings are still heavy. He leans closer meeting my eyes, followed by him furrowing his eyebrows. Maybe he's as confused as I am, of our bodies connecting this way, not fighting or teasing the other, just a complete different kind of moment neither of us are used to.
Lucifer gets even closer and I know he's waiting to see my reaction, his eyes don't leave mine like he's wishing for words to come out. Or even not words, but instead, my own eyes talking to him. A long breath slips out of my mouth before my body goes back to normal, I want to understand what's happening but the tingle feeling on the pit of my stomach doesn't let me. It's so strange that it confuses me even more, making my brain go into idiot mode.
All of this, because we're close to the other, touching without thinking of the consequences of our actions.
Not even the night we slept with each other I felt like this.
His thumb leaves my cheek to go over my lips and gently touch the edge of them, his eyes go down and I take my hands towards his waist to pull him closer without my brain telling me to. It's acting on its own.
My heart can't stop beating fast, it's gonna jump out of my chest eventually. The butterflies are now in my stomach going into a riot, protesting that I'm not closer, while my chest breaths heavily and it has that weird feeling inside of it.
Makes me remember when he kissed me for the first time.
Kiss me.
I suddenly hear myself saying inside my brain. I look down to his lips and that need of doing it rushes again throw my veins. I want to, but again, I don't.
As he leans even closer touching his nose with mine, I get the sudden question of if he's gonna do it or not, he's the one that's getting closer, leaning further to the point of our breathings mixing with each other, even then, he doesn't do what I want him to do.
Does he want to?
I go back to his eyes to see that darkly shine, the same my eyes remember from the night we kissed or when I usually tease him. Filled with lust and desire, but this time, with a bit of confusion too.
At least I'm not the only one who feels strange because of this.
Our lips are barely touching, my body is screaming for more as my lips are getting the memory of them playing around together.
I want to kiss him so bad right now.
He leans closer.
Kiss me, please.
I can feel his lips touching mine like they want to taste them.
End the space, Lucifer. Now.
"Guys!" The voice of Griffin makes us both break apart from the trance we're in and for Lucifer to let go of me with speed, turning around and scratching the back of his head as soon as Griffin walks inside the room. "Yes!" He lets out a big and proud smile when his eyes are going repeatedly to Lucifer and I. "They didn't kill each other!" He claps excited while pointing at us and nodding. "I knew it, Colin owns me 20 bucks! We're gonna go to the beach right now," he turns around leaving the room "I'm so gonna make fun of him for losing! Join us as soon as you're done because I definitely want you guys to see it!"
"Uhm—" Lucifer lets out when Griffin's done talking. "I'm gonna—" He can't come out with anything to say. And to be honest, neither can I. "I'm gonna get some water, in the— in the kitchen." He isn't looking at me, but I nod anyway. Walking away after grabbing his backpack as quick as possible, he leaves me alone finally allowing me to let out the longest breath ever.
What the hell just happened between us?
We were fighting and then— that. It wasn't like last time when he immediately kissed me at the party, this time it was us enjoying each other closeness... but with confusion also in our bodies. That weird tingling feeling on my stomach, my heart speeding, my chest going like a fast ballon being blown and then blown out, almost as if made me nervous by touching and staring at me with those green and shiny eyes.
He wanted to kiss me.
But I wanted to kiss him too.
Not him wanting to fuck me or touch me, just his lips over mine tasting him like I haven't done before. I've never felt something like that with anyone... why now? And why with Lucifer?
"Lili!" Ada yells from downstairs. "Are you coming?!"
"Yeah!" I yell back. "I'll be right there!"
I need to calm myself down before I join everyone. This mess of thoughts and emotions right now can't be good.
Shaking my head side to side, I walk towards my backpack on the edge of the bed to grab a simple shirt and a jacket with the same jeans I was wearing yesterday. Looking down I remember last night... I'm still wearing his shirt. I didn't even woke up once at night because I was so comfortable, and even worst, I wasn't even cold. How come something so thin and that only covers half of my body could prevent me from feeling cold?
Maybe Lucifer's arm had been around me more time that I would like to think.
Oh, no.
I should change and move on before my mind decides to overthink again.
As soon as I remove the shirt and place my clothes on my body, I walk down the stairs expecting to see Ada, or at least anyone there, but the living room is as empty as the upstairs rooms. The door that leads to the patio and the beach is open making my skin slightly shiver at the cold wind hitting my body. I cross my arms around my chest to try and make myself warm, but it doesn't help not even a little bit.
Damn, I hate the cold weather.
"Cold?" I hear Lucifer's voice behind me, but I don't turn around to face him.
"No." I reply, firmly.
"Are you lying?" I feel his presence by my side, and I know he's smiling right now, I can tell on his own words.
I am lying. But there's no way I'm letting him know that. "No."
"Alright, and I'm Iron Man."
I fake laugh comes out of my mouth. "You wish."
"I can't be Iron Man?" For the first time since we both started talking, my eyes meet his and find a little grin on his lips, as one of his eyebrows is lifted.
I shake my head. "You're not that cool."
The cold wind entering the living room from the door hits my body, shivering my skin from head to toe. Immediately turning to it grabbing my arms tighter, the coldness of my fingertips make it even worst.
"You're gonna die if you go out with only a thin jacket."
I just shrug my shoulders. "It's a cool way to die."
"From being cold?"
"Why not? I don't have another jacket. It is what it is." With the intention to head outside and welcome my fate of being cold, I take a step towards it.
A hand grabs my arm stopping me.
"Wait—" Lucifer says making me turn around once my arm is free of his grip. Finding him taking off his jacket, my eyebrows go completely furrowed. "Have mine." With a soft tone, he says as his hand reaches closer to me while holding the said jacket. Not this again. "It's not stinky." I don't say a word. "Was my shirt stinky?"
No, it smelled fucking amazing.
"Yes."
"Really?" He smirks, something tells me he knows I'm lying. "I didn't hear you complain."
I shake my head, innocently. "I didn't want to be mean."
If I was wrong and he didn't know I was lying, he definitely knows now.
A fake chuckle leaves his mouth. "You? Yeah, next joke." He gets the jacket closer to my body. "Take it. You're gonna be cold, Avery, and you already left your pride aside by accepting my shirt. What's one more thing?" I look at it with no words coming out of my mouth. He's right, I already accepted his shirt... but if I take this, I feels like it's gonna be the end of the world and I would never stop hearing about how he helped me. Definitely my future self would hate me if I take his jacket. "Besides, you still have my jacket from the day I took you the hospital. It's alright, not your fault that you can't live without my help." He teases me.
Oh, now I'm 100% sure I won't accept his fucking jacket.
"On that note." I give him a fake smile turning around to head towards the door and walk outside. As soon as I do, the cold hits my skin even worst than before. It's so chilly that I have to caress my upper arms to look for warmth.
Fuck.
My hair flies back as the smell of the ocean enters my nose and the sound of the waves rush to my ears. If I wouldn't be freezing right now, this would be an amazing experience.
I should've taken that fucking jacket.
"It's on the couch." Lucifer whispers in my ear. Facing him, I find a little grin on his lips, proud of what he has done. I can't see much else, he walks away leaving me behind feeling cold like I've never felt before.
Fuck and double fuck.
Without thinking about it, my feet turn back to walk inside and grab Lucifer's jacket and place it on my body. Almost immediately, the warmth of it makes me feel more comfortable. Not having to wrap my arms together, looking for warmth, and for my nose to get hit by his perfume.
I'm so gonna regret this.
"Nice jacket." Ada says behind me.
I already did regret it, don't make it worst Ada.
"Got it from someone?" She appears by my side with a little smile on her lips.
I hate this.
I nod. "A dead man I found on the side of the house."
Ryker arrives on my other side. "You're disturbing."
I smile. "Thank you." Ryker leaving the house before us, Ada wraps her arm around with mine taking me outside. It's definitely better with Lucifer's jacket, but there's no way I'm gonna tell him that.
"So?" Ada asks me when we leave the patio, entering the beach.
"So?" I reply, confused.
"Slept good?" A little grin is formed on her lips. She wants me to talk about Lucifer and tell her about something that she knows happened. For the way that she thinks, I'm sure she believes something had to happened between Lucifer and I last night, it didn't, more this morning if we think about it. But if I just play it normal, she will let it go. Or at least I hope so.
Who am I kidding? We're talking about Ada here.
"Yeah." I nod innocently doing it anyway. "What about you?"
"No, no." She shakes her head. "I'm asking you."
"Yes, yes. And I replied."
She lifts an eyebrow. "Did anything happened?"
There it is.
"More than us fighting? No."
"What about this morning?"
We almost kissed, but... nothing important. "No."
Ada doesn't reply immediately and that surprises. Taking my eyes to see her, I notice that she's not looking my way, instead, her eyes are located on something behind me. I want to see what she's so focused looking at, but the smile that suddenly forms on her lips makes me stay with my eyes on her.
What's she on about?
"Are you sure about that?" She asks and I finally turn my head to see what has her attention, finding a pair of green eyes staring at me. Lucifer is by Colin's and Griffin's side while they're having their one little conversation. He looks down at the jacket as a smirk appears on his lips, extremely proud, like he just won the lottery by cheating.
I'm definitely gonna hear about it later.
"That doesn't seem nothing to me." Ada says getting my attention. Turning to her, I get ready to turn the situation against her.
"What about you and Ivy? Finally had that threesome you have been asking me?" I joke, but Ada doesn't laugh, she playfully pushes the side of my arm rolling her eyes.
"You're funny."
"Thank you. That's why we're best friends, I'm funny and you recognise it."
"I was being sarcastic."
A dramatic fake gasp leaves my mouth, causing her to roll her eyes one more time. "Noooooo, really?"
"You looooove changing the subject when I'm talking about Lucifer."
I nod with a disgusting expression. "Yes, because every time you do I feel like I'm gonna vomit."
"Really?" A fake chuckle comes from her mouth. "You didn't had that feeling when you slept with him. Did you?"
I— did she just?
Yeah, she did.
"You're gonna see it eventually." She adds causing me to open my mouth surprised at her prior comment, taking me a couple of seconds to realise what she said. "And you'll thank me, Lilith."
"Thank you for what? Annoying me?" Ada does let out a laugh after it this time. She hugs me, bringing me tightly to her body.
"You love me."
"Yes I do," I nod "and you're lucky."
"You need me. Otherwise with who are you gonna go to Italy and be that rich cool girl that has breakfast on her aesthetic balcony?"
That's a dream that me and her thought about years ago. I can't believe I forgot all about it.
"Remember when we wanted to do that?" I ask letting out a little smile.
She nods. "We came up with that plan when we were drunk at 3 am in the morning, we also decided that we wanted to become farm girls."
"I'm glad that we decided to keep the Italy dream, I don't know if I could handle the farm life."
"I don't imagine you either. I see you fighting a chicken if they're mean."
I immediately nod. The ugly memory of when I was five comes to my head. "I would. When I was a kid one bite me, they're little evil creatures." She lifts an eyebrow. "It did!"
"What did you do?"
"Nothing!" Ada stays quiet. She doesn't believe my lie, not even a little bit. "Alright! I was poking at it but it was a friendly poke! That chicken had no reason to bite me whatsoever."
"Italy it is, then."
"Yes, and make Italian men cook for us." I give her my hand for her to shake. "Deal?"
"Deal." Before I could shake Ada's hand, a pair of hands grabbing my shoulders and pulling me back makes me move away from my best friend. Confused, my head turns around to find a very concerned Colin.
"Lilith, Lilith, Lilith, Lilith." He says while looking around.
"Colin? What the fuck?"
"I need you, I need you, I need you." His voice is almost a whisper, it takes me a couple of seconds to understand what's he saying. Wrapping his arm around mine, for the first time since he arrived, he turns to face Ada by my side, confused as I am. "Can I burrow Lilith for a minute?"
She slowly nods. "She's all yours."
I quickly turn to her and shake my head. "No, save me." I whisper to her, but it's too late, Colin is already taking me away from her to an unknown place on the beach.
"Oh, no, no, no, no." Colin makes me look away from Ada to see that Lucifer is casually walking inside the house, leaving the beach behind. But then I turn to Colin, who frustratedly shakes my arm.
"What's wrong with you?" I ask furrowing my eyebrows. He's looking around like a serial killer running away from the cups, or even worst, like a cheater running away from his girlfriend just finding out his dark secret.
"One of my exes is here." He finally says turning to lock eyes with me.
"Here here?"
"Yes, here here!"
"And what do you need me for?"
"Be my girlfriend!"
Hearing his sudden words, they immediately make me open my eyes widely as I stop out walk, surprised. "What?!"
"Just for five minutes!" He regains our walk. "And you can't say no, I kinda just told her that you already were."
"Kinda?!"
"Yes!"
"Why would you do that?!"
"She always tries to sleep with me every time we walk pass each other, and even though I've told her before that it's over she keeps thinking I'm gonna say yes!"
This sounds like a stupid and childish game, but coming from Colin, I'm not very much surprised to be quite honest.
"And me being your girlfriend will prevent her from being all over you?"
"No," he quickly shakes his head causing me to get even more confused, Colin sees this "but I know if she tries something you'll kill her if you really commit to your part—" He has a point. I'm about to open my mouth and say something back to him, but Colin stopping our walk, make me look at the person that we have right in front of us. "Hi!" Colin says brining me tightly to his body.
This is going to be a long conversation.
"Colin!" The girl says giving him a big smile, completely ignoring my presence by his side. "Where did you go?"
"This is my girlfriend!" Colin yells letting go of my arm to place it around my shoulders, and in the process, uniting the tip of the side our heads together. "Lilith!"
"Oh." The girl says when her eyes meet mine. I smile at her but she doesn't do the same, instead, her eyes go up and down my body like she's looking for every bad thing in me possible. "Is this her?"
"Nice to meet you, and yes... I'm Colin's girlfriend." I try my hardest to not get the need of shaking her head for her eyes to not do that again, I've always found it so irritating when people did that, so I contain myself giving her a friendly handshake.
"Jessica." She says, with the fakest smile I've ever seen.
I smile back. "Pretty name."
"Yes." She nods, rolling her eyes and going back to Colin. If Colin was actually my boyfriend, this girl wouldn't even have her eyes to be able to stare at him right now. "Are you here with everyone? Paul and Bobby too?"
"Yes! Yes!" Colin quickly nods. He's clearly nervous. "All of them, and my girlfriend Lilith." He hugs me tightly as I struggle to breath for a second, but I don't complain, I don't think it's gonna help Colin with this clearly not very nice woman.
"That's nice." Jessica nods annoyed at me. Quicker than the wind, a smile goes back to her face in control of every expression her face makes. "Bianca is here too."
"Oh, fuck." I hear Colin say, but there's not much anyone can say after that, since the yell of an excited girl hits my ears.
"Luci!" A girl with a long brunette hair appears by our side. She isn't looking out way, instead, she has her eyes glued to the house while her hand is dramatically waving.
Damn, girl— it looks like your wrist is gonna jump out of your body. "It's been so long! What have you been up to?!" She runs towards someone and I immediately try to not let out the biggest smile ever because... Luci, I can't believe I forgot about that nickname for Lucifer.
Talking about him, as soon as he sees Bianca his eyes go wide open before he tries to walk back to the house and get inside. But it's too late, Bianca wraps her arm around his. "Still riding that motorcycle? You still owe me a ride, you silly boy!"
Silly boy?! I'm so gonna make fun of him because of that later on.
"And still working out I see." When my eyes follow her hand massaging his upper arm, a weird tingling feeling touches my insides. It's weirdly strange and it doesn't go away not even when I move my eyes from Lucifer and Bianca. "That's wonderful." I hear her say and I can't help but look back at them, she's more closer to him while Lucifer simple nods with a smile and looks down to the sand. When Bianca lets her head rests on his shoulder, that same feeling hits the pit of my stomach, I go into a dark hole of trying to figure out what it is that I suddenly stop thinking about Colin and what am I suppose to do to get Jessica away from him.
What is it?
It's not butterflies, I've felt them multiple times with Lucifer before and it feels nothing like this. Nerves? Why would I be nervous seeing Bianca touching Lucifer's arm?
Nothing comes to my mind on why this weird tingle feeling annoys my stomach. I want it to go away, but the more I stare at her hand caressing his arm, it grows even bigger.
"You've been a working out too, Colin."
"Lilith?!" Colin's yell does make me turn around and remember that I have to kill her if she tries something. Finding her hand doing the same thing as Bianca, I immediately grab it, moving it away.
"Yes! My boyfriend Colin has been working out too, no need to feel it."
"What?" The voice of Lucifer enters the conversation for the first time. I turn to face him finding nothing but confusion and shook in his eyes. When they he go to Colin's arm around my shoulders, I suddenly get the feeling of moving it away. But I don't think that's gonna help Colin either. "Boyfriend?" Lucifer asks going back to my eyes. I can't quite understand what's that strange shine he has in them, it's not the type that I've seen before or even ignored, it's something different.
"Why are you so confused, Luci?" Jessica asks locking eyes with Colin.
"Yes, why are you so confused Luci? Lilith has been my girlfriend for months now!" Colin replies trying to cover up the lie. He grabs my waist and just like last time, hugs me tightly.
"Yes, girlfriend!" I add without my brain thinking about it.
"Griffin!" I hear Bianca yell once again. Following where she's looking at, I find Griffin not hiding that he's surprised seeing them, and worst, annoyed. Pretending that he has a call from his phone, Griffin goes back to the house to get rid of them.
I want to laugh at him but I eat it in, not desiring to make Griffin look suspicious.
"How long have you guys been here?" Bianca asks leading my eyes go to her. She's still caressing his arm as Lucifer opens his mouth to reply, but nothing enters my ears, I'm way too focused on her hand. That weird feeling is back, and this time, it's not alone, my chest feels heavy as my mind gets the scene of me moving her hand away, pushing her and caressing his arm myself.
What was that?
Why did I imagine that?
I hate Lucifer.
I despise Lucifer.
I want to hypothetically kill Lucifer.
Why do I want to push her away and do that myself?
"At least pretend that you don't want to kill her for the sake of the lie." Colin whispers in my ear making me snap from my own head.
"What?"
"It's a shame that we can't stay over for the party!" Jessica says touching Colin's arm giving him puppy eyes.
"Yes," he nods "such a shame." If Jessica didn't catch his sarcasm then she can't be that bright, I know even Ada heard a couple of feet away from us.
"It would've been a really good opportunity to go back and remember the old days." She caresses his arm with more strength until her hand reaches his shoulder. I see how Colin's eyes go even wider each second panicking, he grabs my shoulders and pushes me closer.
"Lilith is so beautiful, isn't she?!" He yells so loudly, my brain felt his words.
My mouth gets closer to his ear. "She's not that far you don't have to yell, Colin." I whisper to then give Jessica a smile.
"She is." She says, annoyed.
Even if she doesn't mean it, I still take the compliment. I am beautiful, thank you very much.
"Such a sweet girl too! Aren't you, beautiful?" Colin seems to be freaking so much that he's staring to come up with things to say for Jessica to finally go away, and I can't blame him, even after all of that, this girl is still caressing his arm.
"I never thought you liked sweet girls, Colin. You were always into the bad girls." She smiles but Colin doesn't give her the opportunity to do anything else, instead, he grabs the side of my head and places it on his shoulder.
I want to slap his hand but I contain it.
Being his fake girlfriend is tiring.
"We're thinking about moving in together!"
Jessica's smile finally disappears. "That's soon, isn't it?"
"I love her! I love her so much I just couldn't wait to ask! We just looooove each other so much!" His hand goes lower on my back as he gives my forehead a kiss, I immediately turn to his ear and whisper: "Hand."
"Sorry." He replies without taking the smile from his lips. Looking at Colin and asking myself how can someone like him end up in a situation like this, my eyes make their way towards Lucifer. Finding him already looking at my eyes with that familiar green shine,I stop and wonder them for a bid, he doesn't have that same look from before, instead, his eyes don't shine as his his jawline is clenched, strongly. The girl is going on and on about something, but Lucifer's all focused is on me and Colin. He can't stop staring, and to be honest, I can't either.
The way that he's looking at me with his heavy chest makes me have a weird feeling on my chest. It feels heavy as my heart beats a little bit faster, I want to go and ask him what's he looking at. But I stay still. Crossing my arms around my chest I notice how Lucifer's eyes go down to my waist where Colin's hand still is, his jawline goes even more tense. He discreetly rolls his eyes to then say something to Bianca, who nods and gives him a smile and a kiss on the cheek. The tingle appears again but I don't think much about it, since my eyes follow Lucifer until he disappears inside the house.
"Well," Jessica gets my attention "I guess we'll just leave."
Colin nods. "Good idea."
"But just so you know," she says taking a step closer to him "when this doesn't work out.... I'll be waiting." She winks at him and immediately turns around, leaving everyone behind.
I open my mouth surprised at her words and shake my head, this is fake but how dare she?! "I'm not dating you but I still got offended by that. What a home wrecker!"
"I know!" Colin quickly nods. "She just doesn't get that it's over between us."
"Lilith!" I hear Ada's voice calling my name. Turning my head to face her, i find her walking towards the house. "I'm going inside!"
I nod. "Alright!"
Without waiting another second on that beach, Colin wraps his arm with mine making us both follow Ada. "Thank you for that, Lilith."
"Don't worry about it, just might need a heads up next time you need me to your 'we're ready to move in together' girlfriend."
"Noted." Colin looks around for a couple of seconds. Not finding what he's looking for, his eyes meet mine giving me a side smile. "I might have to talk to Lucifer now."
"Why?" I ask intrigued.
He slowly shakes his head. "Nothing."
I'm even more intrigued. The image of Lucifer before getting inside the house comes back to my head, I can't help but wonder what was that all about, and if that has to do with why Colin wants to talk to him. "I'm gonna get a water," I say once we both cross the door "all that jealousy got me thirsty."
Receiving a nod from Colin I unwrap our arms to make my way inside the very white kitchen. Every time I walk inside of it, I have to squint my eyes a little bit since the change of lighting troubles my eyes. It doesn't take me long to see that Lucifer is inside there as well pouring some juice into a glass.
He seems... normal? He doesn't look like he's clenching his jawline like before or rolling his eyes. I can't see his eyes, but I have a feeling they're not shining like I remember.
I hesitate on walking towards the refrigerator since it's behind him, why? I don't know. My body gets confused on its place on what to do. Everything that has happened this weekend with him seems to have accumulated on my body and it's just now affecting me. Everything is just a mess and it makes me stand still, like a person who just seen a ghost.
"Having fun?" Lucifer's raspy and low voice takes me off guard. He doesn't ask the question with life in it, just plane and empty without even looking at my eyes. Because of that, it takes me a couple of seconds to get my self together and just simply tilt my head to the side.
"I don't know if you consider fake dating Colin as fun." I jokingly say, finally deciding to walk towards the refrigerator and take a bottle water out.
"Seems like you liked it."
I smile. "You believed it, I'm just that great of an actor."
He shrugs his shoulders, still not turning around to face me. "Sure." He replies softly. Walking to his side I try to find his eyes by tilting my head to his side, but taking the glass of juice to his mouth he turns to the other side of the counter.
What's up with him?
"Bianca got to you?" I let out without thinking. "You seem a little bit tense."
"Bianca has nothing to do with me, and I'm perfectly fine." He replies quickly without taking a breath in. For the first time since we both found ourselves in the kitchen, he locks eyes with me. There's definitely no shine in them as they stare empty at me, or even worst, like he hates what he's seeing.
"Tell that to your eyes, fire is gonna come out of them at any minute. Let me know and I'll call Griffin to ask if he has a fire extinguisher in this house." I joke again to losen up the tension around him, but he doesn't even let out a chuckle.
"Can't you be funny someone else?"
"Not until four." I joke again, but just like before, he doesn't even move his lips to make a smile. "C'mon, what's up with you?"
"And you care what's up with me? Why don't you just go back to your fake dating with Colin?" I don't know if he intended to sound as angry as he sounded. But the way that he lets out a long breath after, tells me that he maybe didn't.
"Alright, this is weird. I'm the one who has to be annoyed at you, not the other way around."
"Is everything just a big joke to you?"
"Helps me get through life, maybe!"
Lucifer rolls his eyes. "Figures." He's starting to get on my nerves.
"Figures what, Lucifer? What are you on about?"
"Forget about it." He replies turning away from me and heading to the door, but with quick steps I follow him and manage to grab his arm stopping him from leaving.
"No, I want you to tell me. What's with you?"
"Nothing's with me, Lilith." He brusquely turns to face me. "Nothing. Aren't we used to fighting all the time?"
"Yes, but with a reason! Not you suddenly being an asshole!"
A fake chuckle leaves his mouth. "I'm the asshole? What about you with Colin?"
"How does pretending to be Colin's girlfriend to save his ass make me an asshole?!"
"It doesn't!"
"So why are you angry at me right now?!"
"Because—!" He immediately stops, like he can't let out what he's thinking. Closing his eyes as a long breath comes out of his nose, I wait impatiently for him to continue, but he doesn't. He just places his hands on the side of his waist and opens his eyes to meet mine, still, no words from his mouth.
"Lucifer." I familiar girl's voice talks from the frame of the door.
Ruby.
What's she doing here?
"Fuck." I hear Lucifer say in a whisper before turning around, letting me see Ruby standing there confused.
"Lilith?" She asks as soon as she meets my eyes. "What are you doing here? I didn't know you were invited to the party."
I smile while lifting my hands in the air and gently shaking them. "Surprise."
"Luci, are you alright?" She asks completely ignoring me while walking to Lucifer, but he heads to the door and smiles at her, giving her a kiss on the cheek.
"I'm fine. Nice to see you, Ruby."
"Nice to see you too." She replies even more confused at the kiss. I stay still, getting that strange tingle on the pit of my stomach once again.
Go away.
Go fucking away, now.
Following Lucifer with my eyes as he walks out of the kitchen soon followed by Ruby, I roll my eyes and let m a long breath out to calm myself down.
How come in a matter of just an hour things can drastically change in a person?
What the hell happened in the middle that got him acting this way towards me?
"Fighting?" Colin's voice snaps me out of my thoughts.
"No." I shake my head locking eyes with him.
He lifts an eyebrow. "Are you sure?"
"Yes, why does everyone keep questioning me today?" My tone comes out more annoyed that I intended to. Colin has nothing to do with whatever Lucifer is angry about, let's not take it out on the poor boy I have in front of me.
"Jesus— What kind of moody bug bite you?"
The Lucifer bug.
"I don't know, apparently I'm an asshole."
"What?"
I shake my head. I seriously don't want to get into this. "Don't worry about it."
"Was Lucifer upset?" Looks like Colin does anyway, more than I am. His tone screams intrigued. I nod. "Why?"
"No clue. He probably got high or something."
Smiling like the crazy cat, Colin stares at my eyes with no words coming out of his mouth. Now his has gone crazy too?! It looks like Lucifer got high with him! "My plan's working." He finally says confusing me even more.
"What plan?"
He doesn't reply. Instead, touching my chin with his index finger to slightly lift it up, he smiles to then wink at me, happily. "Get ready for the party, beautiful!" Turning around to walk away from the kitchen, he leaves me even more confused that before.
I'm starting to believe that this entire group gets high without telling me!
