CHAPTER EIGHTEEN.
"you say we're just friends but i swear when nobody's around"
khalid — "better"
"Are you sure Griffin and Colin aren't here?" I ask as soon as I step out of Lucifer's motorcycle and my eyes locate in front of me his apartment building.
"Yes."
When he leaves the helmets hanging from the handle, the smile that suddenly appears on his face makes me question what the hell is he thinking.
"What?"
"You don't trust yourself on being quiet?" He finally asks stepping closer to me.
I immediately shake my head. "No, I'm trying to see if this the perfect opportunity to kill you. I have a plan."
Leaving my side, he tilts his head to the side. "It's alright, I get it." He ignores my comment. "Once I'm in between your legs there's not stopping you."
"Lucifer!" I slap the side of his head playfully, but my words only cause him to let out a loud laugh and enjoy himself even more.
"How I love it when you scream my name."
"Asshole."
He nods opening the front door, letting me walk in first. "Thank you. Don't worry, Avery. Griffin is hanging out with Paul and Colin is sleeping with a girl."
We both start to go up the stairs. "He told you that?"
"No, he told me he was gonna be studying. But he doesn't tell me that unless he's in some girl's bed."
"Sounds like him." I nod. Quickly, his words about Paul and Griffin come together in my head, so I can't help but ask: "Hey— what's up with Griffin and Paul?"
"What about them?"
"Are they a thing?"
"I don't know. He didn't tell me things were getting serious."
"Is there a thing to get serious?"
Stepping out of the stairs into that familiar dark and cold hallway, Lucifer shrugs his shoulders. "Maybe." He takes the key out of his back pocket giving me a quick look. "What's the interest?"
"Just being noisy." I simply answer. "They seem to like each other, I got that back at Griffin's beach house."
Quickly opening the door, he lets me walk inside once again. Meeting the living room I've seen twice, the smell of cologne enters my nose. "Paul is the type to fall quickly," I hear Lucifer dropping the keys on the side table from the door before walking to the kitchen, disappearing from my sigh. "Griffin is more the type to just fool around with everyone." He says from a far. I follow him to find out what he's doing, but I only see him waiting for me as his waist lays on the counter on the right side of the kitchen.
"I thought Colin was the type to fool around." I admit, copying his position but on the left side.
He shakes his head as a chuckle leaves his mouth. "They're both the type." Lucifer replying softly and going silent makes me think about what we're both doing here. Why I came to his apartment... And here we are, talking about Paul and Griffin like me and him in this situation is the most normal thing in the world. It's weird. I have to admit it. Him and I not fighting and just talking normally like just two friends hanging out, it tingles something inside of me telling me that's it wrong.
But I can't help it. I came here for a reason, and my body knows it. "What about you?" I ask, letting out a tiny grin. "Are you the type?"
He follows my action and grins, crossing his arms on his chest. "Why would you like to know?" I don't reply, just shrug my shoulders slowly. "Just being noisy?"
"I can't help but be intrigued on the half hour Donovan." My words come out before I can even think them. It wouldn't be truth if I said I forgot all about that. Even worst, the night that we all came back from the beach house it was all I could think about, with the fact that we're doing this, the hate/sex relationship that we agreed on and clearly are willingly giving in.
Without replying, taking three steps, Lucifer is already in front of me. His right hand grabs my waist and pulls me closer, ending with my lips on the edge of his. Our breathings are mixing, feeling our chest touch, he leans his chin down just a bit locking eyes with mine.
Lucifer's smile goes bigger. "Are you intrigued?" He asks almost in a whisper.
I nod, brushing our lips together. "Yeah." My heart speeds as the growing desire of kissing him rushes through my veins.
"What do you want to know?" He asks me when his thumb of his left hand gently traces my bottom lip, moving it softly.
Kiss me.
"Would you rather me show it to you?" His whisper brushes against my skin, inevitably giving me goosebumps.
My hands touch the side of his waist, pulling him closer to my body. "Show me what?" I lift my chin to help me get the control of the teasing and brush his lips with mine, but his thumb going down to the side of my neck, he immediately turns the power of my face on him.
"Me making you feel good." He whispers out.
The butterflies on my stomach go wild mixing with the familiar, yet weird tingle feeling on the pit of it. My head asks me to let him know I want him to kiss me, end the space between us and fill that unbreakable desire that I have.
My heart speeds again, almost making me feel like it's gonna jump out of chest right on the palm of his hands. It's so unbearable that my breathing goes quicker, filling my chest in and out. His thumb goes back to my lips gently caressing them, not stopping his teasing again by brushing our lips together and tilting his head to the side, allowing our noses to hit each other.
Fucking kiss me.
My head screams at this point. But I don't move, he's the one that has to end the space. Not me.
I'm not gonna lose.
Letting out a grin, my eyes follow how he licks his lips and moves back slightly, leaving me missing his closeness immediately. Taking a step back, my eyes stare at him confused, but all he does is smile at me and walk towards the fridge.
Hold on— what was that?
"Do you want something to drink?" He asks as if nothing had happened seconds ago.
"Hold on—" I say lifting my index finger, still confused "you're not gonna just walk pass that after what you just did like you didn't just do what you just did."
I hear a chuckle coming from his mouth. "What?"
"I don't know."
Leaning once again on the counter, he crosses his arms on his chest giving me a smile. "If we're gonna do this, we need to think of a safe word."
I lift an eyebrow. "A safe word?"
"In case you need me to stop."
"I know what a safe word is, idiot. I need you to stop? What if you need me to stop?" He doesn't respond. Instead, a grin appearing on his lips makes me question if he can't believe he'll ever want me to stop. "Alright, Mr. Half an hour," I roll my eyes "calm your tits down."
He shakes his head while a laugh escapes his mouth. "It's not that."
"Then what is it?" He doesn't reply again. Giving me nothing with a deep stare at my eyes, he bites his lower lip and slightly shakes his head. I don't know what's he thinking and it's killing me inside. The silence annoys me, so, I can't help but ask: "Are you in some Christian Grey kinky shit?"
He opens his eyes widely. "What— no!"
"You didn't respond!"
"And that made you believe that I like, what, spanking you?" He chuckles.
I shrug my shoulders. "I don't know! For the record, I don't like spanking. What am I? A horse? Spank me and I'll spank you back... and not in a sexy way."
He nods, still chuckling. "Got that. You pick the safe word."
"Spoon."
"What?"
"It's the first thing that came into mind."
"Spoon?"
"Yeah— oh, no, wrong hole!" I joke loudly. "Spoon spoon spoon! You know?"
While he laughs at my joke, the weird tingling feeling troubles the pit of my stomach. It's so annoying.
You better go away.
"You're funny."
I nod. "I know."
"Another one."
"Why? Did you had word that with another girl? What a whore!" I joke again.
His laugh tingles my body. Fuck! "No—"
I roll my eyes. "Slut."
"Pick another one."
"Joseph."
"What?"
"Yeah, I like Joseph."
"Why?"
"Why not? C'mon, if I say another guy's name in the bedroom you're gonna definitely stop. It works!"
He shakes his head. "That's gonna make me look at every Joseph I meet differently."
"Yes! And it's gonna make you remember how much you hate me because of it. It works perfectly!"
"Pick another one."
Ugh.
I roll my eyes. "You suck."
"Yes, because my dream in life is you screaming another guy's name while I'm the one fucking you."
My heart drops to my stomach.
I'm the one fucking you.
Why did that gave me butterflies?
"What about another girl?" I continue, trying to ignore what's going on inside my body. "Petunia."
He lifts an eyebrow. "Like the aunt in Harry Potter?"
Oh, yeah. I forgot. I don't want to ruin the movies for me.
"Yeah, no." I shake my head. "Let me pick another one...Nachos? I'm hungry."
"Really? Nachos?"
"I really like nachos!"
"It has to be a word that you're comfortable with!"
"I'm comfortable with nachos!"
"Avery, you're seriously considering making our safe word Nachos?!"
"Yes! Why not?!" I suddenly stop in silence keeping my eye contact with Lucifer. The shine in them brings a word to my head like a fast truck, making me let out a smile. "I know— fire."
He slowly nods. "It's easy. It goes with our names..."
I point at him. "Hell!"
"Fire it is."
Finally!
"Now that we got that out of the way, want that drink?"
Leaving the counter Lucifer walks to the fridge. Before he can open it, my mouth is already opening to let out my next words. "Maybe we can save it for later." I say tilting my head to the side looking for his eyes. Doing what I was expecting, locking eyes with me a grin immediately appears on his lips. He doesn't wait a second, walking closer to me, he grabs my waist and pulls me closer, but doesn't end the space between us. Our lips are slightly touching where I can feel the air coming out of our mouths mixing together.
My chest speeds up as well as my heart.
How come he manages to make me want to kiss him and feel like this so fucking fast?
Dropping his right hand to my ass he lifts me up and rests my body on the counter. I open my legs to get him comfortable in front of me while my hands fly towards his cheeks. Lucifer, already taking the control of the situation and my body, grabs the side of my neck and pulls my head up a little bit for my eyes to lock deeper with his. My lips go slightly open getting the need to feel the warmth that he never fails to give me. But he doesn't kiss them, no matter how much I can see in his eyes that he wants to.
"It's so hot to see you needing me." Lucifer says against my lips with a grin sending goosebumps to my skin.
"Don't claim your win." I reply, copying his grin. "Your eyes are terrible of hiding what they want."
"I don't have a problem admitting it. I want you so bad I'm glad we left the gym, otherwise I would've never be able to recover from what we could've done." He's so hot with his words that no matter how much I want to control myself and my need of having him on the palm of my hand, my eyes go down to his lips making the desire of kissing him even bigger. "Never be able to concentrate on my training there ever again."
"And what about now?" I ask. "You don't mind this place?"
"I don't worry." He smirks brushing his thumb against my lips. "Because if it where for me, I would concentrate on you in my bedroom all day."
And just like that, he leaves my face missing his closeness and my heart speeding from his words once again.
"Oh, fuck you." Giving me a wink, he finally turns around heading towards the living room. "Where are you going?!" I yell for him to come back, but once he's out the door, his body doesn't reappear on my sight. "Dude!"
"Follow me and find out!"
I jump from the counter to stand on my feet again. Walking inside the living room I find nothing but an empty space. "If you leave me like that one more time—!"
"You're gonna do what, Avery?" He cuts me off playfully.
He's on the right side of the apartment. Following his voice to the hallway, my feet take me there without giving my brain a second thought.
"Remember that I told you I have a plan to kill you!? It's very detailed and you can trust me when I say I know how to hide a body without getting caught!" The hallway is dark, there's no much light than a tiny yellow bulb illuminating the long corridor. The walls are dark green while the doors are black.
"Lucifer! I've never been to this side of your house— shit this is big!" I say but quickly add, realising my words. "Don't say anything to that!"
The first door that I see on the left side it's the bathroom, walls are white with a marble counter taking the job of holding the sink. I walk pass it since Lucifer isn't there. The second door still on the left side, it's closed and I don't dare to come inside the room, I get the feeling he isn't there either. First door now on the right side, it has an old sticker with the letter G, probably Griffin's room. From the corner of my eyes, the second to last room it's opened letting the light coming from it slightly shine the hallway. Stopping my walk, my eyes direct themselves to the last closed door. It's on the wall that ends the hallway, right in front of me. Regaining my walk, my feet take me to the opened one, it has to be that one.
I swear if Lucifer is not there I'm gonna kill him. What are we playing at? Hide and seek?
"Lucifer! I swear if you're doing this to scare me I'm just gonna to remind you that I've seen dead bodies. Nothing scares me anymore!"
As I'm getting closer, the sound of someone walking around the room hit my ears. He said that nobody's here, so if that's not Lucifer, then they have a serious case of haunting in the apartment.
"Lucifer!" I yell when my feet arrive by the door. Quickly, a hand covering my mouth prevents it from letting out anything else.
Lucifer takes his index finger towards his mouth saying to me that I shouldn't say a word. Confused, my eyes turn to the side noticing that he's holding his phone against his ear.
"Yes, coach, I have it."
Oh, damn— It's Covaliov.
Call me evil or a mean bitch— or troublemaker, whatever, but I truly need to tease him right now.
Not a simple tease where I start touching him slightly, worst. Oh, yeah, so much worst.
"It doesn't matter that they think it's true. That's not enough." I hear his words, but as soon as they enter one ear, they leave the other. All my mind is focused right now is my little innocent game.
Stepping closer as he has his eyes on mine, I take my lips closer to his. Lucifer immediately tenses up but doesn't move back, instead, his eyes can't help but move down to see my lips. That means it's definitely working.
"Yeah—" He says getting distracted. My hands grab his waist caressing them up and down, they trace back to bring him closer as I lift my chin up and open my mouth slightly to brush my lips against his. He doesn't move, it's like he's frozen and waiting impatiently for my next move. "Mmh." Lucifer nods with his eyes still on my lips. I can't help but smile, it's so fucking easy.
My mouth lets out a long breath out to let it touch his skin. I don't stay there to see his reaction, I walk to his back and wrap my arms around his waist. Leaving him kisses on his back, his head turns to the side to see me as I move on his body. Caressing with my fingers down to his pelvis, I slightly lift his shirt for my fingertips to tease the edge of his underwear. "No—" I can hear how Covaliov is going on and on on the phone, but it's all mumbling for me since his phone isn't on speaker.
I go down even deeper inside his underwear, his hand stops me by grabbing my wrist tightly moving his arm back. A long breath comes out of his mouth while he closes his eyes making me let out a smile, it's so satisfying seeing him like this because of me.
"What?" I whisper once I get on my tip toes and my mouth is up against his free ear. "You don't want me?"
He mumbles fuck silently as he opens his eyes and looks down at my hands on his skin. "Please, Lucifer." I try to sound needy. "Lucifer..." I fake a low moan out.
"Mhm." He says replying to Covaliov again while biting his lower lip. He's trying so hard to keep it together.
Time to make it worst.
"I want you to fuck me, right now." I demand, still in a whisper. "Make me feel so fucking good like only you can." I can't stop, he's losing it. His chest speeds up, getting filled with air quicker than I can let out a smile proudly. "You feel so good when you're inside of me. Please," I whimper out "fuck me, Lucifer." Another fake moan leaves my mouth.
"Fuck—" the word escapes his mouth and I can tell he didn't mean to by the way he quickly widens his eyes and clears his throat. "Sorry, Covaliov." He says. "Don't worry about it. I got— I gotta go. Mhm."
"Lucifer.." I tease. "I want to scream your name so bad."
"Coach, I truly have to go." He sounds so needy.
"You better hang up before I let out a louder moan, Donovan."
"Yes, I get it. Yes, I know—"
My fingers start to go down again. "A girl won't be waiting all night."
"Covaliov—"
A brush my lips against his ear while a low fake moan shakes the pit of my throat. "Fuck."
That seems to be it for him since he can't control himself anymore. Without hanging the phone call he brusquely turns around and grabs the side of my neck to bring me closer and stop on the edge of my lips. Letting out a smile, I look down to them proudly of what I've done.
Lucifer, still with his speeding chest, moves his thumb to caress my bottom lip and let out a grin.
I guess he liked my game.
"Couch, I'm getting an important call. Call you in five?" He asks as he looks down to my lips. "Yes, right now..." And finally, he moves the phone away from his ear to leave it on his back pocket. "You're so gonna regret this."
I can't help but smile. "Call him back in five minutes?" I tease. "Only five minutes? I thought if it were for you you would concentrate on me all day."
He copies my smile as he tilts his head to the side, leaning closer to my lips. "He wasn't gonna shut up. So in these five minutes I intend to pick you up and open up your fucking legs for me to start working on you... while I speak to him. I guess you're gonna have to be quiet after all, love."
Not giving me a chance to reply, Lucifer lifts me up taking me to the bed in the middle of the room. The black cold cover hits my back as soon as he rests my body on it. He crushes his lips into mine giving my stomach the wild run of the butterflies coming back. I wrap my arms around his neck to get used to the kiss getting quicker, but as soon as I do, he leaves my lips to trace down to my stomach leaving kisses in the process.
All I can hear is the sound of his lips on my skin and our heavy breathings. He doesn't stop when he arrives at my waist, instead, he grabs the side of my jeans and gently pulls them down. I lift my waist to help him even if he's capable of doing it without it.
Tossing them aside, Lucifer locks eyes with me sending goosebumps down my spine. Letting out a grin he leans down to my lower waist leaving soft yet deep kisses on my skin. I have to let out a long breath out, his touch makes my heart speed.
I want him to go lower feeling the need for him grow between my legs. With his big hands, Lucifer grabs the side of my body and pulls me down for him to be comfortable on the edge of the bed and reach up to my lips. Feeling the heat suddenly going to my cheeks, I'm glad that he ended the space between us to place his lips against mine.
The kiss is hot and slow, almost making me feel the hotness of it in my entire body. I grab the side of his cheek to take a little bit of the control. Opening my mouth once he responds, I slip my tongue inside to play with his, it goes down and up like they're both trying to explore the other like there's no tomorrow.
Not thinking about it, my legs wrap themselves around his waist to pull him closer. His hands rest on the side of my head holding his body up, not wanting to crush me in the process of our bodies getting closer.
"Avery." He stares at the deep of my eyes breaking the kiss. "Tell me what you want."
"I've told you already." I tease letting out a smile.
He lets out a chuckle. "That little game you played before? I have to be honest, you got me, you keep proving to me that you do know how to play. But it's not enough."
"Not enough?" I lift an eyebrow. "Why not?"
"I want you to tell me right now."
I can't help but let out a grin. "Does that turn you on? It's like a switch that if I say it, you'll become... God or something." He laughs. "That's how you're so good at it?" I joke... oh, fuck, why did I just say?
A huge smile appears on his face.
"You think I'm good at it?"
"I wouldn't be here if I didn't think so." I admit.
"Using me for my body, huh?" I can't tell if he's joking or not. He bites his lower lip as he looks down to my lips, causing me to get even more confused.
"Isn't that what we're both doing here?" I ask, in all seriousness. "Hate each other, want to throw a knife to your neck like a full on ninja but then fuck like we're throwing every little sparkle of hatred that we have for the other inside our bodies in the bedroom?"
He laughs. "You're way of explaining things amuses me sometimes."
"You've heard nothing yet."
"Yeah?" He teases leaning closer to my lips. "What else haven't I heard yet?"
I smile back, looking down to his lips. "Fuck me and find out." He doesn't respond, instead, he leans closer stoping on the edge of my lips. "That's not enough? Do you need like a letter or something?" He chuckles. "Like a Hogwarts letter? Hold on, let me call my owl I think she's around here somewhere—" I joke trying to take my hands towards my mouth to whistle and keep joking, but before I can, Lucifer grabs my wrists and places it on top of my head. I, surprised at what he has done, stare at his eyes as a grin escapes my mouth. "Getting impatient?"
"Say it." He whispers softly hitting me with his breathing on my skin.
"Say what?" I tease again, liking him like this.
"How much you want me. How much you want me to fuck you right now."
Nothing comes out of my mouth. Lifting my chin up, I brush my lips against his making him feel the need to kiss me, but he doesn't end the space. He's waiting for my words first. "Donovan. I know you want to kiss me... do it." I whisper. "Fuck me. Fuck me until I can't feel my legs the next morning—" He immediately smiles at me. Without waiting another second, he kisses me quicker that I can let out a proud grin.
Tracing down to my waist, he holds me tight where I can't move to either side, only up. Lifting my shirt, Lucifer takes the opportunity to now kiss the skin of my stomach. He pulls it up until it reaches my chest and I take it upon myself to take it completely off. I immediately feel how his lips keep going down until they reach my underwear. The desire for him grows inside of me, I can feel it tingling the pit of my stomach and on my entrance, getting slightly wetter.
Stealing a breath from my mouth, when Lucifer's index fingers lift the side of my underwear to pull it down, the breeze of the room brushes against my skin. Without giving me the change to let out a different breath his mouth is already working on my folds, kissing them from my clit to my entrance.
Teasing it, his middle finger rests in front of it, only making me feel the tip of it. I want more, but it doesn't move inside of me, his tongue is the only think moving now on my clit.
It goes side to side, changing the rhythm without letting me catch a breath, my heart speeds as well as my breathing, bringing my chest up and down. I slightly arch my back when his tongue speeds, allowing me to feel the slight heat growing on my pelvis and for my insides to get wetter. Closing my eyes, somehow the pleasure that his tongue is giving me becomes stronger allowing for a low moan to come out of my mouth.
Suddenly, his tongue stops on my clit. "That's so hot, Avery." He says softly as all I can hear from myself is my heavy breathing. I know he's smiling right now. "You look so hot when you moan while my tongue is fucking you."
"You suck." I let out jokingly without thinking it as a chuckle escapes my mouth.
"I suck? Alright... yeah, I suck so hard."
He doesn't wait another second, without a warning he thrust his full index finger inside of me stealing a shakily moan from the back of my throat. "Yeah?" He teases. "I suck." His middle finger is now inside of me, joining his index. "I fucking suck?"
"Yeah." Nodding, I bite my lower lip, fighting a moan in when he starts to move them between my walls.
"Yeah?" He asks again pulling out to thrust me again. Fuck. I have to fight another moan in. "If I suck so hard, why are you so wet for me, Avery?"
My walls start to pound around him. The heat is now pushing harder on my skin as he speeds inside of me, but when he comes out and slides his fingers again, I can't help it, the moan escapes my mouth. "Yeah, keep going. Just like that." He does it again, harder and faster this time stealing a shakily moan from me. "You're such a good girl, Lilith." The way he says my name makes my heart speed, so dark and deep, my stomach tingles as the heat grows.
"Fuck—" I let out. "Don't stop." He stays inside of me to start moving his fingers, shaking my walls in the process. "Lucifer..."
"Fuck." Lucifer whispers out almost immediately after stopping with his fingers and making the heat slightly slow down with my heart and chest speeding. He suddenly stands up and takes his hands to his back pocket to grab his phone. The way that it vibrates hit my ears.
He rolls his eyes and I can't help but like the way he looks. His hair is messy while his lips are puffy from all the kissing, his shirt looks tight letting me see his fit arms sticking through. Lucifer and his way of looking soft all day, shining under the light of the room giving me the need to touch him and trace my fingers down his body. I've never seen a man that looks like him.
He's fucking hot. A side of me hates that I'm admitting it, but the other, the fact that I have him ready to fuck me like no one has ever done before: putting my needs before his... tingles every single angle of my body. I want him so bad.
I hate him... but at the same time, I want him.
How the fuck does that work?
I have no clue.
But Lucifer and I, somehow, make it work.
Before doing anything on his phone, he kneels down in front of me as a grin escapes his lips. Clicking something on the screen, he then drops the phone on the bed to the side of my body. I look at it confused since a weird noise hit my ears, noticing that Covaliov's name is on the screen.
He put the phone call on speaker.
I'm gonna kill him.
Murder him in cold blood.
My eyes go back to his finding a smile on his lips, liking what he's doing. He places his index finger on his mouth telling me to stay quiet, but the fuck you that I silently mouth to him only causes him to let out a silent chuckle. "Yes, coach." He says.
"Lucifer." Covaliov's voice sounds from the phone. I look at it, but as soon as I do, Lucifer's lips crush against my clit making the kisses somehow silently. I can't help but lead my eyes to him. "I know who you're gonna fight next weekend."
He doesn't respond since he doesn't leave my body. That doesn't seem to bother Covaliov. "It's Thomas. That guy from the Phoenix. He's a piece of shit, but that guy can throw a punch."
Lucifer speeds making me have to bite my lower lip, not wanting to let out a sound while my boss in on the phone next to me. "He's gotten faster, Lucifer. Faster and stronger, somehow." The tip of his tongue swirls around my clit, the heat grows so suddenly that I can feel the orgasm coming. I want to tell him to don't stop, but I eat it inside. "But the way he receives punches... he acts like a little baby and looses his balance pretty quick. We got that on him."
Oh, Covaliov— if you knew what's going on right now.
My lower lip hurts from biting it so hard, but I don't give in, I have to be quiet. Lucifer moving away his tongue away from my clit he replaces it with his thumb for his index and middle fingers to hold themselves on the edge of my entrance. Grinning, he gets closer to my lips and leaves a silent kiss on them, proud of what he's doing to me.
While Covaliov keeps going and going about the weaknesses of Lucifer's next opponent, Lucifer's free hand covers my mouth as he mouthes a low "shhh" with his mouth. And just like that, his fingers slid quickly and roughly inside of me. He doesn't give me time to get used to them, instead, he goes in and out so quick and desperately that the combination of that and his thumb of my clit makes me slightly shake under his body.
"Quiet, Avery." He whispers against my lips as he grins.
"His coach is good. He knows what he's doing just like his fighters... but so do you, Lucifer."
Oh, yeah, he definitely knows what he's doing.
Lucifer still doesn't stop. This time, I know he's moving for me to finish. He presses his hand harder on my mouth as our eyes are locked with each other. I close my legs to crash his body and feel his fingers inside of me even harder, allowing the orgasm to hit quicker.
It immediately works.
"Lucifer, are you there?"
The wave of heat surround my pelvis and my lower back. I have to let out moan since it's so deep, but Lucifer's hand doesn't leave my mouth. Just like he doesn't leave my eyes. I see a grin forming once again on his lips, fucking me roughly like we're never gonna see each other again.
"Lucifer?!"
He doesn't stop, he wants to make it bigger. The moan gets stuck on the back of my throat making me furrow my eyebrows and close my eyes, and yet, he doesn't stop.
"Don't tell me I've said all of this for nothing. Fuck, Lucifer."
My head flies back as the peak of the orgasm finally hits my body. Lucifer presses his hand on my mouth even harder for me to stay quiet, but as soon as he moves his hand away from between my legs, there's nothing more than a heavy breathing coming out of my body.
Lucifer grabs the side of my neck to lead my face to him and lock eyes, just as a smirk appears on his face. "You're so good, Avery." He whispers giving me a simple kiss.
"Lucifer?!"
"You better stay put..." he grabs his phone while clicking a button on the screen "I'm not done." And just like that, he takes the phone to his ear standing up. "Yes, coach, sorry I dropped my phone on the water the other day and sometimes my microphone doesn't work." He continues, just like nothing happened. Just like he didn't just fucked me and made me cum five seconds ago.
As I'm trying to recover the normal speed of my breathing, he's there a couple of steps away from me talking on the phone like it's a regular Tuesday...
Alright, I admit, he got me on this one.
This is the only time I'm ever gonna admit it, and there's no fucking way I'm telling him.
No way.
I sit down on the bed once my breathing becomes slower, letting my head get used to the feeling of being off the bed. Lucifer, with his free hand on his waist still hearing his coach talk, he looks at me to then let out a smile. I probably look like a mess right now and he likes it, it's all his doing.
"He's easy, coach." He says. "I've beaten him before."
The conversation doesn't seem to be ending, so I take the time on my hand to look around Lucifer's room. I've never been here before, every single thing my eyes lay on I find interesting.
The living room looks simple and almost empty, but his room looks nothing like the rest of the house.
The walls are a color of dark blue, with hanging long black curtains on the window from the left side of the room. The big bed is located in the middle of the room with black covers. It's made, only a little bit messy from what we just did. The headboard it's a dark brown going well with his nightstands, one on each side. The right side has a lamp and multiples papers and books laying on top of it, probably from college and all the classes he has to take to graduate.
But what gets my attention the most, is the single picture that rests behind the papers on the left side of the lamp. I can't see much detail since I'm far and it's not that big, but what I can, I can tell that it's a family. The two most tall people must but the parents, the mother with long dark blonde hair while the dad has brown curly hair. In front of them, there's four kids, three girls and one tall boy.
He once told me he was a big brother of three girls...
It's Lucifer's family.
I've never stopped to think about him and his family, he's just the boy that annoys me and... well, fucks me. More than that I've never consider to put a thought into it.
What should I, right? We're just sleeping with each other.
A tiny picture that doesn't belong to the original one is taped to it. It's a man, the same one that I saw before with curly hair. He's smiling and even if I'm far, it reminds me of Lucifer. The way that his eyes are intimidating but yet, friendly, his shiny skin and how he stands so confidently as he holding a boxing glove... they're so much alike.
I wonder, why does he have a picture of only him?
When I hear Lucifer walking, I turn away from it towards the front of the bed finding that he's still talking to Covaliov now with his eyes glued somewhere else.
A couple of feet away, there's a closet with the food closed, enabling me to see anything inside of it.
The walls aren't really covered with anything, except on the left side of the closet, where there's a desk. On the top, it's filled with books and more books, but my eyes directly go to the couple of sketches taped to the wall. I can't seem to figure it out if they're Lucifer's or they're just printed. So, without thinking about it, I grab my underwear from the floor and get up to walk towards them.
I can feel Lucifer's eyes on me. He doesn't say anything, he's probably too busy trying to keep quiet since Covaliov is still going on and on on his ear.
I wonder around the sketches and I immediately can see that they're Lucifer's. The pencil can be noticed, they're so detailed and some of them are just so pretty that I have to wonder if they're actually not printed.
I've never seen him draw before.
I start from the right to the middle. They're faces, one of them reminds me of Colin, black thin hair and funny eyes. I have to smile, it does look like him. Other faces, I don't know who they are, probably not even real people. My eyes start to wonder again moving to the left, stopping when a too familiar face appears in front of me.
It's mine.
The sketch is placed almost on the edge of the desk like he just taped it, under the hundred of drawings, but mine, for whatever reason, is bigger than the others. It's detailed allowing me notice that is me, lines are all over the place taking the job of shadowing, my eyes are closed and my head is leaned back. I have no clue where this could be, or why does Lucifer is drawing me in the first place?
Why is he?
I mean, a drawing is nothing— right?
We hate each other.
He hates me just as much as I hate him.
So... why would he want to see my face every time he sits on this desk?
"Fuck." I hear Lucifer say. Turning to face him mi lift an eyebrow, confused. He notices that I already saw his drawing, and for the way that he closes his eyes and furrows his eyebrows, he knows that I'm gonna give him hell for this. "See you tomorrow, coach." He says taking the phone away from his ear and finally end the call once and for all. "Before you say anything—"
I point at the drawing without taking my eyes away from him. "You drew me."
"No," He immediately shakes his head leaving his phone on his back pocket "that's your evil twin sister."
I lift an eyebrow crossing my arms on my chest, still confused on the whole situation. "I have an evil twin sister?"
He nods. "Do you want to hear how I came across her?"
A laugh wants to slip out of my mouth, but I eat it inside, he looks so concerned trying his hardest for me to let it go like he's a kid who just got caught doing something he wasn't supposed to be doing. Like, eating a cookie before dinner.
He looks kinda cute.
I didn't just say that.
Maybe I do have an evil twin sister playing against me and making me think things I do not agree.
"You're so good at trying to change the subject, I think I'm not the only one who can get away with murder in the room." Adding sarcastically, all that comes from Lucifer is a roll of his eyes. "Why did you drew me?" I immediately add since I don't see him with the intention to explain.
Lucifer just shrugs his shoulders. "I just did."
Lucifer Donovan and his great ways of communication. "Good explanation." I give him a thumbs up.
Annoyed, he lets out a long sigh and does the same as me: crosses his arms on his chest. "We were at class and I sat on the back, you were in the middle. The professor kept going on and on about something and you just laid back. That's it. I wanted to sketch so I did."
I stare blankly at him trying to understand his train of process, but I just simply can't. "Is this you being a stalker coming out story?"
He rolls his eyes again. "Yes, since the stalker usually becomes the stalker because he drew the girl once."
"It happens!"
"Does it?!"
"Yes!"
"Not in the movies!" There's not a single drop of jokiness in his voice.
I swear—
"Lucifer, I've studied cases where stalkers are involved and it certainly happens. Are you seriously comparing real life to movies?"
"Why not? Movies are accurate!"
"Not always! What if I ask you if you chase chickens in your training?!" That comes out of my mouth quickly since it's the first only that came to mind... and the only thing I know about boxers.
He stares at me confused. "Chase chickens?! What are you talking about—" Suddenly stopping, he slightly furrows his eyebrows like something clicked inside of him. Then, when he rolls his eyes, I know he finally understood. "Are you talking about the movie Rocky?"
I nod. "Yes, those are the only movies I've seen about boxing!"
"I love those movies!"
"Me too! They were great! But that doesn't mean I didn't question why they were chasing chickens!"
"It's an old form of training!"
"But what does it do!?"
"Makes you quick!"
"Did you chase chickens?!"
"Yes, actually." He nods, more calmer than before. "When I was sixteen and I was starting to fight, Covaliov made me."
"Are you serious?"
"A hundred percent, chickens are underrated. I truly think those tiny things can kill you. So, movies are accurate. Jokes on you."
"Jokes on me? You're the one how drew me! It's weird! We hate each other! It's like if I had a picture of a cockroach next to my bed staring at me while making fun of me because I can't kill it! I hate those little bitches! They're so fast and big and for what?! They're disgusting!"
He doesn't reply. Instead, as I stare at his eyes the confused look on his face turns into a big smile.
I'm definitely gonna hate his next words.
"Are you comparing yourself to a cockroach?"
Of fucking course.
"No! I'm comparing the situation! There's a big difference."
"You totally compared yourself to a cockroach."
"Ugh!" Annoyed, I walk to the bed to grab a big pillow.
"I think I'm calling you a cockroach now..." He jokes. "No wait! Little cock— never mind."
As soon as it's on my hand, going back to where I was only a couple of steps closer to him, the pillow leaves my hand the second that I throw it as his hand. "You suck!" He easily dodges it. I try to go and look for another. He manages to grab my hand and pull me closer to his body before I can even let a breath out, I don't know how.
Holding it in when my lips crush his, he doesn't let me even react to it. Taking the control by placing his right hand on my cheek while his other one rests on my waist, our lips play around with each other like they've done before. But quick, with the desire of never having the other like this. Just as if it were the first time.
I wonder why does that happen.
Lucifer breaks the kiss, staring at me with a smirk. "Yes, I suck. I remember." I'm surprised at his action, but like times before, I don't move back. I like when he kisses me, no mater how much I hate to admit it, he's a hell of a good kisser.
His eyes go down to my lips as his thumb starts to caress my bottom one, looking at them like he wants to kiss them all over again. "I said I wasn't done with you." He whispers letting out a grin. Gently pushing me back towards the bed, he grabs the end of my ass pulling me up and slowly dropping me on the bed. He doesn't leave my face not even for a second while he lays one hand on the side of my head holding his body up, he stays close as if he's gonna hurt me if he does so.
Going back to my eyes, Lucifer lets out a smile as his hand leaves my waist caressing my thigh and to lead it behind his back, where I know he wants me to wrap them around his body. Doing so, his hand joins his other on the other side of my head, to then lean closer to my lips. "It's a good sketch, you need to admit it."
I stare at his lips getting almost immediately the need to kiss them, but I control myself and go back to his eyes. "You made my lips bigger."
He slightly shakes his head, giving me a grin. "No I didn't."
"Yes you did."
Stopping right on the edge of my lips, they brush against mine mixing our breaths together. The closer I have him the more I want him to kiss me. Fuck. "I've had them on mine, Avery... I've touched them and I've tasted them. I know them. I don't think I had to look to even draw them..."
My heart speeds hearing his words. The affect they have on me enables me to come up with something to say, but it doesn't matter, as soon as I let out a breath out Lucifer slowly crushes his lips with mine. The kiss is soft yet deep, our lips can feel the other's every angle. Opening his mouth just by an inch, I do the same when my tongue wants the same: play with his.
Like time before, as soon as our tongues join together, the kiss automatically becomes quicker. My hand caresses his hair, wrapping my fingers with his messy curls. He lets his elbows rests on the bed for him to be closer to me, laying carefully his waist on mine.
A slight moan coming from Lucifer's throat hit my ears when he moves against me, making me feel a bulge growing between his legs.
"You want me so bad, Donovan." I tease as I break the kiss. "So fucking fast."
"It's the red underwear." He lets out chuckle and I can't help but smile, to then shrug my shoulders.
"Or that you're my little bitch."
"Oh— Yeah?" He smiles lifting an eyebrow. I do the same.
"Yeah."
"Alright..." He leans down to the skin on my chest without breaking the eye contact. "We'll see, Avery."
After starting to leave kisses on my chest, his hand goes down to the end of my shirt lifting it up and for me to take it off my body. Doing this, the matching set of the red underwear is out in the open.
"Fuuuck." I hear him say when the shirt is going above my head. Once entirely off, I find Lucifer staring at my chest with nothing but lust and surprise in his eyes. "I'll never get bored of this."
"Let me annoy you and let's see if you say that again afterwards." I joke gaining a little chuckle from him. "Lucifer—" He locks eyes with me.
"Mhm."
Pulling him closer by grabbing his cheeks, I immediately brush his lips with mine not ending the space that's left between us, instead, caressing his lips with my thumb I wait until he wants to do it himself. That doesn't take long since I can already feel how he wants to come closer, but I stop him right away making him stare at my eyes confused. "I want you to draw me like one of your french girls, Jack." I can't help but joke. I have to bite my lip to not burst out in laughter.
Understanding the reference, he rolls his eyes but soon lets out a long laugh while shaking his head. "Shut up."
"I had to!"
Almost immediately, he joins our lips together again starting slow, just quick and ready for our skins to be naked in from of the other. Lucifer breaks the kiss one more time as his phone vibrating hit my ears.
"Fuck— Covaliov!" He whispers annoyed while getting up from the bed leaving me laying there. He answer the phone call by clicking on the screen to take it to his ear. "Hello?" He answers more angrily than I know he intended to. Soon, his eyes go wide open at the surprise, telling me that the person on the other side isn't Covaliov. "Mom?! Mom! Hi! Hello!" I sit down on the bed pressing my lips together. "I'm fine!" Frustrated, Lucifer closes his eyes as a long breath leaves his mouth. "What?" He mouthes shit right after letting that question, suddenly, a wave of intrigue on what he's hearing grows inside my stomach. "Yes! Yes! Where are you?" He sounds worried, but more the kind that I fucked up more than something bad happening. "What? No, no, no. How can I forget? I was just studying and I lost track of time." Opening his eyes he locks eyes with me. I notice some sort of disappointment in them, taking me to believe him and Iisn't gonna happen tonight. "Alright, yeah, I'll wait." Without saying goodbye, he takes he phone away from his phone ending the call with his mother right away.
"Did you fucked up or something?" I ask trying to sound jokingly, but I'm more intrigued inside than anything else.
Lucifer slowly shakes his head. "My mom is coming to my apartment."
"Right now?"
"Yes— with my aunt and my three sisters. We have a weekly dinner and I completely forgot."
Shrugging my shoulders knowing that I was right about me and him not happening tonight, I quickly get over it and get up from the bed, ignoring a weird annoying feeling on my stomach to pick up my pants laying on the side of the bed. "It's alright, family is important. We'll continue another day."
I hear a little chuckle coming from his mouth, after a long breath out. "We better."
I place my pants on my body to then turn around and face Lucifer, finding the frustrated look still on his face. "I better leave, then." I say, trying to make him say something.
"See, here's the thing. They're all coming up the stairs... right now. They're probably a couple of steps away from the door."
Oh, this is a truly "fuck!" situation.
"What?! Lucifer!" I yell to quickly proceed looking for my shoes.
"And I need you to open the door for me."
I must have heard him wrong. My feet have to stop with my search to check.
"Am I high or did I just hear you say that you want to open the door for you?"
Looking down to his pants and the grown bulge, he shakes his head even more frustrated. "I can't open the door like this!"
"Put it down!"
"It's not that easy!"
"Slap it, I don't know!"
"Yes and then I'll tell it to sit down for me to give it a treat!" I roll my eyes to his sarcasm to then look for my shoes once again. "Slap it?! That's gonna make it worst!"
"Think about a dead pet or something then!"
The door bell hits my ears. "Lucifer?!" A strange woman voice yells.
"Fuck! That's my mom!"
"Lucifer! I can't meet your family!" Finally, I see my left shoe under the right side of the bed.
"Why not?!"
Walking towards it, I immediately find the other. I sit down on the bed to put them on.
Another ring coming from the door.
"Lucifer! We're here! Open the door!" The same voice speaks.
"Why not?! They're gonna think—"
"They won't think anything, Avery." Lucifer cuts me off. "I'll just tell them you're my friend and we were doing a project together. It's alright."
I lift an eyebrow. I never thought I was gonna hear that word as a serious conversation coming out of his mouth. "Friend?"
"Yes!"
"No!" I get up from the bed to leave the bedroom, but Lucifer stops me by grabbing my arm.
Another ring.
"Lucifer!" A second voice yells. "You better hurry up! I'm carrying heavy things that weight more than my body! If I drop to the floor right now it's gonna be your fault!"
"Fine," Lucifer says rolling his eyes "then classmate! Better?!"
"No! They can't see me!"
"Lucifer!" A third voice appears. "If you don't want Vienna actually kicking your door down you better open it!"
"I will!"
"April, don't give your sister ideas. Vienna, don't do it."
"Mother! Why not?!"
"Lucifer is probably changing, girls. He will be right over."
Lucifer gets closer to my body preventing me from walking away. "What are you gonna do?! Drop out the window?!" I don't hesitate, my feet take me to the left side of the bedroom where the window is. "What are you doing?!"
"Checking if it's high and worth it!"
"We're on the first floor!" I open the curtains to look down, and for my surprise, it's not that bad.
The idea actually crosses my mind.
I've done it before.
"It's not that high."
Another ring.
"Lucifer! Open the door right now or I'm gonna kick your ass!" The second voice yells even more angrily than before.
"Vienna!"
"What?! He always does this, makes us wait because he's doing God knows what. It better not be dirty!"
"Vienna!"
"Ew! I don't want to think about our big brother doing dirty stuff!"
"Why are aunt Emily and Mylah not coming up the stairs? Those two would totally support my idea of kicking the door!"
Lucifer walks quickly to where I am. "You're not jumping out the window, Lilith!"
"I can survive!"
"Just leave through the door! It'll be fine!"
I look down the window again. It looks so fucking high. I'm a hundred percent lying to myself... I'm gonna die if I jump out this window.
"Fuck! Fine." Rolling my eyes as Lucifer does the same, but relieved that I won't jump out the window, we both head out the bedroom. "Did you deal with the—"
"Yes." He nods, immediately knowing what I was referring to.
"Dead pet?"
"No, your annoying mouth did it for me."
"Annoying?" I make us both stop on the edge of the door by bringing my face close to his. "I thought you liked it you didn't even had to see it to draw it." He looks down to my lips which inevitably grows out a smile on my face. "Asshole." I regain my walk to the living room followed by Lucifer.
"Dumbass."
"Just leave the universe, you'll be doing it a favor." The door is now on my sight.
"You do it first and then I won't have to. It'll already be better."
"Idiot."
"Stupid."
Flipping him off, I see how he smiles sarcastically before placing his hand on the door handle to quickly open it. Hiding my middle finger, I let out the biggest smile ever trying my hardest to hide the fact that I was just fighting with Lucifer.
"Finally!" A girl quickly enters the apartment heading to the kitchen without giving me the opportunity to see more than her blonde long and wavy hair, while he hands carry two big tupperwares. I do recognise her voice, it's the one that wanted to kick the door and Lucifer's ass.
Vienna.
I already like her.
"Vienna, you'll knock everything if you don't slow down!" The first voice walks into the living room with her hands holding two boxes, the sound they make I immediately know they're carrying drinks. She's definitely the mother in this situation, her thick and pink lips get my attention right away. They're so pretty I want to see her talk again as her jawline is formed like I've never seen one before. Her cheekbones that are slightly covered by her wavy and brown hair are a light pink that doesn't allow me to see if it's makeup of her real colour, but either way, they go perfectly with her green eyes. So much, that there's a part of me that believes they shine because of it.
Now that I think about it, Lucifer has the same color of eyes.
She seems nice, but those type of people you know if you mess with them, they'll just win the fight with their words. The smart type.
"That's what you were carrying?" Lucifer complains once the first girl disappears in the kitchen. "That's probably less than half your body weight!"
"She's so dramatic, Lucifer." The third voice talks, it has to be April. "You know her." This girl is probably around fifteen or sixteen, her innocent look gives me that impression. Her hair is almost identical to the first woman, her mom, if I'm not mistaken, the only difference is that her's is not wavy but straight reaching her chest. Her green eyes don't pass unnoticed since they're as big and her eyelashes, making me look at them for a complete second. She looks smart too, the kind to be reading a book all day and not realise the day has passed. Probably would beat me in a math test.
Probably? No, definitely.
"I'm not dramatic! Those salads are heavy!" Last, I can finally see the first girl that walked into the living room. Vienna is no longer holding anything and I figure she left everything in the kitchen. Her wavy her is just like her mother's, just blonde like Lucifer's. Her brown eyes are darker than mine, and probably tinier. Usually, it's often said that people with those kind of eyes have a sweet face and kind look, those type of people who never get into trouble and be the nicest kid ever, but her? No. She seems like she would probably take off her shirt for a group picture in high school just to pull a prank, take out her tongue just for fun and grin when something is going her way. The perfect partner in crime.
Yes, I wasn't wrong. I like her already.
"My skinny ass arms can't handle much!" She complains again walking closer to her mom giving her puppy eyes, but she just shakes her head without giving in.
"Then start working out." The younger sister says... April, in all seriousness, but it looks like Vienna doesn't take it like that at all since she immediately fake laughs.
"Good joke!"
Now that I've realised, non of them are acknowledging my presence in the room. They're so focused with the stuff on their hands that they don't have the time to see the strange person standing there, to be honest, I'm glad. I'm finding everyone so interesting... they're Lucifer's family. Like I've said before, I've never stopped to think about it. Not like I should be... or that I want to, but to me, he's just him. Lucifer. Nothing else. The guy that fights me and fucks me.
Why him having a family is so weird to me?
So out of the ordinary?
"Where's Mylah?" Lucifer's question brings me back to the situation in front of me.
"She's with your aunt getting the bread," the mom responds "I forgot to buy them."
"Ugh," Vienna rolling her eyes shakes her head disgusted "she's probably gonna pick those breads that have the seeds in them. I hate those."
April, who's now standing by her side shrugs her shoulders with an innocent tiny smile. "I like them."
"They get stuck on my teeth!"
And then the two sisters go into their own little conversation.
"Is this everything?" Lucifer is now talking to her mother while looking down to the boxes she's carrying. Without waiting for an answer, he takes them off her hands and starts walking to the kitchen.
"Yes, baby." She replies anyway.
Now that Lucifer is out of the room, I'm feeling out of place. Like I don't belong there, what am I doing just standing here like an idiot? I should've just grabbed my backpack and get the hell out of here. But no, my brain decided to stay and inspect everything. Suddenly, when I turn to the side hoping to see Lucifer come back to say goodbye and not just walk away of the room like a weirdo and a creep, I don't see anything.
Fuck.
Now what?
"Hello?" The voice of the mother hit my ears. Turning to see her, I find her eyes strangely but nicely looking at me. Yeah, I would be confused too.
"Oh," I say walking closer to her to shake her hand "I'm Lilith."
Was that right? Was I supposed to shake her hand? Why didn't I introduce myself earlier?
Why am I nervous?
"Lilith?" She asks lifting an eyebrow. "That's your real name?"
I nod. "Yes."
"What are you doing on my brother's apartment?" Vienna joins the conversation, soon slapped on the arm by her sister.
"Vienna, be nicer." Her mom says.
"What?! We've never seen a girl on Lucifer's apartment, this is weird!"
April slaps her again.
"Stop slapping me or I swear—!"
"This girl could be his new girlfriend and you're here being rude!"
Girlfriend?
Oh, no, no, in my worst nightmare.
"Oh, I'm not his girlfriend." I quickly add shaking my head. Soon realising that I let it out quicker than I intended, I internally slap myself in the forehead.
"We're the sisters," Vienna says ignoring my words "aren't we supposed to be intimidating right now?"
April rolls her eyes. "No—"
"Listen here," Vienna interrupts her as she lifts her index finger and tries to give me her biggest intimidating look "missy—"
I eat the laugh inside.
"Vienna." Her mom stops her.
Not understanding her mom's complain, she stares confused like she has done nothing wrong. Honestly, if Teddy came home with a girlfriend I would do the same. "What?"
"Are we going to ignore that her name is Lilith?" April asks. "Is this a coincidence or the universe just telling them something?"
Vienna shakes her head and rolls her eyes, then brushes her hand away towards her sister like she's heard this before from April's mouth already. "April, the universe isn't telling them shit." She says, annoyed.
"Language, Vienna."
Concerned, April stares at Vienna. She looks like her childhood dreams just crushed in front of her. "Why not?"
"It's just names."
"So?"
"So?! That doesn't mean anything."
Yeah, I like Vienna. She reminds me of myself when I was her age.
Honestly, she doesn't look far from my age right now. Probably eighteen or nineteen.
"Girls, stop tormenting the poor girl."
I quickly shake my head. "Oh, I'm finding this quite entertaining."
"See? We're not being rude, just entertaining!"
"I'm sorry for those two," the mom's hand slightly touches my arm getting all my attention "but it is true, we've never seen a girl on his apartment."
"Wait, no, that's a lie." Vienna adds. "I once saw a girl, but it was Colin's girl."
"I'm Emeral, Lucifer's mother." Emeral says with a smile ignoring her daughters comments like she's used to them.
"Nice to meet you." I reply, giving her a smile too.
"At this point I'm starting to believe that our brother has no game."
"No game at all!" April joins her sister.
"I do have game, for your information." Lucifer suddenly appearing from the kitchen, he walks towards Emeral and I. Does a quick look to her hand on my arm and tilts his head to the side, I don't know what he's eyes are saying since I've never seen them like that, and it intrigues me. "And Lilith is just a friend," he quickly adds going back to normal, but yet, slowly like he's still a little bit... confused? "we have a project together."
"A friend?" Emeral asks.
"Yeah."
"Good," Vienna lets out a sigh of relief "because if you were his girlfriend I was just gonna start asking what was wrong with you for liking my brother." She shakes her head disgusted.
Lucifer opening his mouth offended, walks towards her sister to place his arm around her shoulders. "I'm very likeable!"
Vienna fake laughs. "Another good joke!"
"You're not gonna defend me, April?" Lucifer looks for help on his other sister.
"No, I'm actually with Vienna on this one."
I like her too.
Lucifer locks eyes with me as I hear a little laugh coming from Emeral. "I don't need enemies, I have my own sisters."
I quickly nod. "Tell me about it."
"Little sibling?" Emeral asks making me lock eyes with her.
"Brother, he can be the meanest sometimes."
"How old is he?" The way that Vienna asks that questions immediately makes me know why she's asking it, so turning to her, I slowly shake my head as I give her a little smile.
"Too young for you."
"Shit."
"Language."
"Yes, ma'am."
"I'm April, nice to meet you." I shake the youngest sister's hand while I nod, greeting her.
"I'm Vienna, the coolest sibling." The second sister approaches, shaking my hand too.
Lucifer laughs. "You wish!"
"I don't need to because I already know it, it's a fact."
"A fact? What's the fact?"
"The ones in the middle are always the coolest. So, me and Mylah are the coolest. She comes second, of course."
"You're sick in the head."
She flips him off. "I know, I learned it from you."
"Vienna, please."
"He started it!"
"I better leave you all," I locate my backpack on the side of the door so I walk towards it "looks like you're gonna need a lot of time to eat all of that food."
April lets out a chuckle. "Not with Vienna."
"Hey! I like food!"
"Would you like to stay, Lilith?" Emeral's voice takes me off guard.
"What?" That's all I could let out once I turn to see her.
Me and Lucifer's family together? Eating dinner?
What's this? An alternative universe?
It's weird.
But I'm hungry—
Yeah, and an idiot too if you stay.
Just, no.
"Yes, stay!" April excitedly walks to my side. "I made my famous pudding and I want more people to try it!"
Pudding? I love pudding!
No! Lucifer and his family eating dinner with me?! No! Sounds like a disaster waiting to happen!
Why?!
Why?! We don't like each other!
"Stay stay stay!" Vienna walks to my other side, slightly shaking my arm noticing that no words are coming out of my mouth.
Locking eyes with Lucifer unintentionally, I find a grin on his lips. This is his time to come up with an excuse for me, right? Shrugging shoulders he doesn't give me what I want. "It's your decision."
It's my decision?!
What?!
Kick me out, Lucifer!
I mean— it's not that I don't want to eat... I shouldn't eat with his family!
Don' get me wrong, they seem like lovely people! But—! C'mon! Me and Lucifer?!
"We're eating lasagna!" Emeral tries to convince me.
"How can you say no to lasagna?" Vienna, giving me puppy eyes I can't help but let out a smile "Oh, she's smiling!"
"We got a smile!"
"I do like lasagna." My mouth lets out before I can even think about it.
What am I doing?
"Then it's a yes!" April yells excited.
"We better get this table ready!" Emeral claps as she leaves towards the kitchen.
"Yes, I'm starving!" Vienna letting go of my arm she follows her mom. "Mom tell me you made the lasagna bigger?" She asks. April doing the same, the three of them disappear from my sight, even if their voices don't.
"Yes, I made it so you could have four plates this time."
"Fuck yes!" Silence follows her. "I know, language Vienna!"
"I'm gonna heat it now, I know how you get when dinner takes too long."
"Yes, we don't want crazy Vienna."
"I'll behave tonight, I have to make a good impression. I like her hair! Do you think she'll tell me what she does to have it like that?"
This is not the ending that I expected this day to have, if I'm being quite honest.
Lucifer's family and I having dinner? What the hell?
I mean, they seem like lovely people but... they're related to Lucifer!
Lucifer, the guy that I hate. The guy that I can't stand because he has a big mouth and always has something to say. Arguing with me just to piss me off and annoy me, him... that casually draws me when I'm not looking. That's no the point here. It isn't?
No. I should focus on what's happening right now: I'm eating dinner with the family of the guy that I hate.
Sounds about right.
And normal.
Yes, yes it does.
Feeling Lucifer's presence by my side, my head automatically turns to him finding a little grin on his lips. Leaning closer to my face, I stay still confused on what's he doing. "You couldn't stay away from me, huh?" His words annoy me, like usually. He's so proud of what he said that I know he's eating a smile inside, so, rolling my eyes not giving him the satisfaction of the win I lift my index finger to shut him up.
"Don't compare yourself to lasagna, you're not even on the same category."
"And which category I'm in?"
"The idiot one."
"Fine," he leans even closer "then ask the lasagna to make you finish next time." His whisper brushes my skin and makes my heart speed, but just like times before, there's no way I'm keeping my mouth shut and letting him be proud of himself.
"I will!" I say in a loud whisper. Gaining a little laugh from Lucifer, I can't say anything after since some loud steps can be heard from the stairs.
"That's probably Mylah and your aunt coming up the stairs." Emeral walks out from the kitchen appearing in front of me.
"Or Colin." April says innocently.
"Or Griffin." Vienna follows her, but not in the same tone, worst, with a vicious smile on her lips.
"Vienna." Lucifer complains. "Don't have crushes on my friends."
"I do not have a crush, he's hot... but that's just it."
"Sister sister!" April yells excited as a strange girl walks into the living room with two big bags full of breads hanging from her elbow while her hands hold another box.
"The bitch with the bread is here!" As she gets closer to leave the box on the floor by the side of the door, I get to see her more detailed. The first thing I notice is her black backwards hat that lays on top of her head. She's wearing an oversized T-shirt that says the word 'you're not my type' in big white letters. Her baggy clothes remind me of when I was a teenager and went through of a phase of wanting to look like a skater boy, but quickly faded when I got on a skateboard and fell the first minute scratching my cheek in the process. Her eyes are dark brown, but her tiny and delicate nose is a little bit reddish, probably from having to carry that heavy box.
If I forget about the clothes she reminds me of Ada, with her innocent looking face, but then when she moves or even talks, definitely radiates the person who would go down to hell with you if you asked. A ride of die kind of person.
"Don't call yourself a bitch, Mylah." Emeral leaves for the kitchen once again.
Confused, Mylah turns to her mother lifting her eyebrows. "Why not?"
"Lucifer has a girlfriend!" Vienna suddenly says, obviously joking around, but the way that Mylah furrows her eyebrows and shakes her head disgusted makes me believe she didn't catch the joke.
"Is she fucked in the head?" Mylah immediately asks.
I can't help but turn to see Lucifer, apparently used to her sisters' comments, since he looks like he's enjoying a little show. "They really love you." I say sarcastically gaining his attention.
"I'm so lucky." He joins my sarcasm. A little laugh escapes my lips leading Mylah's eyes to lock eyes with mine.
"Is this her?"
"She's not my girlfriend." Lucifer says before I can reply.
"I'm not and my name is Lilith." I shake her head which she takes quickly with a side smile... something tells me she's already thinking a million of funny comments to say.
"We have a project together."
She lifts an eyebrow. It's definitely coming. "Is the project practicing making babies?"
Huh—?
Oh, she definitely reminds of my mom when she talks.
"Mylah!" I hear April say once she walks closer to her grabbing her arm to pull her away from Lucifer and I.
"I'm joking!"
I turn to Lucifer without being able to hide my surprise at her comment, but deep down, I know I liked it.
It's not a lie.
"Yeah," Lucifer nods when he sees my face "you thought Vienna was the one with the big mouth."
"A friend, then?" Mylah asks.
"Yes, a friend."
"Friends?" A new voice speaks.
Well, not so new. A weird feeling of hearing that voice somewhere hits my stomach. But I can't seem to get where.
It's killing me.
"Emily." Lucifer says greeting the new person walking inside the living room, turning to see her, it finally hits me.
With her shiny straight brown hair and her thick lips, she walks in front of me. Slowly but determined, inspecting every single angle of my face as a little smile in on her lips. I feel like she's reading my thoughts by the way she's doing it.
Madam Mavros.
The lady that I wanted to be a witch the night Lucifer took me to the festival.
She's Lucifer's aunt?
"Lucifer..." she's finally in front of us. Turning to my eyes, Madam Mavros.... or Emily, she lets out an even bigger smile. I don't know if she remembers me from that night, and if she does, is she gonna say anything? "and who is this beautiful girl?" She asks, but her tone...
"Lilith." I say.
"Of course." Her deep and soft tone, and those words... the exact same thing she said to me when she first met me.
"Why do I get the feeling you know her?" Emeral asks when she walks inside the living room to place the plates on the table.
"Why would I know her? This is the first time I'm seeing Lilith." She smiles.
Oooooh, she knooooows.
"Are you staying?"
"Yes she is!" April replies before I can. "She's gonna try my pudding!"
"Good news, then."
"Yes they are!"
"Lilith." Like a time before, with her index finger, Emily slightly lifts my chin and stares at my eyes like she's looking at the soul inside of me. "You haven't changed." She whispers for only Lucifer and I to hear.
Well, she definitely remembers.
"Dinner is hot and ready!" Vienna screams passing behind Emily, followed by Mylah carrying big plates of lasagna.
Emily, giving me and Lucifer a quick look, she gently grabs my shoulders and heads me to the table, now with a hundred of things in them. Walking me to where Lucifer is pulling a chair, she discreetly pushes me to the chair next to it.
She better not be playing Cupid right now.
Vienna, saving me from this, pulls me aside and takes takes me to the other side of the table, where Mylah is.
"Lilith! Sit with me, c'mon! I'm sure you had enough of Lucifer." Yes, always. "I have to ask you something, what do you prefer, fighting a duck the size of a horse, or a hundred horses the size of a duck?"
I can't help but smile.
I have a weird feeling that I'm gonna like this family.
>>>
"It's not fair!" Vienna complains, still holding his two fingers up after playing rock papers scissors with Maylah for who's gonna do the dishes.
Great way of resolving problems.
"Why not? I won with paper!"
"But I won with scissors last round!"
"You shouldn't have said one for all!"
"Shame on me for wanting to make things more exciting!"
April turns to lock eyes with me with a proud smile, clearly happy that she's not involved. "I'm glad I did the dishes last time where there were less plates."
"I'll do half the dishes," I offer "it's not a problem." With the delicious meal that I just had is the least that I can do.
"Nonsense!" Emeral gets my attention. "You're our guest here. Vienna will do them."
"Technically we're all Lucifer's guests—" Vienna tries to get away with her words.
"I did them the night before April," Lucifer cuts her off "it's up to you two."
"Fuck! Fine, but I get dibs on the big TV when we get home."'
"That's not a problem," Emeral shakes her head while picking some plates "I have to wake up really early tomorrow."
Emily helps her. "Work?"
"Yes, we had a problem with some speakers. They sound like broken robots when I turn them on."
For the first time since I've known her, I wonder what she does. Not a single moment of dinner the subject of her work came up, just Vienna and Mylah telling the story of when they met a crazy man on the road, April with her desire to travel and Emily with her crazy rocks collection.
More interesting that it sounds.
"Or aliens," Vienna lets out a loud gasp "maybe they're hacking electronics here to communicate with us."
Mylah lets out a tiny laugh. "Do you really believe in aliens?"
"Yes! We can't be alone in the Universe!"
"Well, if we're not," Mylah continues "hopefully they'll kidnap you, find you very annoying and return you. They'll leave us alone because they'll think everyone's like that."
Rolling her eyes, Vienna also helps her mom. "Very funny." Her sarcasm makes me let out a tiny laugh, gaining her eyes on me as she lets out a tiny smile. I join with the cleaning of the plates followed by April and Lucifer taking it upon themselves to clean the ones used for the dessert.
We make a damn good team.
Why did I think that?
"Mom, do you want me to help you with the speakers?" Mylah asks but Emeral shakes her head.
"Oh, no baby, I got it, thank you."
"You better help her," Emily rolls her eyes. "otherwise they will sound like aliens if your mom tries to fix them alone."
"I'm great with electronics!"
"Great at breaking them, yeah."
"What do you do?" I finally ask.
"I own a festival right outside of the city."
A festival? Wait— the festival?
"Maybe you've seen it, it's on the right side of the road just as you get on the highway."
Yes, the festival. The one that Lucifer took me weeks ago... her mom owns it? Why didn't he told me?
Why would he, though?
It's not like we're friends.
Unintentionally, I give Lucifer a quick look. "Yes, I've seen it. You own it?"
"Like my grandparents and parents before me. It's a family business, my sister right here" she points to Emily who immediately rolls her eyes, probably already knowing what's coming "didn't want anything to do with it so it's all mine." Emeral doesn't say it annoyed like I was expecting, instead, she's proud of what she's saying. Like her sister doing something different doesn't bother her.
Then why Emily reacted like that?
Sisters.
"You're welcome," Emily adds "you're loaded because of it."
Shaking her head, Emeral places all the plates to the side sitting down once again on the chair. "I'm not." She replies, and this time like I expected earlier, she does annoyingly.
"I do work there sometimes, Lilith." Emily gets my attention. "As a fortune teller, you should come so we can do a session." She gives Lucifer a quick look "Maybe tell you about... love?"
I lift my eyebrows. "Love?"
"Are you single?" I know Emeral has been holding that question inside of her since the moment we all sat down on this table.
"Mom, don't interrogate the poor girl." Mylah tries to save me.
"I like her." Vienna adds. "Please don't scare her."
"I was just asking!"
"It's alright." I let out with a smile. "Yes, I am. I rather focus on graduating than having a relationship." After a long time without acknowledging each other, Lucifer locks eyes with me. I do the same to find those green eyes with the familiar shine in them, but this time, it's different. They're wondering something and I want to know what.
"What's your major?" I turn to Mylah.
"Criminal justice."
"Damn— hide the weed!"
"Mylah!"
"I'm joking!"
"Do you know exactly what you want to work as?" April asks intrigued.
She's so cute, kind of like Teddy. Without being the mean little bother part.
"Profiler and crime scene investigator."
"Wow, that's cool!"
Vienna gasps again. "Like a detective?!"
"Sort of, yeah, you can call it that."
"Like Sherlock Holmes?!"
"He's not a detective," April corrects her "he's a consulting detective!"
"Same thing! Are you gonna fight bad guys like Captain America?"
I shake my head. "More like Natasha Romanoff without the killer part."
"Fuck yeah!"
"That's badass!" Mylah joins the conversation.
I nod. I'm not gonna lie, this just made me love my career even more. "Thank you, I appreciate that."
"April wants to go into journalism." Emeral adds like the proud mother she seems to be.
"Really?" I ask now, intrigued.
She shrugs her shoulders but I can tell she's hiding a smile in. She's excited. "I still have a year to decide it, but yeah, I really like it. We should be talking about the almost graduate here..." she points at Lucifer to turn all the attention to him.
"Oh, yeah," Mylah asks "how's everything going?"
When I look at Lucifer, he looks just like April. Shrugging his shoulders but hiding a smile away, I've never put a thought into it, but Lucifer does look like he likes to learn. The way that he leans closer to the table to play around with the utensils in front of him to hide the fact he's excited, immediately makes me believe he's nervous because of the question.
What if boxing is the reason of his nervousness?
Suddenly his frustrated "I want to graduate" that he let out to Covaliov weeks ago surprisingly comes back to my head. It's been so long since I've thought about that conversation that it feels like ages ago... "If it goes well... this semester is definitely my last one." He says, not giving anyone eye contact.
"That's great, baby!" His mom shakes his arm excited, but still, he doesn't look up even is a smile escapes his lips.
I smile too. He looks cute.
Excuse me?
"What's next in life for the big boy?" Emily asks, waving her eyebrows.
"Just like Lilith said," finally Lucifer looks up to lock eyes with me "I'm just focusing on graduating right now." The way that he says it confuses me. I don't know if he said it because I said it... or, because it's true. Genuinely true. But, since the memory of his conversation with Covaliov is slowly going back to my head, the word "alone" also comes back.
What was that about?
My head can't put the pieces together... it was so long ago.
Lucifer turns away from my eyes and keeps talking about something, but nothing enters my ears. Somehow, I manage to not listen to a single thing he says and stare at his face as the word alone plays on and on on my mind.
He's not the type to do relationships... is he?
No, he's like me, right? Hit it then quit it.
But, what's his reason? I, don't do love. That's it.
Him? Why?
Putting my thoughts aside, I place my entire focus on his face. His lips move as he lets out words, his thickness immediately makes me want to touch them and kiss them. Getting the desire to taste them for the millionth time. Wetting mine, there's not a single angle that he hasn't touched there, not allowing me to take away that thought of uniting his lips with mine like the two pieces of a puzzle that fit perfectly. His shiny and soft skin move my fingers alongside each other, it tingles screaming for me to feel his skin against mine. Now. My head tells me desperately, like my lungs ask for air.
But now, I control myself.
It's probably my hormones going crazy.
The hair that moves as he slightly leans forward reminds me when I wrapped my fingers around them, his lips kissing my skin and his body on top of mine—
These thoughts shouldn't be on your mind right now.
He caresses me just like the first time, like he wants to remember my body until he can't breath anymore. I've never said this, but it feels like he wants to treat me like... I'm the only one in the world.
Does he do that to every girls he's ever slept with?
He has to have slept with a million of girls to be as expert as he is, even I, who know my body and what it likes has never experienced the things he made me.
Is it a thing that he does?
What am I even thinking?
We hate each other, why would it be different with me? It's probably the heat of the moment...
Suddenly, the sound of a camera taking a photo gets my attention. Turning to where the sound came from, I find Mylah staring at the photo she just took with a little smile on her face.
"And Mylah is on photography." Emeral says before anyone. "She does all the work for the festival."
Mylah doesn't say anything right away, instead, giving me a quick look she furrows her eyebrows without taking the smile away from her face. Her little expression makes me wonder what she took, and why is she smiling like she just found out something. "You're very photogenic, Lilith." She finally says.
I take it with surprise, she took a picture of me. "Oh, thank you. I've never got told that." I admit.
"Look." Leaning closer to me, she lets only me see the new photo. It's me... but it's not a normal picture or one that I was expecting. I'm looking to Lucifer, probably when my mind was somewhere else but here, lost on my own thoughts. My eyes are so focused on him that it looks like there's nothing more interesting in the room than him. He's the only thing my eyes want to see. Rather than lost on my own thoughts it seems that I'm lost in Lucifer, on the way he talks and moves his lips when he does so.
It's so weird.
But what makes it even more weird, is the little smile that shows on the corner of my lips as I'm watching him.
That's definitely not me.
"Friends... sure." Mylah whispers hiding a big smile.
Why was I looking at him like that?
Must've been the magic of April's pudding... it was really good.
"Vienna, for the surprise of everyone," Emeral saves me from the mess my head is right now "is into law."
"I just want to be a badass and yell 'objection!'"
Finally, I see a conversation I can put my whole focus in. "Maybe we'll see each other in the future." I say and the sudden excitement that appears on Vienna's face sends a smile to my face.
"Oh, yeah! We could be a powerful team! Now I'm excited!"'
"And you weren't before?" April asks concerned.
"How's the job going, Lucifer?" Emily sabes Vienna from getting stuck on that question.
Does his family know about him and the illegal boxing?
"Honestly," Mylah says before Lucifer can respond "I don't know how can you afford this apartment with just that bartender job."
They don't.
"And the motorcycle." April agrees.
Yet, another gasp leaves Vienna's mouth. "Do you sell drugs?!"
Lucifer and his little dirty secret.
"Vienna, your brother doesn't sell drugs." Emeral says, but then the look on her face tells she's not so sure of her words. Turning to Lucifer, she lifts her eyebrows tilting her head to the side. "Do you?" She asks, even though she's a bit afraid of the answer.
Lucifer letting out a smile nods his head. The sarcasm is coming. "Yes, everyday. I'm a hit on college grounds." There it is. "I'm joking, mom." He adds, to save his mother from having a panic attack. "With the help of Colin and Griffin the three of us manage this apartment, it's not that big of a deal." Giving me a quick look I know he's telling me to keep my mouth closed, and maybe for the third time today, I do as he says. Even thought I want to ask him why is he hiding it.
Probably a mother knowing his son is involved in illegal boxing matches isn't the best news ever...
"Then Colin sells drugs," Vienna says "he seems like the type."
April rolls her eyes. "Or maybe they just work hard and pay rent that way."
"No, they definitely sell drugs."
"All I know is that my boy works hard and is about to graduate," Emeral grabbing some plates gets up from the table and walks towards Lucifer "I'm proud of you baby." She kisses his head making Lucifer do a little smile.
"Thank you, mom."
He's such a mama's boy!
This shit is gonna come out later, definitely.
He looks at me like he knows what I'm thinking. Killing me with a stare, wanting to eat a laugh in, he rolls his eyes and lets out a sigh.
He knows I'm never gonna let it down.
"Hair is getting long," Emeral complains stepping away from his head "I think I just kissed hair instead of your head."
"I like it like this."
"Soon there's not gonna be any face of yours to see!" Trying to pull it to the side, Emeral licks her hand and brushes with it Lucifer's hand like the baby he is.
I need to laugh, please.
"Mom!" He immediately complains.
"You have a pretty face and you need to show it! Lilith, what do you think?"
I lift my eyebrows. "Me?" Please, don't make me want to laugh any more.
"Yes, don't you think is getting long?"
"I don't think I'm the right person to give any sort of compliment or not compliment to Lucifer." I admit, shaking my head.
"C'mon, your hair looks fantastic!" Well, thank you. "You must have good taste."
I'm questioning it these days.
I don't know what to say. It doesn't look bad, I have to be honest, I was staring at it moments ago with the need to touch it and wrap it around my fingers. Should I lie and be on the mom's side? "It looks... decent." Apparently not. My mouth speaks before I can think about it. The way that I said it sounded questionable, maybe that it even hurt to say that.
Lucifer stays quiet surprised at my words. Honestly, me too. But when he notices the little disgust on my face, he rolls his eyes. "Thank you," He adds with sarcasm "I appreciate that."
Emeral tries to part it again. "You need to show those green eyes I gave you." Some glasses and he looks like the typical nerd you see in movies.
Please, let me let out a laugh.
"Mom." Lucifer complains, trying to get his mom away from his hair by moving his head to the side.
"You're my pretty boy."
PLEASE, I NEED TO MAKE FUN OF HIM.
I'M DYING HERE.
Without giving him a warning, Emeral grabs Lucifer's chin and lifts it up for her to leave kisses all over his cheek.
I hear Vienna laughing by my side, I know she's trying her hardest to not make fun of him too. "Mom..." Lucifer complains yet again.
"What?" She stops. "I haven't seen you in a week, let me show you my love!"
"Maybe that's what you don't have a girlfriend," Mylah says getting everyone's attention "you can't handle when a woman kisses you."
"Yeah, that's why!" Vienna agrees gaining a laugh from April "You're probably like 'ew, girls!'"
"What a total loser! Boooooo!"
"Have you actually taken someone on a date since you got to college?" That's an interesting question. Has he? "Or gone to parties? Something?!"
Lucifer doesn't seem amazed by the question, he just shrugs his shoulders.
"That's non of your business."
"Oh, please," Mylah continues "at least tell me you've taken someone home!"
Yeah, me, like... multiple times.
"I don't want to hear this!" Emeral disappears in the kitchen.
"Ew!"
"I don't want to know that!"
I stay quiet, this is an interesting conversation. Lucifer's sisters think he's a loser and knows nothing about woman... maybe he doesn't know how to date one, I'm not sure, but he surely knows how to satisfy one.
I'm never letting him know I just thought that.
"I'm not gonna tell you."
"C'mon! I don't want to think my big brother is a loser! You must have taken at least one girl home!"
April trying to stop the conversation, shakes Vienna's arm who automatically starts to shake Mylah's arm. I try to give their now little conversation my full attention, but Emily's words don't allow me.
"Do you still wear it?" I look at her finding her hand reaching to his chest. Following it, my eyes immediately find the gold necklace I've seen once or twice hanging from his neck. Maybe all the kisses from his mom and Lucifer trying to step away accidentally made the necklace to be seen, out of his shirt. I stare at it like I did the first time, wondering why he hides it.
"All the time." He replies looking down to it with a little smile.
"I still remember the day that I gave it to him." Him? Who's him? "He cried for probably ten minutes, like a baby. It looks good on you."
The man in the family photo.
Maybe it's the fact that I'm not used to having a man sitting down at the table, but after an hour of seeing his entire family, I've just now realised he's not here. He's wasn't mentioned or even in the slightest gave me a clue of being a man in the situation.
Is it Lucifer's dad?
It has to be, they look so much alike.
But if he is... where is he now?
"He would've been proud of you too, baby." Emeral appears kissing his shoulder. "I'm sure of it." Lucifer doesn't look up, instead, with a side smile still on his face he grabs the necklace and stares at it like a million of memories are flashing through his eyes. Caressing it slowly, he once again places it inside his shirt for no one to see.
Lucifer's dad is dead?
For the first time, there's a weird feeling on my chest when I think about Lucifer. It's a mix of my heart racing and worry, the same things I've felt when Teddy was on the hospital.
I want to hug him for some reason.
For a moment, in my head and chest, Lucifer isn't just the guy that I hate or that I sleep with, he's a person. A person with has a story that intrigues me.
Would he tell me if I ask him?
"Talking about dates..." Emily gets my attention flying all my thoughts out of my head "someone has one." She says with a vicious smile.
"Who?" Lucifer asks brusquely looking up.
"April."
April sinks into the chair covering her face embarrassed. "It's not a date! We're just hanging out!"
"You? On a date?" Lucifer asks like someone just told him terrible news. "No, you're too young! With a boy?"
"No, with a bird Lucifer." Vienna tries to save her little sister, but Lucifer keeps shaking his head abruptly.
"Who's he? How old? Does he have sisters? Bothers? When? Does he drive? Where's he taking you?"
"Lucifer, stop tormenting your sister."'
"Mom! You're allowing this?"
"She's not 10, Lucifer!"
"Don't worry," Maylah says "I already agreed with Rachel that we're gonna spy on them."
Vienna shakes her head, concerned. "I'm still surprised that Rachel agreed to be your girlfriend, she's too cool!"
"Mylah, you're not gonna spy on my date!"
"Aha!" Lucifer points at April, who immediately widens her eyes. "So it is a date!"
"No it isn't!"
"You just said it was!"
"April, you can't go out on a date! With a boy! Boys suck!" Agree. "Lilith, help me out here!" Oh, I'm the right person to say why boys suck, but I don't want to ruin a teenager's journey of leaning.
"Lilith, please, don't help him." April begs.
"Or help us," Mylah says "you do like the type to spy on your little brother's date."
I nod. "I totally would, but prevent him from doing anything stupid since he's the stupid boy."
"Makes sense."'
"Am I the only one who's freaking out over this?!"
"She's growing, Lucifer."
April sinks into the chair even more. "Oh, please, don't...."
"With a boy! Unbelievable!"
"Freak out with Mylah too! She has a girlfriend!"
"I've known Rachel all my life, I know she's good, Mylah on the other hand..."
"I'm good too!" All the Donovan family laughs, expect Lucifer, who's still concerned. "Alright, fine—"'
"When is it?" He insists. "I'm gonna be there, someone has to intimidate the boy."
"I'll do it," Vienna lifts her hand "I have my sock full of rocks ready."
Emily nods, joining in. "And I'll make him believe I'll curse him for life, so we're good."
"If you come he's gonna get scared." April takes a chance of saving herself, but Lucifer not giving it to her, nods proudly.
"Good!"
"I'll tell the whole world that you used to dress like a princess and dance to ABBA songs all day when you were four." She finally snaps letting out abruptly.
A loud laugh escapes my mouth, so loud, that it causes the entire table to laugh too. Expect Lucifer, who's surprised at his little sister.
ABBA? Singing? Disney Princess?!
I'm getting so much material right now.
"My own little sister is black mailing me."
"C'mon," Emeral lifts her empty glass "go relax and bring me some water."
"I'll do it," I offer looking at how defeated Lucifer looks right now "he looks like he's gonna faint if he gets up."
"I'm fine, I'll get me some water too." Getting up as I do it, we both head to the kitchen. "A date! My sixteen year old sister! A nightmare!"
"She's a little kid, Lucifer." I say as soon and we both disappear from the sight of everyone else in the living room.
"That's exactly my point! She's to innocent to go out with disgusting little boys. I know! I was one!"
I let out a chuckle. "A disgusting little boy?"
"Yeah!" He's taking my job of insulting him now... the audacity. "Besides, at sixteen the hormones are crazy! Crazy and stupid! Boys think with their dicks not their heads!"
We stop in the middle of the kitchen, too focused on our own conversation.
"You're talking like that changes when boys grow up."
"It does!"
"Don't make laugh, Lucifer."
"Think back when you were sixteen, boys sucked, right?"
"Boys suck now, then and always! She's gonna learn it eventually!"
"I don't suck—"
"You—"
"Don't answer that." I eat a laugh in since the way that Lucifer stares at me changes completely. He's not freaking out anymore, instead, once a grin appears on his face he leans closer to me, doing a quick look to my lips. "My hair looks decent, huh?"
Of course, the only thing that would end his freaking out scene is his need to annoy me.
"Used to dress like a princess and sing ABBA, huh?" I fight back.
He nods, letting out a little chuckle. "Touché."
"You have a nice family, are you adopted?"
He rolls his eyes, stepping back from my face. "They seem to like you when I don't, maybe."
"I'm a likeable person, unlike you. They're all are, there's no way you're related to them."
"Yes, because chasing down a random stranger because he stole your milk immediately makes you a likeable person."
"It does, you just have horrible taste."
"I don't think I've ever seen my sisters be this nice to a friend of mine, it's irritating."
"I told you, they have good taste!"
"And my mom inviting you?" He ignores my comment, I hate when he does that. "She must've seen something in you, I clearly can't see what."
"That I'm better than her pretty boy!" When I walk closer to him to grab his cheeks, I squeeze them so hard with my index and thumb that he has to push my hand away with strength.
"You wish, Avery."
"I'm definitely gonna ask April to send me pictures of you dressed as a princess. I can't let that go."
"You said you liked my hair!"
His try to fight back makes me laugh. "So what? We're not five, we can compliment each other!"
"Can we?"
Yeah, I can't even believe that myself.
"Okay— maybe not. It hurt to say that."
"Yeah," he nods rolling his eyes once again "you showed it on your face."
"Does Colin know about the dresses?" I can't help but ask. He says quiet for a second clearly not wanting to give me the answer, but his silence, gives it to me anyway. "Oh, he doesn't know! That's even better! I can black mail you!"
"You're enjoying this a bit too much."
"No, my enjoyment isn't enough. I should be asking April right now for those pictures."
"I'll burn them all."
I squeeze his cheeks one more time. "I'll find them, pretty boy."
Turning around to face the fridge he shakes his head, annoyed. "Let me get the water so I can throw it at you."
"Do that and you're dead."
"Kill me in front of my family?" He opens the fridge. "Where's your heart?"
"At the bottom of the ocean getting eaten by fish."
"Nice scenery."
"Thank you."
Finally, when he slightly leans down to reach for the water bottle my eyes go directly to the shine on his neck. The gold of the necklace gets my attention like it surprises me, and my eyes can't seem to look away from it as a million of question fly through my head.
The undying wonder if my question is gonna get answered by him.
I want to know, is the man in the picture his dad? And the necklace, it belongs to him? Why does he hide it all the time?
Should I ask him?
"Lucifer?" My mouth lets out before I can come up with a decision.
"Mhm." He asks as he opens the water bottle after leaving the glass on his hands to lay on the counter.
"Can I ask you something personal?" He's definitely surprised by my question by the way his head turns to see me, with his eyebrows slightly furrowed and stopping immediately what he's doing. I add: "I'll go back to insulting you afterwards, I promise."
My comment makes him let out a chuckle. "Yes, you can."
"Is that your dad's necklace?" The question flies out of my mouth like it's been hanging there for hours fighting to come out.
He doesn't reply immediately. I can see that he's wondering how I came up with that conclusion, but I don't see a 'no' in his eyes. Staring down for a bit, he puts down the bottle to then slowly nod, still startled by my question. "Yeah. He passed away when I was 16, car accident."
"I'm sorry to hear that." I hear my mouth say, my brain at this point it's just letting my tongue move without me acknowledging it. "Were you close?"
Why would I even ask that?
I immediately regret it. We're not friends, I shouldn't be asking this kind of stuff.
It's weird.
For my surprise, he nods. "He's the one that got me into boxing. Not in the illegal fights, but— he was just as obsessed as I was."
I notice the remark he does on the word 'was', getting me even more intrigued than before. "You're not anymore?" My tongue speaks once again, without my brain thinking about it first.
"I do like it, just not as much. My mom gave me the necklace when I turned 18. He used to wear it all the time."
"It does look good on you." I say.
Fuck.
Did I just say that?
His face changes completely, it goes back to the one that he usually makes when he's about to annoy me. "What? I said we're not five, a tiny little compliment won't kill us— No, wait," I grab my chest as I if hurt "my heart hurts now."
He rolls his eyes. "You're funny."
"Aw, thank you."
"Lucifer," the sound of Vienna's voice hits my ears making my head turn to where it's coming from "could you bring me water too?! April stole mine!"
"I didn't!"
Right above the door there's a clock that let's me see 11:37 PM shining in green numbers. My body already hurts knowing that I'm gonna be so late in bed.
Damn— I am turning into an old lady.
"I should probably go," I say when I leave the glass on the counter for Lucifer to fill it too "it's getting late."
"I'll take you." He doesn't sound like he's asking, more like a 'I'm not gonna argue' type of phrase.
But since when I don't argue back?
"No, it's fine. I'll order a taxi, you spend time with your family." I grab the glass from the counter to head back to the living room and not give the situation any more words, but Lucifer's hand suddenly grabs my upper arm stopping me. With a quick motion, he places himself in front of me allowing my eyes to see only his face and his eyes looking down to my lips.
"Wait." Without giving me a chance to say a word or even move, his thumb flies to my cheek caressing my skin, bringing me closer to his face in the process. His eyes won't leave my lips like he's waiting for the right moment to end the space between us, while his body is getting filled with the desire to kiss them until he can't hold it in anymore.
I can't help but look down to his lips too, thick and pinkish, without fail giving me the need to kiss him. Wanting to feel those tingles I get on the pit of my stomach, raising my heart and warming up my body.
Lucifer leans closer to join the tips of our noses together, almost touching the edge of our lips. The air coming out of our mouths are making a tornado between us, making our faces get sucked into it and somehow bringing us even more closer.
Shit.
No, stop.
"They'll wonder why we're taking so long." I say in a whisper trying to step away from his face, but his thumb doesn't allow me to.
"Shut up." He quickly replies, and without waiting another second, he ends the space that separate us and kisses me like he's been waiting to do this since dinner started.
I can't seem to kiss him back right away, something inside of me is pulling me back like it doesn't want me to give in. Fighting it away like my life depended on it, leaving the glass on the counter without breaking the kiss I wrap my arms around his neck to bring him closer and make our lips move against each other at a faster speed. His thumb leaves my cheek to hug tightly my waist as our tired breaths from the kiss hit the other on the skin.
We're kissing each other like crazy, like there's no one else in the house. Just us and our desire to have the other right on this second, our bodies pressed against each other like hours ago. Giving us nothing but warmth and pleasure, lust.
What is this?
"Are y'all making out in there?!" Mylah's yell makes us both to brusquely end the kiss.
"Mylah!" The entire table screams gaining a little laugh from Lucifer and I as both of our lips are a little bit puffy from the kiss.
Lucifer doesn't reply to his family, instead, he takes his thumb to my cheek once again. "Stay." His whisper makes my skin slightly shiver under it.
I want to...
fuck, yes I do.
But I shake my head.
"I can't stay here."
Us having dinner with his family and then me staying the night?
It sounds...
No.
"What would happen if you did?" He asks leaning closer to my lips. I know what he's thinking, he knows that I'm thinking too. We can't hide it, the way that our eyes fly to the other's lips just gives the answer like a million words just explained it.
"I'm going, Lucifer."
He slowly nods as he stares at my eyes. "Go back to hating each other, then?"
I shake my head. "I never stopped."
Giving me a side smile, he just steps away from my face grabbing the glass of water. "Yeah." He nods, finally turning around to leave me behind. "We started talking about the project and time went flying, Mylah." I hear him say when he disappears from my sight.
Why is my heart suddenly raising?
And— 'yeah?'
The fuck does that mean?
I don't know if I was right or not; was this night a disaster?
I'll let you decide.
