━━━ iv. a cult of werewolves.

chapter four.

SURPRISINGLY, THIS WASN'T THE first time Veronica was held captive this year. Her head was pounding like she had taken a hammer to it, no doubt she has a concussion from the blows Sean gave her awhile ago. A warm candle lit bath would have been utopia to her at the moment not being duct taped inside one squeezed underneath another, she tried to twist her wrists to stop the cramps but she could barely move them the sharpest thing behind the shower curtain was her teeth but the tape on her lips made them out of commission yet the heavy boy thought it made his vocals louder.

Holding people captive was noticeable a first time thing for the Alpha, he brought them to his home and hadn't bothered lock anything. Scott McCall, that's his name — the teenage boy who broke the Argents, his reputation was intriguing he attracted danger like a moth to a flame her family use him as a gateway to get rid of the bad, but it'd only work if she played her cards right. Like she said her first night in Beacon Hills, she's here for a good time not a long time.

She could hear Scott recapping what happened to another one of his pack mate on what happened going back and forth, it was quite boring. "This isn't going to end with us burying the pieces of his body out in the desert, is it?" Never mind. While most kids her age at fourteen were celebrating acing tests, she was celebrating her first kill, a siren.

The blond's body was leaping like fish taken out of the ocean knocking into hers painfully, she bites her cheek remaining calm because if you're not you can't think rationally and not thinking rationally can get you killed.

The curtains were yanked back, her eyes peeled open. Both boys shared a glance and spent the next minute lifting them onto wooden chairs in front of a large bed.

"Liam, new girl, we're going to take the tape off your mouth."  The paler on spoke, his slight spiked hair touching his forehead pointing a fragile finger at them. "If either of you scream, it goes right back on. If you talk quietly, it stays off. Got it?" He nods at Scott, he returns the nod so Stiles decides to go for it. "Okay."

She clenched her jaw as the sticky tape ripped away from her trying to take lips with it, then Liam who grunts bouncing his head down. Licking her lips, her eyes met the Alpha's behind his lanky friend he stared at her like he realized something. She wonders what.

"Okay, guys, now you've both seen a lot of confusing things tonight. And more confusing things are going to happen because of the confusing things that happened tonight." He explained, striding back his words slurring together at some point. "Do you understand?"

"Not really." He grumbled, glaring up them.

"Do you even know what you're saying?" Veronica retorted, shifting her wrist against her chest to feel comfortable but it made it worse. Noticing, Scott takes her bound wrists in his hands and loosens it enough for it not to hurt. He smiled at her and she didn't return it, had he forgotten he kidnapped them? Almost like he read her mind his smile and he released her hand striding back.

"Of course I do, but he," He taps his friend's shoulder. "Can tell it better. You should tell them."

When neither said anything, Liam grew frustrated. "Tell me what?" She knows he hadn't meant to bite him, so why couldn't he just say it, ripe the bandage off.

"I think you already know." Scott said, his doe eyes locked on the girl who appeared too calm for someone being held hostage by boys. She was moon-scented with a hint of gunpowder. "You're a Hunter."

"Is that a question or an observation?" The huntress retailed. He had the whole driven warrior save the world vibe, in a way they were similar with their goals but he didn't have the balls to shoot. "I doubt now is the time to discuss my occupation."

"Right." His head shook almost like he was trying to get rid of his thoughts and focus on the situation at hand, tearing his eyes away from her. "Liam... What happened to you, what I did to you," his friend nods almost pleaded he wasn't included in the biting. "Which I had to do in order to save you, it's going to change you."

"Unless it kills you." The other interjected, waving his hand. Scott snapped his neck to look him. "Shouldn't have said that."

"What?" He inhaled a shaky breath, sniffling and dips his chin to his chest. There was nothing she hated more than children crying, she wouldn't know whether to hug them, beg them to stop or walk out of the room until they stopped. Right now she could do neither because was still bounded to this chair.

"Uh... Uh-oh. Oh-oh. Is he... Is he crying?" Stiles stammered, pointing his finger at him also unsure what to do.

Scott took lead, crouching in front of him and rubs his hands against his thigh speaking so soft. "Liam, it's okay. You're going to be all right." He sobs, tears gathering in his eyes. She groans, desperate to leave. "You're not going to die."

Stiles bounces down on his knees, their attention handed to the blond human. "Probably not."

Scott shoots him a withering glare. "Stop it."

"Okay, possibly not."

"Would you just help me untie them?" Scott snipes.  In twenty seconds flat the tape were ripped off their bodies, Veronica finally felt like she could breath. "Liam? Are you okay?"

"We're sorry about that." Stiles apologized, she was surprised when he glanced at her too. "We're really sorry." The blonde stands, twisting his body Veronica watched him grip his chair smacks it onto them. Their bodies hit the ground loudly.

She wanted to laugh out loud, she was not expecting the kid had balls. The human used the wardrobe near the door to aid him stand, "Liam, what the hell is your — " his fist slaps his jaw knocking him back down against the wall, she hadn't expected for him to latch onto her tug her wrist with him out the bedroom door.

He paused momentarily stunned at his foot. She's forgotten he was at the hospital today, was his foot broken? Before she could ask, the boys fell out the door finding it hard to stand on their feet. It was pathetic really.

"Ah. Get them." Their shouts rang through the empty house like a battle cry ambling at them like wrecking balls. Her eyes widen squeezing herself against the ball when they slammed into Liam a hand gripped onto her waist yanking her down the stairs with them, a body shielded from the fall yet she ended up beneath them. Veronica groans, they weighed like freaking bricks crushing her lungs. She wiggles herself out despite Liam holding a hand out for her and escaped into the night.

"You good?" Veronica asked, her breath panting out like white smoke ambling back to the hospital where she left her car. What were her family doing, are they waiting for her? She wonders what they ate, hopefully something good she's craving Pisca Andina, just imagining herself eating it makes her mouth water.

"Ask me again later."

AFTER WHAT HAPPENED YESTERDAY she had expected her parents to let her skip school for today but apparently even if your out hunting you're required to come back before your curfew. What a load of bull, how is suppose to tell the monster she's hunting to hurry up and die because she's gotta be back before curfew? Sigh. There are plenty of other things she should be focused on instead of panicking if people noticed she wore the same jeans for three days straight.

When she arrived nearly thirty minutes left because she tried to sneak inside but her dad caught her and made her walk to school using her phone for directions. Rumors had flown around about the new girl, it was expected. Her teeth bit her blue pen clutching her timetable to her face one more time to make sure she had arrived, using them weren't as hard as she though and they said she'd need someone to escort her to her second class.

Her hand on her heart she could feel it beating faster because she was about to knock on a door with about twenty students inside, why was this making her heart beat faster? Rolling her eyes at herself, she knocked and clicks the door open.  As expected all eyes fell on her desperate for something to save them from drowning in boredom. Hers swam around the bright class spotting the teacher at the back aiding a student.

"Hi, I'm Veronica Morillo." She introduced. His eyebrows furrowed like he'd never heard of her, for a second she was afraid she knocked on the wrong door.  "You're new student?"

"New student?" He repeated, straightening himself. Was she not speaking English? He strolls to his desk mumbling to himself, "I wasn't told I was getting a new student." Her head leans on the doorframe pretending to be oblivious to the eyes pricking her skin when she wanted to shout at them to stop. "Yeah, I was right. Your in the wrong class."

For fuck sakes, this is all her parents fault for not giving her the day to sort herself out. Snickers escaped from a few students and she tried not to be bothered by it, so she could hunt a vampire by herself but couldn't figure out where her class is? The human brains works in a strange way. " Eh, Mr. McCall can show you the way."  She forget he was a teenage boy who had to go to school, his eyes had already been on her.

Shake your head. Tell him no, you don't need help. You're only searching for a room number it should be simple math, her brain screamed at her. But his eyes were so cute, she hadn't noticed his crooked jaw. No amount of attractiveness can influenced by her, the door closing broke her out of her thoughts.

"Do you mind I see your timetable?" Scott inquired, his voice timid hesitant to meet her eyes. Was he going to pretend what happened yesterday was a dream?

"I really don't need help finding a classroom." The huntress argued, lips pressed together holding her sheet behind her hands stepping back.

"You kind of do if you pasted my class twice and still manage to walk inside the wrong one." The Alpha countered, a small smile curving on lips.

Her lips pursed to the side fighting back an embarrassed grin at being caught, "Its my good luck ritual."

"You might need a new one." Scott humored, head tilting. His boldness was surprising. Her sheet of paper was slipped from her grasp. "You're suppose to be in Maths, room 89."

She swiped it back within a blink of an eye surprising him, her movements too were too unnatural for an ordinary human. "Thanks. I can take it from here."

"That's the wrong way." Scott claimed, his eyes never leaving her back as she trudges down to the science labs.

"I'm in no hurry, I have maths." Veronica retorted, side glancing him. Lie, maths is one of her favorite subjects but saying what she said makes her look less of an idiot.

"Right." By the smile on his lips she knew he heard her heartbeat.

She huffed.  "Stop listening to my heart!"

"I wasn't. I just heard it like I heard you talking!" He argued, waving his hands a bit. The school halls were plain like vanilla ice cream, her nose crinkle at the stench of sweat and aftershave what she did like was sun coming through the windows.  "So, you're a hunter."

"And you're a werewolf."

"How come you're here in Beacon Hills?" He asked, turning he avoided the toppling garbage can broken pencils, wrappers and forgotten erasers littered the ground along with some students, she presumed ditching class.

"For better opportunities." She answered, it her truth. Beacon Hills gave them an opportunity to clean up it's act and get paid for it when they leave it'll be safer.  "You look like you could use the help."

"Yeah, we could." He admitted. When he looked up, he sighed almost like he hadn't expected for them to get here too quick. It had be working, maybe yourself seem available. "Room 89."

"Told you I could find my way." Veronica chimed, playing with straps on her bag on her back shooting him a beam and folds her timetable into her pocket. "And with ten minutes left."

"I guess I'll maybe see you around?" He inquired, rubbing the back of his neck. She fought a grin, it was working or Scott McCall has a fetish for hunters, Veronica swallowed her laugh.

"Maybe, I like that word a lot." With one last smile, she walked into her class.

"YOU. IT'S YOU AGAIN." Their voice was heavy coming on her left side. Her eyebrows furrowed glimpsing at him, oh he's back. It really is a small world.

"Yeah, it's me, don't cream your pants." Veronica quipped, shooting him a tight lipped smile and returned to fitting her books inside her new locker on the bottom row. Now she had too keep some sort of rag on her knees every time she goes to her locker or else she'll have dust and dirt on her knees.  "You look spooked, is it the boys' toilet?"

"No. I need your help." He murmured, crouching down besides her. She held in a groan, saving his life did not include babysitting the twerp.  "The guys we ran from, they're following me everywhere trying to get me to join their cult!"

She sucks in her bottom so she would laugh in his face. "What do you want me to do about? Beat them?" His eyes wondered up like he was thinking it over. "It's my first day here I'm not going to beat them up. But you could stop hiding and threat them, cults don't go for the weak."

"Are you sure it'll work?" He questioned, his blue eyes nearly hopeful shrugging his bag higher making the crimson splotch on his bandaged wrist stand on. It was where Scott bite him, what would her parents do if they found out he bite a child — more specifically what would Araya Calavera do?

It won't work. "Positive. Tell them you'll boil their teeth if they come near you again." His expression screamed 'what the fuck', she shrugged.  "It's just a suggestion. Now shoo, I can't be seen talking to a freshman for more then three minutes." He rolled his eyes.
