“I can't believe it! They made it to the fifth day?!” Juniper slammed her wine glass down on her desk, “those other teams were supposed to take them out, not get taken out!”

She looked at Tangerine, “you’re our last hope, see to it that Eponine and Matias are taken care of, I’ll deal with Cruella and the mother.” Juniper had a wicked smile on her face as she looked out the window.

“Yes, Juniper.” Tangerine grinned viciously.

Matias watched as Eponine brushed her hair in the vanity dresser mirror, he sighed in delight, catching her attention, “something wrong?”

“Just happy that’s all,” Matias smiled, nuzzling his nose over her mark, “I never thought I’d have something like this.”

“Like what?” Eponine tilted her head.

“A mate, happiness, someone to protect, someone who can calm me down in an instant.” Matias sighed in delight, taking in her jasmine and vanilla.

Eponine laughed, noticing the gold hue in her mate’s eyes, “it’s cute.”

“What is?” Matias was confused.

“That golden hue in your eyes, darling, ever since you marked me, it shows up when I’m around.” Eponine explained.

“Oh! That’s Balkin! He really likes you.” Matias felt Balkin taking over his body.

“Balkin at your service,” he kissed her hand, “pleased to meet you, princess.”

“Pleased to meet you as well, Sir Balkin.” Eponine smiled at him.

“I see why you like this one, her smile is beautiful.” Balkin chuckled softly.

“I know...she’s majestic.” Matias sighed.

“So, Sir Balkin, how long have you been with Monsieur Matias?” Eponine questioned, doing her nightly routine.

“Since birth, werewolves are tied to their wolf from birth to death.” Balkin smiled proudly.

“Did you know I was Monsieur Matias’ mate?” Eponine asked.

“Yep, but he knew before I did, maybe like a day before but who wants techinalicaties, Princess.” Balkin chuckled.

“Princess, I think Matias wants back control.” Balkin let go of control and let Matias come back.

“Matias,” Eponine turned around in her chair, “these days you have been,” she held her hands, “increible!”

Matias kissed her forehead, “I know, I just being with you has made me feel more alive than ever before.”

“But-” Eponine began, Matias sighed deeply, “why must there be a but?”

“After the tournament, if you win, I must go back to my kingdom.” Eponine looked down, “and you have to go back to New York.”

“No.”

“What do you mean no?” Eponine was taken aback.

“I mean that even if me and you go to different continents or different worlds,” he cupped her face, “I. Will. Not. Stop. Loving. You!”

“Matias,” Eponine sighed, “we both knew this would be temporary.”

“Temporary?! Wolves don't do temporary things when it comes to mates.” Matias told her.

“Well I’m not a wolf, Matias, I’m a werecat and this was only temporary.” Eponine stated.

“But it isn't!” Matias flung his hands in the air, “the moon goddess destined us to be together.”

“Maybe she gets it wrong.” Eponine muttered. Matias gripped her shoulders slightly, “no she doesn’t! Since the beginning of time, wolves and werecats’ mates have been written in the stars since their birth. One mate of for one werewolf or werecat.”

“But...Matias...I don't know…” Eponine looked away from him, “maybe we weren’t meant to be.”

“What are you talking about Eponine?! Of course we were meant to be! Come with me,” Matias and Eponine walked out onto the balcony, looking at the beautiful starry sky.

Matias pointed to the yellow star not too far off from a lavender star, “that yellow star is mine, and the lavender one is yours, my love.”

“So?”

“The moon goddess put stars together when they’re mates. Do you need anymore proof! Look at all these stars Eponine! Each one of those werecats and werewolves have mates! Some are miles apart while others are centimeters apart.”

Eponine looked into his green eyes, “maybe...this wasn't temporary.”

“It never was my love.” Matias kissed her lips, he picked her up, sitting her on the railing, “You’re so perfect, Eppy.” Matias whispered, brushing his fingers against her cheek, “so magnificent.”

Eponine felt her heart flutter at his words, “you’re making this too hard for me…”

“Then let me make it easier,” he bit her earlobe slightly, Eponine shivered, melting into his touch as Matias’ hands roamed up and down her waist, kissing along her neck.

“Ah!” Eponine gasped, gripping the back of his shirt, pulling him closer even though they were already close enough, “Ma-Matias!”

Matias chuckled, “you’re so hot when you say my name.” Matias licked over the mark on her neck, Eponine moaned a little too loudly, she cursed herself in french.

Matias kissed her lips, “it’s alright, love, it’s nice knowing how much pleasure I make you feel.”

As much as it pained her to do it, Eponine pushed Matias off of her, “baby…” she said breathlessly, “we need to talk about what will happen after all this is over.”

Matias nodded, “your right, I’m sorry.”

“Don't be, I should have told you sooner about this.” Eponine held his hands, “I know long distance is hard, especially for werecats and werewolves, but how about we have 2 months where either I come to the base or you come to the kingdom and one month where we are apart.”

“I don't care, my love, as long as I’m with you,” Matias kissed her hand, bowing down to the princess, “I promise you, Princess Eponine, I will battle in your honor.”

Eponine smiled, happy tears streaming down his face, “I’ve never had someone fight in my honor before.”

Matias kissed her forehead, “that’s because you’ve never been with someone like me before.”

“Awe,” Tangerine’s voice ended the cute moment between the couple, “your cuteness makes me sick!”

Matias held Eponine close, growling at Tangerine, “what are you doing here?”

“I’m just here to see how the princess is doing, did you think that clone would fool us?” Tangerine clicked her tongue and scoffed, “but you’ll be back with us tomorrow so it doesn’t mate.”

“She’s not going anywhere with you.” Matias’ eyes flashed blue.

“Matias,” Tangerine shook her head, “you’re so wrong, see win or lose, you only get to see your girl for 2 months and then she leaves for a month. You little wolf brain wouldn't make it.”

“You don't know anything about Monsieur Matias!” Eponine defended.

“Oh actually I do,” Tangerine smirked, leaning against the terrence window, “did you know that Matias has had 5 girlfriends before you? All which he broke off?”

“You did?”

“Yeah, and the last one was a werecat as well.” Tangerine saw the look of sadness and doubt in Eponine’s eyes.

“What?” Eponine whispered.

“She was crazy, Eponine, trust me.” Matias assured her.

“He broke it off during the season as well, I wonder when he’ll end this one.” Tangerine grinned wickedly.

“I’m not gonna end things with her, I marked her and I’m serious about Eponine.” Matias stated.

“Do you really think you deserve to be with a princess?” Tangerine eyed Eponine suspiciously. “You’re just a common street rat and she’s royalty. She deserves a prince, someone who can actually afford to take care of her.”

“He’s not a street rat! He’s my dragon! And I don't need a prince when I already have a dragon!” Eponine defended, hugging his arm.

“I’m gonna leave you with this; maybe Eponine is too good for you, Matias.”

As Tangerine left, Matias thought of her words, “huh...do you think she’s right?”

“Of course not honey, I told you, I don't want a prince, I want a Golden Dragon.” Eponine kissed his cheek.

“But wouldn't it be better if you have someone who is worthy of being with you?” Matias sulked.

“You’re already worthy of being with me, you already proved that to me.” Eponine wrapped her arms around him, “don't listen to Tangerine, she's an idiot.”

Matias wanted to trust her but a little part of him couldn't. That little part of him fading away when he felt Eponine kiss his lips, guiding him to the bed.

“Lets get some sleep, love, we have a big day tomorrow.” Eponine rested her head on his chest “I'll be cheering for you, my white wolf.”

Meanwhile, Emma and Sergio sat in the kitchen, their kids noticed the sad looks on their faces. “What’s wrong with them?” Gabriella asked as her, Hex, and Ector watched their parents from the kitchen island.

“I think they’re sad.” Ector guessed.

“No shit their sad, idiots!” Gloria and Emmanuel scolded, hitting them upside the head.

“Why though?” Hex questioned.

“Why don't you ask them!” Gloria said, pushing the kids towards the table.

“Mama,” Gabriella began, sitting down beside her, “is something wrong?”

“I’m worried, that’s all.” Emma sighed, holding Sergio’s hand.

“There’s a lot riding on these last two days, if Matias wins, we’ll be in the finals against Juniper.” Emma gritted her teeth when she said Juniper’s name.

Emma raked her hands through her hair, “even if Matias wins, we don't know what Juniper has instored for us in the finals and something tells me it won't be easy.”

“With Juniper,” Cruella yawned, “it never is.”

“What are you doing up, mi amour (my love)?” Hex asked, Cruella rubbed her eyes, sitting down next to Hex at the kitchen table.

“I couldn't sleep.” Cruella rested her head on Hex’s shoulder, “to be honest, I’m surprised we made it this far.”

“Why do you say that?” Ector questioned, taking a swig of her drink.

“Normally the last pick doesn’t make it to the semifinals.” Cruella said, “this is the first year the last pick has made it to the semifinals.”

“You don't see happy about that.” Gabriella noticed.

“I am happy, I just don't want to get my hopes up, I know Tangerine and Juniper are planning something for these last two rounds.” Cruella nervously fiddled with her fingers.

Hex placed his hand on top of hers, “and whatever it is, we’ll overcome it,” Hex kissed her hand, “I promise you Cruella, we’ll take them out together.”
