Cruella slid down the door, silently crying her eyes out. “I’ve always hated him...but I never thought...he went this far…”
She went into her puse, pulling out her phone and immediately calling Hex.
“Hello? Cruella?”
“He-Hex,” Cruella was so happy to hear his voice, tears streamed down her eyes.
“Cruella, what’s wrong? Why are you crying? Where are you?”
“I-I’m out-outside my apartment building...ca-can you pick me up?” Cruella stammered.
“Of course,” Hex grabbed his keys and jacket, “don't move, I’ll be there in 10.”
Emmanuel paced back and forth, he was pissed and already punched a hole in the break room wall at the mechanics. “Emmanuel,” Mama held his shoulder, “sit down, if you keep pacing you wear a hole into the floor.”
“I don't care, Mama! Marmalade is suffering in there and I don't even know where ‘there’ is!” Emmanuel scolded, pacing even more now.
“When was the last time you slept?” Gabriella asked, examining the bags under his eyes. “About 3 days ago…” Emmanuel muttered shamefully.
“For the sake of the gods,” Ector pulled him up to the spare bedroom, “sleep. Now!” Ector closed the door.
“What do you think just because you tell me I'll fall asleep, I’ll do it?” Emmanuel laid back, looking at the ceiling, and before he knew it, he was asleep.
“Hello,” Marmalade's voice was smooth like velvet. “Emmanuel, wake up.”
Emmanuel turned the other way “too early baby,” he pulled Marmalade down towards the bed “let's cuddle.”
“I would love to, Manny, but I have to open the shop.” Marmalade tried to wiggle out of Emmanuel's grasp but Emmanuel was determined to make Marmalade to stay.
“But I wanna cuddle…” Emmanuel murmured into her hair. “Fine, 30 minutes but you have to drive me to work.” Marmalade stated.
“Shhh…cuddle time.” Emmanuel whispered. “I love you, idiot.” Marmalade smiled, cuddling close with Emmanuel.
“I love you too, Marmalade…” Emmanuel yawned.
Hex pulled up to Cruella’s apartment, he exited his car to see Cruella crying on the steps. He rushed to her side, “Cruella, what happened?”
“Hex!” Cruella cried into his shirt, “all those lessons from your dad...about how a man respects a woman...they were true...right?”
“Yeah, of course they are,” Hex replied, lifting up her chin to reveal the black eye. His anger began to bubble, “who the hell did this to you?”
“Christopher…”
Hex intertwined his fingers with hers, “let’s get you out of here.”
“What about Christopher?”
“We’ll deal with him later,” Hex scrunched up his fist, “believe me, he’ll pay.”
Hex opened the door to the car, allowing Cruella to enter. “Uh...Hex, where are we going?”
“To my house, you’ll be safe there.” Hex said, smiling at her. Cruella smiled as well, “thank you, Hex.”
“No need to thank me,” Hex ruffled her hair, “I’d do anything for you.”
“You want me to do what?” Gabriella yawned, running her fingers through her unruly hair. “Just go get Cruella some clothes from her house, she’s gonna be staying with me for a while.” Hex explained.
“Why?” Gabriella dangeled her feet on the side of Diane and Gabriella’s bed. “I’ll explain later, can you just get the clothes, Gabriella?”
“Fine.” Gabriella put on her jacket, hanging up on Hex. Diane rubbed her eyes, “where are you going?”
“I have to go get Cruella some clothes from her apartment,” she kissed her lips, “I’ll be back soon.”
“Come back soon…” Diane smiled into her girlfriend’s pillow, taking in her scent. Gabriella smiled, “adorable.”
She walked down to the garage, turning on her motorcycle as she drove through the streets of New York before reaching Cruella’s apartment. She sneaked up to the terrace so she would cause an alarm to Christopher, but what she saw caused alarm to herself.
“Baby,” Christopher called out, “did you finish in the shower yet?”
“Yeah,” a female voice called back, stepping out of the bathroom, wrapping her blonde hair in a towel, “don't you think this is a little bad we’re hiding this?”
“I wouldn't define it as bad,” Christopher walked into the living room, “I’d call it sexy, kinda like our dirty little secret.” Christopher winked, wrapping his arms around the girl as she took off the towel from her head.
“I just feel bad, for Cruella ya know…” Summer muttered. Gabriella covered her mouth in shock before quickly grabbing some clothes for Cruella before leaving.
“Summer...and Christopher?!”
Hex unlocked the door to his house, letting Cruella walk into his house.
From the outside this house looks old, but wonderful. It has been built with cypress wood and has walnut wood decorations. Large, triangular windows let in plenty of light and have been added to the house in a fairly asymmetrical pattern.
The house is equipped with an old-fashioned kitchen and two bathrooms, it also has a cozy living room, 2 bedrooms, a large dining room, a library and a grand storage room.
The building is fairly rounded in shape. The house is fully surrounded by a patio.
The second floor is smaller than the first, which allowed for several small balconies on one side of the house. This floor has a slightly different style than the floor below.
The roof is flat and is covered with grey ceramic tiles. One large chimney pokes out the center of the roof. Many smaller windows let in plenty of light to the rooms below the roof.
The house itself is surrounded by grass, a huge tree in the center and bushes on the borders of the plot.
“Welcome to my humble abode.” Hex introduced. Cruella eyes sparkled, “it’s beautiful…”
“I’m glad you like it because you’ll be staying here a while.” Hex said. “Why?” Cruella asked. “I don't want you near Christopher,” he rubbed his fingers softly over her swollen eye “not after what he did to you.”
“I don't want him either…” Cruella muttered. “Does it still hurt?” Hex whispered. “A little…” Cruella whispered back.
Hex walked to the cabinet, pulling out a yellow serum and some cotton balls. “Sit,” Hex directed her to the couch, “this is a remedy Mama made when I was little.” he dabbed the serum on her eye, helping the burn.
“Cruella,” Hex looked into her amber eyes, “at the party, what were you gonna say?”
“He-Hex...I lo-” but before Cruella could finish there was a knock on the door. Hex sighed and opened the door to let in a worried Gabriella. “Here’s your clothes, Cruella.” Gabriella passed her the bag of clothes.
“There’s a room upstairs, you can get dressed there and head to sleep if you want.” Hex suggested. Cruella walked upstairs. Hex turned towards Gabriella, “well, spill, what did you see?”
“Summer and Christopher.”
“Oh shit,” Hex was shocked, “tell Emmanuel to have Summer lured out of the house for about half an hour.”
“Why?”
“Because,” Hex pounded his fist together, “we’re gonna teach that man a lesson.”
“You want me to come to the base, now?” Summer groaned, rubbing her eyes as she tried to get out of bed but Christopher wrapped his arms around her waist lovingly.
“Where are you going?” Christopher muttered, kissing sides. “The Boss wants me to go to the base right now, it’s probably something quick.” Summer replied, Christopher muttered something else but Summer couldn't understand him.
Summer ruffled his hair quickly before leaving with his jacket. Christopher looked up at the ceiling, “what’s wrong with me? Dating someone like her?” Christopher raked his hands down his face.
“I should’ve gone home that day, but I just had to stay didn’t I?” Christopher thought back to the day he met Summer.
Christopher walked down the dark streets of New York, the sounds of someone struggling rang through Christopher’s ears.
He stopped at the ally to see some man picking on a woman, pinning her to the wall roughly. “Give me the money!” the man demanded. “I-I-I don't have yo-you money!” she stammered.
He pulled out a switchblade, holding it to her stomach, “where is it, Summer?!”
“She said she doesn’t have the money,” Christopher stood menacingly behind, “so let her go.”
The man dropped Summer but still ran off with her purse, Chrstipher growled and tried to run towards him but Summer stopped him, “there wasn’t that much in that purse anyways.”
“You sure? Cause I can beat him up right now for ya.” Christopher asked. “Yeah, I’m sure, but thank you for scaring him off,” she smiled at him, “ya stupid dragon.”
“How’d you…?”
“You have green scales on your arm,” Summer pointed out. “Oh,” Christopher chuckled nervously when Summer tried to touch his scales, “you got hurt.” Summer went into her pocket, pulling out a small coin purse.
She reached into the coin purse, her entire arm going deep, “I should at least heal you for all you help.” Summer brought out some gases, wrapping them around his arms.
“I’m Summer Marteniz.” Summer smiled widely, “I like you dragon scales Chris.”
“Y-You do?”
“Yeah,” she ran her fingers over them, Christopher felt a jolt of pleasure rush over him, “and something tells me you like them too.”
“He-hehe…” Christopher rubbed the back of his neck in nervousness, “d-do yo-you want me t-to wal-walk you ho-home?”
“Sure,” Summer brushed stands of her blonde hair behind her ear, “thanks,” she locked arms with him, it’s nice knowing there’s a dragon here to keep me safe. Not that I can't keep myself safe, I mean it’s 2020 come on. I keep my own in a fight. But if you must walk me home then sure.”
“Long walk for a short drink of water.” Christopher chuckled. “Sometimes I tend to ramble…” Summer looked down. “Don't be ashamed,” he lifted her chin, “I think it’s cute.”
“Y-You do?” Summer suttered. “Yeah,” Christopher smiled widely, “your rambling is like a cute little habibit, it’s adorable really.”
“Shu-Shut up…” Summer muttered, she looked up to see the entrance to her apartment building. “This is my place,” Summer played with her hair, “uh...thank you, for tonight,” she looked up at him, “do you wanna have a drink? I just bought this new brandy that’s supposed to taste swell.”
Swell?! Great job Summer! He’ll think you’re some 50’s girl! Summer mentally scolded. “I’d love a swell brandy.” Christopher smirked, commenting at her previous sentence.
Christopher slung his arm around her, “I like you Summer, you got spunk.”
Summer blushed, “I guess I do have spunk…”
Christopher continued to stare at the ceiling, “we ended up making out in the elevator. That’s when it started, one make out turned into 2, then 4, then 6, then 18, we started dating.”
Christopher smiled widely, “screw her for making me a better person!”
“Does a quote ‘better person’ punch a woman in the eye?” Hex came from the shadows. “He-Hex...look I-I ca-can explain!” Christopher stammered.
“Oh no,” Hex walked slowly towards Christopher, “oh no, no, no, no!” he pinned the tembleming dragon to the wall, “I’m going to make this real simple for you tiny dragon mind,” Hex clutched the top of Christopher’s head with his large hand, “since you hurt my Cruella,” he pulled him into the living room, throwing him roughly in the chair as Gabriella preceded to tie him down, “we’re gonna hurt you!”
Christopher gazed into Hex’s fuming eyes as the main members of the Golden Dragons appeared from the shadows. He gulped in fear and looked down, “at least she wasn’t here to see this…” he looked back up at Hex and forced a cocky smile even though deep down he was scared and knew he deserved this, “do you worst.”
“Oh believe me,” Hex engulfed his hands in flames, “I will!”
