I was in front of Alya's bedroom door, manically walking around in circles. It has been two hours since she caused an earthquake and I barely managed to put her to sleep because it was the only way to calm her down. I have never seen anything like that in my entire life and I witnessed a lot of crazy shit.
"Do you think she'll be able to handle it?" Omega appeared behind the corner, walking into the hall I have been standing in.
You know, when I tell you I'm a nice demon, that doesn't include breaking into people's houses and watching too much porn. But, we needed this house more than the family, that was on vacation, did. The only thing I was worried about was Alya. She never experienced anything this intense and I don't know how to fucking help her.
"I don't know," I confessed, feeling drained out from everything that happened in the past few days. I haven't had a good sleep since Sawyer took Alya.
"We need to find Zephyr and I'm sure he'll know what to do," he comforted me. "She just needs to learn how to control herself and the powers she has since her birth. Once she owns them, it will be nothing but natural to use them."
"We'll help her," San meddled in with a small, comforting smile, hugging Omega from behind. "She seems like a fun and genuine person."
I frowned and leaned against the bedroom doors. "I'm just worried she will give up on me and Hell. She has been through so much while growing up."
San laughed and raised eyebrows in surprise. "Draven Knox? Worried?"
I know, I know. I'm amazed as much as you are from what just came out of my mouth. My mind is just so full of thoughts that I forget about controlling myself.
"He changed a lot since the last time you saw him," Omega smirked, looking at me, then her. "Dravy has a heart now."
San laughed, tilting her head back.
"Omega, shut the fuck up! I am the same mischievous, filthy demon I was in Hell," I defended myself, although, deep down, like deep, deep down, I knew it's not true. I changed because I have something to live for now.
I have something to lose.
"So, what do you plan on doing when you find Zephyr?" San changed the subject. "I mean, he obviously doesn't want to be found, so how will you bring him to Hell?"
"You guys will help me," I said like it was obvious. "We'll unite our powers and-"
"Draven, you know we can't do that," Omega interrupted me. "You have to do this by yourself. It's your mission."
I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion. "What the fuck are you talking about?"
San sighed and shook her head. "Those are the rules, Draven. This time you'll have to follow them."
I scoffed and crossed my arms. "Bloody hell if I will."
Omega shot me a warning look, crossing the free space between us in just a few steps. His eyes pierced through mine and just by his facial expression, I could tell he's trying to intimidate me.
"You have no fucking choice, brother. If you don't do this, you will have no Throne and Alya will go running back to Sawyer."
I stared at him, processing what I just heard. His words hurt my confidence because I knew he was right and, most of all, made me scared of life without Alya. Would she do that?
"What do you know about him? Give me anything," I said through clenched teeth, trying to control my anger. How the fuck do you let a demon escape fucking Hell?!
"Do you remember the time you were convinced Medusa Xelt was Salem's mother?" he asked me and I nodded in response. I almost laughed when I thought about those times. I was still young and all I wanted to do was mess around and play a detective.
"She didn't turn out to be her mother," I pointed out and Omega nodded. I looked at San, who was carefully listening to our conversation.
"Well, Zephyr, on the other hand, is her-"
"Father?!" I interrupted him, widening my eyes in shock.
"No, you fuckwit! Listen to me!" he yelled, glaring at me. I raised my hands in surrender and he continued. "He's her brother."
San and I both gasped in surprise, while she put hands over her mouth, looking at each other. "No fucking way," she mumbled. "Are you sure?" she asked, looking up at him.
He nodded and his facial expression turned serious. "He is the one who was supposed to raise her, but he... disappeared into the deep ends of Hell," he managed to spit out and I shivered just by the thought of it. "That's why her powers are so bloody strong - her childhood was traumatizing."
"What about her parents?" San asked, sounding slightly worried. Salem and San were never close, but Salem cared about Henna and that was enough for her.
"I don't know, she has it buried in the back of her head. I can't even approach that territory," he explained and his words raised curiousness in me.
"So, what do I do?" I asked him. As much as I'd hate to admit it, I was clueless about this area of thinking. I had no idea how to plan a battle or do a simple task as a ruler. The only reason why I'm looking forward to the Devil title is because I'll get the privilege to boss people around.
Pft, like I can't do it now.
Just wait until I get Alya in bed with me.
"Salem is his weak spot. Use it wisely," Omega simply replied.
"Okay, but I'm not going anywhere without Alya. She is coming along," I demanded and he sighed, rubbing the bridge of his nose.
I forgot I was leaning against doors until they opened and I fell on my ass. Omega and San laughed, followed by a small chuckle from above me.
"You're falling for me," Alya laughed, pointing out the situation I was in. I looked up to meet her icy eyes.
"I already fell for you."
She opened her mouth, trying to find the right words to say to that, but nothing came out.
"Oh, fuck off you two," Omega interfered, grabbing my arm and pulling me off the floor.
Okay, he is demanding.
"What is going on? Where are we?" Alya asked, hugging my arm. I looked down at her, a small, grateful smile creeping from my lips. She is alive and she is fucking mine.
"Hey, I'm Sanguina!" San introduced herself when she saw nobody else is going to do it, bringing Alya into a tight hug. She turned her head towards me, confusion spreading across her face. I nodded, letting her know there is nothing to be scared of. Alya then hugged her back, shortly afterward returning back to hugging my arm.
"I'm sure you heard a lot about me, like how bloody awesome and badass I am-"
"San, that is not the point," I interrupted her and she rolled her eyes, giving me a middle finger, before she walked away. Omega shot me a warning glare before he ran after her and I couldn't help myself, but laugh. I missed them. I missed my family.
Alya laughed and her silver eyes sparkled with amusement. "I like her."
I kissed her forehead and intertwined our fingers as she rested her head on my chest. At that moment was when I knew she will be okay. It will be a rough road and a lot of hard work, but I know as long as I'm by her side, we will pull through.
"I'm glad," I finally said, a cheesy smile stretching across my face. "But, little rebel, the real question is - are you ready for some adventure?"
✧
"What the fuck are you talking about?" Alya laughed as we walked through the woods. We barely managed to locate Zephyr, but when we did, we were sprinting out of the house to find him. I can't wait to get back to Hell with Alya and show her the entire Kingdom.
"I'm just saying," I laughed as our connected hands swayed between us. "You were chosen to be my, the future Devil's, partner, so you have to carry my babies."
"Draven!" she slapped my arm and I laughed. "I'm seventeen!"
I raised my eyebrows in question. "So? Demons start having children when they're fifteen," I explained and as a response, she slapped me again. "You sure do love touching me."
"Draven, you are not ready to be a bloody father."
I pouted, acting offended. "You call me daddy all the time."
She gasped. "I never fucking called you that!"
"Not yet."
She sighed in annoyance. "I will not have baby demons grow inside of me as soon as we enter Hell," she warned me, putting on a poker face. I couldn't take her seriously because she was so bloody cute while doing it.
"Who said anything about baby demons and Hell?" I provoked her with a smirk. "You'll have one, big demon inside of you right here on Earth."
She stopped walking and turned around to look at me. I tried so hard not to laugh when I saw her face expression. One thing I know for sure, though, is that my job should be annoying people. I'd fucking rock that - I would have a multi-million dollar company with a billboard that says 'FUCK OFF'.
"I honestly don't know what to say to you," she confessed, glaring into my eyes. "You, once again, left me speechless."
I laughed and took her hand into mine as we started walking again. "You are such a drama queen," I teased her.
"No, I just spend too much time with you," she shot back.
Honestly, I can't argue with that. People tend to let me know I overreact in every situation I end up in and make a fool out of myself for being childish, which I think is impossible.
Firstly, it's simply unbearable to even think about me being anything else, but perfect.
Secondly, what the fuck would you do if someone touched your girl? I, for example, tend to kill those pathetic fuckers and throw their lifeless bodies to alligators. It's not called being dramatic, but being Draven.
Suddenly, as we came closer to a small, wooden cabin Zephyr supposedly lives in, Alya's face expression changed from annoyance to fear in one second. She grabbed my arm, stopping me from further walking.
"I can't go in there," she whispered, still looking at the cabin with pure horror. "I can't go."
I furrowed my eyebrows in concern and cupped her chin, our eyes finally meeting. She looked traumatized and horrified, her eyes glistening with crystal tears.
"What is wrong?" I asked, but she looked to the ground, avoiding eye contact. "Hey, look at me," I cupped her chin again, studying her strange behavior.
"I... can't," she managed to spit out, turning her back on me. "I won't go inside!"
What the fuck is going on? Why are women so bloody complicated?
"Alya, you have to tell me what is going on," I pointed out, wrapping my arms around her waist. "I can't help you if you leave me out in the dark."
She sighed and turned around, tears streaming down her face. "I had, uh, a vision," she started, still sniffling. "I don't want it to become reality."
My body stiffened and the worse scenarios ran through my mind. "What happened in the vision?" I managed to ask. "If that poor excuse of a demon hurt you, I will kill him before he even looks at you!"
"No..." she took my hands into hers, burying her head into my chest. "My powers erupted again and I-I couldn't calm myself down," she cried out.
Bloody hell, is this really that hard for her? I embraced her tiny body and began stroking her soft, white hair. I seriously need to read a book about relaxing women, because this shit is impossible.
"Hey, let's go inside and if something happens, you will tell me, okay?" I told her and she nodded in response. "We will do this together."
I gave her hand a strong grip before we continued walking to the house entrance. When we reached the doors, we both stopped and I looked at her with raised eyebrows.
"I will be okay," she smiled and stood on the tip of her toes, kissing my cheek. "Let's get this over with."
I nodded and took a deep breath before I raised my foot and slammed the doors down. In a matter of seconds, a dude with navy blue hair and a pierced face appeared in front of us, looking like he's ready to start a war.
"Who the fuck are you?! Get out!" he hissed, glaring at both of us.
If I didn't know better, I would say he was trying to scare us away, but in reality, he's just a child who is pissing his pants from fear.
"I would watch your tongue if I was you," I looked down on him and walked inside pass him, dragging Alya with me. "You're talking to the Devil."
I heard him cussing under breath before he appeared in the poor living room we waited for him in. The reason why he didn't run is actually simple - he is too smart for that. He knows who I am and what will happen if he decides to try and escape.
"You're going to kill me, aren't you?" he asked me and plopped down on the sofa in front of me. Alya's body stiffened and she tightened the grip around my hand.
"No," I replied, smirking at him. "You know that would be too easy of a punishment. You escaped from Hell and you need to pay for the consequences."
He furrowed his eyebrows and sighed, covering his face with hands. "What do you want?" he mumbled.
"Do you know who this is?" I asked him and wrapped my arms around Alya. He looked at her, carefully studying her features. Soon enough, his facial expression changed from boredom to shock.
"S-Sybil of Sicily," he stuttered, looking at her with eyes wide opened.
"Sicily?" Alya asked him with a raised brow. "That is in Italy."
He stared at her for a while, with a stone-cold expression, before he looked at me.
"What do you want from me?" he repeated the question, this time sounding more paranoid.
"Tell us everything you know about Alya and her powers," I demanded while giving him a warning look if he decides to try anything.
"I-I don't know anything about-"
Before he could finish that sentence, my face was only millimeters away from his and my eyes were burning a hole through his skull.
"Wrong fucking answer," I spat out in his face through clenched teeth. "Do I need to remind you of a girl named Salem?" I smirked.
"No!" he screamed and grabbed my neck. "What do you know about her, eh?!"
I pushed him off me and kicked him in his ugly face. "You're underestimating me, mate," I raised my fist for another punch. "You will never-"
"Draven," Alya interrupted, pulling me backward. "Don't."
I looked at her and I could tell she is not fucking around. "Fine," I sighed, looking back at Zephyr. "This is how it's going to go down. You will tell us everything you know about Alya's powers and I won't kill your little sister."
He looked at me with hesitation and I showed him I am not kidding.
I will kill Salem if I need to.
He cussed under breath before he finally let his guard down. He looked at Alya, who was still standing next to me, now hugging my arm.
"You were born on Sicily-"
"Who are my parents? Are they alive?" she cut him off before he could explain any further.
"Hey, you need to relax," I whispered into her ear. "Remember what you told me?"
She sighed and nodded, stepping away to the wall on my right. I crossed my arms and gave Zephyr a sign to continue. "Your birth was predicted millions of years ago," he started. "Ancient Greece and the Roman Empire spread myths about you. Little children were told stories about a woman warrior who will change the world. Great artists like Michelangelo and Raffaello painted your birth, which was not ordinary. You were born out of a real fire."
"Out of a wha-"
"Alya, let him finish," I interrupted her and as a response, she gave me a middle finger. Zephyr shot me a thankful look and cleared his throat.
"The reason why you were born this way is because you are a goddess. If actual people created you, it would mean God was your only parent and your powers would be non-existent," he continued, trying to explain the situation. "This way, you can go with God or against him, although I assume you already chose your path."
I sighed, rubbing the bridge of my nose. "What does that have to do with her powers?"
"She can't go to Hell and train properly if she doesn't have a bracelet like ours," he pointed out, looking at my left wrist. "She needs to create her ticket, otherwise she will die going there."
She walked to the couch, looking at Zephyr. "How the fuck am I supposed to create my bloody ticket?"
"The only way possible," he replied. "You need to go to the place where you grew up and find the thing which you feel the most attached to."
I furrowed my eyebrows, stepping in. "What if she chooses wrong?"
He shrugged, leaning back into the couch, with a smirk plastered on his face. "She will die."
