The Devil's Weakness
Lonna shivered at the cold wind that hit her as she waited in front of the school. Once she saw Jungkook come out, she decided to follow him.
Suga's POV
"You talk to much." Suga yelled at Jisoo.
"Sorry." Jisoo's head dropped in apology.
"I'm confused." Jin spoke up. "The guy who pretended to be a student here and got close to Lonna...is actually your little brother?"
"Kooky came here?" Jisoo asked surprised by the information.
"I'll go get her." The tiredness he felt a moment ago was now replaced with worry as he rushed out of the gym. Jisoo felt the same way as he when she watched him leave.
Lonna's POV
"So you're in high school?!" Lonna couldn't just follow him, she had to find the answers to the questions that were bugging her.
"So what?" Jungkook's voice was even and calm, like he had been expecting Lonna to show up. "Who told you? Min Yoongi?"
"I didn't tell him about you." Jungkook made a tsk sound before walking away. "Stop!" Jungkook stopped the instant Lonna told him to. "This was Min Yoongi's high school. What's your connection?"
Jungkook stayed turned away from her, so she couldn't see any emotions on his face. "You pursued me, because you hate suga. The other day, on the roof...what did you mean by it? Lonna tried her best to stay calm.
Jungkook smirked. "Why not go ask him? Why ask me?" Lonna sighed in annoyance as Jungkook started walking away. He didn't get far though.
A group of boys with the same uniform on walked up to Jungkook and pushed him down to the ground. Lonna muffled the gasp with her hand as she witnessed it. Jungkook pushed himself up off the ground and rolled his eyes as he wiped the dirt from the knees of his pants. "What do you want now?" He asked the bigger boy, who seemed to be the leader.
The boy crouched on the ground to get face to face with Jungkook. "You want to be a punk or you want to get beat up? You pick." The boy gave Jungkook a smile as he patted his shoulder with force. Jungkook cringed at the sight of his mostly toothless smile.
Lonna could feel the anger rise in her. Seeing Jungkook getting picked on, brought back bad memories. "Enough." She said as she stomped over to the group of boys. "Hey! So many of you picking on him! Aren't you ashamed?!" She sounded like a mother scolding her child.
"Who are you? Intruding in our school, is that right?" The boy yelled at her, he was obviously unfazed by her display of bravery. Lonna hated herself for allowing the boy to render her speechless. He turned his attention back to Jungkook. He slapped him in the face lightly with his hand over and over. "This guy tried to use Min Yoongi's old influence...to go rampant. He's a loser."
Lonna couldn't help but feel sorry for Jungkook as he looked so helpless. The boy grabbed Jungkook's dress shirt collar and attempted to straighten it back out. "Kooky. Is Min Yoongi really your brother?"
Lonna couldn't believe what she heard. "Suga is your brother?" The boy rolled his eyes and shook his head no.
"Of course he is. You better watch out..." Jungkook was trying to act tough, even though he was shaking. "Someday, he'll make you pay!" He screamed in the boy's face.
"Someday." The boy smiled again. "Which day?" Jungkook had had enough as he left his stuff behind and tried to walk away. Another boy hit him hard in the back of the head as he passed. The force was so great that Jungkook lost his balance.
The boys left soon after and Lonna ran after Jungkook. Jungkook was so busy being angry that he didn't see the person walking in his direction. The person showed no mercy as he slammed his shoulder hard into Jungkook's side, sending him crashing to the ground in pain.
Lonna's mouth dropped open as she got closer a look at who had caused Jungkook to fall. "Suga."
Sadness enveloped Jungkook's face as he looked up at Suga. He half thought he was imagining things. "Brother..." Jungkook called out to him. Suga's face was full of anger as he gave Jungkook one glace, before walking past him, saying nothing as he grabbed Lonna's arm and started reading her back past a dejected Jungkook.
Lonna didn't fight Suga as he dragged her away, but the look on Jungkook's face as she looked back at him disturbed her. Why does Jungkook have that expression? The expression of being deprived. Jungkook looked like he was on the verge of tears as they walked out of sight.
After walking a good bit away, Lonna pulled her arm out of Suga's tight grip. "Suga. It hurts!" She exclaimed as she rubbed the sore muscle.
"Why didn't you tell me?" Lonna was surprised his voice didn't sound angry. She looked up into his face. His soft expression confused her.
"I..." Suga interrupted her.
"You met Jungkook a couple of days ago, right? Why didn't you tell me?" The softness of Suga's voice made Lonna's guilt multiply, she couldn't even look him in the eyes.
"Because..." Lonna's voice was small. "I didn't know you two were..." She finally looked Suga in the eyes. "Is he really your younger brother?" Suga's expression changed to one of sadness. It was his turn to act ashamed as he looked away from Lonna's gaze.
"He's the one my mother took." His voice sounded so vulnerable to Lonna's ears.
"Why didn't you mention this?" Lonna's heart felt crushed for Suga.
"I don't want to talk about it. I wish you would have anything more to do with him. Okay?" Lonna stood silent. The fact that Suga wouldn't open up to her hurt. Suga got tired of her to agree to his request. "Let's go back." He started to leave.
"Suga!" Lonna called out making him stop. Suga could her the pity she was feeling in her voice and it made him feel guilty.
"Stop it." He warned her.
"But Suga..." Lonna ignored his warning. "If you're really brothers..."
Suga was starting to get annoyed with the direction Lonna's conversation was going. He didn't have it in him to argue with her at the moment. "Can you get back by yourself?" Suga didn't give her time to answer as he turned and walk away. He needed peace and quiet to sort through his feelings.
Lonna frowned as she watched him leave. Why does Jungkook hate Suga? That was the question that plagued her thoughts as she walked slowly home. Suga, he is your brother. The thought came to her mind as she remembered the cold expression Suga had as he looked down on Jungkook.
Almost to the gym finally, Lonna was stopped by a person she never expected to see. Jisoo walked across the sidewalk to get in Lonna's way. "Why were you seeing Kooky?" Lonna didn't see any anger or ill intentions coming from her, just plain curiosity.
"I wanted to know...why he hated Suga." Lonna answered truthfully.
"Did you know that when Suga was in high school, he was an absolute hell raiser?"
"I didn't know." Lonna was surprised Jisoo was actually talking to her.
"When Kooky first started school, it was when Suga was at his most volatile. The Suga back then, thought of everyone as his enemy. He was always fighting. Didn't care about anything. Everyone was afraid of him. People were always cautious around him." The many fights that Suga had flashed through Jisoo's memory.
"I'd often see Kooky watching Suga from afar. They never spoke, but I had the feeling, Kooky wanted Suga to see him. But... Suga was always against giving Kooky an approving look." Lonna looked out over the city as Jisoo told her story. "From a distance, I'd see Kooky watching Suga. Never willing to talk, but I could see the special interest he had in Suga. But Suga wasn't interested at all. One could say...he didn't want to accept him."
"Not accept him?" Lonna was so lost in her thoughts that her voice was barely audible. "Bloodline, family, brotherly love...how can they be denied?"
"You'll soon find out, that to Suga, Kooky is off limits." Jisoo warned her. Suga's early request came to Lonna's mind. I wish you wouldn't have anything more to do with him. Lonna looked over at Jisoo. "Why does he see his brother as off limits?"
Jisoo gave her a shocked look. "How much do you actually know about Suga?" Lonna was thrown by her question. "There are no perfect people in this world. No matter how strong Suga looks, he has his weak side. He has a wound he doesn't want anyone to touch."
"Wound?" The day on the roof with Kooky flashed back for Lonna.
"Not everyone is as resilient as you." Jisoo said.
The wound is Jungkook. Lonna wondered what that meant for the two brothers and she knew that no matter how she tried, she couldn't just drop this like Suga wanted her to.
