The Devil's Tears

Jungkook was shook by his mother's betrayal. He had known asking his brother to come was her plan, but she had made a promise. Looking from the hurt on both Suga's and Lonna's faces, made him even more angry. He slammed his fist down on the table making everyone jump. He looked at his mother. "Didn't you promise not to bring this up?!" He screamed.

"If I don't say it now, when?!" She screamed back. All Jungkook could do was turn a pitied stare to his brother. Lonna didn't dare move or make a sound, even though every fiber in her body wanted her to ask the questions that her brain was screaming.

Seeing Lonna's scared expression, Ms. Jeon wiped the angry tears from her cheeks and softened her voice. "Sorry, I scared you." She turned her full attention to Lonna. "But, I wanted you to hear it, too."

"Mom!" Jungkook yelled in warning, earning him an angry glare that made him drop his head in shame.

Fully ignoring his request for her to stop, his mother once again turned her attention to Lonna. "At the time, I didn't want to leave Yoongi behind, I was coerced!" As hard as Lonna tried not to, the sadness she saw in her eyes made her slightly pity the woman. "At that time, I wanted to take him, to raise him, but they said I couldn't! Said that I didn't have the financial ability. Letting me take Jungkook was their biggest concession!"

Lonna felt like she wanted to cry, but not for the pitiful woman in front of her. The thought of Suga's feelings, hearing the mother he had always thought abandoned him, didn't. She knew he had to be hurting. "They said..." Ms. Jeon continued. "Yoongi was their heir. He was needed to succeed the family. So I had to give him up!"

"Stop it!" Lonna jumped at Suga's loud voice. He had heard enough, he couldn't handle his emotions being pulled any longer and he refused to let his mother do this to him. "It's past history. Complaining now? What are you hoping to gain?"

"But what I am telling her is true! Yoongi, I..."

"I?" Suga cut her short. His nerves had taken enough. "I have no intention of living with you!" He screamed. This shocked everyone at the table. "I won't go to Italy!"

"I see." His mother's voice was full of sadness, which made Suga feel like he was about to break. He had only just seen his mother for the first time since she left him, years ago. He had only hoped she wanted to know him as much as he did her, but it hurt him that she had used this as a way to hurt the people he cared for. He had only ever wanted her to want him, but to do it like this was breaking his heart more than when she left. Her show of fake tears, angered him. He quickly got up to leave and Lonna quickly followed him.

Just before he got to the stairs that would go back to the hotel lobby, he stopped. Lonna stopped as well, but allowed some space to be between them. Suga could feel his chest start to hurt, and holding in his tears was becoming harder. He didn't want Lonna to see him breakdown.

Lonna looked at Suga's trembling back with pity in her eyes. She was angry at herself for letting his mother trick her, and mad at his mother for ruining a night that she knew Suga had looked forward to. Before she could say anything to him, Jungkook walked up beside her. "Lonna, mom wants us to wait downstairs."

As much as she didn't want to, she agreed. She moved to tell Suga where she was going, but before she made it to him, he walked further away. "Going to the restroom." Was all he said, but Lonna knew by his angry walk, that he needed to cool down, so she knew it was best if she just left him alone for now, despite the urge to comfort him.

Jungkook and Lonna both walked gloomily down the hall, side by side. "So much effort for us to meet, now we are parting on bad terms." Lonna could hear the guilt laced in his voice, but she knew this wasn't his fault. "I told my mom it was impossible. I said he would never abandon you, and leave by himself." Seeing Lonna's head drop in sadness made him even more guilty. "Sorry, noona."

"It's ok. I was caught off guard, that's all..." She was so mad to not have seen this coming. To think of Suga saying he would leave for even a second, scared her. She tried to tell herself Jungkook was right, that he would never leave her, but something told her, that may be just wishful thinking.

Suga's POV

Suga angrily slammed the bathroom door open and quickly ran over to the sink. He splashed handful after handful of cold water on his face.

The coldness of the water made his heavy angry breathing start to calm, and the on-coming panic attack start to disappear. It distracted him from the ache in his chest, that made his lungs feel like they were being crushed by a truck.

His mistake was looking in the mirror. His reflection only refueled his anger. The red in his eyes, from forcing himself to hold back his tears, made him hate her. He gripped the edge of the sink tightly to keep from running his fist through it.

Jungkook paced nervously checking his watch every five seconds. "So slow. What is taking them so long?" He asked, as he looked down the hall.

Lonna leaned away from the reeling she had been against and started walking away. "I'll go see." She said.

Knowing that Lonna was probably just as uneasy about them as he was, Jungkook decided to just let her go.

After getting his emotions as controlled as he could, Suga left the bathroom with a fake smile stretching his lips. It faded as soon as he saw her, his mother didn't even turn to look at him. She just stood their with that same hurt expression on her face as she waited for him. Deciding that he didn't want to lose the little control he had, Suga tried to quickly pass her.

Seeing her son's shoes, Ms. Jeon knew this was her chance. "Please reconsider!" She yelled.

Hearing her speak, made Suga stop in his tracks. Ms. Jeon snuck a look at his face. Seeing his jaw clenched tightly and his fists gripped tightly, she knew he was about to lose what ever control he had, but she hoped to use that to her advantage as she walked over to him and softened her voice. "Yoongi, my son, you were a good kid who always listened to his mother, right?"

Lonna stopped as soon as she saw them. She hid herself so they wouldn't see her, but she could see and hear them. She could tell that Suga was being torn by whatever his mother had said to him and she could feel her heart beat nervously in her chest. She wondered if he was about to change his answer.

"You're worried about Lonna, aren't you?" At the sound of Lonna's name, Suga's whole body tensed. "Once she understands that you really want to go with me, she'll forgive you." Suga still refused to look at her, so she grabbed a hold of his hand and started to lovingly rub it as she did when he was upset as a child. She hoped it would calm him. "Yoongi...I have missed you so much. Please son, say yes, okay?"

Yoongi knew she was only trying to manipulate him into changing his answer, and her motherly actions were the way she had chose to do it. He quickly ripped his hand away from her and turned his rage filled eyes towards her. "You're just like before!" His angry scream even made Lonna jump from her hiding place down the hall. "You haven't changed at all. All you know...is how to dump your problems onto me. Always thinking of yourself."

Seeing her motherly approach had backfired, Ms. Jeon hoped pleading would work. "I only want a chance to make it up to you." She clung to his jacket sleeve as she let go of the river of tears. "I want more than the title of biological mother, I want to be a real mother to you. One who cares for you and loves you. One you are proud of!"

Suga quickly turned his head away from her painful tears and bit his lip to keep a hold on his own tears that threatened to fall. "Stop joking! I've already forgotten what it's like to have a mother." Even though Suga was putting up a strong front for his mother, Lonna could see the hurt he was trying to hide. "So I don't need one." He said making his mother cry harder.

This only angered Suga more. "Now you want to be a mother? Want me to go with you? All your explanations...make me feel like I've had enough!" He turned his angry glare back in her direction. "I refused to be used by you to take revenge on that house!" He pulled his sleeve out if her hands and started to stomp off. Lonna came out of her hiding spot as he made his way to her. Seeing her, made him stop in his tracks.

"I'm not!" Ms. Jeon screamed, making Suga jump in surprise. Lonna felt her heart ache as she watched the older woman, grip her purse tightly to her as if it was her life line. "You can't say that about me." The brokenness of her voice, called to the child inside of Suga, who only wanted to comfort his mother, but he forced himself to ignore it and continue walking. He quickly grabbed Lonna's wrist and started pulling her behind him. "I don't want to take revenge!" She screamed.

"I only want to have my child..." The tears started to pour from Lonna's eyes as she looked back and saw the woman fall brokenly to her knees. "Back at my side!" Even though he screams reached Suga, refused to stop.

Once they had exited the hotel, Lonna finally put up resistance to Suga's painful pulling. "Suga!" She yelled.

Hearing her yell his nickname, snapped Suga out of his angry thoughts and made him stop walking and let her go. Hearing her, had made all the frustration he had felt instantly wash away, but what scared him was the pain that stayed. It was overwhelming him. He started to lose control when he felt her warm comforting hand gently touch his shoulder. "Suga, I'm here."

That was all it took for his emotional wall to break. He instantly turned around and pulled Lonna into a hug, his body was racked with sobs as he buried his face into the crook of her neck. "I wanted to see her!" He cried. "Truth is...I really wanted to see her! I really wanted to see her..."

Lonna tried to comfort him by rubbing her hand in small circles on his back, but he only cried harder. "Suga, hold me tighter." She requested and Suga instantly pulled her closer, like she was the only thing that was keeping him tethered to this world, like she was a child's teddy bear. Breathing became harder as he crushed her body to his, but she ignored it. "I'm right here, can you feel that? I swear, I'm not going anywhere." She hoped some reassurance would help calm the panic attack he was having.

"I really wanted to see her. I really wanted to see her..." Hearing him only repeat himself broke Lonna's heart. She had never seen Suga this shook over anything. As the panic attack started to calm down, Lonna just let him cry and continue to cling to her as she silently ran her finger through his soft blonde hair.

Mr. Min's POV

Mr. Min sat in the chair, impatiently staring at the front as Pamela gently moved her thumb over the back of his tense hand. She had been trying to comfort him since he had told her why Suga meeting his mother had bothered him, but it seemed the only thing that would make him feel better was Suga coming home.

As soon as she silently wished it, Suga and Lonna came through the door, making Mr. Min and her rush towards them, with fake smiles to hide their emotions. "How'd it go?" Mr. Min asked Suga.

Suga ignored his father and walked past him to the stairs. "I'm going to bed." He said sadly before starting to acsend.

"Is he ok?" Mr. Min asked turning his concerned expression to Lonna. Lonna could only sadly shake her head. As much as he wanted to run to comfort his son, Mr. Min stopped himself.

Lonna's POV

After taking a shower and getting ready for bed, Lonna sat in the bean bag chair beside her bed and sadly stared at the gift bag in her hands. "Doesn't feel right to give this to him now." She said sadly.

She reached into the bag and pulled out the small card and read it. 'Happy birthday Suga! The many troubles we have faced, have only served to make us stronger. We will be together forever! I love you!'

Lonna sighed sadly as she ripped it up. "The way it's written. It's like I am telling him not to go." She tossed the bag on her desk and tried to sleep.
