Leaving

“Why are you going back to Busan?” Lonna asked her mother as Pamela handed Suga a napkin.

“Before the wedding, your grandma and I need to formally ask Pamela’s family for her hand in marriage.” Mr. Min explained.

“The practice itself isn’t that important. I thought we could use this opportunity for the two sides of the family to meet. It’ll be great. Since it’s a long weekend, we’ll all go.” Pamela added.

“Me…me too?” Lonna stuttered.

“Grandma misses you.” Pamela said.

“I’m not going.” Suga said before Lonna had the chance to argue.

“How could you?” His father asked. “You have to go.”

“You’re the ones getting married. Don’t involve me.” Suga said staring at his father.

Mr. Min clicked his tongue against his teeth in annoyance. “What are you talking about? They’re going to be our relatives.”

Seeing Suga’s depressed expression, Pamela instantly felt bad. “It’s okay. The trip is long and tiring. If Yoongi doesn’t want to go. Don’t force him.”

“But, it’s rude.” Mr. Min said. “Since in the future, Yoongi will be your son, and Lonna’s brother, he should go visit your relatives.”

Lonna could feel her heart squeeze with sadness as Mr. Min spoke. Suga took a deep breath to try and wipe away his own feelings. “Auntie, it’s not about you. I’m really not interested.”

Mr. Min’s mouth dropped open in disbelief. “Yoongi…”

“It’s okay.” Pamela interrupted him before he could start arguing with his son. She started playfully pulling on his arm. “He doesn’t have to go.” She put her hands on his cheeks and pinched the ends of his lips, lifting them upward. “Smile.” She then gave him an air kiss.

“I can’t go either.” Lonna said softly. Suga turned his attention to her. “I already have plans with Krystal.” Not wanting to be bias, Pamela granted her request and gave Mr. Min a small pat on the arm to encourage him not to be sad. Lonna looked at Suga from the corner of her eyes, just as he went back to eating his breakfast.

After Breakfast

Pamela smoothed out the wrinkles of Mr. Min’s suit jacket after she helped him put it on. After straightening out the front, Mr. Min turned and gave Pamela a sad smile. “Pamela, sorry. That kid Yoongi has never known how to deal with adults.”

Pamela giggled as she reached up to fix the jacket’s collar. “It’s okay. Lonna can’t go, either. I was afraid you would be disappointed.”

“Regarding us remarrying, maybe the kids are not as accepting.” Mr. Min said.

Pamela frowned a bit before forcing herself to smile. “No…our happiness, our kids would never go against it.”

Mr. Min looked her in the eyes and grabbed ahold of her hands before hesitantly nodding in agreement.

Lonna’s POV

Suga held the umbrella so that the rain that fell around him and Lonna wouldn’t soak them as they walked together to school. “For the long weekend where are you going?” He asked.

“Huh?” Lonna asked confused.

“Didn’t you say you had plans with Krystal?”

“No plans.” Lonna confessed.

“Oh…” Suga said as he smirked. “You lied to auntie. You’re getting naughty.” He teased.

Lonna bumped her shoulder against his and laughed. “Actually I have somewhere I want to go alone.”

“Where?” Suga asked.

“I want to visit my dad’s grave.” Lonna answered. “So I don’t want them to know.”

Suga nodded his head before sighing. “You think too much.”

“Maybe.” Lonna shrugged.

“I’ll go with you.” Lonna turned her head in his direction. “I want to visit your dad, too.”

Lonna was thankful for his offer but didn’t want him to feel forced. “But, it’s pretty far.”

“No problem.” Suga said giving her a big smile. Lonna couldn’t hide that the fact he was going made her happy. Suga wanting to visit her father with her, made her feel like he was trying to show her how serious he was about her and she was thankful to him.

At School.

Krystal eyes went wide as she moved closer to Lonna. “They’re going on a trip alone?” She asked.

“Technically, they are going to grandma’s to discuss the marriage.” Lonna said.

“And…” Krystal took a few steps closer. “How long will they be gone?”

“About three days and two nights.” Krystal bit her bottom lip and stared mischievously at Lonna.

“Hmm…” She slowly circled to the other side of Lonna before laughing creepily and leaning back towards her.

“What?” Lonna asked confused as to why her friend was acting so weird.

Krystal instantly stopped her act and gave Lonna an intense stare. “You better be sharp.”

“Huh?” Lonna tilted her head.

“Put your best foot forward.” Krystal said.

“What are you talking about?” The more Krystal talked the more confused Lonna seemed to get.

Krystal sighed as she adjusted her purse strap on her shoulder. “You don’t get it? They’re going on a long trip, right?” Lonna nodded her head as she listened to Krystal explain. “And, they’ll be gone two nights, right?” Lonna again nodded her head as she looked at the two fingers Krystal was holding up. Krystal smirked. “So, a big house with only you and Suga…two nights without any interruption!” She looked over at Lonna who was now staring off into space. She put her arm around Lonna’s shoulder and patted it. “So…get it now?”

“Huh?” Lonna asked still confused.

“Enjoy, Lonna!” Krystal said loudly giving her another creepy smile. Lonna stared into her friend’s eyes and it clicked what she had been talking about, her face turned to one of shock and slight fear.

“No way.” Lonna said after the shock wore off. Krystal stood there shaking her head slowly, smiling, as Lonna continued to stare at her with her mouth wide open.

Pamela’s POV

“Is flower tea alright?” Pamela asked as she walked back to Suga’s grandmother, holding a cup.

“Sure, sure.” Grandma said as she scooted to the edge of the living room chair to grab the tea.

“It’s hot.” Pamela said as she sat on the couch next to her.

“Thank you.” Grandmother said. Once Pamela had settled, Suga’s grandmother looked over at her. “Pamela, you two have decided to leave those two kids home?”

Pamela nodded her head. “The betrothed process is only symbolic. The kids aren’t interested. It’s only understandable.”

Suga’s grandmother bit her bottom lip as she nervously fiddled her thumbs. “That may be true, but…” Rethinking she went quiet.

“What is it?” Pamela inquired.

Grandmother laughed lightly as she decided to reword what she was going to say. “Maybe because I’m old and think too much…” Pamela eyebrows raised in confusion as she observed the way the older woman seemed uncomfortable. “Those two kids…” She started to play with the napkin that Pamela had given her with the tea as her nerves got worse. “They are about to become siblings in name, but when you get down to it, they’re not related by blood.”

“But they get along very well.” Pamela said proudly.

Grandma leaned closer to Pamela and gave her an intense stare. “I’m afraid they may be getting along too well.” She sat nervously as she watched Pamela take in and understand what she meant.

Pamela couldn’t help but giggle. “Mom. Why are you worrying about this?” She asked thinking the old woman had no reason to think this way.

Suga’s grandma didn’t laugh. “If something did happen, it would be too late, Pamela.” Pamela was shocked to find that grandmother was serious about the prospect. “You’re worried, too.” Grandmother said. Pamela blinked at the older woman. “Look, those two kids, with their raging hormones, are still young. I am afraid that if they couldn’t control themselves, then…”

“Mom.” Pamela interrupted her. “Is this how you see my daughter?” Suga’s grandmother went to say something in her defense but stopped. She was worried by the way Pamela stared back at her. “Maybe in comparison to the Min family my family’s situation is not ideal, but Lonna’s teachings and expectations are no less than any other child’s.”

“I don’t mean anything like that.” Grandma said to calm Pamela down. “I know family background doesn’t decide a person’s character. Besides, I really like Lonna, just like I’m happy you’re willing to be apart of our family.”

“Then why?” Pamela tilted her head in confusion.

“I just think leaving two immature kids at home alone…” She stopped talking afraid of choosing the words that would anger Pamela again.

Pamela placed her hand gently on the older lady’s hand. “Mom, please listen seriously to what I have to say, I taught Lonna personally. I trust her to know how to behave. And regarding Yoongi, I have never doubted he is a good kid.”

“Right…” Grandma said giving up the losing battle. “You’re right. I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said those things.”

Pamela realized she may have reacted the a little to harshly. “It’s alright.”

“Look, I’m old and confused. If those two kids didn’t get along, then I should worry.” Suga’s grandmother said trying lift the awkward atmosphere. “Because they get along so well…I…that…that’s a good thing.” Despite her smile Pamela couldn’t help but wonder if she was just being blind to something, but to agree that Mr. Min’s mother was right hurt her pride as a mother. “Nothing wrong with that, right?”

Suga’s grandmother turned her head away from Pamela and sipped her tea quietly. Pamela bit into her lip as she tried not to worry about if grandma was right or not. She trusted her daughter, but with the way she had been acting lately, and the things Pamela had seen between the two, it was hard for her to be sure that the old lady was entirely wrong.

A/N: Well wonder how this will turn out...plus of course grandma done spilt her fears, this can be bad.

Happy Easter everyone! I am going to try and post once more before getting ready to leave for my family dinner...yay!...note my enthusiasm. Hope you all have a great day. Love you.
