First Time in 10 Years

Suga and Lonna were dressed in their best, but still the butterflies in both their stomachs remained. The fact that Pamela and Suga's father was now following them to the car didn't make the situation better. The two turned and gave as good a smile as they could muster in their nervousness to the parents in front of them. Pamela's proud smile hadn't faded one bit, but Mr. Min seemed less enthusiastic about his son meeting the woman that he calls mom.

Pamela tried her best to defuse the stare off between father and son by interrupting the awkward silence. She lightly tapped on his shoulder. "Darling, look. Our babies are so good looking." Mr. Min didn't even smile or try to agree, instead he just let his head drop. Pamela rolled her eyes and walked over to Suga, who was obviously nervous. She bushed a small strand of hair from his eyes and gave him a kind smile. "Yoongi, I can promise you, that when your mother sees you, she will be very proud."

Even though he knew she meant to calm him it didn't work. He took a deep breath and took a small step away from her to look at his father, who had yet to look back in his direction. He wondered if he had made him mad, but he didn't have the time to ask. "Dad, we're going." Was all he could think to say in farewell.

Mr. Min's head shot up in the direction of Lonna and his son, who were now heading to the car. Before he could stop himself, he had reached out and grabbed Lonna's hand nearest to him to stop her. He could tell his behavior had confused her by the expression she gave him. "Yoongi, please look after him." He sais kindly trying his best to keep his cool and not worry Lonna too much.

Sensing his worry, Lonna put her hand on his shoulder and gave him a sweet smile as she nodded in agreement to do as he said.

Suga gripped the steering wheel tightly as Lonna got in the seat beside him and shut the car door. He couldn't remember a time he had been more nervous in his life, but he was glad Lonna was there. Just her presence gave him some small bit of courage. Lonna gave her mother a wave goodbye as they pulled off to go and meet the mother Suga hadn't seen or heard from since he was little.

Jungkook paced the floor as he checked his watch and the door to the hotel for what felt like the millionth time in the last ten minutes. He had just gotten his phone out of his pocket when the two people he was about to call walked through the doors. A huge smile graced his face as he ran up to his brother and Lonna to greet them. "Hyung. Lonna." The two smiled back at him.

Ms. Jeon jumped up from her seat on one of the lobby couches and stared over open mouthed at the son she had lost years ago. He had grown so much and as she looked him over, the calmness she had had before he arrived was now disappearing with the worry of how he would react when he noticed her. She frantically fumbled around as she tried to straighten out her clothes and run her hands over her hair to put any out of place strands back. Her heart felt like it was ready to jump from her throat as she watched her two sons talk with each other.

"Sorry we're late." Suga said to Jungkook.

His younger brother quickly shook his head. "No problem. We just arrived ourselves." He lied. He locked eyes with Lonna who gave him a suspicious stare and chuckled nervously.

Lonna was starting to lose the confidence she had been faking for Suga now that they had arrived. She wondered if Suga really meant what he had said about not seeing her as his mother. She knew he was good at covering up his feelings, but could he really hide from this kind of pain? Looking over at the scared face beside her told her that Suga wasn't as sure as before either. Jungkook pulled both of them from their thoughts as he yelled over his shoulder. "Mom!"

Both of their eyes followed his line of sight before coming to a stop on a well dressed woman across the room. She stood frozen as Suga's eyes met hers like she was scared any movement would scare him away. Suga felt his chest tighten as he looked her up and down. It was taking everything in him to stop himself from running up to her, but if it was to greet her happily or with venom, he was unsure. He was still trying to believe she was really there in front of him looking like she did when he last saw her.

Time seemed to slow as she seemed to glide across the floor towards him. Neither of them could even blink as she grew closer. Jungkook and Lonna both stared at the pair with worry. Once she made it up to him, Ms. Jeon smiled at Suga. "You've grown." Her voice came out shaky, telling him she was just as nervous about this as he was. Suga was unable to speak, so he just nodded his head in answer.

Ms. Jeon instantly turned her attention on Lonna. "You must be Lonna?" Lonna gave her a respectful bow in greeting. Still Suga had not been able to stop staring at his mother. "Nice to meet you. I wanted to meet Yoongi's girlfriend." She looked back in Suga's direction. "I know you two have been through a lot."

Wanting to avoid an even more awkward atmosphere, Jungkook stuck his watch out to his mother. "Mom, our reservation." He reminded her by taping on the glass.

She thanked him kindly. "I reserved a table in the restaurant upstairs." She told Lonna and Suga. "Let's go up." Despite the feeling of wanting to run away, Suga gripped Lonna's hand in his tightly and moved to follow.

Mr. Min's POV

Mr. Min impatiently paced his living room floor endlessly. Pamela could see the worry written on his face as her head followed his steps. He had been acting agitated and nervous since Yoongi had told him he had decided to see his mother, but she didn't understand why it was getting to him so badly. She worried he would make himself sick if he didn't calm down.

She got up from the couch and grabbed his arms gently to stop him. "Darling. Relax. The kids only left a few minutes ago." She leaned her head on his shoulder and hugged him.

"Pamela." He said making Pamela pull away to look at him.

"Hmm?"

"Do children, no matter their age, want their mothers?" He asked.

Pamela knew he wasn't going to like her answer, but she still nodded her head yes. Mr. Min frowned. "That means, that if Yoongi chooses her. I can't object." He said sadly.

Pamela didn't understand what he meant but she hated hearing such anguish in his voice. "You worry too much? What choosing?" She said cutely trying her best to boost his spirit. "Yoongi is only meeting a mother he hasn't seen in a long while, right?" Despite using her best aeygo, Mr. Min ignored her and continued to space out. She gently pinched his nose to bring his attention back to her. "Honey!"

"But she..." Mr. Min was finally ready to let his fiancee in on what his big problem was in all this. "She plans to take Yoongi with her to Italy." Pamela's mouth dropped open in shock.

Suga's POV

Jungkook giggled at Lonna, who had been staring awkwardly at his mother who sat across from her. His laugh had brought Lonna's embarrassing behavior to the woman's attention, but as hard as she tried Lonna couldn't stop "What is it? Do I have something on my face?" Ms. Jeon asked as she used her hand to gently rub at her cheek.

Lonna quickly snapped out of it and shook her head. "No. I was just thinking that you two have the same eyes, and I was kind of lost in my thoughts." Jungkook laughed at her again, but his mother gave her a warm smile.

Ms. Jeon looked beside Lonna to Suga. "Same eyes? You're referring to Yoongi and I?" Lonna simply nodded in answer hoping to avoid saying anymore awkward things. Ms. Jeon chuckled at the girl's temid response. "It's true. Everyone says boys tend to take after their mothers." Suga glared at her from the corner of his eye.

He quickly moved his stare back to his brother as she looked back to his direction. He didn't know why, but after sitting down he felt like he wanted to avoid making eye contact as much as possible. "I almost can't recognize him. Since it has been 10 years." His mother said. To his surprise, she raised her wine glass towards him. "Happy birthday Yoongi." She said sweetly.

Jungkook not wanting his mother to be embarrassed by the silence raised his glass as well. "Happy birthday!" He said happily.

Suga didn't make a move until Lonna brought her glass up as well and then they both tapped them against the other two in a cheers. Jungkook went to get a drink before stopping midway. "Hyung, did Lonna give you the gift?" He asked suddenly.

Lonna immediately choked slightly on the sip of wine she had taken before looking over at Suga. "Not yet." Suga said quietly.

"She bought a very unique bracelet for you." Jungkook continued to spoil the surprise.

Lonna gave him an angry glare. "Jungkook why are you telling him?" She frowned sadly. "I was planning to give it to him as soon as we got home."

Jungkook felt horrible. "I ruined hyung's surprise?" He asked sadly. Lonna huffed in anger in his direction.

Ms. Jeon chuckled slightly before lightly smacking Jungkook in the arm and giving Lonna and Suga an apologetic look. "Jungkook is like this. Clueless. Don't assume he is perceptive. He isn't at all."

Suga could feel himself starting to get slightly angry as he watched Jungkook lightly elbow his mother making her laugh. "Because I'm like mom." Jungkook teased.

She turned to Jungkook and gently poked the tip of his nose. "You're annoying." She said before they both laughed.

Suga bit his lip to keep his emotions under control. "I'll just pretend I didn't hear it."

Like the usual Suga. Lonna thought as she looked over at him. Mr. Min's worried request came to her mind. Suga will be alright. Truth was, her and Suga's father had had the same concerns. She had wondered what reaction he would have when he first saw his mother, but seeing it now, made her realize just how strong he was. She could see that he was capable of handling his deepest emotions. The realization made her feel a bit better.

Lonna looked back to Suga's mother. "Auntie, I heard you're going to be working in Italy."

"After my divorce, I started working in fashion." She said. "I designed and created my own label. It was very hard." She looked over at Jungkook. "In the beginning, when Jungkook was little, I was satisfied just making enough to support us." She smiled brightly at Lonna. "It's been 10 years now. We're finally going international, taking on world markets."

"That means, through hard work, your dream is about to come true." Lonna said happily.

Ms. Jeon however let her smile fade as her gaze moved to Suga. She let out a nervous breath. "I am different now...Yoongi." Suga held the tears that were now becoming harder to hold back as he kept his head turned from her. "Come to Italy with us, okay?"

The private dining room went eerily silent as they all stared at Ms. Jeon in shock at her sudden request and Suga looked into the eyes of his mother for the first time in hours.
