Being Honest
A/N: I know he isn't blonde in the pic, but my god.
The beads of sweat glistened on Suga’s face as he downed the cold beer to try and cool his dry throat. The bar had just closed, and the band was now trying to put away their equipment. RM smiled slightly as he leaned over the table towards Suga. “What now? Want to continue somewhere else?” He asked. The tipsy sound of his voice was very clear in the now quiet bar.
Suga shook his head. “This was enough. There is no point in continuing. I’m leaving.” He said as he gave a small wave and quickly turned away.
Jisoo rushed to jump out of her chair. “Prince.” She called, effectively stopping Suga in his tracks. “At least give us one more devilish smile.” Everyone stared at Suga’s back, wondering if he would grant Jisoo her request.
The request was a ridiculous one to him, but it still caused tears to spill from his eyes. These were his friends, people who had been with him through his hardest times. As much as he wanted to deny it, he would miss them. He gripped his hands into fists, trying to get control over his emotions. The others were already sitting on the edge of their seat in anticipation. Once he had wiped away the tears, he turned in their direction. They all smiled at the familiar crooked smile that graced his lips. Jisoo wasted no time in snapping a picture. After she lowed the camera, Suga left them behind without another word.
The six of them started to cry. RM quickly took Jisoo in his arms and hid her face in his shoulder. Taehyung and Jimin used each other as comfort, but Jhope chose to cry alone. “Suga, why are you leaving us?” RM yelled.
Suga walked with his head looking at his feet. The wall he had put up over the last few days, was starting to come down, and the pain was starting to fill him once more. In his distraction, he didn’t even notice the sobbing Lonna that ran past him.
“Lonna!” Hearing her name, Suga finally snapped out of his thoughts and found Krystal and Jin looking frantic in front of him. “Lonna!” Krystal yelled again.
“Auntie?” Suga yelled, getting Jin’s attention. Krystal and Jin both ran up to him.
“Have you seen Lonna?” Jin asked.
“Why?” Suga asked. His heart beat faster as he noticed the look of fear in their eyes.
“We were eating near here.” Jin started. “When we got distracted. She disappeared.” Suga felt the world around him slow down and his chest tightened in panic. “We’ve had a few drinks.” Suga took off, his mind running a hundred miles an hour, trying to think of where she might be. He ran through the streets, looking down every alley, and side road. His eyes scanned every shop window and curbside. The more time that went by, the worse the thoughts got in his imagination.
The fear he felt instantly lifted as he spotted her, sitting beside a convenience store. He ran over to her and grabbed her by the arm, lifting her on her feet. “Why were you drinking?!” He yelled at her. Now that his worry was gone, the only thing that remained was his anger. Lonna’s eyes looked back at him with a mix of emotions. “I’ll take you home.” Suga said.
Lonna screamed in anger as she ripped her arm out of Suga’s hand. “I can go by myself.” She said.
Suga rolled his eyes. “Is there a point to making yourself a mess like this?”
“Huh?” Lonna asked as she looked up at him again.
“Are you acting like this, because we are separating?” Suga asked with a slightly sarcastic tone.
“It’s none of your business!” Lonna screamed. Suga’s last words to her, by the river popped into her head. “I’ll go by myself.” She said starting to walk away, but she still couldn’t hide the tears that were already wetting her cheeks.
Suga angrily bit his lip. “Didn’t I say, it was dangerous to walk home alone?” Lonna stopped. “If you don’t want me to worry, then shape up!”
The anger boiled in Lonna’s chest as she turned around. “What do you mean?!” Her yelling had brought Krystal and Jin to them. They both thought it best to just watch from the tension they saw. “Abandoning me, making me all alone…” Lonna’s voice cracked as she spoke. “That is your doing!” Suga refused to turn around, because he knew if he did, Lonna would lose her confidence. If he turned to face her, she would never be able to let it all out. “You wanted me to be independent. So, I took all the responsibility. But, do you know, simply accepting this reality has taken up all my energy! I beg you, don’t tell me what to do anymore, okay?!”
“Is it too trying?” Suga asked as he turned around. “If it’s really too painful, we can break up.”
Lonna lost any control she had left. She ran over to Suga and used her purse to hit him in the chest, and he made no moves to stop her. “Don’t make it sound so easy!” She cried out. Once she was done, she threw her purse at his feet and took off running again.
Krystal walked over to Suga. “Lonna’s fear, do you really not know, or are you just playing dumb? Why are you hurting her so deeply?”
“If I’m kind to her…” Suga said. “Then she won’t tell me the truth.” He reached down and grabbed Lonna’s purse and took off after her. Krystal stared after him, feeling stupid as she finally understood.
Lonna leaned her head tiredly against one of the chains that held up the old swing. What I want is…trust, strong and enduring feelings. Lonna came clean in her own thoughts. Even if it’s a lie, I wish what he really wanted to tell me is that this separation is for our future. The sadness took over again as she started to lightly swing herself. Suga was out of breath, as he crouched down next to her and placed her purse in her lap.
Lonna looked up at him, and the look of misery on her face broke his heart. “Here you go.” He said. Lonna didn’t say a word as she cradled the purse in her arms. “Hitting me with your bag means you want us, to continue to be a couple, right?” Lonna’s eyes widened as he spoke. “Because I said we could break up, you got angry, right?”
“What’s the meaning of this?” Lonna asked. “You were testing me?” The hurt in her voice made Suga feel guilty.
“No.” Suga answered. “I was betting. Betting that you would forgive me. The me who is leaving you, and…that you’d…think of me forever.”
His confession made Lonna reach out and slap him hard on the arm. “You’re cruel.”
Suga chuckled. “I know, but I got my answer, didn’t I?” He asked smiling happily at her. “This is a victory for me.”
“You already know my answer, why are you asking me?” Lonna asked. “What about me?” Suga bit his lip. “The answer I wanted, why didn’t you say anything?”
Suga adverted his eyes and looked up at the sky. “I don’t know.”
“How do you not know?” Lonna asked, starting to get angry again. “Have you ever thought about it? If you go to Italy and never come back, what if I fall in love with someone else?” Suga’s jaw tensed as he continued to look away from her. “Didn’t you say you would never ask me to wait for you? Then what about me? If others pursue me, or others like me, should I be with them?” Suga’s head started to turn as if he was searching for something, and his lack of attention got on Lonna’s nerves. “Are you listening?!”
“With all these clouds, it looks like it is going to rain hard tonight.”
Lonna was done. She took her purse and got up from the swing. “Forget it.” She said as she started to walk away.
“If you meet someone else…” Suga screamed at her retreating back. “and want to be with him, then let me love you in vain. It is fine!” Lonna stopped walking. “Because I have a feeling…” Suga finally let the wall down as he stared at her back. The tears rushed down his cheeks. The fear of losing her had become to real for him to handle. “For the rest of my life, I’ll love only you.”
Suga’s heart beat rapidly as Lonna turned to face him finally. “You’ve never said anything like that to me before. That is…” A large smile spread her lips. “the answer I wanted.” Suga spread his arms to her and she ran into them.
He chuckled at how giddy she was as he pulled her close to him. “When I am not here, no drinking, understood?”
Lonna pulled away and looked up at him. “I’m not drunk.” Suga couldn’t handle it any longer as he held her in his arms. He wanted her, and he didn’t care anymore. He quickly picked her up in his arms, making her squeal in surprise. “What are you doing?” Lonna asked.
“We are going somewhere.” He answered vaguely.
“Where is that?” Lonna asked as she wrapped her arms around his neck.
“A motel.” He could see the fear in Lonna’s eyes. “I want to be close to you, but if you don’t want to, we don’t have to.”
Lonna shook her head. “I want to.” Like Suga, she wanted to forget it all, she wanted to be close to him.
“Are you sure?” Suga asked. Part of him hoped she wouldn’t deny him, but he knew he would respect her decision. They both looked up at the large building as he sat Lonna back down on her feet. He looked over at her with a questioning glare. “We can go back.”
Lonna smiled reassuringly up at him, as she held her hand out for him to take. “I am sure. I definitely don’t want to go back.” They laughed as they walked into the lobby and Suga rented a room.
Once he opened the door, Suga whisked Lonna into his arms and used his foot to shut the door behind him. He locked his lips against Lonna’s in a fever of deep kisses. He poured all his emotions into it and Lonna returned them. He made his way to the bed, never breaking away from her. He gently threw her down and leaned over her, kissing her once more before pulling away and looking at her face. Her body was shaking lightly underneath him. He secretly concealed that he matched her nervousness. This wasn’t his first time, but it would be the first time with someone he felt for, that he loved.
He slowly moved his head toward her again, never taking his eyes off her. Lonna’s eyes slowly fluttered closed as he grew closer, and Suga could feel his heart beats start to pound in his chest. Just as their lips were about to touch, Lonna quickly turned her head. “Suga…” She whispered. “I think…maybe…” Her voice came out shaky and it made Suga’s heart sink.
He couldn’t hide that he was slightly disappointed. “You said you didn’t want to go back.”
“I did say that.” Lonna said in a small voice. “But, I’m scared of what others will say.”
“Then…say you were under the influence of alcohol.” Suga said.
“I am obviously very clear-headed.” Lonna argued back.
Suga let out a sigh. “What do you want? Don’t think of what others will say, do you want to or do you not?” Lonna bit her lip and didn’t answer. Suga gently placed a kiss on the side of Lonna’s neck, making her shiver. “I want to be with you forever, no matter what anyone says about it. Does that help?”
Lonna frowned as she looked at him. “You must think I am a very unreasonable person.” She whined cutely, setting a fire in Suga’s stomach.
“Yes…” Suga said as he cupped her face in his hands. “very unreasonable.” He placed a small peck on Lonna’s forehead and smiled. “But…you’re unreasonably cute.” Lonna chuckled at his corny line. “So…” Lonna could feel her body heat up with the way he stared at her. He quickly kissed her again, and this time, Lonna let herself go. She let his kiss melt away all the worries she held. She only cared about him, and how he made her feel as the night went on.
The Next Morning
Lonna’s fingers moved lazily over the top of the annoying alarm clock, as she clicked every button in hopes of finding the one to turn it off. Once she had found it, she glanced at the time. It was seven in the morning and unfortunately her growling stomach made it hard to go back to sleep. She looked behind her at Suga’s sleeping face and smiled gently. She slowly lifted herself up into a sitting position, trying not to jostle the bed and wake Suga up. She searched the floor for where her clothes could have landed last night. Finding them, she silently groaned at how far away they were. She tried her best to stretch as far as she could, but only the tips of her fingernails grazed her shirt.
“What are you doing?” Suga’s deep tired voice startled her, she quickly turned to face him, but because of her earlier position, she fell from the bed, taking the sheet she used to cover herself, with her. She yelped in pain as her back hit the carpeted floor below. Being woken up, Suga leaned up and moved the untamed blonde hair out of his face. His tired almond eyes looked over the bed at Lonna in amusement as she lifted up.
Lonna’s face went red with embarrassment as she looked at Suga clad in just his boxers on the bed. She tried to smile at him. “Morning.” Suga’s eyes instantly looked at her as they did last night, full of lust and want, and the red tint flared more, as Lonna wrapped herself with the sheet better and quickly turned from his view. “Don’t look at me like that!” She whined. “Look away.”
“Why?” Suga asked with a hint of tease in his voice.
“No reason.” Lonna said as she threw a corner of the sheet over her shoulder. Suga smiled devilishly as he leaned over the side of the bed and looked at the side of her face. Feeling his eyes on her, Lonna turned in his direction, before quickly turning away again, whining in annoyance. “Hey! Look away, I want to get dressed.” She pouted.
Suga shook his head as he tried to wipe the smile from his face and look serious. “Okay, I will close my eyes.” Lonna looked over at him, as he shut them like he said he would.
“No peeking.” She said, and Suga shook his head in agreement. Lonna kept her eyes on him as she leaned forward and tried to feel for any piece of clothing.
With him not opening his eyes, and her not feeling anything, Lonna took her eyes away finally and leaned to grab her shirt. “You know…” Suga’s voice made her jump to cover herself back up and lean back against the bed once more, sighing. “Last night, I saw everything.” He smiled brightly as he still held his eyes closed. “No sense in covering up now.” He teased. He finally opened his eyes and looked over at her. “Why is it? My noona didn’t inherit her mother’s good body?”
Feeling a bit insecure, Lonna moved the sheet a bit to look over herself. A soft tuft of hair itched the side of her face, making her turn in it’s direction. She squealed in embarrassment when she saw Suga looking lustfully under the sheet as well. She quickly shoved him away and recovered herself. “Last night, how many times did we do it?” Suga’s hot breath tickled her ear. “Do you remember?”
A shiver went down her spine at the raspy whisper, but she quickly tried to change the subject. “Nobody talks about this stuff.” She whined.
Suga chuckled at her cute reaction. “And, yesterday you kept saying…” He moved his mouth to her ear once more and nipped at it with his teeth. Her soft intake of breath made him heat up. “I love you Suga.” He whispered in her ear.
“I wasn’t!” Lonna denied cutely. “I wasn’t talking.” She bit her lip as her cheeks turned rosy. “Though I did think it.” Suga laughed. Lonna looked over at him. “Why are you laughing?”
Without answering, Suga climbed off the bed and grabbed Lonna’s shirt in his hands, as he crouched in front of her. “I don’t think you want to get dressed at all.” He said before tossing her shirt to another part of the room.
“You animal!” Lonna yelled. “Give back my…” Before she could finish her sentence, Suga placed his forehead against her, and leaned his bare chest as close to her as he could get. Lonna bit her lip to keep herself from gasping.
“Correct. I admit it.” Suga said. Lonna’s eyes shut as he placed a soft peck on her forehead, just like last night. Then his lips touched again on her cheek, making her gasp lightly. Unable to hold himself back any longer, Suga kissed her. The kiss was slow and gentle, and Lonna couldn’t deny he was right, she wasn’t ready to leave just yet.
