Death at my door
A knock sounded on my door, startling me. I muted the show that I was watching and placed the popcorn that I was on the coffee table before getting up and walking to the door. I unlocked it and opened the door but no one was there.
I thought it was the neighbor kids playing ding dong ditch, but it was 2 in the morning.
I closed the door and locked it again before walking back towards the living room. I had taken just two steps when the doorbell rang again. I quickly unlocked the door and opened it, thinking I’d catch them before they ran away but once again, no one was there. An unsettling feeling washed over me. When I went to close the door, a shadow caught my eye and it was… moving.
Far across the street, deep in the shadows, a silhouette stood. I couldn’t make out the details but it was definitely a man. He was tall and scary thin. I could faintly see a hat on his head that cast a shadow over his face. The shadow walked forward, under the streetlight. I couldn’t see his face but I could see the suit he was wearing. He wore a black and white suit, but the jacket looked far too big on him. His head was down, looking at his feet until he looked up with a sickening grin plastered on his face. He pulled something out of the jacket pocket, it I couldn’t see what it was. That was until he held it up to his mouth and ran his tongue along the shiny metal.
My eyes widened in horror when I realized it was a knife and that he was looking directly at me.
I quickly shut the door and locked it before backing away from it quickly. I ran into the living room where my phone was still laying on the couch. I grabbed it quickly and ran into the bathroom, locking myself inside.
With shaking hands, I dialed 9-1-1.
“9-1-1 what’s your emergency?” A woman answered calmly.
With a ragged voice I spoke lowly, “there is a man that’s breaking into my house and he has a knife!”
There was complete silence. The line had gone dead.
“Hello?” I asked, panicked. To my horror, I heard the beeping of the phone that meant I had no service.
Suddenly I heard the doorknob of the bathroom door rattling. I quickly scrambled behind the door, grabbing the curling iron that was still plugged in. With it in my hand, I had it ready to swing. The door knob suddenly unlocked and slowly opened.
Just as I saw the person walk in, I swung my weapon, hitting them directly in their face. I heard the sizzling of their skin over their screams. In shock and terror, I let go of it when they fell to their knees. Their soft crying faded into loud evil laughter.
They slowly rose to their feet until they towered over me by a few feet. My mouth dropped in terror as I watched this man turn into a horrid creature.
His jaw cracked as it opened far further than humanly possible. His teeth sharpened into what looked like shark teeth. His eyes turned a deep blood red before blood started running from his eyes. His wide mouth started to salivate as he stared at me. It sniffed loudly and roared a blood curdling roar that made me scream.
The very last thing I saw was the mouth of the creature as it devoured and ripped apart my body.
