Part 32

Sean waited for Markus and Connor to get into position. Once they gave him a nod, Sean moved his hand from her jaw to her wrist. Taking her arm, he tilted it and linked up with her system manually. Bringing her online took some time. He had to check her files to make sure that everything had downloaded in from her microchips. He unlocked her system to allow her as much emotional freedom as the other Deviants. Then when everything appeared to be good, he brought her new body online. The android jerked on the table with a soft gasp, her eyes opening. Connor eyes immediately rose from her to meet Sean's, asking with sudden worry. "She's not like the other androids. Why?" Sean looked back at him, saying with confidence. "She has always been different. This way... They won't bother her. She'll be free to live and explore." Connor gave him a concerned look. Mark was the one to move closer and voice what they were all thinking. "And if she uses this new body to start a bigger war?"

Sean turned gentle eyes on Mark, saying warmly. "Everything in life comes with a risk. You're the one who showed me that life shouldn't be wasted. We should all have a chance to be who we want to be. Humans made us in their image. And like you, we want to mean something. If she defects, I will take full responsibility for her. But Mark... Can you empathize with her? She's only ever wanted what she never had. She helped make us but was never able to see the world as we do." Mark shuffled his feet, answering honestly. "I do feel for her. But I don't want people to look back on this moment as the day we should have killed her." Sean released the android, moving closer to Mark as he reassured him. "I understand. However, if there is even a one percent chance that I can try and save her... I will try. I refuse to give up on her. She's not a bad person... She's just... afraid of being alone and forgotten." Mark lifted his chin, telling him seriously. "I trust your judgement, Sean."

The android jerked upright with a yelp, kicking both Connor and Markus to the floor. Flipping over on the desk, she panted heavily as her long chestnut hair fell over her face. Mark removed his gun out of instinct to aim at her, but Sean grabbed it to lower it. Connor rolled up to his feet, raising his fists. While Markus flipped up onto his feet to defend the door. She looked between both of them with wide eyes. Richard moved up by Mark, but Sean gestured him to stay back without looking at him. Sitting back on her knees, she stared blankly at the desk beneath her hands. Stroking the desk, she chuckled as tears fell from her green LED eyes. Sean smirked to himself, watching her raise a hand as she looked at him with gleaming eyes. Sean stepped forward, extending a hand out to her. Her hand was hesitant, but she reached for it. She closed her eyes, wincing just before her fingers slid over his. Sean took her hand, watching her gasp and open her eyes in disbelief. Staring at him with teary eyes, she stammered out breathlessly. "I... I can feel you?"

Sean nodded to her with a warm smile. The joy in her face was unlike anything he had ever seen. In her excitement, she yanked him closer to press his hand to her cheek. More tears rolled down her cheeks as she began to cry softly. Connor lowered his hands, clearing his throat awkwardly. Markus noticed Connor's subtle eye gesture. They hadn't had time to dress she. They had been in a rush. The sheet had been the best... but it had fallen off her. Although, she barely noticed... the people outside the lab were taking notice. Markus quickly shrugged off his coat, inching closer to offer it as he said without looking at her. "Hey...? Here. You should put this on." She released Sean to look over the coat, reaching out just as slowly to touch it. Everything she would touch, and smell would be a new experience to her. Accepting it, she struggled to figure out how to put it on. Sean was going to help, but Markus beat him to it. Sean smirked watching Markus brush her bangs back, telling her sweetly. "Don't worry. You'll get the hang of it."

Connor flashed Sean a grin, before it faded to ask curiously. "Where is Hank and Gavin?" Prying her eyes away from Markus, she answered truthfully. "A holding cell on the second floor. I was going to talk to them later..." She pointed to the computer, openly informing him. "The computer. You should be able to see them and get the passcode to let them out." Connor dashed to a small computer monitor on the wall, accessing the information. It only took him a few seconds to get the code, before gesturing to Richard as he jogged out. "Come on. Let's go get them." Richard nodded, chasing after Connor. Markus helped her climb down from the desk, curiously asking her. "This might seem a bit weird to ask... but what do we call you now?" She stared at him slightly confused, until Markus shrugged out nicely. "It's a new you... So, it only makes since that you can chose to be anyone you want to be." She stood very still, biting her lip as she sank deep into thought. After a minute though, she looked up into Markus's eyes and happily told him. "My name is Cortana."

Markus offered her his hand, smiling as he told her. "Hi, Cortana. My name is Markus." Cortana giggled, taking his hand to shake it. Mark rushed to the wall, distractedly relaying to Sean. "Alright. Let's fake a death." Mark grabbed a fire alert, yanking it down to cause the alerts to blare. Sprinklers turned on as the staff, yelped and rushed for the exits. Mark fired a few shots at the glass windows, until they shattered. Cortana yelped, pulling from Markus to rush to a computer monitor on the wall. She removed a few chips, regaling to the others. "Wait! The research data!" She turned around and Sean made sure that he was there. Cortana showed him the discs with a nervous expression. Glancing at them he took all of them except the medical chip. Cortana didn't fight him, she simply nodded. Holding the remaining chip to her chest, she rushed to Markus who escorted her out. Sean crushed the chips in his hand, then asked Mark. "Alright. How do you want to do this?"

Mark glanced at the computers in the wall, stating out. "We've got to fry them. Make sure they can't trace anything to what we did." Sean moved around to the computers, erasing every trace of information and security camera information. Mark then set to work, beating the shit out of them with Sean's added help. Once they had been dealt with to the best of their ability, they exited the building with the rest of the staff. Drenched in water, Mark stood watching as the electrical fire he had set was taking to the upper floors. All the drones were down and the remaining RK900s were just standing around without orders. Taking his CB off his shoulder, Mark called it in to anyone that might still be listening at the station or through police radios. Sean turned to see Connor hug Hank after Hank showed him a charred quarter. They both seemed to get a good laugh out of it. Farther from them, Richard was touching a bleeding head wound on Gavin. Gavin brushed his hand off him, then stepped in to press his shoulder against him casually. It was subtle, but Richard wrapped his arms around Gavin's shoulder to hold him.

The last person Sean saw was Markus. Markus had his arms protectively around Cortana, eyeing the staff closely to see if any noticed her. Most of the staff was too spooked to notice much of anything. Sean even listened in too, but they all recalled something different. Mostly the gunshots and power going down. Nothing about what they had done. They had been too focused on their work. Sean licked his lips, glancing up at CyberLife tower. He could feel the change in the air. Mark moved closer to him, taking his hand as he chuckled out. "Hey, Sean? How do you feel about a change of scenery? Say... a beach?" Sean raised an eyebrow, replying curiously. "I don't understand." Mark smirked, warmly purring out. "When the dust settles. I'm thinking about moving to the west coast. Become a cop there. Vacation on the beach. Will you come with me?" Sean squeezed his hand gently, answering with a warm grin. "I would love that."

Word quickly spread around Detroit that CyberLife had gone down and Amanda with it. As death tolls were totaled and the future of CyberLife was uncertain. Most called for a deactivation of androids. However, an unknown employee took over CyberLife thanks to the surfacing of an adjusted will. With the company, Cortana demolished and rebuilt the company. With it, she hired on the androids and stuck to her word. Advancing medical science for the betterment of both human and Android. In time, the scars between human and Android would mend. For now, she hired both the RK900s and Deviant androids willing to help care for ailing and older humans. Fulling needs as they were needed with Markus at her side. Within a year, CyberLife was back on its feet and the city of Detroit was almost back to normal. Protests were still held, and freedoms were still brought into question... but progress would be slow to fix the pain caused. Gavin was promoted to Captain and with Richard's help, they turned Detroit's Police Department into the best department in the state. Allowing Officer Androids to work alongside human officers to keep the peace.

Hank retired from the force with honors. Deciding to take Connor on an RV road trip along with Sumo to see thesights. Something he had always wantedto do. Mark put in for a transfer to the California Police Department. Enjoying the hot whether more. Especially, on his days off. Mark in a beach chair, drinking an ice-cold soda from his cooler on the sandy beach. It was a bright warm sunny day and he was enjoying his day off. Glancing farther down the beach, he smiled. Sean was splashing through the water with his golden retriever, Chica, chasing after him. Closing his eyes, he went back to relaxing. He couldn't imagine his life getting any better than this... Until Sean leaned over him to kiss him so passionately. He had never felt more at home. Wrapping his arms around Sean's waist, he continued to kiss him and never wanted to stop. The End.
