Part 28

Sean leaned against the side of a brick wall to a corner side coffee shop. Keeping his hood pulled far over his face, he discreetly observed the street. It was almost noon and the streets were fully of RK900s. Some were escorting humans to work or school. While others were patrolling the streets with swat gear. An RK900 walked up to him, addressing him firmly. "Citizen. Where is your escort? You should be somewhere. Give me your name." Sean didn't answer, he stayed casual and simply kept his features hidden. He acted like the cold was bothering him. The RK900 went to put a hand on his shoulder, but it was stopped by Richard. Richard straightened himself up, acknowledging the RK900 stiffly. "Is there a problem officer?" Richard tapped Sean's shoulder, handing him a cup of coffee, while adding aloud. "My apologizes. I told him to wait here as I retrieved his morning nourishment." The RK900 faced Richard, droning out suspiciously. "You left your human out in the cold? What's his name? Why won't he answer?"

Richard respectfully responded in a casual tone. "I left him here to allow him his smoking habit. And while he is mute and can not answer you. I have the information you require. Shall I send you the information?" The RK900 nodded and Richard's LED turned yellow as he transferred the false data to him that they had pieced together from people in the coffee shop. Sean lifted one of Gavin's cigarettes to his lips to take a light drag from it. The RK900 processed the data, then gave them a bow and told them warmly. "Thank you for your cooperation. Please make haste to the bus stop. It will be arriving shortly." As the RK900 went on his way, Sean discreetly told Richard through their internal com-link. "The others?" Richard reached out to grab his arm, pulling him into a walk toward the bus stop. While walking, Richard told him normally. "They are waiting for us." Sean snuck a glance at the security drones hovering over the streets. The drones were scanning random people that looked like they might be human rebels or carrying weapons.

One human got scanned without his knowledge, causing RK900s to corner him. They grabbed him and slammed him to the ground to disarm him. The man screamed that he had permits. However, the one RK900 that wasn't holding him down, dismantled the gun and told him seriously. "All weapons are restricted. All permits void. We are your safety now. You have no need for such things." The human struggled screaming out to the two holding him. "This is bullshit! Let me go! I didn't do anything!" The RK900s yanked him off the pavement as a cop car approached. The door slid open and the RK900s shoved the man inside. The door quickly shut, before the car zipped off out of sight. They were getting crime out of sight to keep others from interfering or panicking. All RK900s were either in officer uniforms or in police swat gear. They approached the bus stop, where Richard pointed to a bench and then sidestepped into a charging station for the awaiting androids. Sean moved to the bench, dropping down beside another person already sitting there.

Sean leaned forward to rest his elbows on his knees and took another puff of the cigarette. He hated these things, but it helped him appear human to the scanning drones. Beside him, the man was rolling a quarter across his fingers. They didn't look at each other, but he heard Connor tell him in a soft casual voice. "Got anymore of those?" Sean nodded, removing the box from his sweater and flicking open the lid. Connor stopped rolling his quarter, putting it in his pocket before taking one cigarette. What no one noticed was that as Connor put the quarter in his back jean pocket, he removed a small bus ticket. Holding the cigarette out, he asked him curiously. "Got a light?" Sean put away the cigarette box with the ticket that Connor slipped in unnoticed. Shifting a bit, he removed the lighter and leaned closer to block the wind as he flicked it on. Connor leaned in too, puffing the cigarette as he whispered very softly. "Get ready. They're coming." Sean snapped his lighter shut, his eyes rising to see that a drone had scanned his face.

The light turned red and Sean coolly told Connor. "Let's do it." Sean and Connor bolted upright at the same time, standing back to back. RK900s began to approach them, until a bunch of humans began to gasp and scream. There came an explosion at the peer where Jericho 2 was across town. All they could see was the smoke cloud over the buildings. The drones in the area fled to investigate the peer. Sean smirked as the RK900s resumed rushing him and Connor. Richard stepped out behind the closest RK900 and snapped its neck, before whirling around to attack the ones from the charging station. Connor kicked the bench upright, hefting it up to throw it into the three that came for him. Sean ducked the first RK900 that swung at him, reaching up to grab his arm and quickly rising to flip him to the ground. Sean then turned to the second RK900. While Connor kicked the downed RK900 to snap its snap joint. The second RK900 rushed him, but Sean grabbed Connor's shoulder for support and kicked the RK900 back across the pavement.

Connor disarmed one of the swat members, tossing the shield to Sean. Sean snatched the shield covering Connor as the RK900 swat teams started to open fire on them. Connor headshoted the RK900s in front of him, then shot out the street cameras. Richard twisted an RK900 in front of him to take the incoming bullets. Humans screamed and escorting RK900s tried to rush them from the street, when smoke bombs started to go off. From a nearby roof, a foghorn blared. The RK900s looked up to see Markus. Markus raised a fist into the air, shouting out into the silence. "FREEDOM!" Sean saw the Deviants emerging from the smoke and charging after the RK900s. The Deviants began to attack the RK900s, allowing the humans to flee. Sean watched a Deviant child race over to help Richard by running between the RK900's legs and clipping the back of its knees. The RK900 fell back across the ground, allowing Richard to rip the heart from it. Sean stayed by Connor as he unloaded the gun, then used it to knock an RK900 off its feet before it could snatch a Deviant child.

Everything was going to plan so far. They couldn't get to CyberLife with all the cameras and extra security. They needed a distraction. Something to keep Amanda's eyes elsewhere. Markus had split off to free the Deviants from Jericho 2 with his followers. Connor had changed and went to buy bus and subway tickets. Leaving Richard and Sean to draw the attention of Amanda in a subtle way. With her watching him to see what he'd do; she wasn't focusing on Markus and Connor. Through the smoke, a bus drove up to the stop right on schedule. Sean popped open the cigarette box to remove the ticket and quickly climbed inside. After scanning his ticket, he tossed the lighter to Richard. Richard removed the ticket off the side, scanning it too as he stepped inside. Connor followed in behind them, scanning his own ticket, then high fived Markus as he passed him on the bus. Markus pointed to the blacked-out cameras, before pressing a finger to his lips. Sean nodded, relaxing in the seat.

He could only hope this would help them get to the subway without being detected. Only humans bought tickets and the bus would headcount the weight of the seats. This would work. Markus tossed a bag back to Richard, gesturing to it. Richard began to strip quickly, while Connor clicked a recorder to play a tap of human voices sharing a casual conversation for the audio of the bus. Sean glanced back to see Richard change into a nice black suit. He found it odd that Richard was wearing a necklace with a Police Prayer tag. He only knew that because Mark had one similar to it. Had Gavin given it to him? Richard removed a black fedora hat from the bag and tilted it down over his eyes enough to hide his features. Then tapped his shoulder to get his cigarettes back. Sean happily gave them back and Richard quickly lit one up. Connor smirked to himself, changing his sunglasses, hat, and jacket. Richard handed the bag to Sean, letting him pull out a grey flat cap and a set of headphones. Draping the headphones around his neck, he hid his yellow hair under the cap and changed his hoodie.

Stuffing his other clothes and stuff into the bag, he zipped it up and set it at his feet as his luggage. Connor adjusted his grey leather jacket over his white t-shirt, then adjusted the Detroit Lions NFL hat better. Sean slipped on Connor's discarded sunglasses and took a deep breath to reset himself into a calmer state of mind. Lifting his headphones, he accepted the subway ticket from Connor and got ready to get up. When the bus came to stop, they made their way out and over to the Subway platform. People were rushing all around them to catch trains with RK900s. Or they were watching the news that was broadcasting the riot and peer explosion. Quickly making their way up the steps, they slipped into the loading train cars. An RK900 started to look at Markus with a weird look, until Sean quickly wrapped an arm around his neck and kissed his cheek. The RK900 quickly turned away as part of its program to avoid being creepy. Public affection was usually something that steered prying eyes away from observations. Leaning against Markus, he let his eyes explore over his shoulder.

The RK900s farther inside started to ask for tickets. Which caused Sean to turn into Markus's chest to hug him. The RK900 lowered his eyes to only look at the ticket. After reading it, he handed it back to Markus and Markus playfully hefted Sean onward. They slipped into a booth seat, waiting for Connor and Richard to join them. Leaning back against the window, Sean draped his legs over Markus's. While waiting for the train to load, Markus stroked Sean's leg, asking him curiously. "I don't really want to ask... but I'm curious. Did you... Enjoy it with him?" Sean shifted uncomfortably, answering under his breath. "Why do you wanna know?" Markus shrugged a little, answering a bit grimly. "North and I never... I mean, we... She was against it because of what she went through... Said it was a vile act." Sean rubbed his hand over his collarbone absently, honestly saying. "Well, I personally... I didn't think it was that bad. It's just... very personal." Markus raised an eyebrow, asking very softly. "In what way?"

Sean giggled with embarrassment, tracing his fingers over the back of the seat as he said with heated cheeks. "It's hard to explain... We have the same parts... but he knows things about me that I didn't know. I liked it, but at the same time I didn't know what to do with him. I had all this knowledge and yet... he only liked some things." Markus shifted a little to face him, asking a little softer. "Would you do it again with him?" Sean bit his lower lip, answering in a low voice. "I... I would. I'm rather fond of him." Connor slipped into the seat across from him with Richard. Although, Markus didn't change the subject. Instead, he glanced around and asked curiously. "One more thing... Did it...?" Markus's eyes lowered to his crotch very briefly. Sean shifted to cross his legs over Markus's lap. Connor's eyes widened as his looked between both of them. Leaving Richard to openly say perplexed. "Did it what?" Connor chuckled, leaning against the window to watch him with smug eyes.

Sean rolled his eyes at him but answered Markus with heated cheeks. "Yes. It kind of comes out once the program runs. Has like a... hatch." Markus blinked in shock. Connor chuckled, glancing out the window to hide his own pink tinted cheeks. Richard glanced between all of them, asking dryly. "I don't get it. What did I miss?" Connor looked to Richard, before carefully pulling out the necklace and asking nicely. "Did he give this to you for... services well rendered?" Richard snatched the necklace off Connor's fingers, stating out bluntly without thinking. "No. He was afraid..." Richard stopped talking, looking down at the necklace like he let slip something personal. Markus looked to Richard, shrugging as he said. "Scared? Why?" Richard shook his head with a grim expression. Connor and Markus stiffened with concern, until Sean told them discreetly. "He was beaten as a kid for showing affection toward men. Maybe that still lingers in his memory. You'll have to take things really slow with him."

Richard looked up at him with fragile eyes, whispering out a little shakily. "Are you sure? He acts so different when we're alone..." Sean nodded, leaning forward to offer him his hand. Richard took his hand and Sean transferred the data he knew on the matter. As the data transferred, Sean squeezed his hand, telling him confidently. "Trust me. Just be patient with him. He'll come around." Richard nodded, tucking the necklace back under his shirt. The subway train jerked forward, starting off across the track. They were almost there. To Be Continued...
