Part 10

Hank closed the door behind him, slipping his phone back into his pocket. Hank's eyes were immediately drawn to Richard and Gavin, causing Richard to stand up straight away from Gavin. Gavin on the other hand, refused to look in Hank's direction. Sean took note that Gavin's heartrate was beating faster than normal. Gavin's cheeks were flushed a bright pink and he kept clenching his jaw. Hank looked them both over before, uttering out only slightly curious. "What's up with you two? Did I miss something?" Richard crumpled the remains of the cigarette in his hand, before moving his arms to rest them at his lower back. Richard appeared calm and unfazed by the question, simply looking at Hank for possible instructions. Hank shook his head dismissively, walking into the kitchen to stand by Connor as he told everyone. "Gavin was telling the truth. Captain Fowler said the orders are coming in from higher up. Which doesn't leave us with very much of anything. What have you found?"

Connor looked up from the papers spread out over the table to answer softly. "Not much. It just states what Gavin has already told us. They are looking to house Deviants and keep them safe. While at the same time offering these RK900s as home stationed officers." Mark leaned forward on his legs, adding out lightly. "Is it possible that they are just doing this to help people? It doesn't sound all that bad." Gavin huffed, glancing over his shoulder to sneer back at Mark. "What's bad is that we'll be out of a job! These Dick's can do three times the work we ever could. Our whole department is about to become obsolete." Hank pulled out a kitchen chair and slammed it down a bit harshly in front of him. Nestling himself down into the chair, he asked Gavin with an emotionless expression. "Well, Gavin... How about finishing your job? Convince me to get an RK900. Tell me about him." Gavin snorted, rolling his eyes as he muttered out. "Ask the metal dick yourself. I'm not in the mood."

Hank narrowed his eyes on Gavin, darkly stating out. "I wanna hear it from you. What are you telling these people?" Gavin leaned forward as far as he could, locking cold eyes with Hank, upon answering just as darkly. "I think you've forgotten... I don't like you. So, you want answers? Fuck off and find them! Now uncuff me!" Hank glanced over at Richard with expect eyes. Richard stood as still as a statue, but his eyes were focused on Hank. Connor moved up to Richard's side, diverting his attention from Hank. Connor tilted his head slightly, asking curiously. "Can you inform us on your design description?" Richard nodded, politely replying. "Certainly. My primary function is to solve cases in a timely manner. I'm similar to your prototype model. I adapt to a single partner in order to learn from their human experiences and traits. Allowing me to compare them to my own methods for interrogations. I can examine a crime scene using DNA analysis and fingerprints. While bringing up the Police data base internally. Which allows me to compare information on the spot without having to return to the station."

Hank raised an eyebrow, muttering out to himself. "Jesus Christ. They made a walking talking Police Station..." Richard lifted his chin proudly, continuing to list off casually. "I'm also fully capable in all forms of military combat. Both armed and unarmed. I have a build in lie detector, and I have a similar function to that devise that allows me to detect a Deviant. I'm built stronger and faster than your model. My body is even made with reinforced coating that acts like a bullet proof vest. I am Richard. The Officer designed by CyberLife to Serve and Protect. Would you like to know more?" Hank rose from his chair to face Richard as he casually uttered out. "Maybe I'm biased... but I like Connor's catch phrase more." Connor almost blushed as he bowed his head with a warm smile. Sean saw Hank suddenly remove his gun and bolted to his feet. He didn't act fast enough though, because before he could move, Hank told Richard bluntly. "Speaking of combat..." Hank flipped his gun in his hand to grab the barrel and stuck Richard across the face with the handle hard enough to stagger him back.

Hank then flipped out the revolver's barrel and began reloading the gun with bullets as he heatedly scolded Richard. "That was for Sumo." Richard pulled his hand away from his face to see the blue blood staining his fingers. Richard's cheek and nose were leaking Thirium now. Richard blinked a little confused, upon asking uneasily. "What is a Sumo?" Connor leaned slightly closer to Richard to inform him lightly. "Sumo is Hank's Saint Bernard. He's a dog." Richard's eyes narrowed in more confusion, asking curiously. "What's a dog?" Hank pointed toward Sumo in his bed, snapping out dryly. "He is. Just be thankful you only bruised him." Sean watched Richard's LED turn yellow as he stared at Sumo. Sean moved closer to him, asking calmly. "Do you remember him?" Richard shook his head, his LED turning red as he mumbled out. "No... I remember the fight... but I don't recall him." Gavin shifted in his chair, retorting a little amused. "Wait a minute. You know all that shit about me. But you can't recall the dog?"

Richard's LED flickered yellow, informing Gavin seriously. "Learning about you was only natural. You're my partner. I'm supposed to know everything about you. My interests are programed to mirror yours. You have no interest in dogs. So, I never officially observed any interactions with them." Gavin rolled his eyes, mumbling out. "Typical. Technology man... Still as glitchy as ever." Richard's LED turned blue as Connor told him nicely with a smile. "I love dogs." Richard returned a smile, telling Connor just as nicely. "I love cats." Mark covered his face as a loud snort left him. All eyes turned to him, causing Mark to clear his throat and chuckle out. "No wonder you don't get along." Gavin's eyes narrowed on Mark, darkly muttering out. "You got something to say to my face, Fishdick?" Mark's expression turned slightly heated as he mockingly asked. "How many pussies do you own, Reed?" Gavin clenched his jaw, then rolled his eyes in defeat as Richard answered casually. "Six." Mark smirked, teasing Gavin darkly. "Guess that makes you King of the pussies?"

Gavin flashed his teeth in a fowl grin, uttering out aggressively. "Oh, you're so fucking lucky that I'm cuffed to this chair or I'd fuck you up, boy!" Hank strolled out between them, raising his hands as he yelled out. "Alright! That's enough! This isn't getting us anywhere. Gavin, where are they taking these Deviants that they get?" Gavin looked away from Hank, muttering out. "Kiss my ass." Sean walked over to Gavin, trying to sound respectful when he said. "Come on, Gavin. Work with us, please? You don't have to like us to help us." Gavin shrugged carelessly, asking bitterly. "What do I get out of all of this?" Sean gestured to the cuffs, answering seriously. "We'll take those off and you can solve this with us." Gavin slumped in the chair, spreading his legs wide as he defensively spat out. "Why would I do that?" To everyone's surprise, Richard answered coolly. "Because you're a good cop. If this case turns out to be something big... You could at the very least keep your job for a while longer. You might even be promoted or honored."

Gavin let out a heavy sigh, relaxing in the chair as he mumbled out. "Fuck it... I'm in." Sean smiled, starting to step closer to uncuff Gavin. However, a sudden 'click' broke the silence and Gavin pulled his arms out to rest on his legs. Gavin fumbled with the cuff still around his wrist, while Connor exclaimed in shock. "You picked your cuffs?" Gavin removed the last cuff, climbing to his feet and tossing the cuffs to Hank. When he glanced at everyone else, Gavin muttered under his breath. "There's a lot you don't know about me." Gavin started to make his way to the door but stopped short to look at Richard. Sean noticed Gavin's fingers flex at his side. Was he going to touch Richard? Gavin raised a hand to point at Richard's face, looking back at Hank as he sneered out dryly. "You're going to fix his face." Hank crossed his arms, retorting nonchalantly. "Fine, but you owe me a new TV." Gavin winced as his eyes drifted to the shattered TV but grumbled out. "Fine. Keep up." Mark rose up from the couch to follow everyone out, while asking Hank discreetly. "Do you trust him?"

Hank let out a heavy sigh but answered confidently. "Gavin is a lot of things... but he's always been a good cop. He's just better with people over androids." Gavin walked up to the curb, swinging his leg over a jet-black motorcycle. Kicking up the kickstand, he told Hank with a smug grin. "Can your rust bucket keep up?" Hank rolled his eyes, gesturing the others to his car. All except Richard. Richard slowly approached Gavin, asking him coyly. "Do you want me to ride with them?" Gavin glanced back at them, then without words, he gestured for Richard to get on with the jerk of his jaw. Richard swung his leg over the back of the cruiser, his hands sliding around Gavin's sides. Gavin inhaled sharply and Sean noticed Gavin's heartrate spike. Over his shoulder though, Gavin growled out. "If anyone asks, you're the damn GPS. And if you touch me..." Richard grinned, answering smugly. "You'll throw me into traffic? Ya. I heard you the first time." Gavin blushed, facing forward as he revived his engine loudly.

Sean slipped into the car after Hank unlocked it. Mark joined him in the backseat, his hand accidentally touching Sean's as he adjusted in the small seat. Mark quickly jerked his hand back, blushing awkwardly. Sean smiled at him, asking him curiously to break up the tension. "Do you like motorcycles?" Mark chuckled sarcastically, answering in a shaky voice. "Do I like being on a fifteen-thousand-pound machine on a road with crazy drivers in vehicles of two-thousand-pounds going over thirty miles per hour? No." Sean snuck a peek at the motorcycle as Gavin pulled out away from the crib. He had to admit... It looked like fun. He wanted to try it someday. As Hank focused on following Gavin, he softly talked to Connor cautiously. "I hate to admit it... but I get the feeling recruiting them was a good idea." Connor nodded, then replied calmly. "Richard could prove very useful and Gavin appears to have a history that could prove useful. So, I agree." Mark leaned back in his seat, adding out loud. "Look Gavin is a wild card. He's unpredictable around androids. It's why the Captain never put him on android cases. I just don't think bringing him into this is the right thing to do."

Sean shifted a little on his seat, simply saying. "He has a bad history with androids. You heard, Richard. His dad did Red Ice. Which my police data says is a powerful drug. Which might have caused his dad to be abusive. Hank claims his boyfriend left him for an android. Which provoked a strong response from him. He's losing his job to androids. I can't help thinking that this is the very reason this war could be starting." Mark raised an eyebrow, saying coolly. "Explain." Sean looked Mark in the eyes, informing him neutrally. "People like Gavin are angry at androids. Yet, this world is forcing people like Gavin to deal with androids or be left behind. Instead of always trying to force ideas about what androids want and what they can do without humans... Maybe people like Gavin just need to work WITH androids." Connor shifted in his own seat, intervening nicely. "You're suggesting a partnership? But we already have something like that..." Sean raised a finger to stop him, answering lightly. "No. Humans right now see androids as tools. Items bought at small fortunes. But what if we formed partnerships. Worked together. Protected each other. We can learn to coexist as friends."

Mark shook his head, telling Sean grimly. "It wouldn't work. Some people are just too stubborn." Sean pointed toward Gavin and Richard, retorting seriously. "Have you ever seen Gavin act like that around an android?" Mark smirked, blushing a little as he mumbled out. "True... but I think you're mixing up a few emotions there." Sean stared at Mark with a blank look, saying perplexed. "I don't understand what you mean..." From the front seat, Hank chuckled to himself, before answering smugly. "What he means is that Gavin has a crush on Richard." Sean turned his eyes to scan Richard, saying still confused. "He looks fine to me...?" Connor chuckled, telling him with a smile. "He didn't mean it literally. Human emotion is complicated. Their emotions can cloud each other. Unlike us. I'd show you... but I can't. Besides, it's rather personal to link that deeply with another android. Or even a human." Sean glanced at Mark still feeling confused. Mark shifted on his seat, closing his legs as he muttered out awkwardly. "Don't look at me. I'm not giving you the sex talk."

Hank raised an eyebrow, looking at Connor briefly as he asked. "That is a good question. Do androids have to have a sex talk or do they just... naturally know?" Connor straightened up in his seat, casually informing him. "Actually, androids have to have the program for an interaction like that. Some androids like those at the Eden Club, have the program already built into their design. While androids like myself would have to download a separate program to preform that action. I know how it works from interacting with the androids at the Eden Club... but I can't physically preform it without the main program." Hank looked a little tense at first, but then seemed to relax as he mumbled out. "Oh. Good to know. I'd hate for you to get some kind of... virus." Sean searched his data from Connor's memory, but he found nothing on what he was talking about. Which only confirmed that the program information wasn't enough for his internal computer to learn about. Shaking his head, he weakly muttered out. "I still don't get it... What are we talking about exactly?"

Hank cleared his throat awkwardly like he was going to try answering, until Connor suddenly piped up. "Wait a minute... I know this place. Why are they bringing the Deviants to the Detroit Shipyard?" To Be Continued...
