"Those who say that promises are made to be broken are either too weak, or too scary.
Because it either means that they believe in endless promises, or they don't believe in promises at all."

Yoonbi

Someone puts a hand over my mouth and pulls me to the side as I attempt to climb the staircase to the senior's floor. "What the--" Jungkook covers my mouth when he turns me to him, smiling at me and nodding in assurance. He enthusiastically lets me go and kneels down to get something from the floor as we stand under the staircase, well hidden.

My heart skips a double beat when I see a cup of coffee in his hand, stretched out for me. I choke out, then cough and cover my mouth feeling way too touched. "This is the sweetest thing!" I hug him carefully, putting the safety of my coffee in the equation.

"Glad." He kisses my neck and rubs my back, "let's go to class and drink then." His hand stays over my shoulder as we walk, when we enter the classroom everyone quiets down for an exact count of three.

Then noise floods the air again, but some people keep staring as I walk with Jungkook to his seat, sitting in Taehyung's seat while he runs late. "I thought you were going to be late, you got here pretty quickly." Jungkook says, letting me sit in his seat so it's easier for me to move when the teacher comes.

"Well, I am impressive." I laugh, feeling a little nervous. He won't suspect anything, I calm myself and sip on my coffee as I look around class, Jimin isn't in his seat but standing with BamBam and RyungNa instead.

It looks like Jimin is in the process of accepting the close friendship of RyungNa and BamBam, my eyes catch Jimin looking at Jungkook and smiling widely at him with a bonus wink.

My mouth falls open at the gesture and I turn to see Jungkook's reaction, he smiles back, showing all pearly white teeth and nodding like a gangster flirting with a girl. What. The. Hełl.

I drink the remnants of my coffee and slam the cup down, breaking the contact between Jikook. Jikook? Did I say Jikook? I used it a couple of times, this is karma! I press my lips together and leave Jungkook, moving back to my seat and wondering where Taehyung is.

That cute pumpkin, we didn't talk much and it's a shame. My eyes light up when I look up from my set books and see him walking in with his long chocolate strands of messy, soft hair. Damñ is he not challuring. Charming and alluring.

Jungkook is too busy frowning at me, while I ignore him and hold back the urge to stick out my tongue at him. Taehyung doesn't notice anything and blankly sits in Jungkook's seat, refuses to get up again and makes himself comfortable.

I smirk, "hey Tae!" I wave at him, missing him for some vague reason, "I missed you." I confess. I notice Jungkook's head snapping to me as he shoots a shocked face, Taehyung turns and smiles with a wink and a victory sign against his face.

I smile back, giving him a heart sign. The teacher comes in and I realize that I was getting back at Jikook. Wow, Taehyung is the best partner ever, he helped me do it in seconds.

"Jackie," I call Jackson as we waltz out of the class room for lunch, "s'up."

"Yoonbi yah," he sings and drops an arm around my shoulder, casually pulling me to his side, he then looks up in search for something as I frown, "why don't you see for yourself." He points a finger at the ceiling and I burst out laughing, pushing him away playfully.

"Go on, I totally can't walk with you after you said that." I push him harder, making him take a nanostep away and laugh, shaking his head and walking with Jr.

"I can't be friends with you if you push people away like that." A deep voice whispers in my ear, making me shiver in excitement as I turn around, meeting the glamorous hair of Taehyung. And well, everything else deadly about him.

"I won't push you away, hopefully." I laugh and hook my arm in his offered one, delighted to walk to lunch with him. Jungkook disappeared, or maybe I didn't notice him yet. However, I notice Jimin missing too while RyungNa walks with the rest of our SMG down the corridor.

"Little bîtches." I huff a whisper, making Taehyung turn to me.

"Beach?"

"Bîtch?"

"Beach?"

"What are we doing." I deadpan.

He chuckles, "where is Jungkook?"

"Go ask Jimin." I retort, sounding snappy, "sorry."

"It's okay, but where did this come from?"

I shrug innocently, making his beautiful laughter fill my air. "Lovely." I say to myself, as Taehyung turns to me with furrowed eyebrows, "go, I'll sit with RyungNa."

I gesture Taehyung to his table and see Jikook sitting there alone, talking and all goofy things. "See you!" Taehyung waves to me, as his group starts filling their table. I walk to mine too.

Minuets later, my lunch is eaten by Jr. and I, I leave him ravenously continue his food after eating half mine to put away my tray. On my way back to the table, I notice Jungkook is not with the guys so my feet take me out of the cafeteria, giving into the instinct to looking for him.

As soon as I'm out of the cafeteria, I see him standing beside the the door all alone. Looking around as if waiting for someone, as soon as he spots me a smug look takes over his face. "I knew you'll come over looking for me."

I scoff, "yeah right." I turn away from him to get back in the cafeteria but he holds my wrist back and chuckles in my shoulder, "you see me now?"

"Always." He replies, "let's go back in class, you're done right?" Jungkook threads our fingers together and pulls me to class, I smile at his warmth and let him take me.

"Thank you for yesterday, it really means a lot." I watch his cheeks blush and feel his hands sweat against mine.

My smile at him drops when I remember that I got no explanation yesterday, so I ask for it now and he separates our hands and turns away, "come on," I hug his back, "I'll help you, Kookie." His tense body breaks off a little in my arms but he doesn't speak.

"It's not as easy as you think it is, I'm afraid of the consequences Yoonbi." You'll look at me differently, you'll hate me. I'm a coward, Yoonbi. My fingers twitch and my arms loosen on him. Before I could pull my arms from around him, his stone grip holds my hands against his torso. "Don't let go, I'll tell you everything."

I gape up at him when he keeps my hands linked together and turns to me, letting me cage him between my stretched arms. I didn't mean to push him, I don't mind, as long as he's here with me now I don't care what he did before. Jungkook is the boy I met, past Jungkook won't count. I promise myself.

"Over a year and a half ago, I was on my way back from a school party, on a Friday." My heart beats pick up as he starts reciting the one tragedy he's so afraid from being uncovered to other than me, he's afraid about me knowing too, but I shrug the fact off as his brown orbs show me what's reeling in his head.

The streets are dark and empty, people are either indoors or still finishing up business where they are. Jungkook walks out of a busy party, feeling tired of this long day and wishing for nothing but a bed to sleep in.

Little did he know, he won't be getting any sleep soon. After this day, Jeon Jungkook will be nothing but a stigma of his race.

His hand digs inside the structure of his pockets, he holds his phone that's on silent mode since school this morning and checks his incomings. His brother only called once, then texted him to turn his phone on and reply, also saying that he'll be out for the night.

Jungkook's steps falter, and he crocks his head, unpleased with his brother's frequent late hangouts. He doesn't even know, is it acceptable to call them late? He only gets back at dawn. He sighs, deciding to repay his brothers constant support and care with covering up for him to their parents. And he goes on, but not for long.

warning : mentions of violence and crime.

In the distance, grunts travel through the dark quiet street, then two surfaces collide against each other, shoes rubing against the grounds and friction of something against a rough wall. The alley walls allowed the sounds to travel so thoroughly, his eyebrows meet and he shoves his phone into his pocket, puffing out his chest and feeling everything but the one most important emotion.

Jungkook was curious, he was careful, he was strong. Jungkook was loyal, he was brave, he was capable. Jungkook was confident, he was intelligent, he was sensible. But Jungkook was stupid all the same, he was impulsive, he was unfocused. Because maybe if he turned to the right intersection that lead to his house, maybe he wouldn't be stuck with darn attributes for the rest of his life.

That decision he makes, which is him following the sounds of danger, makes him change into someone else. Someone useless and wicked, so he becomes the Jungkook who is guilty, who regrets minutes for the next years of his life. A Jungkook who loses trust in himself because he's faced with a chance to prove himself, he thought, but he wastes it, and ruins it.

As soon as he realizes those sounds of danger were the noises of a ruthless fight, his eyes widen from behind a corner as they fall on the heart shattering view.

He watches as a group of men beat a boy in his fresh twenties, they make him bleed and... Jungkook just freezes. He watches and freezes. Time stops before his eyes when a dagger joins the scene. A dagger that disappears into the young man's body when everything plays in front of Jungkook's eyes again.

Everything happens so fast, the man falls to the ground drowning in his blood as his killers stand atop him and shake their heads at the corpse with no remorse. Jungkook's head floods with accusations, his body burns with fear and disbelief. Then horror and shock because he realizes that some of those accusation were pointed at him. Lastly the anger.

He's the coward, he could've saved the guy but he did not. He could've done something, but he did not. It's his fault too. And just like that, the whole Jungkook breaks into unequal pieces that are too hard of a puzzle to put back together.

I blink, feeling the tears roll down one eye. My heart hammers in my chest, my mind fights inside my head and I feel my raged breath failing to come out properly out of my lungs, all three necessary organs seem to forget how to function as Jungkook's eyes slip away from mine.

Did he finish? Is that it?

Thoughts of a useless, guilty boy flood my mind as fast as the lump forms in my throat, I take a step away from Jungkook and fidget with my hands. How? He just left then? What about the people, what have he done!

I start blaming him inside my head, turning away because I can't look at him right now. My Jungkook is stronger than this, this isn't my boy! He should've done something even then!

"Yoonbi..." His voice is faded, far away. He doesn't even sound the same anymore, his big form looks empty, all I see is hollowness. "Don't look at me like that... Please."

My eyes meet his, and his broken pleading voice pulls my promise to life. Jungkook is the boy I met, past Jungkook won't count. I promised myself that but I don't feel so confident anymore.

But he's mine. He's my Jungkook. He told me because I asked him to, he's guilty enough. I shake the tears and feel my mind and heart fighting for a final decision. I feel so disturbed.

Helł breaks loose when all my internal chaos is split by the sound of the creaking classroom door, Jungkook eyes it behind me and his face changes into the worst twist of fear and shock. Then pain and unreadiness, even regret drowns his flawless features but there is a tint of relief shocks me. The pain he shows makes my insides suffocate more and I turn to look at what he's staring so miserably at.

My heart falls to my gut when I see the person standing behind the door, looking at Jungkook with judgement filling his eyes. Everything floods to the front of my mind with so much force.

Jungkook losing it in front of me.
Jungkook scared of anyone knowing.
Jungkook scared of Jimin knowing.

My heart breaks as I eye Jimin at the door, he heard us. Of all people, he had to be behind that door listening to what Jungkook had to uncover to me.

What my Jungkook tried so hard to hide isn't hidden anymore.

Jungkook is the boy I met, past Jungkook won't count. My promise wavers.
