Prologue

───⚬⚬⚬⚬⚬⚬⚬───

Ever since he was born, James Sirius Potter had a way with magic that not even his parents could thoroughly explain. For many young magical children, accidental magic was a part of life but for James? He had more than just 'accidental'. The moment the young boy was able to correctly bring his shoes over to him without having them slip under the bed was the moment that James decided he wanted to know more. Contrary to his namesake, The eldest Potter child was not one to continuously prank others, in fact, James was more interested in learning about how to carry a wand right when he was two than ever learning how to successfully sneak around without getting caught.

At first, the lack of child mischief disturbed his father for what was a child who didn't cause at least some sort of unruly trouble? Despite Ginny being quite accepting of the fact that their son wasn't trying to ask his uncle George how to make vomiting candy, Harry was more concerned than a parent who learned their child had gotten into trouble again. Eventually, after weeks of pushing aside the fact that James was ever going to create any sorts of trouble, Albus Severus Potter was brought into the world and down went the calm and book-loving child.

Every day was a new mess to clean up from having Albus covered in none toxic goo to both boys dripping with milk after using their magic to have a 'cereal fight'. True to his actual personality, James never did stray far from reading and learning more about magic for Hermione couldn't even count how much books she had to lend over to the boy before he began Hogwarts and whenever she questioned why, Harry would begin to laugh to himself, shaking his head as he repeated the day-old phrase that was the go-to answer for such a question.

Truth be told, James was a mixture of not his parents, but his aunt Hermione and his grandmother Lily as well. Having the bravery of his mother, the humorous side of his uncle combined with the intellect to learn of his aunt and grandmother, there was no set personality for James and the boy liked it that way. He was tired of being told that he 'acted' like his late uncle or that he was going to be such a menace at the school like his father and family before him. James wanted to be himself, not some carbon copy of a dead body.

Of course, his family wasn't the only one to notice his intellect. Minerva had to praise the Potters multiple times whenever James answered a question correctly and to her utmost surprise, the eldest child was more of a know it all than his aunt herself.

Of course, James did take a strange liking to Quidditch and Minerva almost suggested that he try out for the team or maybe try and see if he was like his father. To her surprise, the boy had declined almost immediately saying something along the lines of 'I just like being a spectator, not an actual player'. Indeed, James Sirius Potter was surprising people day by day and he couldn't be happier for the fact.

Until Minerva decided that the best way to hone his mind and skills was to help another struggling student in his year or lower. Suddenly tasked with helping a Young boy who went by the name of 'Dmitri', James finds himself acting more like his grandfather whenever the boy is near, full of corny jokes and stupid pick up lines.

He just hopes that Dmitri doesn't turn out to be a carbon copy of his grandmother.
