DB15
Silence befell the room, all men unsure as to what to say next. War grunted dragging a hand down his face. Cupping his lips while eying each one as though they were some spy to be slaughtered.
“How long Victor?” War asked, his interest in just when she started feeling the thirst. Victor twisted his lips while thinking, his answer one that shocked all occupants.
“Hmm A few weeks after you departed. They were few to be found, but the numbers grew.” Nostrils flared with War’s new understanding of just how rapidly Siana was turning. For a human to turn so swiftly was rare, it normally took their body time to adjust to a new feeling. Every cell would be changed, there dna makeup would be that of something else.
“Does this mean what we think it does?” Nathaniel pushed forward, watching War for any signs of emotion. He showed none.
“Perhaps, but I will be working with her from now on.” Aidan moved closer to Nathaniel, his dark brown hair falling over his eyes.
“You’ve never taken on a pup before. Why her?” A few nods were given as they waited to hear the words of a man known more for his disappearing act than one of warmth.
“I have a plan for her, to see it through I would need to aid in the progress.” They didn’t seem to gain much from his words, and frowns weren’t scarce within the room.
Heading toward the door a man’s voice with so much vigor stood out causing War’s feet to heel. Looking over his shoulder showing the deadly pitch of eyes, that same man took a step back.
“You sent our kin’s to the woods, why?” War snorted in disgust at the title given to the poor excuse of what a kin was to them now.
“I sent your Kin” He sneered “To woods in hopes they would learn what it is to sleep on surfaces not so lavish.” With that he pulled the door open slamming it closed, allowing them the privacy to speak behind his back if they so choose. He didn’t miss the bounce Siana gave when he did so, her eyes were so bright now.
Lips covered in a unmoveable stain. Margaret touched War’s arm gathering his attention.
“She’s eaten more than you” She whispered as to not alarm anyone else. His eyes widen for a brief second then fell back to the icy coldness everyone had been accustomed to.
“Good, from now on she is to eat such meals.” Margaret nodded, but he could see the glint of pleasure behind deep green eyes. Grunting it off War headed straight for Siana, she rose as he was a set away.
“Are you satisfied?” She gave a little grin on each corner of lips.
“Yes, thank you” His blood temperature rose to the sincerity in her words. Not many understood what it was to give a true compliment or even to receive one. Manors had been a thing of the past, War hadn’t heard such words in so long he couldn’t even place the era in which he could remember.
She watched as he just nodded walking off. Siana didn’t understand what was with these people and not replying to ones gracious behavior. Taking note that War had done the same thing that the woman who brought her plate after plate had done. It was like manors had faded with their blades sharpness.
Following after him Siana made sure to keep only a few steps behind him, his back muscles moving with every stride. Taking mental notes on everything he did, she was surprised how interested she was becoming of him by the days end.
Opening his chamber door he walked in holding it for her. Half in she caught the glare of a female who had been standing down at the end of the hallway. Her hazel eyes like torches burned into Siana’s blue water ones. War growled making her set to the side of the door, allowing him to close it.
“Pay no heed” He snapped walking to the dying fire. Tilting her head Siana moved slowly about his room.
Logs were tossed spitting small embers against the rock wall, using an iron to stir the flames alive War sat in his chair. His eyes seemed to distance as they watched the roaring fire eat its fill. Unsure as to what to do with herself, Siana stood behind his chair closer to the beds frame. He must of taken notice to her uneasiness and rose swiftly.
“You should bath before bed, help yourself to what you will” His hand motioned to a door adjacent the bed. Rubbing her neck Siana moved cautiously toward the door. Pushing it open she stood before the unknown. Large, white and holding silver spigots out of the wooden wall, were what her eyes examined.
She wasn’t frightened of the objects before, but more worried of breaking them. He moved closer behind her, causing her body to spike in temperature. This man, who she was eating next to, sleeping within his bed and begin around night and day had more power over her than she thought he took notice to.
“What is the matter?” It was rougher than she would of thought he meant it to be, and as her eyes turned upward she chewed her lip.
“What is it?” He blinked surprisingly before all emotion vanished once more.
“Have you not ever bathed before?” Siana frowned. She’d bathed before, she wasn’t a rebel thug with no manners. But whatever lay before she’d never even seen before.
“Not within the manor no” Her brutal honesty didn’t seem to appeal to him in the least, the snarl the permeated his throat was answer enough.
“Than wher….the river” He answered his own question before she could even open her lips. With a nod he growled lightly pushing her off to the side. With a quick lesson in what she was looking at, Siana learned that it was a bathtub, porcelain made as well. The shiny silver spigots that poked their heads out from the wall where what filled the tub with the occupants choice of cold or warm water.
She had stopped listening to him when he mentioned warm water could fill such a large tub, she’d never thought that was possible. Part of her wanted to know where he retrieved such things, as the youngsters room did not have such a luxurious item. But more so she was interested in why her father had not had one when she was a child, a lord was suppose to have the finer things in life….wasn’t he.
“Bath, I’ll be outside should you need me” He closed the door allowing her the privacy she both required and wanted.
While hot water filled her bath Siana peeled off each filthy layer of clothing, pushing it into a semi neat pile. Wrapped around her chest was a heavy bandage, with a sigh she began to unravel it. She’d been using this bandage ever since she’d notice her chest becoming that of a womans. After gaining a glimpse at what men found attractive in a female, Siana swore she’d hide them till there wasn’t a way to do so.
Each day the bandage was pulled tighter, and each day its length became shorter. They refused to stop growing. Further worrying her in the attempt of one day fleeing. If she was going to continue to live here she’d have to gain a new bandage, as this one was already wearing down on its fibers.
Legs lifted entering the full tub of warmth, her body shivering to the temperature change. The lower she sank the more she had to bite down a moan. Why anyone would bath in a icy cold river was unbe notice to her, this was sheer bliss. Layers of dirt that never came off in cold water clouded the tub, but she didn’t care. It was warm, like a mother's embrace and so relaxing she thought her muscles would melt into a pile of stew.
Dipping her head under, she felt at peace when the only sounds that could be heard were the ones she made. Noises from outside and within the manor seemed to fade away.
Watching flickering flames War rose to his door being knocked on, opening it to see Margaret holding a few items he leaned against the opened frame folding his arms over chest.
“Do not look at me so, she needs clean clothes and these shall do for now. Where is she?” Pushing past him as if he weren’t the imposing male she knew he was, Margaret looked around the room.
“Bathing” He answered with a grunt while closing the door.
“Good, I’ll see to her.” He’d not a chance to give word when she knocked on the bath door as well. Hearing water splash he groaned, knowing Siana had been startled for sure.
“Siana?” Margaret called allowing the girl to feel less nervous.
“Yes?” There was worry in her tone, one War wasn’t liking when he had hoped this area would be a safe haven for her.
Margaret placed a hand on the door knob twisting it slowly as to not scare her any more.
“I’m coming in with some clothes.” She advised Siana before fully stepping inside. Grunting with folded arms War went back to his seat, fiddling with his knife.
Holding her chest Siana looked up at the older woman, her eyes a bit glazed from being closed. Giving her a once over Margaret placed the bundle of clothes on a small table. Picking up all of Siana’s clothes Margaret lifted the bandage with a high brow, but before she could ask Siana snatched it from her.
“What on earth child?” She seemed confused till she got a good look at Siana, with a light chuckle she smiled.
“So that is how you’ve been hiding a figure. Fear not my dear your secret is safe with me. But you’ll be needing a new one.” Siana gave the rolled up bandage tucked under her arm look over, she knew what Margaret said was true, but fear of not getting another one before leaving the bath was more than Siana could handle.
Margaret rose to her full height, still holding a smile she headed for the door.
“I’ll get you another one, wash up.” Leaving Siana alone the door clicked closed.
Turning to face Margaret, War stopped his knife rolling only to be ignored by the woman. Twisting his lips in annoyed fashion, once again returned to rolling his knife over knuckles when she exited his chambers. Half asleep War jumped to balls of heels when his door opened without a single knock. Growling faintly at Margaret he watched as she swayed past him with random thing tucked under her arms.
“Hush, the girl needs these.” About to give her a piece of his mind she closed the bathroom door before allowing him such a chance. His top lip twitched, if this was going to be a regular habit of her’s then he’d let Siana sleep in her room from now on. He dropped heavily back into his chair grumbling fiercely.
Dressed in new clothes, with a fresh bandage to hide even her protruding feminality, Siana sighed. She couldn’t understand why she felt so weary. Having trouble keeping her eyes open to merely walk to the door, was taking a toll on her.
“Its from eating so much, you’ll get use to it deary.” A light pat on her head sent Siana into a fit of blinking. Contact with another living being besides the animals she killed for food, was very rare. She did her best not to seem so shocked, but guessed by Margaret's chuckling that she’d had indeed failed.
War had stood to the sound of the bathroom door opening, and his eyes were flickering back and forth between her and Margaret. Worried he was unhappy about something she moved towards the bed, unable to care unless told to go else where. All Siana wanted was sleep. Leaving without a word Margaret closed the door.
“Tomorrow you start your training.” Her eyes waved open, only getting a partial looked as lashes began to weight her lips down.
“Okay” It mumbled before sleep pulled her under its dark embrace.
