Chapter 3: Christmas Shenanigans
December 24, 2037
Most Christmas' don't have Percy in the freezing cold far from the city with a bottle of whiskey in one hand.
Juggling both bottles, Percy raised a hand and knocked on the door in front of him. The home itself was spacious and seemed to be a bit much for one man, but Percy didn't actually know how many androids lived with Kamski so he couldn't be sure if the space was too much or not.
An android opened the door, she had long blonde hair in a low ponytail that draped over her left shoulder, she had blue eyes and pale skin. Her face was lightly decorated with navy eyeshadow and pink lip gloss. She was wearing a dark blue dress that reached to her knees but seemed to not have shoes on.
"Hello, is Elijah home? Tell him Percy is here if you don't mind," Percy replied slightly hesitantly, suddenly aware he was totally just crashing into his friends house.
While Elijah had mentioned where he lived after dropping the finished RK500 off, Percy didn't actually know if Elijah mentioning his address meant he could drop by for something that didn't have to do with Lucas or not.
The female android's LED spun yellow for a few seconds before she stepped away from the door. "Right this way, Elijah has been notified of your presence and will soon be able to greet you. Please wait here for a moment," the android said as she lead Percy to a type of waiting room that held a large painting of Elijah along with another picture of him and, if Percy remembered right, his mentor.
"Thank you," Percy said quickly before he forgot his manners.
The blonde just indicated her head toward Percy before stepping back into the room that if Percy had to guess was where Elijah was.
Percy sank into one of the chairs, feeling the wariness that had been affecting him since his mother told him earlier that morning that her plane had landed.
When he inquired about what she was talking about, she realized she knew she forgot to mention something. That something turned out to be the fact that her, Paul, and Estella were spending the holidays in Los Angeles because of one of her new books series.
Meaning that Daniel was stuck with him and Lucas. Which was not ideal holiday he was expecting. So, instead of wallowing at home with two androids that seemed to be hating each other but at a silent rivalry, Percy told Daniel to enter rest mode until his return, while Lucas was tasked with making sure he didn't have any calls until the afternoon of the 25th.
After that, he booked it to the closest alcohol shop and bought himself a whiskey and made his way to Elijah, figuring the recluse man would be spending the Hols alone.
"Percy, not that I'm not happy to see you, but what are you doing here?" Elijah asked, there was a tint of worry in his voice.
After dropping off Lucas, Percy knew that Elijah half-expected him to drop their friendship, but Percy was loyal and truth-be-told he enjoyed Elijah's company.
"How about I tell you over a glass of Whiskey?" Percy inquired instead as he showed the two bottles to Elijah.
He saw his friend narrow his eyes at the alcohol, before looking into Percy's eyes like he was searching for something.
"When was the last time you slept?" he inquired instead as he grabbed his friends sleeve and then pulled him deeper into Elijah's house until they were in a type of living room. A flat-screen was hooked onto the wall and a three person couch sat in front of it with two lover couches facing the TV as well.
"Let's just say, teaching Lucas how to file paperwork was not what I was expecting. In any case, he finally got the hang of it. But that's not why I'm here. Honestly, I just want to get drunk and to just rant with a friend," Percy said awkwardly, wondering if he overstepped some sort of boundary.
"Uh Huh. Well, if we're going to get drunk, it's not over that cheap stuff," Elijah said with a hint of disgust toward the bottles in his hand. Instead, the man walked over to a large collection of alcohols behind a bar to the right of the couches and televisions.
Grabbing some sort of golden liquid container, he grabbed the container and then two shot glasses from behind the bar. Making his way to the couch, he sank next to Percy.
"I believe this will do, a fine whiskey to get drunk off of," Elijah commented as he quickly filled two shot glasses and handed one to Percy.
"Do I even want to know how much this might've cost?"
"No," Elijah responded and then clinked their glasses together and then both drowned the shot.
Feeling the burn in the back of his throat, Percy rested his eyes for a second, just enjoying the feeling.
"Alright, so what's going on that made you come to my place on Christmas Eve at, what ten pm?"
And so Percy spilled the story. He started it by explaining that his mother is a great person and wonderful mother, but since androids become inserted into society, she had become more recluse to her office just writing.
He didn't want to bash his amazing mother, but at the same time, he couldn't help but feel exasperated with how much she has changed since he was a teenager. Androids meant she could write more, and she did take advantage of that without her fully realizing it until it was too late.
The nanny bot, Daniel, helped fuel the behavior and as a result, she had a habit of sometimes forgetting how she may affect other people.
As a result, she had gone to Los Angeles about her new book without much thought, taking Paul and Estella with her, but forgetting to inform Percy about if he wanted to come or that they were leaving at all.
Elijah sat there, and they drank the shots until the room became upside-down as Percy had the great idea of just talking while hanging upside down from the couch.
They went a few minutes without drinks, mostly because Percy couldn't exactly drink while upside down, but it didn't last long as Percy finally got to the ranting, upset stage that had been slowly approaching.
"So, I'm not saying I hate you. Far from it actually, you're like, my best friend. But sometimes I really hate androids just because my mom changed after it. But eh, at least I have a new best friend out of it," Percy slurred as he became more intoxicated.
Elijah, ever patient, was sipping his drinks and quietly indicated to a Chloe to come over. "Please get a bag of ice and a bucket please," he whispered without much thought, more worried over his friend.
The Chloe nodded and left the room silently. "You're my friend too, Percy. That being said, I think it's time we retired to our rooms," Elijah said as he took the empty shot glass from Percy's hand.
Knowing that his friend had kept this in for a while worried Elijah, but he knew that he would feel better about releasing it in the morning, or at least after the headache subsides.
"What room?" Percy asked confused, especially as the room seemed more spinny then he last saw it.
"A guest room, I believe that it's your room for tonight, and should you stay for another."
"Hmm, you should probably inform Lucas that I will be here the night. Probably left him a bit worried, the way I just left after telling him to make sure I get no calls. Will you inform him that I-I'm good," Percy slurred as his eyes started to feel more tired.
"I will inform him, rest. One of the Chloe's will be by your bedside throughout the night to make sure you will be okay."
"K," Percy said and slumped against the couch.
Elijah watched as the last of the tension left Percy's shoulder and couldn't help but wonder how he, a recluse, had made a friend from Percy. In truth, he had no idea what he was doing when he approached the stranger hiding in the corner.
All he knew was that he felt a sense of kinship with the black haired man. Now, he can't help but be glad that he decided to be a bit reckless and approach the man.
He hadn't felt this human since his mentor Amanda was still alive.
Gazing at the passed out man, he barely acknowledged Chloe's return. "Please contact the RK500 named Lucas to inform him that Percy is safe and spending the night here. Should he need anything, tell him to call you or to stop by. Have Cass watch over him over the night, taking shifts with Cleo. Should he need anything, supply it unless you're uncertain, then inform me first and I will let you know if you should give it to him or not. Thank you girls," Elijah said distractedly as he put the Whiskey back toward the bar, rinsed the glasses, and then finally went to bed himself.
He barely acknowledged that it was roughly three-in-the-morning and that Cyberlife wanted him to stop by at eight to discuss a detective android.
