Chapter 20: Meeting Bryan

December 26, 2038

Waking up cuddled to Markus was certainly a way to deal with a hangover, at least, when Markus wasn't moving to get out of the bed.

Groaning, Percy wrapped an arm around Markus' waste and dragged him closer to him, trapping him into bed as he buried his face into Markus' shoulder.

"I need to get out, Percy," Markus said amused, a smile on his face that was obvious in his tone

"No," Percy mumbled with a small pout forming on his face. His head starting to pound behind his eyelids and the darkness of his face pressed against Markus' shoulder blocked the light.

"I'll be right back, promise," Markus said softly, his hand shifting through Percy's hair and making his boyfriend melt into the bed.

Percy sighed and felt tension released from his shoulders. Grumbling, he moved his arm from Markus' waste and moved his head to bury it into his pillow instead.

Quietly, Markus shifted from the bed and toward the bathroom where he grabbed something for Percy's headache and a glass of water.

Returning, he noticed that Percy hadn't moved at all but was obviously in some hangover pain as there was tension in his shoulder and his head was being pressed into the pillow in an attempt to stop the pain.

"Here, it'll take some time but this will help," Markus said softly, making sure to not speak too loud to cause more pain to Percy then needed.

"Thanks, Love," Percy mumbled as he lifted his head, flinched, but grabbed the water and the medication offered.

Easily drowning the pill and water, Percy shoved his face back into his pillow.

"I'm going to make some breakfast for you, why don't you try to take a shower with the lights either off or dim?" Markus suggested, his hand carding through Percy's hair again.

Percy sighed. "I probably should," he contemplated he he turned from the bed to glance at Markus' face.

"Though, it would be much more enjoyable if you joined me," he tone was joking though as he reached out for one of Markus' hand.

"Maybe when you don't have a hangover," Markus replied with a small grin.

Leaning over, he kissed Percy and pulled away before Percy got any ideas and tried to pull him back into bed. "Shower, then kitchen for your food. Will you be joining me at New Jericho to pick up Estelle?"

Percy hummed and seemed to just bask in the lazy morning they were having (even if there was a dull thud behind his eyes). "I suppose we'll see how I'm feeling after breakfast. But I'll probably pick her up today instead of having Lucas drop her off later," Percy said as he leaned up to give his boyfriend another kiss before moving for the bathroom.

"I'll make some eggs, bacon, and do you want one or two pancakes?" Markus asked.

"Two, we didn't eat much last night so I'm kinda starving," Percy joked as he walked into the bathroom, dimming the lights so he could see but not blind himself.

Markus nodded and started the breakfast as the shower started in the other room

"What's on your agenda today?" Percy asked curiously as they walked into a meeting room where Simon, Josh, North, Lucas, Connor, and surprisingly Hank were.

"Well, I have a meeting with some of the androids around, but I know that not this week, but next the President wants to schedule a meeting together to discuss laws that we will need to be placed. The physical meeting might not be this month or most of early January, with how things are going now. But we will schedule communication before then and try to get some basic rights in so that any negative contact humans may show us can have them arrested. So we can actually leave New Jericho without fearing for our lives, the only ones that really leave are under your employment."

Percy hummed and his mind raced with thoughts on how to help androids. Maybe he could talk to some people he knows that might not mind hiring some androids. Though, he might just be getting ahead of himself. In any case, it would be good if some basic rights were planted. "Alright. I am wondering though, have all floors of New Jericho been checked?"

"No, there's a sub level 59 that hasn't been checked. No one can seem to access it and Cyberlife is denying us access. Probably still feeling bitter over the fact we took over their tower, even with permission from the government," Simon thoughtfully said.

"Sub level 59? Nah, they wouldn't even have access. That's Elijah's workshop when he was working on a new line of androids. Bryan is probably there," Percy mused.

"Bryan?" Connor asked confused and Percy could tell the others were curious.

"Hmm, Connor's upgrade. Connor was the prototype for Bryan. Bryan is technically stronger and fast built, he was still a bit of a work-in-progress though when the revolution happened. The material he's made of is suppose to actually stop bullets and protect him from most weapons, like knifes or any blade. But because of the change of material, Elijah had been working on how to work with that material, but still have access to Bryan's biocomponents. Which lead to him making Connor first in order to actually test most of the equipment that Connor is made of," Percy explained.

"Like what?" North asked, realizing he never actually knew what biocomponents Connor may have that would be different then other models. Of course, he was a used for police work but he realized now he didn't know how exactly.

"May I?" Percy asked Connor to be sure, as it was the androids biocomponents and could be considered private if he wanted them to be.

Connor smiled and gave his permission, "I'm slightly curious as well. I know in moments what I may do, and I was told previously some of what I am able to do. But I was not giving an instructional guide in how I am different then other models."

"Well, his optical units are slightly different. He can actually see Blue Blood that has dissipated, then there's the processor on his tongue to sample things at the crime scenes, his hands had to be fully sterilized because he was handling evidence. Even with the lack of fingerprints, Elijah had to make sure he couldn't contaminant any evidence. His structure was slightly edited, not much, but enough to be shock absorbent for any impact he may do when chasing after a suspect. His actual coding had to be different than any other model, with the negotiations plus the adaption programs. Hmm, he also had to have his own base personality that may slightly change should he want it to," Percy explained and received shocked looks.

"Wait, what base personality? That sounds like having feelings?" Simon asked confused.

Percy saw Connor frown. "Well, in a way he did have feelings," Percy started and ignored the others surprised looks. "Connor would be working with the police, not as an assistant or taking tips or as a receptionist. But as a detective. As a detective, he would've been assigned a partner to work with," here Percy motioned for Hank, "which could be conflicting based upon who his 'master' was. Would he be taking his orders from his partner, their boss, or some rookie that may help him with his investigation. That's where things got tricky because Elijah also realized that if Connor was to have a partner, then he couldn't really act like an android fully. That's where some of Markus' and Lucas' coding came into play," Percy pointed out.

"How so?" Markus asked confused, he didn't think his coding was much different then his friends, but maybe there was more that he hadn't realized, Lucas had a similar thought process.

"Well, both Carl and I didn't really want an android to act as our helper. We wanted a friend, someone who could look at something and actually give an response to, like saying if they liked it or not. They were able to give an opinion about something that theoretically, they shouldn't have. Carl wanted it for his painting and eventually his relationship with a figure he thought of as a son, I wanted someone with an opinion to actually tell me what my thoughts were on something were idiotic or not. Most of the time that was finance related, but other times it was because I became too passionate about the animals I cared for that at times I needed to be told that what I wanted...was sometimes too much and that I couldn't help them. That opinion coding that both Markus and Lucas had before androids became deviant and have their own opinion, was put into Connor's as well. Though, Cyberlife wasn't fully happy about it, especially as he was suppose to stop deviants, not have a personality that would almost step over that line into deviancy, Elijah did it anyway," Percy said with a shrug, feeling slightly winded from his long explanation of Connor's (and Bryan's) system.

Everyone took that in for a minute, and Hank had rested his hand on Connor's shoulder, as unknown to everyone in the room but the duo, Connor had told Hank about the time that Amanda had told him that he was suppose to become deviant. But Percy's explanation of his coding, and his base personality, told Connor that technically Amanda wasn't wrong, but it wasn't true.

He wasn't created to become deviant and betray them. It actually was his choice, and Amanda hadn't been telling him the truth. It was his decision, and his choice that lead him to being deviant and break from his programming. Not Cyberlife.

"I think we need to get back to sub 59, you mentioned that it was Elijah's workshop. Are we to assume you're talking about Elijah Kamski? The creator of Androids?" Josh asked trying to turn the topic back around to Percy's original statement about Bryan.

"Yeah, Elijah was busy on ends working on Connor. The asshole even neglected his heath for a week. It took the combined efforts of Markus, Chloe, Cass, Cleo, and myself to get him out of there. In the end, I forced him to put me and Chloe into the system to drag him out if he ever did that again. I swear, if he had the choice he would never leave his lab," Percy said, his voice showing agitation but also exasperated love for the creator of androids.

"The Dick Kamski? You're friends with him?" Hank asked with narrowed eyes at Markus and Percy.

"He was good friends with Carl and Percy," Markus told the Lieutenant.

"And I know Kamski was an asshole when you and Connor went to talk about him. Honestly, I made him absolutely promise to never do anything like that to Chloe again, even if he had a hunch that Connor wouldn't shoot. I knew he wouldn't have let you shoot even if you were mostly machine Connor, the asshole loves Chloe to much to risk her life like that. Even with the programming of uploading her memory to another model. I feel like I should apologize about his behavior. Yes, he can be a dick but so can most humans. You just met him at a bad time where he was in curiosity mode and wanted to make a point," Percy said with a sigh showing how normal the behavior was for Elijah.

"Can you open the floor to us? And any idea how finished Bryan's model was?" Connor asked trying to once again steer the conversation.

"From the ramblings Elijah said last night while we were drinking, yeah Bryan should be done. Before you turn him on though, Connor will need to delete the coding that contains the Amanda Program and then find a way for him to become deviant. He's a superior android then you two, so before you wake him up call for Chloe, Cass, or Cleo to come over. While they were the first android, Elijah makes sure they are always the superior model in coding and should be able to convert Bryan to being a deviant when he wakes us," Percy explained.

"I'll call Chloe and meet you down on the level. You guys can head to the level and make sure that Amanda Program is erased," Markus said as everyone got up to go about waking Bryan up.

In agreement, Markus went toward the entrance of New Jericho while calling for Chloe or one of her sisters, while the rest made their way to the elevator.

"Please indicate your identity and destination," The elevator system said as the doors closed with everyone in it.

"Percy Jackson, sub level 59," Percy stated clearly for the android.

"Password needed," The elevator supplied.

"Do you know the password?" Simon whispered with a raised eyebrow. This also seemed to be the only level with a password needed.

"You're a fucking asshole, Elijah. Opening the fucking doors," Percy said happily as he bounced on his heels.

You noted the others 'what-the-fuck' faces as he supplied the password and watched it morph more into surprised amusement as the elevator dinged and started to move.

"That's the password? Why?" Connor asked taken aback.

"To be fair, when we set the password was the time Eli decided to spend, like almost two weeks in the lab. By the time I got in there and he demanded I set a password, I was far from amused. It was the first thing that came to my mind. Though, if he demands to start using the lab again we're going to have to change the password again," Percy said slightly thoughtfully as the memory passed his mind.

"Sounds like a story there," North asked looked eager for any dirt on the creator of the universe.

"Maybe, not tell you it though," Percy said mischievously.

North pouted as the elevator quickly arrived to the level and opened the door. There was machinery thrown all around the room, some were robot arms and legs, other were biocomponents that could easily been seen as tinkered with.

But, toward the back of the room standing in a charging station was an android that looked remarkably like Connor. The only difference was that the asleep android was slightly taller and should they have looked at his eyes noted they were grey instead of brown.

"This is Bryan, named by Elijah after I got to name Connor," Percy said as he looked over the android, noting the computer still plugged into Bryan's neck that had all of the android's coding on it.

"Connor, do you know what the Amanda Program coding looks like?" Percy asked as he opened the laptop and noted that Elijah should really add a password to the thing.

"I am, would you like me to make sure it's erased from Bryan's system?" Connor asked stepping forward.

"Yeah, if Elijah comes with Chloe or one of the other girls we can make sure it's all gone, but I think you should be aware enough to delete the program without impacting him," Percy said thoughtfully as he stepped aside and allowed Connor access to the computer.

It didn't take Connor long and by the time he was done looking over the coding, Markus had arrived with Elijah and Chloe behind him.

"Hey, Eli," Percy waved over as Elijah instantly went into his 'builder-mode' and looked over the coding himself.

After giving a satisfied and respectful nod to Connor, Elijah gave the all clear and giving a look to Chloe, turned Bryan on for the first time.

With the programming ready to start, Chloe connected with Bryan and showed him humanity and emotions. Causing his systems to adjust and become deviant accordingly.

Blinking his eyes open, Bryan looked around the room confused. "I think we should let them deal with this in private. With what he was shown, he might be confused by humans," Percy whispered to Elijah who nodded in agreement.

"Star Wars or Pirates of the Caribbean my place?" Elijah whispered back.

"Pirates of the Caribbean, just not the latest movie, that'll be saved for a drink game. Is Gavin still there?" Percy whispered back, noting how Hank was joining them in secretly leaving the androids to help Bryan adjust.

"He is, will that be a problem?" Elijah asked, his tone showing the big protective brother he was.

"Not at all, just curious. Everything going good there?" Percy asked with concern.

"Yeah, yeah I think so," Elijah replied hesitantly with a soft smile, happy that he was reconnecting with his brothers.

"Good. Dibs on the Gummy Worms," Percy said quickly as the elevator doors closed and watched as Elijah groaned and then pout at Percy.

"Children," Hank muttered as he shook his head toward the two twenty-year olds.

"Old Person," they replied back instantly with an insulted look.

Snorting, Hank just shook his head in amusement and somehow, there movie discussion was put on hold and a talk about meme's starting.

It was the start of a beautiful friendship between Hank, Percy, and Elijah as meme's started flying about.
