Chapter 18: Meeting Hank

Warning: This went a slightly different route then intended and I feel warning should be implied. A lot of swearing, mild torture, kidnapping, and honestly, a character that I made that I surprisingly really hate. So, basically some slight Percy Whump. But uh, other warning is kissing and Markus being a bit clueless but adorable.

December 20, 2038

With the budding relationship between Markus' close friend and Percy increasing, there was a time when Percy met Connor and Hank.

It mostly had to deal with a break-in at the aquarium of some adults trashing the place and writing graffiti. Thankfully, that seemed to be the only damage done, but it was enough that some of the androids that stay through the night to work were terrified.

The problem was that the group were android-haters, and when they came in with black masks over their faces, each with a gun or knife threatening the place, let's just say it was a tense night for the androids.

So, instead of calling the police first like they should've they called Percy.

"Hello?" Percy asked sleepily, noticing the clock by his bed read 7:30 am, and he only had gotten five hours of sleep.

"Percy?" replied a shaky voice that instantly made Percy alert, he never heard Ally sound as shaken as she had in that moment.

"What? What happened, are you all alright?" Percy rushed out, throwing over the covers and grabbing a pair of jeans.

"So-some people came in last night. They trashed the place and they...they threatened us. Charlie got hurt quite a bit, they didn't seem to like Selene the WR400 working for anywhere but the Eden Club, Charlie tried to protect her," Ally sobbed out, pulling Percy's heartstrings.

"Have you called the police?" Percy asked, quickly throwing on a shirt, grabbing his keys by the door.

As he left his room, he saw Estelle look up from her tablet, having been watching some videos on it while she waited for her brother to wake up.

Percy quickly motioned for shoes and dog leash and Estelle seemed to understand quickly, as she ran to the closest to grab both items and handed her brother his jacket as well.

Mouthing a thanks, Percy quickly told Ally to call the police and that he would be there soon to help them in anyway they could.

Shutting his phone, he gave Estelle the basics before he clipped Mrs.O'Leary up to leave.

While he generally would leave her alone, he knew that she was usually round up in the mornings and that Ally and the others would feel much calmer with her there, especially as he did the rounds on the animals to see if they saw anything helpful or if they were hurt at all.

As he arrived, he noticed police had arrived and were starting to close the scene. Quickly, he saw Lucas who was talking to a familiar android that Percy recognized.

Dismissing Connor for the time being, Percy called out to Lucas. Lucas, making eye-contact was quickly trying to get away from the two officers and head to Percy. The officers, seeming to know that Percy seemed important, lead the android to him instead.

"Percy, Ally did call you then?" Lucas asked, relief obviously present in his tone of voice.

Percy nodded and asked Lucas. "Is my office untouched?"

Lucas nodded and Percy quickly looked to Estelle. "I want you to go to my office with Mrs.O'Leary. I'll find you when this is done for the time-being. Alright?" Percy asked his sister.

Estelle nodded, clutching the leash more tightly, slowly made her way toward the aquarium. Sharing a look with Lucas, Lucas nodded and caught up easily with Estelle to pick her up and hide her from any of the damages done.

"You're Percy Jackson?" The gruff, older cop asked.

"I am, I own the place. Ally called me and I told her to call the police while I got here. Can you tell me what happened?" Percy asked.

"From what is seen, seven men came in, either having a gun or a knife. Three threatened the androids, one making a move on a WR400-"

"Selene."

Connor tilted his head as he wrote the name down, "- but a WM500 intervened-"

"Charlie."

"and got damaged in the process. The four other men graffiti and trashed the place," Connor finished what they could tell others for now.

Percy nodded with a frown on his face. "If you need to interview anyone else, you have my permission. If they give either of you trouble let me know, that includes the humans that work here. The ones that generally stay over the night would be some of the divers, or the garbage collectors. That being said, both generally leave around 3 to 4. Any idea how they got in?" Percy asked curiously.

After the stunt that lead to Lucas becoming deviant, he made the security better. You needed a badge and retinal scan (or for androids the serial number on their eye bicomponent) with a handprint (androids had to retract their skin and allow their system to connect with the program, reading their programming would be the same as reading someone DNA, but at a much faster pace as it was just coding the system had to recognize).

"Yeah, I wanted to ask. What's with the security?" The older, gruff cop asked. His voice showing his suspicions.

"During October, before the revolution, we had a break-in. A man smashed the window easily to get in. As a result of that altercation, I sustained a bruised rib and a cut that later got infected. Unknown to the public, it was the time my friend became deviant. I didn't want that to get out, not only would it put his life in danger, but possibly the other androids here if the government found out. So, to keep out unwanted people, I made plans for the installments. After the revolution, when I told Markus to ask around for androids who wanted to get paid to work, I wanted better security so they didn't have to fear being here. Seems like I messed up along the way," Percy replied with a frown.

He felt his heart heavy with guilt, the whole reason for the installment was so androids could find another place that wasn't New Jericho to feel safe. And he felt like he failed them.

"I don't think it was your system that failed," Connor blurted out and ignored his partners look as he recognized the guilty look on Percy.

"What Markus has told me of you, you try your best to help androids. I don't think it was the system that failed and let the intruders in, but possibly a disgruntled employees. Do you know if anyone that has worked with you, with access to the systems, have a past of dislike for you, your work, or androids?"

Percy furrowed his brow, a name had suspiciously came to mind. "I...I had to let go a human worker a few days ago. We're still handling inputting everyone in the system that we haven't had time to take him out of it," Percy admittedly said causing both police officers to straighten out and get ready for the name.

"His name?" Connor asked.

"Owen Hunt. I had to let him go. Before the revolution he didn't really like androids. And I hired him back because I understood why they left Detroit during the revolution, and offered their job again. But after the revolution Owen became, well, more angry. Enough that after a few complaints, from both humans and androids, that I didn't really have a choice but to let him go. He was...angry. He told me I was a fag and that if I was going to fuck a machine, then I'm no better then them. He made a threat against me that I hadn't really taken seriously," Percy admitted.

"What type of threat?" The older officer asked.

"Well, the first threat was against my work of place," Percy admitted as his hand rose and indicated his aquarium. "The next one would be me ending up in the hospital. The last one was a threat against my life."

Frowning, both cops didn't seem happy. "Until we find this Owen Hunt, we're going to post a detail with you. You're not to go anywhere alone without at least one of the cops with you. Does your daughter-"

"Sister," Percy cut in quickly.

"-sister go to school soon?"

Percy shook his head. "With the revolution and androids not getting paid, schools not in session as most places can't get enough teachers. I know it's something Markus is working on so I've been Cyber Schooling her for now so she can continue to the next grade. Anything she can't learn from her schoolwork, Josh helps her with or some of his friends," Percy explained.

"Then while you're home, you'll have one detail. If you head out and she stays home, you each get one. Understood."

Nodding and understanding it, they trio talked for a bit, where Percy learned the others name was Lieutenant Hank Anderson, and after getting the rest of the statements and looking at the crime scene once more, Percy went home with the detail.

"How long will they be watching us?" Estelle asked as she gripped onto Mrs.O'Leary's fur, making sure to not actually pull the fur but ground her and make her feel safe.

"For a week. If Owen's not found by then, then they're revisit the idea of a detail. They're here just to make sure we're safe. Now, I think I promised you pancakes for breakfast yesterday, I think having them for lunch will still work," Percy said and quickly, the two siblings tried to forget about the people watching their apartment but rather on relaxing and trying not to stress.

----------------

It took less than a week for Percy to be kidnapped. But it totally wasn't his fault. He was just getting tired and antsy in the mornings because he hadn't been able to work out for a week.

So, he might've gone out to play basketball with his cousin Nico, Jason, and Thalia. Where he was then kidnapped on his way home.

Totally wasn't his fault. He blamed his ADHD. Which was kinda apart of him. So, he guessed it was kinda his fault, but wasn't also.

It was confusing and the concussion he was sure he had from being hit in the back of the head probably didn't help.

Coming to, he realized he was in one of the many abandoned warehouse that Detroit had. Groaning at his luck, he slumped against the seat he was tied via hands on the arms and his legs to the chair legs.

"Finally awake," Owen Hunt said with a sneer.

"See, if you wanted me awake sooner. Giving me a concussion is generally not the route to go to," Percy sarcastically said, trying to get his hands loose enough to slip out of the restraints.

That had to be put on pause as his whole body tensions as Owen gave a hard punch to Percy's face. "Your sarcastic tone, lose it," Owen snarled out, anger radiating off of him.

Percy held his tongue, another sarcastic reply on the tip of his tongue. It wouldn't do well to get hurt now, not when it was still probably early in his kidnapping and the police wouldn't know where he was at the moment.

"Good," Owen said with a small nod, after watching for Percy's reply at all.

"So, what exactly have I done to piss you off?" Percy asked, shifting slightly in his seat.

"Androids fucked up our lives. I thought you would be better, instead you just fuck them instead," Owen replied, a disgusted look on his face.

"What the fuck are you talking about?" Percy asked and received a paunch to his stomach this time.

"Oh, don't bother denying your fucking faggot that loves androids. It's fucking obvious you're shagging the Android Leader. The fucktard ruined our lives and instead of fucking putting them down like you should, you fuck them instead. Fucking Android Bitch is what you are," Owen ranted out and threw another punch at Percy's stomach that made him bite his tongue from moaning in pain.

"Fucking hell, all this because of some androids? Dude, I feel like there's some deep psychology shit that can be sprouted out from this shit. Like, maybe you're denying your deep inner feelings regarding the profound love that you have for androids," Percy sarcastically said, while he knew he shouldn't it was a defense mechanism.

Plus, keeping Owen talking meant that he would probably get to live longer. That being said, his sarcastic reply got him another punch and Percy tried his best to hold on.

But after being punched in the stomach so many times, Percy was starting to feel sick and knew he would have a spectacular bruise there if he ever got out of here. God, Markus was going to kill him for getting hurt.

With thoughts on Markus, Percy tried to ignore the fucker beating him. It was hard, but Percy knew he would need to focus on anything but the pain his body was resounding with.

He didn't know how much time, but it was enough that eventually the DPD finally kicked down the door and after a bit of chase, arrested the fucking asshole who didn't even have enough brains to turn off his cell phone.

"Is there any damage that is crucial?" Connor asked as he knelt beside Percy, Hank right beside him untying the ropes that left a small burn around his wrists from the movements he made every time he got hit.

"Just going to be massive bruised stomach and a black eye," Percy muttered feeling exhausted emotionally and physically.

"We need you to go to the hospital in case of Internal Bleeding," Connor replied calmly as the detective and lieutenant helped him be untied as a paramedic android came in.

Nodding his head in thanks, Percy went quietly with the paramedic to the ambulance, tired from the days events and ready to just go home and sleep for fifteen hours with an ice pack on his stomach and eye.

-----------------

By the time he came out of his sleep, Percy noticed he was in the hospital and it was quite dark outside, meaning it was late. The clock confirmed it when Percy looked over, it having been just over midnight.

As he looked away from the clock, he noticed the body of a person sitting in the chair beside his bed, hand resting on his face and seeming to be sleeping, at least until Percy narrowed his eyes and recognized the Percy as Markus.

It seems the android had entered rest mode while he was waiting for Percy to wake up. Affection swelled inside him as his hand drifted from his lap and place it on the hand that had been resting on his bed.

As soon as he touched the android's hand, Markus jerked awake before relaxing as their eyes met. "Hey," Percy said softly, a smile forming on his face.

"You had us worried for quite a bit," Markus said, just as softly as he adjusted from his seat and instead, sat carefully on Percy's bed. Their hands still clutching the other.

"Sorry," Percy muttered, his eyes raking over the android's. Other than a few dark circles, Markus didn't seem too injured and while the circles under his eyes made Percy feel slight guilt, he also knew they've been developing for the last few weeks anyway.

"Nothing to apologize for. It was out of your control."

Percy gave Markus a slight smile, and the two sat there, just basking in the others company.

"Why did he kidnap you?" Markus asked softly, unknowingly his hands started to fidget and play with Percy's fingers.

"Apparently, I am an Android's Bitch and he didn't really like the fact that I was apparently dating an android," Percy replied, trying to sound casual as he watched Markus' reaction.

"Oh, I uh, didn't know you were seeing an android," Markus muttered awkwardly, and took his hands from Percy's.

"I haven't been dating one. But I have thought about one for quite some time. You see, I've known him before the revolution and I can say that even then, I think I was just a bit in love with him," Percy muttered and watched, slightly amused at how Markus was getting the wrong picture.

"Oh, huh, anyone I know?" Markus asked, trying to sound casual but by the way he still wasn't meeting Percy's eyes spoke volumes.

"I would hope so. You see, Owen apparently didn't like the fact I would be fucking the Android Leader of the revolution."

Here, Markus straightened out in shock and his eyes met Percy. But instantly closed as Percy seemed to sit up and give the android a soft kiss of the lips. There was no rush, just testing the others feelings. When they both felt the love the other had, the kiss turned softer, there was no need for it to go deeper.

It wasn't about the lust, while it was there, it was contained because this moment wasn't about that. It was the moment they let their feelings loose for the other, the love, affection, and just happiness they felt for each other.

Slowly, the two separated and Percy had to lay back down as his stomach pain finally made itself known.

"Are you okay?" Markus asked, seeing Percy's pained look as his hand over his stomach like he wanted to rub it but knew better.

"I will be," Percy said softly, his hand clutching Markus' as the android move to sit back down in the chair.

"Well, I hear you have a personal care-assistant helping you," Markus teasingly said. "So, I know you'll be alright."

"Hmm, is that so?" Percy asked with a smile.

"Yeah, I heard he was good looking."

"Eh, debatable," Percy smirked as received a small punch on his shoulder from Markus who shook his head with a smile.

"That hurt, right here in my Thirium Pump," Markus said patting the spot the biocomponent was located.

The two smiled at each other, and after a few more minutes of just talking, Percy fell back into much needed sleep. Markus, after watching his what, boyfriend, sleep for a few minutes, went back into rest mode with a small alarm attached to warn him when company was to come.

They hadn't quite discussed it yet, but Markus knew they needed to talk before telling their friends about their relationship. So, with that thought, he allowed himself to enter rest-mode, all the while his hand stayed connected to Percy's.
