Protective Brother
Connor sighs, looking down at his coffee drenched shirt. he's grateful he can't feel pain the way humans do. he sets the, now empty, cup down on the counter, shaking off his wet hand.
"hello Detective Reed." Connor grumbles. Gavin laughs.
"whats the matter, tin-can?" Gavin snorts. "its not like it hurt. plastic bitch." Gavin laughs. Connor sighs.
"watch your tongue, Lieutenant Anderson will not be happy to hear you." Connor says. Gavin rolls his eyes, grabbing him hard, by the collar of his shirt, growling.
"make me you plastic cocksucking bitch." Gavin snaps. Connor grunts slightly, grabbing hold of Gavins hands gently. he doesn't want to hurt the other.
"let me go Gavin." Connor says firmly. Gavin laughs, smirking at Connor.
"how about I put a bullet in your stupid little computer shit for brains? I'll fucking kill you, plastic little-" Gavin starts. suddenly a strong hand latches onto Gavins wrist in a painful grip. "hey!" Gavin growls.
"if you want to live, I suggest you let my brother go, least you want Lieutenant Anderson and I, to beat your ass." Nines growls lowly. he squeezes harder in warning. Gavin yelps, glaring at Nines, wincing.
"hey! let go of me tin-can!" Gavin snaps, growling.
"you first, bastard." Hank snaps, glaring. Gavin shoves Connor away, watching him stumble back against Hank. Nines yanks Gavin to his chest, growling in his face.
"sorry Hank." Connor mumbles.
"go change kid, I'll clean this up." Hank murmurs. Connor nods slightly.
"okay..." Connor mumbles. Connor leaves quickly. Nines slams Gavin against the wall to the breakroom.
"h-hey! let go of me!" Gavin growls. he grabs at the hand on his collar, now stuck in the same position he'd had Connor in. Nines lifts him up, making sure his feet can't reach the ground.
"touch my brother again, I swear Reed, I'll fucking kill you. I'll beat you so bad they won't be able to recognize you!" Nines snaps.
"let go of me!" Gavin shouts. "now, dammit!" Gavin hisses, kicking at Nines. Nines growls, grabbing Gavins wrist again, yanking his hand from his arm. Gavin hisses, trying to pull his hand free.
"let me put it to you this way, fucker. touch my brother again," Nines growls. he drops Gavin to the ground, before slapping his free hand over the mans mouth. he grips Gavins wrist harder, before snapping it in one quick move. Gavins shout is easily muffled by Nines hand over his mouth. the RK900 leans down into Gavins face, smirking. "I'll do that to the rest of your stupid body." Nines snaps. he smirks and legs go of Gavin, watching the man clutch his broken wrist.
"fucking dumbass." Hank snorts, heading back to his desk. Nines follows immediately.
"Connor alright?" Nines asks. Hank nods, sitting down.
"he's fine. sent him to get new clothes from my locker." Hank says. Nines nods slightly, sitting on Hanks desk, where Connor normally sits.
"good, as long as he's alright." Nines nods.
"what did Gavin do to you?" Hank snorts, looking up at Nines. the RK900 gives him a confused look.
"nothing, why? what do you mean?" Nines asks. Hank shrugs slightly.
"you were pissed. don't get me wrong so am I, but still." Hank says. Nines frowns, looking annoyed.
"so Connor didn't tell you." Nines frowns, more to himself than Hank. Hank looks confused.
"huh? tell me what?" Hank asks. Nines shifts on Hanks desk.
"remember two days ago, the triple homicide?" Nines asks. Hank nods slightly.
"yeah. they called you and Connor out for it. needed you both taking samples." Hank says, looking utterly disgusted. Nines huffs.
"well, I witnessed Reed kick Connor in the back of his head, hard. Connor had to take a sample twice because of him. it pissed me off." Nines growls. "but Connor... he just sat there like an idiot! he just fucking let it happen! it made me so fucking mad!" Nines snaps. Hank frowns, nodding slightly.
"its nothing new to him. I keep threatening Reed, that dumb bastard. I've broken his nose twice. nothing stops him." Hank grumbles. "no, he didn't tell me Gavin kicked him, but I'm not surprised. Connors afraid of me getting another disciplinary from Jeffery, he won't tell me." Hank scoffs.
"he let Gavin hurt him, I won't fucking let him. I'll kill Gavin if he tries." Nines huffs. Connor walks over awkwardly.
"Con, you okay?" Hank asks. Connors cheeks have a light blue tint to them.
"Connor?" Nines asks. Connor shifts awkwardly.
"I feel weird." Connor mumbles. Hank rolls his eyes.
"Connor, don't be stupid, you're fine. I told you. its alright." Hank soothes. Connors cheeks are dusted a solid blue by now. Nines looks confused at his brothers grumbling.
"whats wrong?" Nines asks, looking between them.
"he's got a hoodie and jeans on." Hank mutters.
"at work!" Connor cries. "these are not work clothing!" Connor shouts. Hank shoots Nines a look, trying to hold back a snort.
"do all Androids have OCD, or just deviant cop Androids?" Hank asks. Nines smirks.
"its standard in RK prototypes." Nines grins.
"its not funny!" Connor pouts. the blue tint is slowly growing across his face again. Hank immediately figures its some kind of blush. he chuckles softly, shaking his head.
"I don't have any other clothes here that fit you, Connor. we have three hours left, you will be okay, I promise." Hank assures gently. Connor huffs and pouts at him. Hank snorts, shaking his head again.
"its un-" Connor tries.
"unprofessional, I know." Hank assures gently. "you'll be alright, sit down and relax. its just for a bit Con." Hank says. Connor plops ungracefully into his chair, crossing his arms over his chest with a pout. "don't have a tantrum, Connor." Hank says. he tries to avoid looking at Connor. he knows the Android is shooting him puppy eyes. Hank stares forcefully at his terminal, but it doesn't work. he can still see Connor shooting him puppy eyes from the corner of his vision. Nines looks between them thinking.
"huh..?" Nines asks. Hank tenses, staring at his terminal. he groans.
"fine!" Hank snaps, catching a glance at Connors puppy eyes. "you and your god damn eyes!" Hank mutters. he shoves his chair away from his desk. Nines snorts softly, smirking when Hank glares at him. "I'll tell Jeffery we're leaving! get your stuff together!" Hank huffs, heading off quickly. Connor nods, watching Hank leave.
"you have him wrapped around your finger." Nines chuckles. "you two together finally?" Nines asks. Connor looks confused.
"huh? he's my partner, of course we are." Connor says, tilting his head. Nines raises an eye brow.
"are you serious?" Nines asks. he shakes his head. "clueless fucking prototype." Nines grumbles. Nines walks away, leaving Connor confused and watching after him, until Hank returns.
"come on kid, Fowler doesn't want you to have a melt down in here again." Hank mutters. Connors face, that had finally returned to normal, flushes dark blue again.
"that was Gavins fault!" Connor cries. Hank chuckles softly, shaking his head.
"its alright, c'mon Con. lets go home." Hank murmurs. Connor follows him out, pouting. the both climb into the car and Hank heads out of the parking lot.
"I'm sorry Hank." Connor murmurs.
"huh?" Hank asks.
"I'm sorry to make you leave early, Hank." Connor says. Hank waves him off.
"nah, I was ready to leave and start my weekend." Hank shrugs slightly. Connor nods hesitantly. "so," Hank starts. Connor looks over when the silence is suddenly broken.
"yes Hank?" Connor asks. Hank looks like he's barely holding anger back.
"when were you going to tell me, Gavin kicked you in the back of the head?" Hank growls, glaring slightly. Connors LED flashes red, before circling yellow, almost anxiously. he turns his head away from Hank, he doesn't want to see the mans anger.
"I-I... who told you? I know you didn't see it...." Connor mumbles.
"Nines." Hank frowns. Connor tenses slightly. "you should've told me Connor! dammit! I would've beat his ass! I'd have beat the fuck out of him!" Hank growls. Connor stares out the window firmly.
"I didn't want you to get in trouble defending me again." Connor sighs. Hank frown, reaching over to grab his leg gently.
"why won't you fight back against Gavin, hmmm?" Hank asks. Connor stares out the window, before sighing again.
"I don't like hurting humans, you know that Hank." Connor mumbles.
"Gavin is a bastard, you need to fight back against him! don't let him hurt you, Con." Hank says softly, squeezing Connors thigh gently. "baby, I know you could beat him so easily. he keeps hurting you because you won't defend yourself." Hank murmurs. Connor tenses slightly.
"I-I don't-" Connor tries.
"I know, I know. you don't want to hurt anyone, Connor, but you need to protect yourself." Hank murmurs softly.
"I'm stronger, I don't want to hurt him, what if I seriously injure him?" Connor asks, nervously. he looks at Hank. Hank frowns.
"Connor, if you were human, you'd probably be dead, with how often he hurts you and how he hurts you. he tried to kill you, pulled your pump regulator out!" Hank frowns. Connor flinches slightly.
"I know, but I'm an Android-" Connor tries.
"stop." Hank says firmly. Connor goes quiet. "Nines and I will deal with him, just, fucking tell me when he hurts you, got it?" Hank orders. Connor nods slightly.
"okay, got it." Connor murmurs.
"good." Hank says firmly.
"I don't understand why Nines is suddenly calling me his brother.... he used to want to kill me." Connor frowns. Hank snorts.
"he used to be a machine designed to kill you,now he's a deviant. things are different Con, besides, he's just a newer model of you, in human terms, he's basically your younger brother." Hank shrugs.
"its still odd to me..." Connor frowns. "and! he is acting as though his model is older than mine!" Connor huffs. Hank snorts.
"well you are a prototype. he's got different programming, right?" Hank asks. he shrugs. "besides, they made you so...." Hank trails, looking over at Connor.
"annoying?" Connor asks.
"no." Hank snorts.
"goofy looking?" Connor aks. Hank chuckles.
"cute and innocent looking." Hank snorts. Connor smiles slightly.
"so, not goofy looking, with a goofy voice?" Connor teases. Hank laughs.
"nah, you're still goofy, but I like you all the same." Hank chuckles. Hank offers his hand out to take Connors. the Android perks up, happily taking Hanks hand, intertwining their fingers with a grin. Hank cracks a half smile. its easy to make Connor happy, and Hank loves Connors goofy and crooked little grin when he takes his hand. "Connor?" Hank ask.
"hmm?" Connor hums. he turns to smile at Hank again.
"whats the goofy grin you get when you hold my hand?" Hank asks. Connor ducks his head down, cheeks flushing blue and he looks away, bashfully.
"I-I... I like it... makes me happy..." Connor trails. he feels self conscious now. "I can stop.... if its stupid. I'm sorry." Connor mumbles. Hank shakes his head quickly.
"no! don't stop, Con. its not stupid, its you." Hank assures gently. Hank squeezes his hand gently. Connor, despite the blue dusting his cheeks, smiles hesitantly at him.
once Hank parks the car, they get out and head inside.
Sumo barks, running over happily. he immediately tackles Connor back against the wall by the door as Hank closes the door. Hang feels a twinge of jealousy that his dog loves his boyfriend more than him, but at the same time understands where the dog is coming from.
"Sumo!" Hank laughs. "no! we've been over this! don't do that!" Hank shouts, trying to sound firm. he's failing. the look on Connors face and his giggling, makes it hard to stay firm with the dog. Connor laughs, petting him happily, before pushing him off gently.
"its okay, I'm alright Hank." Connor assures gently, wiping at his face. Sumo heads over to Hank licking his hands, leaning against him for pets.
"good boy." Hank murmurs, petting him gently. he walks over to Connor and uses his sleeve to clean the drool out of Connors face.
"oh! Nines just messaged me." Connor says.
"whats up?" Hank asks, stepping away from Connor gently.
"Nines is asking if he can come by later." Connor says. Hank raises an eyebrow.
"hmm? why?" Hank asks. Connor shrugs slightly.
"he won't say." Connor says. Hank shrugs back.
"alright. he's basically your brother, I won't tell you, your brother can't come over." Hank says. Connor nods and responds to Nines quickly.
"he says he will be here later, after his shift ends." Connor says. Hank nods slightly.
"alright, wanna take Sumo out?" Hank asks. Connor grins.
"yeah, c'mon Sumo." Connor grins. Hank smiles, getting the leash.
"Sumo, come here bud." Hank murmurs. the Saint Bernard lumbers over with a yawn. "good boy." Hank murmurs, scratching behind his ears. he hooks Sumos leash up, before handing the leash to Connor. the Android takes it happily. Connor can easily handle the big dog better than Hank. it makes it easier for them all.
they head out of the house happily, Connor brushing against Hanks side with a happy hum. Sumo barks sniffing around, tail wagging excitedly. Hank chuckles, pulling his hand out of his jacket pocket to take Connors. Connor looks down at their hands, before smiling up at Hank. the Lieutenant snorts, rolling his eyes. Connor intertwined their fingers, letting Hank shove both their hands into his jacket pocket.
"you know, its 15 degrees outside Hank, you should really be wearing gloves." Connor says, turning to look back at Sumo when the dog stop to sniff at a bush.
"eh, I don't need gloves, Con." Hank snorts.
"I disagree. your fingers are 3 degre-" Connor tries.
"I'm fine." Hank assures. Connor frowns slightly but nods.
"alright. if you're sure." Connor mumbles.
"I'll be alright." Hank smiles at him. Connors LED circles blue happily. "hey why do you keep that thing? is it, I dunno, important to ya?" Hank asks, using his free hand to make a circle by his other temple. Connor looks over at him, before shrugging.
"no not really, but you seem to look at it a lot when I'm experiencing emotion. sometimes I don't.... express it properly.... I still have a hard time with them..." Connor frowns. his LED circles yellow before settling back on blue again. "and I know you look at it for help on what I'm feeling. I don't always show the proper emotion on my face either. besides that, there's no benefit to keeping it, but there's also no disadvantage to keeping it." Connor explains. Hank squeezes his hand gently, chuckling.
"makes it easier for me." Hank murmurs. he looks over at the Saint Bernard. "Sumo! leave the flowers be!" Hank warns. Connor smiles.
"its too cold for a repeat of the bee incident Hank." Connor chuckles softly. "is your other hand as cold as this one?" Connor asks, looking over.
"nah, my hand is fine." Hank assures. Connor frowns, gently warming his hand, to keep Hanks hand warm.
"is that better?" Connor asks. Hank smiles, giving a soft chuckle.
"yeah, thanks sweetheart. I can feel my fingers again." Hank murmurs, squeezing his hand again gently. Connor grins happily. "you and that goofy, toothy, little grin." Hank murmurs. Connors cheeks take on a familiar blue tint, making Hank laugh.
"Sumo, come on buddy." Connor says, tugging the leash gently in an attempt to change the subject. Hank laughs, pausing only when his cell phone rings.
"hang on Con." Hank murmurs. he pulls his phone out answering the call. Connor smiles, turning his attention completely to Sumo, he gently pulls his hand free from Hanks, kneeling down. Sumo's ears perk up and he walks over, tail wagging quickly. Connor giggles softly, petting him happily.
"you're such a good boy." Connor murmurs.
"alright Con." Hank says. Connor stands up, looking at Hank. "we've gotta go back." Hank says. Connor looks confused.
"huh? why?" Connor asks.
"the couch we ordered came early. they'll be there in about 30 minutes, so we need to get the old couch out of the way and ready for them to haul off." Hank mutters. Connor nods and smiles.
"come on Sumo." Connor murmurs.
they head back to the house happily.
"should we put Sumo in the backyard so he doesn't get hurt or would he be better off in the bedroom?" Connor asks.
"we'll put him in the bedroom. he'll be alright in there." Hank assures. Connor nods, looking down at the dog. Sumo is happily trotting along beside them. Connor winces slightly, rapidly blinking, before shaking his head slightly.
"Nines will be getting off early. he finished all of Gavins paperwork backlog. he has a few more things to do, but then he will head for the house." Connor says. Hank nods.
"alright. those little messages still hurt?" Hank asks.
"not all the time. the update I got really helped. I do occasionally get on that hurts, but its not every single time anymore." Connor assures. Hank nods.
"well, as long as they don't hurt all the time." Hank murmurs.
"I will tell you if they ever start hurting all the time again. I promise." Connor assures as they walk up the steps to their shared house. Hank nods, opening the door.
"good. lets get Sumo put up and get this couch out of the way." Hank says.
"I'm perfectly capable of moving the couch by myself, Hank. I won't let you hurt your back." Connor frowns. Hank rolls his eyes.
"I'm not that old, my back can handle it." Hank assures. Connor frowns, eye brow raised.
"you mean like you handled the new dryer when the old one went out?" Connor asks. Hank glares at him.
"that was a one time thing-" Hank starts.
"Hank, you threw your back out and were in a lot of pain for three weeks. I won't let that happen again." Connor says firmly. Connor had been sure his Thirium pump was going to fail when he heard Hanks cry of pain that day, even after Hank had explained he was find, just threw out his back.
"Connor-" Hank tries.
"no. I'm perfectly capable of moving the couch myself." Connor assures firmly. Hank rolls his eyes.
"fine. move the damn couch." Hank grumbles. Connor chuckles and sets about moving the old couch outside, listening to Hank mumble about fucking Androids and how they think they're soooooooo strong.
Connor only strugges slightly, but does manages to get the couch out himself. he heaves a sigh, before heading back inside.
"alright I got it moved Hank." Connor smiles. Hank steps out of the bedroom, closing the door behind him so Sumo couldn't get out.
"I could've helped with that." Hank huffs. Connor chuckles softly.
"I didn't want you to help and get hurt." Connor murmurs. Hank rolls his eyes and walks over to Connor.
"I would have been fine to help Con." Hank murmurs.
"I don't want you hurt." Connor frowns, firmly. Hank huffs, pulling Connor to his chest and wrapping his arms around his waist. he rests his forehead against Connors. Connor smiles at him slighty, wrapping his arms around Hanks neck.
"look, I appreciate the concern, Con, but I don't need you to watch out for me." Hank murmurs. Connor huff, looking annoyed.
"Hank, humans are fragile and at your age-" Connor tries.
"at my what?!" Hank growls, pulling back slightly. Connor snorts.
"I didn't mean it like that Hank, but you shouldn't be moving heavy furniture at this point in your life again." Connor murmurs. Hank scoffs, but kisses his partner. Hank knows Connor is worried for him, for his health. he knows the Android wants as much time with Hank as he can get and doesn't want to risk it being ended early. Hank pulls back resting his forehead against Connors again.
"I'm not some frail old man Con. I'll be alright. I promise." Hank assures gently. Connor nods slightly.
"okay." he murmurs. Connor pulls back and turns his head towards the door. "couch is here." Connor says.
"just let the furniture guys move the couch Con." Hank frowns. Connor nods.
"okay, I will." Connor murmurs, stepping away from Hank. Sumo barks from the bedroom.
"I'll go sit with Sumo." Hank murmurs. Connor nods slightly, watching him go.
Hank heads into the bedroom and sits on the bed.
"its alright Sumo. just getting a new couch buddy. its alright." Hank murmurs, patting Sumos head gently. he sits with Sumo for nearly 45 minutes, before Connor shouts, through the thin walls, that the couch is in and Hank can come out with Sumo.
Hank lets Sumo out and follows after him. he whistles, smirking at the couch.
"I told you this one would fit." Hank smirks. Connor rolls his eyes.
"its... puce, Hank. puce it doesn't fit the rest of the living room." Connor pouts.
"I let you buy a new dryer, I got to pick the couch, that was the deal." Hank huffs.
"that dryer was a fire hazard." Connor snorts, rolling his eyes. he chuckles softly. "its you, though." Connor murmurs.
"and what the hell is that supposed to mean?" Hank huffs.
"nothing. nothing. its nice." Connor grins. Hank rolls his eyes and walks over to Connor.
"you better apologize." Hank says firmly.
Nines whistles to himself, walking up the steps. he's been here often enough that Sumo knows him and doesn't bark, so he doesn't even bother to knock, simply throwing the door open. he pauses immediately, watching Connor and Hank scramble apart. Connor is far faster than Hank, scrambling away from the man and out of the room. Nines stares a moment before grinning.
Hanks not worried when Connor scrambles away. he knows that Connor isn't ashamed of him. Connor doesn't mind PDA but when he's caught off guard having time with Hank, its embarrassing. it means his scanners had been distracted, proves once again he's a failed prototype.
"well. well. well." Nines smirks. Hank huffs, rolling his eyes. "so you are together then." Nines grins. Hank shakes his head at Nines.
"Nines. what the hell are you here for?" Hank frowns. Nines smirks and steps towards Hank.
"I've got an undercover assignment for Gavin and I. it was approved by Fowler, but he wants your approval on it. not Connors perfect little 'Hank Anderson' signature. your actual signature." Nines says. Hank frowns, almost confused.
"and it couldn't wait until tomorrow?" Hank asks. Nines shakes his head, holding the file out to Hank.
"Fowler said you prefer paper." NInes says. he's still got the creepy smirk on his face. Hank ignores it, grabbing the file. he reads over it.
"you two are going into a Red Ice Ring undercover? yeah, try not to die." Hank mutters, signing the paperwork. he holds the file back out to Nines. Nines takes it, but grabs hold of Hanks wrist, yanking him forward easily. Hank grunts, stumbling forwards slightly with a glare. "let go of me." Hank snaps, growling. Nines grabs Hanks collar. he knows Hank won't back down. Hank isn't Gavin. Gavin is all bark and no bite, but Hank will stand his ground.
"I'll say this once. you make Connor happy, I know you do. he's, as the humans say, head over heels for you. you hurt him, I'll kill you. I promise you that." Nines says firmly.
"fuck off." Hank snaps, smacking Nines hands off. its not as easy as he'd like, but Hank does manage to pry himself free. "go fuck yourself. I didn't help him Deviate and spend three years getting him used to emotions just to hurt him. now fuck off." Hank snaps, heading after Connor. he wouldn't hurt Connor, he'd never hurt Connor.
