JONAH COULDN'T BELIEVE HIS ears when Dorcas mom called him,he didn't know what to do and different emotions hits him at once,he didn't know if he has to jump or shout or cry,he was so confused and the only thing that came into his mind is seeing her right away and apologize all over again,he rushed over to meet Anna and went to the car speeding down to the house

He dropped Anna at home and turn back going to the hospital leaving Anna confused,he entered the familiar building in haste than he ever did

"Jonathan!"the receptionist called smiling

"Miss Sandra!"Jonathan said rushing inside the ward Dorcas is in without waiting to exchange the normal pleasantries between him and the receptionist,he slowly stopped walking when he saw the door to the room Dorcas is in

He gulped suddenly feeling nervous and his hands started shaking,he didn't know how to approach Dorcas,he didn't know the reaction he is expecting from her and that got him scared,he stood at the front of the door too scared to open it when the door opened abruptly and he came face to face with Dorcas' mom who was busy smiling her smile stretching so hard

"You came"The woman said and Jonah nodded smiling nervously "come inside"

"Yeah I should"Jonah said rubbing his sweaty hands on his jeans before entering the room,he expected Dorcas' mom to follow her but the woman locked the door behind him leaving him alone with Dorcas

His legs start shaking too scared to look at Dorcas,he didn't know where to start or explain himself,he was just careless and now he regrets it,he really do

The silence was killing him and he felt like a coward because the feeling to cower away is stronger than actually seeing her

"Jonathan!"he suddenly heard an hoarse familiar voice and he swallowed gaining the courage to move closer and saw Dorcas on the bed but this time around not sleeping as usual,her eyes were wide open but looks tired,her breathe haggard and she raise her hand up which Jonah took sitting beside her

"How are you feeling?"Jonathan asked

"Better"she replied chuckling dryly "mom told me it's already SS2 second term and the term is approaching its end"

"Yeah I'm sorry"

"It's fine,I would have been so mad at you if I woke up when high school is over"Dorcas said laughing shortly and Jonah look at her in awe,that wasn't the reaction he was expecting

He expected Dorcas to lay an accusing finger on him, telling him how he stole her life and how he messed up things for her but the Dorcas here was smiling at him like an old friend

"Dorcas"he called leaning closer to him "I'm sorry about that night,that was childish of me"

"Hey! That was a year ago"Dorcas said laughing "it's fine,your punishment is just to guide me when I'm fit to resume school"

"How? How did you forgive me so easily?"Jonathan asked looking confused

"I did because I know you will purposely not do something bad at me,I saw your eyes when I was shot before I loose consciousness I heard you pleading for me to keep my eyes open and when I was in hospital I heard you sometimes, begging me to wake up and forgive you,I never had the strength to reply back or to show you I heard you but I knew you were genuine,you wouldn't hurt me purposely"Dorcas said and a tear escaped Jonathan's eyes

"Thank you so much Dorcas,you don't know what you just did,you don't know what you just saved me from,I have lived in guilt for the past year,I felt like I took away everything from you,Khemi changed school because of that and I felt guilty always"Jonathan said and Dorcas smiled holding Jonah's hand,he lean over kissing her forehead and Dorcas giggles

"My cheek too"she said and Jonah chuckled kissing her cheek "you have to fill me about everything that happened in the past one year"

"I will but not now,you have to rest first hmm?"Jonathan said and Dorcas closed her eyes tiredly "I will see you tomorrow, thank you"he added kissing her cheek once more before standing to look at Dorcas'mom who is looking at them smiling,he went over to hug the woman who patted his back and he muttered thank you before leaving

He left the hospital in joy happy that Bisi hold nothing against him anymore and now it's the right time to set everything right between him and Joy,he have to beg her and tell her everything that happened and he have to tell Anna too about everything

He went back home hugging Anna lifting her from the floor and Anna got confused

"Is Joy awake?"Anna asked and Jonah furrowed his brows

"No"

"Why so happy then?"Anna deadpanned and Jonah's good mood dulled immediately

"Nothing"he replied entering his room then he lay on his bed throughout the day planning how he is going to break to Bisi and Raymond they hold nothing against him anymore,Dorcas waking up have done him much more good

The monday came and Jonah woke up earlier than usual,he performed his rituals wearing his uniform with his plans well laid out how he was going to delete certain people from his life

He left his room to the dining table only to see James playing around his food not eating and Anna is nowhere to be found

"What's wrong with you?"he asked

"Me?"James asked rubbing his neck "nothing"

"I'm your big bro you can tell me anything"Jonah said and James smiled sadly immediately letting Jonah know that something is up

"Am I really an albino? You know Anna use to insult me with that word a lot and now in school some certain people are bullying me with it,they said I'm an ugly albino"James said and Jonah grew angry,he had always warned Anna to stop calling James that name

James is not an albino,he is just white like a western man with good looks that run in the family,if James is an albino his hair wouldn't have been black or maybe he would have had black spot all over his body

"Hey James!" Jonah called gaining his attention "you're not an albino,mom and dad didn't born you one and you won't be one,you're just few shades lighter than us and there's nothing wrong with your skin colour,even if you're an albino there's nothing wrong with it,every skin colour is accepted,don't let someone tell you otherwise and bully you, people only get into your head if you let them and without your permission no one can hurt you"Jonah said and James bursted into tears breaking Jonathan's heart

James who had always been known to be a cheerful boy crying so hard shows how much the words really hurt him,Jonah stood up and went over to his ten years getting to eleven years old brother,he carried him and wiped away his tears

"We can actually do it in the other way"Jonah said smirking devilishly

"What way?"

"The brother's way,that is you telling me who those students are and me dealing with them,how do you see that?"Jonah said and James face lit up

"So cool,I always told them my big bro will deal with them but they said you can't do anything"James said and Jonah smiles

"Then we should show them you don't have a big bro for no reason"

"Yeah"he said his mood totally changed and Jonah was happy

"Eat your breakfast then"he said dropping James who smiled in turn sitting down and digging down on his breakfast, Jonathan sat down too eating his breakfast when Anna joined and they all ate in silence

The ride to the school was short and they all came down from the car dispersing to their class after James succeeded winking at Jonah who winked back and Anna narrowing her eyes at them but they successfully ignored her leaving for their classes

Jonah looked around while in class and saw Joy wasn't still in school which shaken his heart but nevertheless he promised to visit her after the day ends,they wrote two test that morning before the break period and Jonah rushed to James class asking James to call out those students calling him names

"So it's this small small rats that decided to bully my brother?"he asked and the six JSS1 students legs were shaking profusely and the girls already crying

"We are sorry senior,we won't do that again"They all said and Jonah smiled after looking at his brother who is grinning from ear to ear

"I will only forgive you after apologizing to James and after that if I ever hear you bully him again I'm going to give each of you ten strokes of Cain"Jonah said and they all quickly knelt before James apologizing and James smiled brighter

"I forgive you"he said and Jonah nodded asking the students who Jonah already laid feared on to go

"Thank you so much big bro"James said hugging his brother who patted him before leaving quickly,he wanted to get to Bisi as soon as possible but James has to come first

Luckily for him he saw Bisi strolling along the school corridors and he jogged over to her grabbing her left hand and dragging her over to a secluded place

"What was that?!"Bisi spatted rubbing her hand and Jonathan saw marks on her body showing she was beaten recently,he assumed he didn't see anything

"I wanted to let you know,your days of black mailing me is over,Dorcas woke up and luckily for me she forgives me,you can tell that to your fuck buddy Raymond too cause I got no words to share with him and his minion Gideon,non of you can stop me from whatever I want to do now"Jonah said pushing her before leaving feeling on top of the world

The day came to an end and Anna came over to meet Jonah

"Are you going to the hospital to meet Joy,cause I'm going now"Anna said and Jonah stood up flinging his bag on his back

"Yes,let's go"he said and Bisi appeared and he scowl

"She's coming with us"Anna said and they left not after Jonah giving Bisi a very dark look that made her cower away

They took the taxi after informing their driver to take James back home,they successfully entered the hospital with so much anticipation from Jonah's side,he wanted to apologize over and over to Joy and set their relationship right,he smiled throughout the walk into Joy's ward

Their steps slow down when they saw Ruth on the floor crying and thrashing shouting Joy's name,they suddenly regained their senses running over to her and Jonah caught her from hitting her head on a table

"What happened?"Anna asked feeling scared

"It's Joy! It's Joy ooo! She has kill me! Joy had kill me o! Someone should call Joy for me! Someone should call Joy for me!"Ruth said scaring the shit out of the three of them

"Miss Ruth please just tell us what happened"Jonah asked growing scared all the feelings he came with slowly dying

"Joy! Joy died this afternoon! She's gone! Joy is gone!"Ruth said and Jonathan grip on Ruth loosen and he took a step back,that's the least of things he expected to hear in fifty years to come

He stood motionless not able to hear words not able to hear Anna's cry,not able to hear the nurses rushing over to them and suddenly he screamed he screamed his lungs out guilt falling on his shoulder
