kari's pov

the morning bell rang, signalling an assembly in the main hall.

we all calmly walked over there ready to hear our principal go on and on about presentable uniform and being the best salvatore girl that we can be.

"good morning, salvatore ladies" her sharp and manly voice called across the hall. "as you may have heard, since certain rumours have been spreading, the students from alexander boys school will be joining us tomorrow for the next two months".

immediately, half of the school groaned at announcement, while others subtly cheered.

"this is because their school is currently being re-built due to an dreadful prank that was committed" she added.

"so, why do we have to suffer?" ava called out. some of us muttered to show that we agreed, but others scoffed at the comment.

the alexander boys school is just 10 minutes away from ours, but for me that honestly isn't far enough. they're known for having this rebellious reputation that us private school girls really shouldn't associate with.

rachel bentley dated a guy named cameron dallas from that school once, and after their one week anniversary, she dropped out of school, started smoking and her parents disowned her.

so i'm not gonna let any of those alexander boys distract me from my studies or to get to my head, because i know that that is what they all aim to do.

"i can't believe that this is happening to us" i complained as i pushed back my long, dark hair, while we walked back to our dorms to collect our things for class.

"for me, i think that having alexander boys here will finally liven up this place," my best friend, chantelle said.

she's completely boy crazy and has been wanting to get closer to these boys for years considering we go to an all girls school. i wouldn't even be surprised if she helped plan that fire prank with them.

"or they'll finally burn down the place," our other friend, meredith nervously added.

"i just think it's ridiculous how we're being forced to interact with such sexist pigs" ava argued.

ava's part of our group too but, she's much different than most of us salvatore girls. she isn't afraid to express her crazy opinions that get her stuck with a two hour detention, or protest on how we're being treated like prisoners.

my parents always tell me to stay away from her, but i've been friends with her for two years now and i doubt she's going to try and influence me now.

"miss chantelle hamilton and miss ava lockwood," the principal yelled from down the hall. "from here, i can tell that both your skirts are above your finger tips. pull them down immediately".

ava always thinks that having our skirts so long is just a way to restrict us from expressing ourselves, whereas chantelle just has her skirt so short because she feels like it.

they both rolled their eyes and plastered on a fake smile while pulling the skirts down - that was until she was out of sight and they pulled them back up.

"you're just going to get told to pull it back down again" meredith warned once we reached the room that all four of us shared.

"so what?" chantelle scoffed. "they treat us like we're nuns, it's bad enough that we have to wear these ugly uniforms".

we all suddenly cringed as we looked down at our white shirts tucked neatly into a plaid skirt. we also wore knee-high, grey socks in black, sensible shoes with a black blazer or cardigan, that practically advertised the school's logo.

"at least we only have to wear them on weekdays" i brought up, trying to brighten up the mood. but they all ignored my gesture and grabbed their backpacks.

hey guys. i'm really bad at first chapters but as you can tell, the story is based around four girls. kari, chantelle, meredith and ava, and obivously soon the omaha squad. btw the girls go to a private, boarding school and the boys go to a normal mainstream school, but wear uniform.
