When I was still a human and worked normally as an assassin, I went to the council or my client after every completed mission, reported there how it went when I had to kill someone and handed in things I was supposed to bring. Then I would go home and do almost nothing but sleep, eat, train, and start all over again until the next order came.

Now, however, with Zhan, it's different. The job is done, the council informed and we went to our home where our family was already waiting for us and greeted us joyfully. They hugged us warmly and told us how much they missed us. Afterwards we all sat together and talked. It was just nice.

Then later when it was time to go to bed, I threw Zhan over my shoulder and hurried with him to our room where we made love for hours before falling asleep completely exhausted. Only to wake up later and spend time with our family again.

I now have a life like I always wanted. A great husband by my side, loving in-laws and a home where I feel comfortable. I couldn't ask for anything better than that. And for that I am more than grateful.

But what I've also noticed in the last few days since we've been back is that my brother has blossomed. He was smiling and laughing an incredible amount. Most of the time he is with Cheng and the two of them seem to be having a lot of fun. And I am convinced that my brother has really fallen in love with Cheng.

I have never seen my brother like this before, like in the past few days. When I saw him, he almost seemed like he was floating with happiness. When the two of them were out walking, Cheng usually clung to my brother's arm. My brother always looked especially happy and proud. His boyfriend is a strong vampire, but he is the one whose arm his boyfriend clings to.

It kind of reminded me of Zhan and me too. Whenever I held Zhan's hand or he clung to my arm, I knew Zhan was much stronger than me, but still I felt like his protector. Like someone he can rely on. And by now that's even true. Now I can really protect my Zhan and that makes me even more proud. But enough of that. Back to the more important issues.

A few days after our return, it must have been 4 days, Zhan received a new threatening letter. This time, we could definitely rule out Meng Yao because, well, I killed him. But, then, who could it have been? Who else? Even Zhan has no idea who else might be behind it.

And this time, it wasn't the same words that were always in the threatening letters. Now it said: "You have taken away my greatest chance! So I will take from you what is most important to you!" Well, what to say. I had to smile. Does the person who writes these letters want to hurt me? He can try it with pleasure, if he can stand the echo afterwards!

Since Zhan and I are mated and I now have a say in the matter, I decided it was time to involve Zhan's parents and the council. Not that I was afraid, no, no. I just hoped that someone might have an idea who might be behind the threatening letters.

Zhan's parents were stunned when we showed them the threatening letters. But they were also perplexed. They could not imagine who could be the author of the letters. After all, there was no one with whom Zhan had any problems.

So we turned to the council. We took pictures of the threatening letters and sent the pictures to the Council in an email. Council member Choi then called us and said the following, "That can only be the former principal Jan of the Vampire Academy!" Zhan and I were flabbergasted! Who? And why?

"What makes you think that?" I asked Choi.

"Well, he was destined for a seat on the council at that time, because his father already had a seat on the council once and held a lot of appreciation. Many people already expected that his son would also get such a high position one day. But after it came out that he knowingly and willingly allowed Zhan and several other students at the school to be bullied and terrorized, we decided against him. We removed him from his position as principal and told him that he would never get a seat on our council. He did not take that well. He threatened at that time to seek revenge. Even though it was his own fault that he had to step down as director and received nothing but contempt from most for his behavior as director."

"So if he's the one threatening Zhan, and now yes somehow threatening me. How do we handle it with him now then?" 

"Well, after we received your email, we talked about how to act if it turns out to be Jan. And we decided unanimously that we will leave the decision to you. We trust you guys, and after all, it's you guys who are being threatened."

"So even if I kill him, it's okay?"

"Yes."

"Good, then we will search and question him. And if it turns out that he really is the author of the threatening letters, then I will show no mercy. Someone who threatens my husband and/or me will not get away with life."

"Good, since you are directly under us and have your pendants to prove it, I'm sure no one will stand in your way either. No one would dare to do that. Moreover, we will announce on the public network that Jan is wanted for questioning."

"Very good. Then nothing can go wrong." I said. I thanked Choi and we said goodbye.

I hugged Zhan tightly and said, "I won't let him hurt you! I will kill him!"

"I can fight too Yibo." Replied Zhan.

"I know my precious. But, I don't want you to fight."

"Why not?"

"Have you ever killed anyone?"

"No."

"And I want it to stay that way. I want you to keep that innocence."

"You're so sweet."

"From now on, when you and I go on a mission, you'll be the brains and I'll be your sword."

"But you're also super smart. You can be the brains too."

"But you're much smarter. I'm still learning what being a vampire and all that means. You, on the other hand, don't know any different. It's always been your life, it's how you grew up. Just like I did as an assassin. So I say from now on you're the brains and I'm your sword."

"Ah what more can I say to that?"

"Just, yes honey, that's how we do it."

"Okay. Yes honey. That's how we do it."

"ZhanZhan?"

"Yes?"

"What do you say we both go on a long trip soon?"

"A long trip?"

"Mhm. Just you and me. We could travel the world together. I've been to a few countries, but it's always been for work. I'd like to see more of the world, though."

"I'd love to. I had already traveled around the world. But I haven't seen everything I wanted to see. And with you, I would go everywhere."

"Then this is what we'll do. We'll find out if this Jan guy is really behind the threatening letters, and if he is, I'll take care of him. And after that, you and I will go on a trip."

"Mhm. I'm looking forward to it. But BoBo, first we should visit your parents again. I mean, while your dad still has days where he's clear-headed."

"True. And we should wait until my brother and Cheng make their relationship official."

"I heard earlier that your brother is going to accompany Cheng and his parents home to live with them for some time."

"Oh yeah?"

"Yes. My aunt said Cheng and your brother should live with them until they know if they want to spend their lives together."

"So whether they want to mate?"

"Exactly."

"Mhhh, I think my brother is really in love with Cheng. And so far he hasn't even asked when he can go back home or if he can go back home. Right now, it looks to me like he doesn't want to go."

"I think so. Cheng told me this morning that he really loves Hai Kuan and can imagine anything with him. And apparently your brother has already confessed his feelings to him."

But all that matters to me is that I can stay by your side forever."

"Somehow that's true. The day I saw you in the cave, I didn't want to go to the cave at all. I was tired and was going to bed when something seemed to blind me. And then a little while later I looked at the window of my room and again something seemed to blind me. Then I saw Father's dogs running to the small portal that leads into the cave. I got dressed and followed them into the cave. I heard footsteps and became curious. I hid in the darkness and then I saw you. And my heart almost jumped out of my chest."

"And I wanted to immediately trust you and your friendship without being able to explain it to myself. I never learned to trust and not make friends. And then you came into my life and I wanted you. I didn't understand it right away. But in retrospect, when I crawled out of that little opening of that tiny cave and saw you, I was already in love with you."

"You see BoBo, love does exist. And it feels good."

"Yes, absolutely."

For various reasons, I always told myself, love isn't real. I don't need love. And whatnot. And then Zhan came into my life and shook everything up. And from the moment I realized what I feel for Zhan, I couldn't and wouldn't give up that feeling either.

And I will protect my love with everything I have. Even if it is only my bare hands. No one will take away what I have now. Anyone who dares to try to take away what is so dear to me, I will mercilessly kill him!

Meng Yao and Su She have already experienced what I am ready for. And this Jan, will know it also soon!

But for now, I will go to the small town with my husband, my brother and Cheng. Today we want to celebrate together in the vampire bar. And tomorrow? Tomorrow, Zhan and I will then make the preparations before we go in search of this Jan! So, good night all you dear ghosts. We'll read each other again soon.
