After saying you are able to leave, head for Vermilion. There, you'll meet a young boat man who will admit that he always wanted to journey the world, but needed a worldly trainer to join him. Say that you'll consider it before heading off.

LT. Surge will not be hard. Only ground types will work on his pokemon; Raichu, Voltrob and Magnemite. In other words, hit until you win.

After that, walk around until you clash with Amber, who will now have a Vulpix to join her Eevee.

Once you get to Celadon, you'll be able to look around before you go face Erika.

Nothing special. Fire, Flying, Poison, Bug and Ice will work well. Otherwise, hit her team; Tangela, Vileplume and Bellossom; until victory.

Upon leaving the gym, you'll see a mysterious group of people. A guy in red will be tearing them down with a Pikachu before he spots you. He'll then disappear without a word.
