Todoroki x Reader x Bakugo : Through The Grasp Of His Hands (Angst-Fluff) - Part One
Married for three years and everything was falling apart... Would [Y/N]'s efforts turn things around, or would it lead to something else...?
He was late. Again. It had been months since the first time Todoroki began to act strangely, and his wife [Y/N] was concerned about his behavior. The man left their shared home early in the morning and came back late at night, and there were days the couple didn't even speak to each other. It had only been three years since they were married, but their relationship was fading faster than ever.
Scared for her domestic happiness, [Y/N] came up with a special date to 'heat up' their relationship. It was their anniversary, so the female - being the good wife she was - went all out to make her husband a tasty dinner. She spent her day off at home cleaning and shuffling around the kitchen to cook all the delicious dishes Shoto loved. It was guaranteed to be an amazing evening filled with cuddles and love, but after hours of waiting, [Y/N]'s hopes were crushed.
It was half-past midnight already, and Shoto Todoroki was nowhere to be seen. [Y/N] had tried to call him several times, but it all ended up being useless. The meals she cooked were cold and the flaming candles had melted into sap. Sitting in the darkness of the living room, the female had her knees curled up into her chest. The ironed dress she was wearing was crumbled since she kept pacing around the house fixing everything to make it look perfect. [Y/N] seemed just fine on the outside but inside, it was a raging storm. She kept asking herself: when did things start to go wrong? Was she not enough? Was her love for her husband not enough?
The sound of the front door opening drew [Y/N] away from her emotional storm as she rushed out to greet him, but the sight wasn't pretty at all. Todoroki's body reeked of alcohol and among the unbearable smell, [Y/N] could detect the faint smell of several strange perfumes mixing together. The man could barely stand straight, and his tie was messed up terribly. The female, broken-hearted because of her husband's pathetic statement dashed forward to help him stable himself.
"Babe, what's wrong? You're smashed!"
"You... were supposed to be sleeping..." - Todoroki choked out, his voice dry and raspy - "Why are you still up..."
"I was waiting for you. Come on, sit, and I'll get you some water."
Settling her husband down on the sofa, [Y/N] quickly turned around to enter the kitchen, her bottom lip quivering. She had a fair amount of guesses about what had happened, but she didn't want to believe any of them. With shaking hands, the [H/C]- haired girl poured water into a cup and reentered the living room just in time to hear her husband's conversation on the phone.
"...Yeah, I got it. It was great earlier. My wife's going to return soon, so I need to go. Of course. Love you."
As Todoroki pressed the 'End' button, the piercing sound of shattered glass echoed through the now empty house. The man looked up in complete surprise at the image of his wife standing with her head hung low, a puddle of water in front of her. A dangerous silence swept through the room before [Y/N] spoke up, her voice terrifyingly soft.
"Who was that, Shoto ?"
"Babe, please-" - Todoroki called out pleasingly, but got cut off short by the sight of his wife's emotionless eyes staring right straight at him. He grimaced and watched in horror as [Y/N] marched forward, pieces of broken glasses pierced into her skin. Yet she kept on walking without taking her eyes off her 'true love', leaving bloody trails on the floor, the female only stopped when she was inches apart from Todoroki, keeping him locked in place with her unwavering gaze.
"Don't you 'baby' me, Shoto Todoroki." - she edged, voice lacking any real anger like it should be, and it truly scared the male - "Who was that ?"
"...My girlfriend."
He regretted the word the moment it left his mouth. Todoroki squeezed his eyes shut and waited for a slap, but it never came. So - out of curiosity - the male peaked his turquoise eyes opened. His eye was across the room from him her elbows resting on the top of a drawer. Her body was still as a log, yet it radiated a dark, bone-chilling aura that could probably freeze up the stuffing and awkward air. Shoto understood that he had just dropped a huge bomb, nonetheless a bomb unacceptable by most people. Knowing the person that [Y/N] was, Todoroki knew that she wasn't open to the idea. He loved her, really, but something was missing. During their years in UA, [Y/N] was such a passionate full of personality. She never put up with anyone's shit and had this super fiery determination to be the very best. The [word that describes hair color] was always at the top, and maybe that was why Todoroki was so attracted to her. Their dating years in UA were heaven, so amazing that they were married at the age of twenty. Shoto expected them to be the best hero duo and have their pictures all over the news, but [Y/N] was adamant about laying low and be a good wife. Where was her passion, that fire? Todoroki couldn't feel it anymore. Maybe it was a pathetic excuse, but how could he stay at a place where it didn't feel like home anymore?
After a few minutes of complete stillness, Todoroki sucked in a deep breath and took a step forward before coming to a halting stop because of his wife. She - in a quick moment - had turned around and held his gaze with puffy, red yet dry eyes. In her chest, [Y/N]'s heart was throbbing, each beat as painful as the stabs of several knives. What did she do to deserve this? All she wanted was a happy family like many others, but perhaps even that small dream was unachievable. She wished to have never walked in onto her husband's conversation. If she didn't know, maybe [Y/N] could pretend to believe blindly in Shoto's so-called love. But the truth was in plain sight now, and the female was at her breaking point.
"How long has this been going on ?"
"...Two months." - Todoroki answered grimly, his guilt sinking in slowly - "But please, at least let me-"
"Get out."
The male eyes widened at his wife's out-of-character order. [Y/N], despite always being blunt and sassy - was never considered rude. She had enough sensibility to consider people's feelings and never hurt them, but the male wasn't in any position to ask for her kindness. In fact, he was lucky she didn't murder him on the spot.
"[Y/N], this is my home too." - Shoto replied, but after realizing how cocky that was, he added - "Can we... sit down and talk this through?"
"Talk? You cheated on ME and now you want to TALK ???" - The [word that describes hair color] hissed, the crazy fire rising in her orbs - "If you won't get out, that's fine. I will."
With that, the female stormed out of the room, the pain in her feet throbbing. The male stood there, completely frozen in shock until he snapped out of it and chased after his wife. But she had always been the faster of the two, so once he reached the bedroom, [Y/N] was already stuffing her clothes into a duffle bag. Her bloodied feet were dry, and she was taking all of her valuable possessions away. Todoroki's mind began to fog over with fear, as he could feel the much-dreaded end drawing close. He knew he messed up bad, and there wasn't a way out.
"Baby, stop!" - Shoto pleaded, his voice breaking slowly - "Just stay, please!"
"Get away. From. The. Door."
The [word that describes hair color] replied icily, venom lacing her words. The girl was a mess inside, her emotions swirling like a raging storm. Anger, sadness, betrayal, self-doubt,... all of them erupting, fueled the shocking news she'd just received. Wasn't she enough? Shoto was her everything, so why wasn't she his? Was [Y/N] that horrible, so unbearable that her husband felt the need to find another woman? A million questions were buzzing inside her head, and the female felt like she was going to explode. She needed to get out. It didn't matter where, as long as it wasn't here.
Knowing full well that Shoto wouldn't let her go without a fight, [Y/N] took in a shaky breath before pushing him out of the way and dashed downstairs to the front door. Todoroki, affected by his wife's push, was sent sprawled on the floor, but quickly got up and chased after the female like a wild dog. But he was too slow. By the time he reached the front doors [Y/N] had already driven away and into the night.
"Damn it... DAMN IT!" - Todoroki cursed loudly, his strained voice echoed through the empty street - "What did I do..."
He immediately pulled out his phone in hopes to be able to track down the car, but only let out a rather bitter laugh as he realized that she had turned off the GPS. He should have expected that, seeing how [Y/N] had always been stealthy. Todoroki stood in front of the door as if waiting for his wife to return, but after understanding that there was no way she would come back - at least not until tomorrow's morning - the male headed back inside and into the kitchen. Upon seeing the fancy meal [Y/N] made him, the male broke down. Tears streamed down Todoroki's cheeks as he leaned against the dining table for support, the bangs covering his eyes.
"What the fuck have I done..."
For a long while, the only sound was the painful chokes of Shoto's. Suddenly, in the middle of summer, the empty house seemed so very cold...
[...]
[Y/N] quietly pulled her car into a stop before resting her forehead on the wheel. She knew better than to drive while being mentally unstable, but the female needed to leave. But now, she had nowhere left to go. Her parents were long gone and somehow, [Y/N] didn't think that her father-in-law would be too happy if she suddenly showed up in the middle of the night complaining about his son. Not that he still treated Shoto like a pawn - no, Enji Todoroki had changed - but the man would be very disappointed in his son. Both the female and Shoto needed time for themselves, and the worst thing that could happen was to involve the parents.
But if she didn't go to Enji's household, [Y/N] had nowhere else to stay the night at. The Midoriya's had gone on holiday, Kirishima went on a mission, YaoMomo and her boyfriend Awase were planning for their wedding... Everyone was swimming in their own happiness, and there was no way they would let a poor, lonely soul ruin their day. As the [word that describes hair color] pulled out her phone to find nearby hotel, a name popped up in her mind. Katsuki did tell her to call him whenever and hell, she even added his number to the emergency contact list. It seemed logical to call him now, but it had been a while since [Y/N] last met the Pro. Was it five months ago, before Dynamight went on a mission? She wasn't sure anymore. It seemed uncalled for to just randomly ask the blond to let her spend the night at his place, but [L/N] had to try.
"...Katsuki's here, what's the fucking matter?"
[Y/N] almost cried at the sound of her best friend talking through the phone. The angry blond was one of the female's oldest friends, seeing how him, her and Izuku all went to the same kindergarten. [Y/N] was one of those selected people Bakugo considered his equal, let alone the only person who got labeled as his 'Ultra BFF'. After the [word that describe hair color]'s parents passed away, Mitsuki and Masaru had gently opened their arms and welcomed the girl into their family, afterwards treating her as their own. [Y/N] and Katsuki had always been together - every special moment of their lives marked with the company of the other. They were soulmates, the kind of soulmate that would lift you up no matter what. Despite his bratty and harsh facade, Bakugo was the best friend [Y/N] could ever ask for. Smiling fondly at the old memories that came rushing back, the female brought a hand up to her eye to wipe away the remaining tears before speaking up.
"Hey... Sorry if I woke you up, but are you in town right now...? I kinda need a place to stay for a while..."
"...That Icyhot fucker, what has he done?" - Bakugo asked with anger on the other side, and the female could hear her friend throwing his pillows aside - "You must be drained. I'll make you some shit to eat, so don't even dare to say that this is a goddamn prank call, you hear me?!?!"
With that, the blond ended the call. Sighing happily, [Y/N] turned on the engine, her heart less burdened than before...
[...]
Bakugo cursed loudly as he wrapped the jacket around his bare torso before heading towards the kitchen in order to make his unexpected guest a nice meal. The guy never truly supported his friend's marriage with Todoroki, but never once did he expected the female to call him at midnight asking for a place to stay. The last time he had a meetup with her, everything seemed to be fine, so what the hell happened? Throughout the years, Katsuki had learned that [Y/N] wasn't a damsel in distress. No, she was way too strong for that. There were times where the female was the only one who dared to stand up to him and knocked some sense into him (both mentally and physically), and Bakugo respected her deeply for that. In the blond's eyes, [Y/N] was beautiful funny, strong, sarcastic,...
And he loved her for that.
That's right, Katsuki Bakugo was in love with [Full Name]. Since the moment the blond saw his friend's impressive display during their first year's Sports Festival, he knew he was head-over-heels for her. But after a short moment of thinking, Bakugo realized that for all of his life, [Y/N] had always held the key to his heart. From the very first day he met her in kindergarten to the day she walked down the aisle in white, the female had always been the only person he wanted to spend forever with.
Nothing - absolutely nothing - could describe that painful jab in the heart when Mina told him that [Y/N] and Todoroki were dating. His mind seemed to fog over, the world around him stopped moving when he realized that his [Y/N] was now somebody else's. Why - just why - did he let the only person he ever loved slipped through his hands like she was water? He didn't accept that, but Bakugo couldn't bring himself to ruin his friend's happiness. Maybe he was jealous, but the blond didn't interfere with her relationship. Throughout the years, Katsuki stood on the sidelines, waiting patiently as [Y/N] and Todoroki marched together. In his heart of hearts, the male secretly hoped for his rival to screw up and give him the chance to butt in, but once the pretty pink envelope was delivered to his doorsteps, Bakugo's hopes were crushed. Still, he dedicated his heart to her, and since then never once he stopped loving the female from afar.
But now that Todoroki had made a mistake, it was time for Bakugo to step up his game. Years of repressed emotions were finally getting an opportunity to blow up, and the blond would be stupid if he let this one-time chance pass. Dynamight - the bravest hero this city had ever seen - wouldn't back down from any challenge, especially one as rewarding as this. Smiling idiotically to himself, Katsuki turned on the stove and began to make [Y/N]'s comfort food - [comfort food]. The blond was positive that the food would taste good, not because he was an amazing cook, but because it was made with passion. It didn't matter if she would run back to Icyhot in the morning, as long as tonight, she was his to take care of.
Just a few minutes after finishing the meal, Bakugo heard the sound of his doorbell echoing. Immediately, the blond put on his usual scowl and opened the door, but what he saw on the other side made his frown darken. The moment Katsuki's eyes met with [Y/N]'s, he suddenly had the urge to blast his way to half'n'half's house and beat up the only person inside. His [Y/N] looked horrible! The [word that describes hair color] - upon seeing her friend's irked face - smiled apologetically as she scratched her head.
"Sorry, Katsuki... I know it's late and all, but you're the only one available right now and-"
"Shut up and get in." - Bakugo grumbled, stepping aside so that the girl could enter - "You look like a zombie, go take a fucking bath. I had the guest room ready."
[Y/N] smiled gratefully at the blond before going in, but Katsuki only frowned. His eyes quickly noticed the strange way his friend was walking before darting down to her feet; his irritated face only grew when he saw the fresh, opened wound. Fast as lightning, Bakugo grabbed [L/N]'s wrist and pulled her over to the first aid kit.
"Mind telling me what got you here, dumbass ?" - the blond asked as he knelt down and carefully inspected her feet - "Whatever shit happened, this is a pretty nasty cut..."
"At least feed me before the interrogation- Hey, watch it !" - [Y/N] hissed as Bakugo pulled out the shards of glass. Her feet instinctively kicked up, missing the guy's face only by an inch. The blond cursed loudly as he dodged the attack, opening a lid of a small box as he did so.
"For gods sake, woman! You're trying to knock me out or somethin'?!" - he asked angrily, wiping a portion of the solution in the box onto his fingers before applying it to the wound - "This is a new kind of supplement, heals immediately. Gonna sting, so beware."
The female huffed as the cold liquid hit her skin. The wound began to burn up for a brief moment before stitching itself back. [Y/N] watched in amazement as the cut healed, taking a glance towards Bakugo who was wearing a cocky yet infuriatingly handsome grin on his face. At that moment, the [word that describes hair color] felt truly grateful towards her friend. Katsuki had always been so considerate and understanding towards her, and there were times when the blond acted like [Y/N]'s pillar, listening to all of her problems without complaining. There wasn't a single moment where Bakugo left the female in her dark thoughts, as he loved her and couldn't bear the thought of leaving her alone. Of course [Y/N] didn't know that, or else she would have been with him already.
"Go take a bath." - Bakugo ordered after making sure that the [word that describes hair color]'s feet were fine - "I'll bring you food. After that, you better tell me every goddamn detail, got it?"
"Yeah, I get it. Don't burn the food like last time though!"
[Y/N] replied sarcastically as she walked towards the guest room, her previous pain easing. Being with Katsuki had always been the the best way to relieve stress, it was like taking a very strong dose of painkiller. Maybe it would end in a few hours, but the female couldn't care less. Maybe her strong and sarcastic facade was shielding away countless scars, and Bakugo was the only one who could tell how shaky his friend's walls were. The blond's eyes trailed after [Y/N]'s figure until she disappeared behind the closed door; only then he allowed himself to sigh. Never once he saw the [word that describes hair color] so broken, and he was both pissed and sorry. He was pissed because he couldn't blast off Icyhot's face for hurting his love, and sorry because if it was him, [Y/N] would never suffer like she was. Bakugo understood that the female should be treated like the queen she was, and half'n'half had no idea what he had done.
Taking a portion of [Comfort Food], the blond went to the bedroom. The rustling sound of water on the other side of the door informed him that [Y/N] was already in the bathroom and he could go in without knocking. Going inside, Bakugo flicked the switch on the wall, lightening the room. The bag which the [word that describes hair color] brought was threw carelessly on the bed, some of the clothes spilling out of it. Grumbling, Katsuki put down the food and began to fix the bed by fluffing up the pillows and reorganizing the sheets. He even went as far as lighting up some aromatic candles that he knew the girl loved. As soon as he was finished, the bathroom door cracked opened to reveal the [word that describes hair color] in her pyjamas. [Y/N] took in a deep, satisfied breath at the comforting smell before sitting down on the bed beside Bakugo.
"This smells incredible Katsuki. Did you make it?"
"Fuck yeah." - The blond replied pridefully - "Try it, dumbass."
The female took a huge bite before her face confronted into pure bliss. It had been a while since [Y/N] had a homemade meal that wasn't made by her, and the feeling was nice. It was the feeling of getting taken care of, a feeling so foreign to her for the last few years. Shoto was always busy, so it was already hard for the duel-quirk user to just stay at home. Besides, his cooking was inedible, so it was always [L/N] who did the cooking. It was great knowing that someone out there still cared, especially after the news she'd just received.
"So? How is it?"
"Amazing." - [Y/N] replied as she stuffed her face with more food - "Who are you trying to impress?"
'You' - was what Bakugo wanted to say, but he restrained himself from doing so and simply watched as the female feasted on the meal. His friend - the blond thought - was truly beautiful. It wasn't just the outside, but the inside too. Katsuki understood that [Y/N] wasn't the most confident when it came to her looks, but her personalities definitely belonged to a hero. [Y/N] was the strongest, kindest and most admirable person he had ever met and hell, she could easily overtake All Might on the scale of heroism. The girl could effortlessly kick Deku and his damn One For All away from the current rank as the No.1 Hero and took it for herself but instead she settled for being a housewife to tend to her husband. If that wasn't inspiring, then Katsuki had no idea what was.
After a while, Bakugo realized that [Y/N] had been slowing down in her eating. It didn't take the guy long to figure out why, and he began to sigh internally. His friend had always been secretive when it came to her wounds, both mentally and physically. There were times where the blond knocked on the girl's dorm room - way back when they were at Yueei - just to find that she was tending to the wounds she received from the previous fights. There was also the time when [Y/N] kept the news about her parents a secret and not until three months later - when Bakugo overheard the female talking to Aizawa-sensei - the information was leaked. The blond wanted for her to open up by herself, but this time he needed to force the girl. Stealing the bowl away from his friend's grasp, Katsuki settled it aside before wrapping a comforting arm around [Y/N].
"I know you're delaying the goddamn pain. Just fucking let it out and talk to me dumbass."
It was the last straw. The female immediately slumped, her face buried in her palms as she sobbed uncontrollably. She then began to spill everything that had happened since the day they last met, and absolutely everything at that. Not a single detail was left out as [Y/N] began to describe - in the most colorful words ever - about how useless and pathetic she felt knowing that she was no longer the number one in Todoroki's heart. Throughout the whole ordeal, Bakugo managed to keep a calm face but inside, he was using his very last bits of restraints to hold back from murdering Icyhot. How could that little fucker treat his queen like that? His [Y/N] was the absolute best, and Bakugo wasn't going to let anyone get away with hurting her. After crying her heart out, [Y/N] hiccuped and rubbed her eyes, feeling extremely ashamed that she had broke down in front of someone she wanted to stay strong for.
"Sorry Katsuki, I didn't mean to ruin your shirt..."
"Stop apologizing dumbass. You and damn Deku both." - the blond huffed as he patted the female's shoulders and lowered her down to the bed - "My shirt's fine. Now get some rest."
"...Thank you."
[Y/N] said softly as she closed her eyes, sleep took over her faster than ever. The warmth she should've felt in her husband's presence was now found in Katsuki's, and it was a foreign yet familiar feeling. Bakugo sat down next to the [word that describes hair color] in silence and after making sure that the girl was deep asleep, he crouched down and left a soft kiss on her forehead.
"Sleep tight, dummy. I love you."
He whispered before leaving the room, closing the door with a soft click.
