AaaaAaAAAaaa! I'm so pumped!

Destiny Calls

Chapter 13

"Just cause you are breathing, doesn't mean you are alive"

-Day ???-

He was floating. Floating through the darkness. Floating on and on, continuously in a direction he could not tell. Why couldn't the void destroy him too? Why couldn't his existence have been destroyed.

He didn't know how long it has been. There is no sense of time here, or at least it never seemed like it.

He'd given up, he'd lost. And Jin, yes Jin. The man in the purple sweater, he remembered his name after he recovered his memories. But Jin had won, and he still had so many questions.

Why was Jin like this? His memories of him were different.

The name of the woman was Wither, or at least that is what she had called herself when they first met, so who was she?

What did Alista mean by candidate?

So many question, none of them would be answered.

To Max, it was almost like he wasn't even alive, just living an eternity in nothing. Mindlessly floating. Floating.

Floating..

Floating...

Max had given up. He'd lost and here he would rot for an eternity. He already checked, the curse on him was gone. No more dark marks running up his arms, he was free in that regard. But he'd lost everything else.

He wish he had a power that could help him save Red and Barney, and Ross; if only he could bring him back...

'The Chronos Void.'

What? Where did that come from? Was it him that thought of that, or did the idea come from nothing.

'One of the purest forms of magic, a god killing sword!'

These words. He's heard them before. But who--Alista. She had said these things, but what did it prove? And why was he thinking about what she said now?

'It's in the darkest reaches of the realm itself.'

The darkest reaches.

The darkest reaches...

The void!

Max knew that nothing was darker or emptier. This was a place of pure darkness, as said by the woman--the Wither herself.

Oh what was he even saying, he was grasping at strings. He would never find that sword. He was in a never ending abyss of nothing, there was no space nor their any direction. He was never going to find that sword.

So you've returned, young one.

Max looked around for the maker of that voice, "Wh-who are you!"

I am (we are) Nol

To Max it sounded like a layering of voices. While one said 'I am' another said 'we are' Their voices were like metal clanging, it was all around him, ringing, booming, yet subtle.

"Nol?"

The void is Nol. Nol is I (us).

Max hardly understood what was going on, he just wanted to be left alone.

I am (we are) the void. Nol is (we are) the oldest being alive. Or am I (are we) even alive?

This was crazy! Max wanted to shout, he was going crazy. This was just some voice in his head, it didn't exist. Much like gods, they didn't exist.

Can you really say that?

"What?" Max looked up, even though there was nothing to look up too.

Can you really say the gods don't exist when you met one (saw one)? The Wither.

She wasn't a god or goddess or whatever. She wasn't in the books, no one has heard of her! With all his memories back, he remembered the schooling he did have before falling into the void the first time.

There are four gods, young one (small one). You've met one, befriended the daughter of another--

"W-W-Wait! H-hold up! Are you talking about Alista in the last one? We aren't friends, I'm sure she positively hates my guts. And even if the gods do exist, what of it?

Your fate does not lie here (your destiny continues on). But are you willing (determined) to fight (to persevere)?

"If I could I would!" Max shouted, this conversation was going no where. Of course, he was crazy, this voice was a figment of his imagination, in this never ending blank void.

This void (our home) wasn't always empty (void of life).

Max perked up for a moment.

Perhaps a story is in order? (Indeed, a story)

A world that was upside down in comparison to Max's home, but a mirror image of his home, or what his home would've looked like millions of years ago, before anything existed there.

There was a sun, there was a sky, an ocean, clouds. The void was exactly like the overworld in every shape and form.

Nol, was the being who created the world, or the void. I was (we were) the caretaker, the one who watched over my (our) home. I (we) controlled life and death, (fate and destiny). I was neither good nor bad, (we were everything yet nothing). We simply existed.

Humans lived and prospered in this world.

(They prospered in our home)

Several thousand years later two humans were born. Unlike the rest, they were very peculiar. (Yes very).

Their names.

(Notch and Hero)

They were curious, always exploring, always helping. They were noble in heart and mind, one cared deeply for life. He worked to help the living, and the sick, he had a gentle touch. His brother was neutral in that regard.

(But he dealt respect to the deceased. Everything that died was a special being that needed respect to carry on. He built shrines and temples, a place of rest for the dead. And when someone in his brother's care passed on, he moved them there to rest).

As Nol, we watched over the void (cared for the void) but we were tired (an eternity of service to the living and the dead).

It was then, we decided, (the humans needed gods), ones that they could believe in, (ones that they knew existed).

The humans have never known of our existence, and even now, likely never will.

We approached the two odd and peculiar humans, and much like what we are doing now Max, we spoke to them. We gave them the choice to take up after us. (As life and death).

They agreed and soon they never aged, they were immortal. Our role as caretaker of the living and of the dead was over, (but we still controlled fate and destiny). We still had too much, but there was no one worthy...

(Thirty thousand years passed. Notch had gone and made new life, more than just humans. And Hero who could see the souls of the dead, created a being to watch over them. With the help of his brother of course, since Hero could not create, he could only destroy.)

Notch created the first and only dragon, and Hero created what he called the Wither. Two beings with long lives, and large strength.

(We saw more potential in them).

We were still tired.

(We chose them to take up after us).

We were hasty.

(We should've waited until they matured fully).

We should've waited several thousand more years, instead of only 70,000.

(We gave the dragon our powers of fate, and the Wither the power of destiny).

They were too young.

(Their long lives, we realized, would not be very long).

They would not be gods of immortality like their creators, but ones of reincarnation. They would live, then die, then be reborn again. A never ending cycle.

(It was then, the dragon made a mistake. He did not realize, it was not his fault).

A sword that was to heavy to be wielded, but was as light as a feather. He found it. (Our first creation). The Khora Void. And the Wither, they were there with him. They were there when our second creation was found. A sword to hot to touch, but was as cool as ice. (The Chronos Void).

The Khora Void instantly connected with the dragon, (but we could not stop him). When he lifted that sword from it's resting place in the ground, all was already lost.

The ground broke away. (Everything was shattering, crumbling, turning to dust.) He had pulled the Khora Void from the only place that balanced the matter of this unstable world. Unlike your home, this world is to unstable and needed strong forces to balance them.

(He watched as everything his brothers had created was being destroyed, turned to dust. As lives were lost and the sky darkened, it was too late. The gods could fly, but they could not save a single life.)

The dragon, struck with grief of the fate of his home, changed his name. He called himself
(the EnderDragon). For with a single motion, he had ended everything. (Nothing could survive in this void any longer, and nothing could fix it.

The Wither, who was with the EnderDragon at the time almost made the same mistake. They saw the Chronos Void, (they reached for it), but then the ground broke away, (they faltered) and watched it fall from their grasp (disappearing into the darkness).

The Enderdragon mourned the loss of his home, of the lives he had unwillingly ended. Notch and Hero however did not give up. They've lived for centuries as gods, and though the Ender and the Wither were still new, they did not understand what it meant.

(There was still hope. On the other side of the bedrock barrier was a stable world. A world where our swords weren't needed to preserve the foundation of time and space. That world was the mirror image of this world, the only difference. Life did not truly exist.)

They left for that world, and the first human of that world was born. (Steve).

And I was (we were) left here. We can not leave. (I am the caretaker). We are Nol. (Nol is the void, and the void is Nol).

Everything that lives is consumed by this unstable world. (Only special humans like you and the gods can survive down here).

Max 'sat' shell-shocked at everything he had heard. Actually, what had he heard. None of this was real... Gods were just figments of a person's creation. A being made to hold the ideals of another person... They couldn't really exist, could they?

I (we) have heard much about you. (Ender has spoken briefly about you and many others...)

Others? Max thought to himself. Wait, "Why does Alista have the Khora Void if it belongs to this Ender fellow?"

The EnderDragon passed his sword down to his daughter, and in your world, the Enderdragon is known as the Nyx, is he not?

"They're are the same?"

Only one dragon was ever born--

"One? That doesn't make sense, he has a daug--"

(Our time with you is running out. You mustn't stay here any longer...)

"W-wait!" Max felt like the voices were leaving him, even if they were just a figment of his imagination, they were the only things he had here in this wor--

Max saw something in the distance. Like a pinprick of light, Max stared at it. He wasn't sure if he was moving to it or was it moving to him, perhaps both. But as it neared, he saw what it was. A brilliant golden sword that shined brighter than the sun, or at least in this darkness, it was the sun to him.

Our second creation. (The Chronos Void) With it you can turn back time and turn time forward. (Much like the EnderDragon, you must make a deal). After the Ender removed the sword and the world crumbled I (we) made a deal with him so he could continue using the sword. (A deal even his successor of the sword follows)

Max reached for the sword, he felt intense heat from it, it was almost scorching.

If you touch that sword, you will be its wielder, no one else, unless you willingly pass down the sword to them. (But the price you must pay is your dreams. Each time you close your eyes and you fall asleep, your greatest fear with consume your nights). You will have no peaceful rest. (No time of happy dreams). Only nightmares.

Max flinched.

(Do you agree?) Are you prepared? (There is no turning back if you take that sword). If you take it, you will be able to travel back and forward in time. And when you take it, time will cease to exist for me (us). And this void...(will truly be void of anything and everything).

Max didn't know what to do. Should he grab the sword. If he did, he could go back. Back before Ross was killed. He could stop Jin. He could stop the Wither.

His life was his and his alone.

Max reached for the sword. The heat was unbearable. The golden light was strong and getting stronger. He had to squint, and sweat was dripping down his face. His fingers felt air, they brushed the form of a handle, and then his fingers closed around it. Max had to close his eyes as the light was blinding. The heat had cooled to nothing, and Max found this sword, though slightly heavy to hold, was not as hot as he thought.

He brought the golden blade closer, his fingers ran over the surface. It was so smooth and perfect. It was so warm to hold but cool at the same time. It was like the sword radiated with life, but it wasn't alive.

Go. (Go).

Max looked up.

(Time is slowing down). You must not be here when it does, you will live but time will no longer be a concept here. (You may not return to your correct time if you do not hurry).

Max nodded, "Thank you."

He looked at the sword and gripped it firmly in his hands. He did not know how to use it, but Alista used hers with hardly any effort. So it shouldn't be that hard.

He hoped and prayed that this would work. He closed his eyes. He thought in his head, he wanted, no needed to go back. Go back to that day. He needed to go back to the 20th of Aeth, and return to that very moment he met Jin.

Please.

Please!

PLEASE!

Oh boy. That was cool, right? You learned the true history of the void! And originally, that was not planned, but oh well. Who says everything follows the plans, because I certainly stray from my plans plenty of times!

One more chapter guys, and then afterwards stay tuned for a very important thank you and other messages concerning what happens next and stuff! :D
