Midnight bolted out of the forest as fast as he could. Tears nagged his vision as he tried not to run into any obstacles in his way. He was devastated of his trainer's terrible death, as the image kept haunting him like a ghost. He was gasping for air as he wanted to take a break so much, but he just couldn't do it. He didn't know if the Escavalier was at hot pursuit to finding him, but Midnight held back the urge to stop and look behind him.

After a few minutes, he ran out of the creepy woods. However, he still didn't stop running until he tripped on a rock and collapsed to the ground as he tried to catch his breath.

"W-where am I?!" He said as he looked around at his surroundings. He saw that he was now in a town.

"I-is this it? Am I in Lavender Town?" Midnight asked himself as he slowly got to his feet.

He was surprised to find out that he was right, but he was upset that his trainer didn't make it with him. Tears brimmed down his cheeks as he couldn't erase the memory of his trainer's death from his mind.

"Why couldn't it have been me?!" He looked up to the dark sky. It was getting dark.

"I better look for some shelter, I am definitely not going to rest here for tonight, especially for what other dark creatures lurk in the forest at night." Midnight stated.

Midnight walked around aimlessly as he looked for shelter. As he did, he heard a bush rustle coming from the left of him. He saw two purple eyes and a red gem peaking out of the bush. As he froze in complete terror as the creature jumped out of the bush and attacked him with a Dazzling Gleam. 

Midnight uses a shadow ball to counter the attack. He knew at that moment that the creature was a Pokemon called Espeon. The Espeon jumps on top of him as Midnight struggles to move. The Espeon charges another Dazzling gleam; Midnight uses another shadow ball to defend himself. It was a direct hit as the Espeon collapses to the ground.

She wasn't moving as Midnight slowly walks towards her, thinking she was dead. He had a better look of her as he sees that  half of her forked tail was missing and her right purple ear had a missing tip. Her gem had a small crack in it that's only noticeable up close.  He trembled at her appearance as he began to wonder what attacked her and left those injuries. He saw a sparkly purple collar around her neck that made him know that she had a trainer of her own, but her trainer didn't seem to be anywhere. 

He nudged her and as he did, her eyes shot open and she tackled him to the ground.

"Who are you?! Are you one of them?!" She asked.

"I-I'm Midnight" he introduced himself. He looked at her confused. "Who are you talking about?" 

"The corrupted" she answered. 

"Who are the corrupted?" Midnight asked.

"The ones who aren't acting like themselves. They killed my trainer, Danielle, and they attacked me" the Espeon explained.

"Well that explains your injuries. I knew you had a trainer from the collar you are wearing as well. My trainer may have also been killed by one of the corrupted you are talking about" Midnight stated.

"You had a trainer who was killed as well?" the Espeon asked.

"Yes" he replied sullenly.

"Oh... I'm sorry that I attacked you. I didn't know that you weren't corrupted. Your eyes look normal, I should have looked at them before I attacked you. You can tell that they are corrupted or not by their eyes" the Espeon responded as she looked into Midnight's eyes.

"Tell me something I don't know" he thought.

"Um... Would you get off me please" Midnight told her.

"Huh?" she asked confused as she came to a realization. She was still on top of him. "Oh sorry" she apologized as she got off him, so he could stand back up.

"What did you say your name was?" the Espeon responded.

                                "I'm Midnight, what s your name?" Midnight said.

 "It's nice to meet you, Midnight, I'm Minerva" Minerva responded. "Do you have a place to rest for the night? It's not safe to be out here alone in Lavender Town." 

"No, I don't... I was going to visit here with my trainer to go to the Pokemon Tower, but he's..." he stopped. He didn't want to talk anymore as he looked down at the ground sullenly.

"I wouldn't go in that tower if I were you. No matter if it is with your trainer or not, it is too dangerous. Come on... I know a place we can rest for the night. Follow me" Minerva responded. He ran post-haste with Minerva by his side.
