Introduction to a New World
In between the cracks of both space and time, there thrived a world with no particular name other than “The Rift”, named so by the very creatures that inhabited it. For many years, back and back and back, the humble people of this world lived in peace and prosperity. With little to no knowledge of lands and times different from their own, these seemingly strange people went about their lives in harmony. But after so many eons of living in the shadowed corner of the universe, disaster had found its way through the barriers that so did prot cut them. The disaster was man, and though they looked, talked and moved much like the humble natives, they're ambitions were crooked as the teeth of a ferocious beast in hiding.
One by one, then hundreds by hundreds, men invaded and liberated the land with blood lust and greed. Burning their way through the vast forests, crossing the clearest of streams and demolishing the homes of so many innocent people, the great force had come to the very heart of The Rift.
Engulfed by frustration and blinded by man made revenge, many of the natives began to rebel against these actions. Both men and women took up arms of all they had and began incredulously attacking those from the outside regardless of their intentions. Blood was spilled by the gallons and land was taken and regained by the miles, and both groups sunk lower and lower into guilt and war by the day. Little did either side realize that by disturbing the natural order of things, both would be responsible for awakening the sleeping giant of the west edge. The mages of The Rift. A small but frightfully powerful community of those blessed and also cursed with mystic abilities.
Appalled at the actions caused by such madness and violence, the mages became enraged and acquired responsibility for ending the needless death and struggle in the lands. After exactly nine months of talk and pondering, the mages had finally decided upon the fate of all.
They sent their most fearsome and cunning leader, Osiris, to rally the citizens and men together for one last time and then separate them forevermore. And so from the sky, a great bolt of lightening struck the very ground upon which both were fighting. A most monstrous chasm formed and split the land from the sea to the mountains. As both men and natives looked on in horror and astonishment, Osiris one again struck the earth. However, the second time nothing was destroyed but two things were built. The wall of the north and the wall of the south. The Rift now stood divided.
After the dust and smoke settled and everyone grew quiet, Osiris spoke.
“Wall not in self pity for this is the doing of those who doubt themselves and are incapable handling their own affairs with dignity. You've left scars upon the land and laid harm to those undeserving of it. This wall with forever stand strong until the day my grandchild, of both mage and native descent marries that of a pure human. Only their unity shall bring down this mighty wall and bring both races together once more. Until this day, let it be set in stone that natives shall inhabit the mountainous northern valleys and the humans shall live upon the shores and plains of the south.”
From the moment these words were spoken, both natives and humans alike split far to the edges of their territory and built kingdoms of their own. The fire had depleted, homes had been rebuilt and for the first time in a long time, silence fell upon The Rift.
