Part Sixteen: Invitation

Something tells me this doesn't involve Adrienette that much. But oh well, it has lots of crisis. Hope you liked it.

After class, Marinette walked down stairs being followed by Adrien. Both of them stayed silent as they crossed the highway, Abigail and the Guardians are nowhere to be found

They were alone. Alone in the highway, Adrien was wondering if Marinette was fine. She's been too quiet lately, is she still bothered about that incident? While in Marinette's side, she was feeling somber as usual. Too many problems that she can't handle by herself.

"Marie, are you--" Adrien was cutted off by a gigantic portal swallowing them whole. They were transported into a place where everything was almost white, one thing for sure was that it had a large sum of clearance. It was taller than any building in France, ancient writings were adorned on the walls vertically.

"I apologize for the crude greeting. Welcome to the Chamber of Darkness, Twin Hearts Miraculous. A place where no Miraculous holder could live without a higher amount of power. This is the bottomest layer of the Guardian Council's Headquarters. No human in existence could stand being in here 'cause it's too deep, in fact, they'd be unable to breathe."

They turned to see Jarell, sitting on a transparent glass-made spiral staircases with his legs crossed. "I've longed to meet you two. Though, it could be understood that this won't be longer than I'll hope it'll be."

"V-Veron? Wait, you know?" Marinette's eyes widen, she cowered back. Adrien took stance, he stepped ahead of her, protecting her.

"Tell us why you brought us here." Adrien brisked. This wasmt entertaining for him, unlike what Jarell thinks. Jarell still played that calm smile, but turned to a vicious one.

"Huuuh? Wanna know?" He chortled, "oh who am I kidding? You already asked that. I brought you here because I wanted to see the very Twin Hearts myself. And I must say, I'm impressed to see you two together. You really are fitted to be a couple."

"Sorry it took so long," he tilted his head in a diabolical way. "I couldn't find the right time to invite you.. well, let's get this started then!" He lunged at Adrien by a pounce. He created a ball of green and blue light but transformed into a beam when Jarell shot it, prompting it to approach Adrien.

Luckily, he was pushed away by Marinette. "What are you doing?! Can't you see that he's defenseless?!" She snapped at Jarell.

Jarell tilted his head, "why, I was just testing him. I need to make sure he really is the Calamity King that Mother was expecting." Marinette's eyes widen, so did Adrien's. They were both stunned.

"Mother?" Jarell was telling the truth. He is the son of Adele and Mizel, his hair was all turqouise blue. No inheritence from his parents all, regardless, he did have pale complexion from both parents but his attitude was indeed dementing.

"This is..Adele and Mizel's son?" Marinette's voice was weak, she felt afraid.

Afraid of Jarell, though, Jarell was enjoying Marinette's affrightened state. That's one of his traits that makes him a monster. "Just say you know, I'm not adopted or anything. I'm really their son, Jarell Divell. Nonetheless, I'd hate hearing people mention their names. It makes me furious."

"No way.. their son couldn't be bad!"

"Don't believe me? Then don't." Jarell shrugged, "what type of advantage would I get anyway? I don't need anything from you at all, I just need to see whether if you're indeed strong."

"I like combat, I like chaos. It entertains me and that means I'm not letting you go," he summoned a pair of pistol guns. "Now, let your superior take a good look at you two~" he shot bullets at the couple, Marinette gasped. Adrien had no choice but to embrace Marinette, defending her and using himself as a shield instead.

But unfortunately, scaled tentacles slashes the bullets away. "What the.." Jarell frowned, he examined the area. "Who goes there?!"

He heard a quiet sigh, "would it kill you to be more warmer to your subordinates?" Dante appeared from above, he was sliding down from the walls with his arms made out of blue metaloids. It was scaled, once his arm reverted back to normal, he was wearing azure sharp and scaled gauntlets. He was wearing a navy blue robe with a ulster cape, wearing a black military hat with blue linings. He wore a azure scaled mask, his eyes shading blue and green.

"Dante Gevell Moreau - Twelve Heavenly Commanders' Azure Dragon - the second Commander." (Note: Second Commander is the other term for the second-ranked or strongest Heavenly Commander of the Guardian Council. Something like that :3 sorry for interrupting, I'll go on!) Dante sighed as he pushed himself to Jarell with brute force, "let's finish this already.." as he pounced at Jarell, his gauntlet's sharp fingers became sharper as they outstretched.

"And I suppose you have an alibi of why you're here and not with your dear partner?" Jarell tilted his head, suddenly interested in Dante.

"None of your concern. I'm taking you down right now even if it means losing my life,"

Dante began to slash Jarell with his extended-arms. "All that seems..ridiculous and dumb are truly pathetic, right?" Jarell teased as he blocked Dante's attack by a barrier of replusion. "Hey, are you sure you want to fight me?"

"Yes," Dante was unfazed by that, "protecting others isn't a pathetic and dumb thing once you come to your senses." He repeated in slashing the barrier but nothing worked. His gauntlets reverted back to normal, it's sharp tips shortened.

"Give me a break, Dante Moreau." Jarell summoned a serpent made out of roots, the Twin Hearts were indeed shocked.

Dante just stared at it in an unfazed way, he shredded the serpent in asunder by just one slash. "Oh please.. do you really think a thing like that could beat me?"

"Oh no, no. Why would I think something like that?" Jarell grinned diabolically, "I'm sure you thought it was just only one.. well, tough luck!" Thousands of serpents appeared around Dante, "well? What are you gonna do now, huh?"

The serpents screeched in a reverberant sound, Dante looked up at them in a steer manner. He sighed, "Earth." A large ring of golden light surrounded all of them, "Fire." Fire began to engulf and burn them, "Land." Spikes of thorns stabbed them all, "Water, Air, Ice, Snow, Lava." Beams if light began to stab them and reuniting, forming a large star. "All of these symbols represent a cycle where no power is ultimate but exists in balance that dictates what can erase it, that's the balance principal of every element. Meaning however indestructable something can be a method exists to, instead, neutralize it. Everyone has a weakness and a way to beat something or someone."

"Miraculous Guardian Crest." All of the serpents were tattered in asunder, Dante played a serious face. "How about that?"

"Oh please, that's the Twelve Guardian's special power. Every Guardian has mastered that technique," Jarell fired his gun at him, smiling. "Well? Aren't you going to attack? Aren't going to kill me?"

"Why would I do something so murderous?"

"It's because it's what you were borned to be, and you question yourself. Am I white? Am I black?" Dante furrowed his brows in confusion, slightly getting angry bit by bit. "It's black into white, right? The dark ones are always the ones who'll suffer. No, it's the good ones. The dark ones are the ones who'll be seduced by weaklings--"

He tromped his foot on the ground vibrantly, prompting a death wave to pass. "Better shut that crappy mouth of yours, you one-heck-of-a flaunty lunatic." Dante grumbled with his raspy voice, now an angry and raspy on in fact. Never thought someone calm-looking like Dante would use vulgar words. Marinette thought, was he like this back then?

The ground merely reverberated as the mists passed through the Twin Hearts and Jarell. The husband embraced the wife tight as he defended her, letting him be the one consuming the death mists. Marinette noticed Adrien cringing in pain as she watched him ache himself. She felt really bad for the both of them.

Why does he need to protect her even though if he hated her? Marinette reluctantly continued to stare at him. Jarell, who didn't have any affects or whatsoever. Guess he's immune to stuff like poison or death waves, though, he knew Dante only did that to stop him from talking.

"I must say, Dante Moreau, you have improved yourself. Tell me, how could you forget? How could you forget every sin you've done back then? Don't you know how much people suffered and sacrificed themselves because of you?" Dante jerked his head down as the cold air russled his hair over his eyes. "Now~! Now~! Let's see if you still have that darkness in yooouuu~!"

Jarell shot a large beam at him, but Dante abruptly consumed all of that beam by a palm. A menacing and severe look steered over his eyes and mask, "that's it.. I can't take it anymore..!" He raised his head and palm, a ball of blue fire engulfed his whole hand. "I'm going to kill you..!"

As the ball of fire began to amplify, he shot it at Jarell. Who eventually blocked it by a wall of thick and solid ice, "my ice is pretty strong. It'll take a while for you to take it down, Azure Dragon.."

"Die, bastard..!" Dante shot a beam of fire at the wall, but it was no use. It's almost indestructable. His forearms began to engulf by his flames, he slashed them at the wall as if they were whips.

Smoke shrouded the area, Adrien held Marinette tighter as he watched Dante becoming more destructive. "This guy..really is a Guardian! But he's too strong!" He murmured as he buried Marinette in his chest. "The destructive and most chaotic of the Guardians.. Marinette, stay hidden! Dante's out of control!"

"Yeah.. I can see that," Marinette kept blushing as she was tucked in. "Call..Abigail and the others. He needs to calm down!"

"I can't..! It's too hot!" Adrien continued to hiss in pain as he felt Dante's fire overflowing around the room.

"Die! Die! Die!" Dante shot fire balls at Jarell but he kept dodging them, back-flipping and moonassulting in every attack. "Why, can't you just die..?!"

"Hmm, maybe it's because I'm immortal or maybe it's God's punishment for all of my sins. People who're vulgar are often the ones living the longest while the kind ones are often the ones who suffer in this ugly reality." Jarell thrusted the fire balls away with his muskets, "I've lived longer than you, far more wiser than you are currently.."

"You annoy me. Die, you oaf..!" Dante continued whipping Jarell once more, but Jarell thoroughly dodged the beams of fire. "Dammit, quit flailing around..!" His bolo tie's turquoise polished stone with a stoned-dragon from inside glimmered bluer as he said, "Spiritual Dragon Coil..!"

This was his special ability. A silver blue large dragon rised up behind Dante, "Rox, attack!" He commanded as the dragon screeched and began lunging at Jarell like what his master commanded.

Rox, Dante's dragon tried biting his target but he kept slashing out waves of force that pushed Rox everytime. Roux rised and became bigger, he burned almost every part of the chamber except the Twin Hearts.

As he splurged himself out of control, the blue flames that came out of his breath chased after Jarell. Unfortunately, he created a barrier of purple aura, "hmm, this is Rox, huh? The Rising Frost Dragon, are you damn kidding me? The Rox you allied with is supposedly formidable enough to justify its title of a Guardian's pet. You should train him more. It's been fun beating you up and seeing your true strength, but I've had enough.." he summoned his rifles and aimed them at Dante.

"No. Not yet.. not done.." Dante released more blue flames, almost burning down the whole sector. 'Till he fainted and carelessly thumped down to the ground in a prostrated position as a man with a steson hat was behind Dante as he fell.

He chortled, "oh Dante, you're so careless now, huh?" He joisted his visor showing Réne Rousseau. He knocked out Dante with just a chop at the back, Rox shrinked into a medium-sized snake and glided down to his unconscious master.

Adrienette stared at Réne in a shock. Jarell frowned in disapproval, "Réne Jekylland Rousseau - Black Swan of the current Guardian Council - and the seventh-ranked Guardian, correct? You're our new Physics teacher, I can't believe how dumb you are, Seventh Commander. Who are you to loister around anyway? I don't care if whether you're a Guardian or not--"

"Hey you.. yeah, you.." Réne ignored Jarell, "you're a monster, aren't you?" (The battle of the sadists has begun!) He outstretched strings from his gloves as he jutted his tounge out in the most annoying way, "Monster, you amaze me.." (Hit it! We might've fucked not really sure 🎵don't quite recall🎵But something tells me that I've seen him🎵 yeah🎵 that boy is a monster🎵 M-M-M-Monster🎵 That boy is a monster🎵 M-M-M-Monster🎵 That boy is a monster🎵 Er-er-er-er🎵) "let's fight, Aaron Lespaul."

"That's not my name." Jarell grown a brief irk mark from his head. "Black Swan, What's your main reason in coming over here? To save the Twin Hearts or Dante Moreau?" He tilted his head as he furrowed his brows. "Aren't you busy filling up lessons for tommorow?"

"I'd do that..! But you see," Réne posed in a lazy manner. "I'm too lazy is what Dante or Roy would say! And yes, I'll do both. But there's just one thing.."

"And what is that?"

Réne's eyes suddenly glinted in a steer manner, "I can't have you messing with our valuable Twin Hearts! Bind!" Strings binded Jarell's body along with the limbs, preventing him to move.

Jarell slithered a calm smile, he snickered. "I'm so suprised how dumb could a Guardian such as you be.. you really think this could hold me?" A shade of green and yellow aura shrouded his body whole, dissolving the strings away.

"You may have your strings difficult enough to break but it's not enough to hold me.. the Arachne Spider of the Twelve Guardians may have her strings well wielded and thick, but I'm sure it's not enough as well."

He tilted his head, "now.. shall you be more specific next time?"

"Nah, a useless conversation from ya was enough to buy time anyway.."

"Haah?" Jarell turned to see the Twin Hearts' limbs being wrapped with strings as they were pulled up by Ara. "Not so fast," he shot a beam of blue light as the strings broke in a snap and caused the Twin Hearts to plummet back to ground.

"Like I said, when I'm not letting you go, I literally meant it. Even if it takes taking down your precious Twin Hearts like that." Jarell ragely said, he was holding his anger back.

"Just for what reason are you interested in the Twin Hearts?" Réne harshly said, for the very first time.

"Harsh, are you? Don't get cocky, rich little brat."

"Then why can't a boy like you just step out of the way and be interested in someone else?" Réne summoned his violin and began playing, the ground abruptly shook, causing the burned ground to crack.

"Your violin represents disruption, right? Even if it's an instrumental piece, it's still destructive as usual." Jarell surged his hand in front of the ground as it was forcefully sealed. "I can't afford you to break this ground whole, don't you know that beneath this very ground is lava or so? This is the center of the Earth, its most bottomest layer. Do you want to die, Kid?"

"Maybe or maybe not. But still, why are you interested in the Twin Hearts? Find someone else to play your nonsense game." Réne took a step forward as the ground shook a bit, the Twin Hearts still remain in a prostrated position.

"You're so stupid and futile, aren't you? You don't get it at all." Jarell's eyes fell as he clutched on his chest.

"Everyone..around me back then were nothing but fools. An extremely impeccable mother who didn't knew a thing about her child - a father who never once thought or cared about his son - bad-mouthed Guardians who were mentors of mine and taught me nothing but the moral between good and bad. Everyone did nothing but depressed me, I never felt happy. Honestly, I was never interested in anyone before I heard about how strong the Twin Hearts are. At first, I thought this century's Guardians were just idiots but guess you've impressed me."

"Why thank you, but I have to apologize 'cause we really need the Twin Hearts back.. understood?" Jarell quirked a brow as Réne placed his hat back on and mustered away by a pull of Ara's strings, "see ya, Gold-Eyes! Achne, Zar! Now!"

"Don't me what to do, shit rat.." Ara bounced out of the large chandelier, she wore a black ulster cape that exposes the black skin-tight full body suit she wears, noted to have net-shaped designs on the sides and on the forearms.

Binding her strings up on a pillar, she forcefully took the pillar off its own place, spinning it around like a lasso and threw it at Jarell.

Who destroyed it in rubbles after a snap of his fingers, "absurb, Third Commander of the Twelve Guardians. I don't appreciate your kind at all.." Jarell summoned a "flock" of bullets and shot them all at Ara.

"Earphones, you shrew." Ara commanded as Zariffe, who appeared out of the Headquarters' Guardian Tree; a gigantic tree that creates an indestructable barrier that shields the base from being destroyed or anything. Well, at least only in the outside but not in the inside.

He sat on Ara's shoulders, kissing her cheek before handing out the earphones. Aracelie turned bluish purple (NOT BLUSHING May I repeat NOT BLUSHING.) "You snitch, you'll pay for that..!"

Zariffe just laughed and moonassulted out of her shoulders, once his feet got to the ground. He haunched down to the Twin Hearts, "you guyz alright?"

"We are now, but I don't..feel so well." Adrien fainted but Zariffe held him in his arms.

He gave one steer glance at Marinette, "step out of the way before anyone else gets hurt. This is your fault after all," he placed Adrien down gently and kneeled back up.

Marinette's eyes glinted in fear. Zariffe, who turned behind, "and you call yourself one of the Twin Hearts.. lucky you're not being called a thing."

Marinette shooked the feeling away and glanced at Ara who wore the earphones, then began hurdling from each wall as she began filling up the room in webs. "Uhm, may I ask why Ara needs earphones to fight?"

"Aracelie is blind and she needs music to see things by just conjuring them in the mind. It's one of her tactics, don't think it's weird. She's doing all she can just to participate." Zariffe replied in a harsh tone.

Jarell suddenly lunged behind Ara after a blink, Ara turned in a shocking manner. Jarell brutely kicked her away, prompting her to crash on the wall. "Too slow. Is this young love or something? I wonder.. do you two have mutual feelings for each other?"

"On the contrary, I hate Zariffe severly."

Jarell chuckled, "maan, you are funny. I like you, but oh well, still I hate mob characters like you. You just do nothing but interrupt everything."

"Does it look like I care?" Ara coldy snapped.

Once she recovered, she pounced at Jarell from side to side. Releasing threads from her fingertips and once she filled Jarell's environment with strings, she clenched her fists.

The threads tied Jarell up like what Réne did, but it was all tight. No possible way for a normal human to be able to breathe or move. But Jarell's already dead, he can't breathe at all. He has no heartbeat at all.

The strings broke once more after emitting a snap, Jarell propelled himself to Ara. He strangled Ara, taking her feet off the ground.

"You humans really are stupid. Fighting back isn't the best thing, sweetheart. It's best to quit and die." Insanity driven over Jarell's eyes, it thrived off attention to Aracelie.

She choked out, "y-you should.. your parents are already..dead. You're even the one who killed them. I wonder why you still keep hanging around in this exotic world that we call 'reality' just what are you dreaming for?" She croaked, but Jarell seemed to hear it loud and clear.

"After you kill all people, after you kill the Twin Hearts, the Guardians and the Savior.. what will you do next? Won't you be lonely?"

Jarell glared at her with his eyes flashing from amber to completely black and red pupils. "S-Solitude has been on my side for these years.. what do you know..what it feels like to be rejected by my father, the Guardians, everyone and the world..?"

Zariffe furrowed his brows, not because of anger and confusion, because of realization. This..sounds familiar. He thought as Jarell continued, "they call me a thing instead of a person. The world rejected me.. people like you rejected me. Depression and regret is so painful.. I hate it. I hate it to Hell."

He brutally threw Ara down to the ground as Zariffe ran to his partner and held the back of her head. "Ara, are you alright?"

"Finish him off. I'm fine."

Zariffe laid her down gently and stood up, helium began to evolve his body. The whole place started to fill up as Jarell smirked in an annoying manner, "you'd do anything for your lovey-dovey, right, Crimson Phoenix?"

Zariffe didn't respond. Instead, his body wrapped up in flames as he began transforming. "Let's do this." Once the fire disappeared, he was revealed wearing a crimson red suit. He doesn't have a kwami, he doesn't have one at all. In fact, he doesn't have a miraculous.

"I see.. your Miraculous is one with you. You don't need a kwami at all, this is your true power, like what Aracelie Faivre and Lyra Guillame have. Dante Moreau's kwami is already dead because of his cursed Miraculous, it killed the poor little thing out of vain. As for the rest of the Guardians, they seem to have an issue with their kwamis, they don't need them at all. As long as they're close to them, they'll take advantage in observing more about kwamis. Yet they truly don't need kwamis to transform, correct?"

"It's been an act for the Twin Hearts, I see.. you're deceiving them, making them think that they're stronger ever since that agreement. That means..the Guardians' kwamis aren't really their kwamis, huh?"

"Is it because they're not really spiritual animals but the miraculouses' ancestors. These ancestors are one of the first Guardians' souls, huh? They guide you currenf Guardians to suceed in defeating me. Hmm, what a brilliant thing to do. But there's just one more thing, why put them in a box along with the miraculous?"

Jarell tapped his chin, "clearly, it's to keep them for them to wait for their masters and guide them to power. So that means Leroy Pierre and Abigail Agreste's kwamis were just bluffing about them being their kwamis, huh? It was just a test, I see.. you've got it all planned in the beginning. Mother was indeed smart after all."

"Maan, you think fast. You're so cunning. Clever enough to deceive the previous Guardian Council, huh? You stole their power, right?"

"Hmm? More likely, swallowed their powers whole by.. well, I shouldn't tell you my secrets. It'll be no fun."

"Same here."

After spawning a sword, Zariffe pierced its tip through the ground, making the ground crack. But Jarell seals it up, "gosh, you humans are crazy. Didn't I say this is the center of the Earth? Believe me, I've taken over my mother's mind and stole all her great knowledge.."

Zariffe chuckled, "everything?"

"Huuh?"

More swords came in, attacking Jarell from each direction. But as expected, he throroughly dodged it but then got a narrow cut by a sword than passed by. Jarell chortled instead of feeling the crippling pain as the cutlet healed in an instant, "not bad. Not bad at all."

Lyra who appeared in front of the Twin Hearts out nowhere, beamed. "Don't be scared.." Marinette lifted a brow before being knocked out by Lyra's blue mists. As Marinette thumped on the ground, her vision began to blur.

Though, she can still see Zariffe turning into something unstoppable. An eyeless monster of which represented the balance between fear and chaos.

Zariffe's eyes were no longer visible but all black so it may look empty in perspective, his hair russled over his vacant eyes. Fire started to encircle both him and Jarell so that Jarell won't escape.

"Y'know, at first, it was just a bluff that you're the strongest. But gotta say, you're pretty strong.. First Commander." Zariffe didn't countered back, he was voiceless as if his vocal cords were broken down. "Voiceless, huh? I can't believe this is the real you! A monster!"

Zariffe stomped a foot as the fire encircling them both evolved and turned into a pillar of fire. The flames started to bind Jarell's limbs as Zariffe summoned a sword. He raised it up and slashed it at Jarell from a distance away, commiting great destruction even though the blade didn't even touch Jarell.

Smoke cleared out in Jarell's path, Zariffe heard chuckling. "My. My. What a densing matter you have. Do you think that was enough?" Jarell stepped out of the smoke, as Marinette lost her consciousness and blacked out.
