Part Nineteenth: What Rightfully Belongs To You
This is it! An Adrienette chapter! Enjoy and my apologies about the earlier chapter, if you didn't like it.
The Twin Hearts shockingly stared at Lyrante. "S-So you guys are..d-dating?" What a shock it is to be that they get to move into the next stage of a relationship, despite the fact that Lyra liked Zariffe before. Also, it's a shame for the Twin Hearts because they're gradually becoming a couple.
Lyra who bobbed her head up and down, exclaimed, "Yes! This happened a few days ago!" Dante who was calm told Lyra to stop bouncing and Lyra did so obediently.
"Dante, how's that psycho doing?" Adrien obviously questioned Dante who finally opened his eyes. They were usually closed, y'know?
"Oh, René? Yeah, he really recovered quick." Dante replied, pondering. "I'm not sure what extensively happened, but..René, Rena and Lyra got along pretty quick. They're great siblings now," Lyra squealed "yes" as Dante said, "What's more stranger than that is that René's not his usual self anymore?"
"What? What do you mean?" The couple exchanged baffled glances, "He's not like..deadly now like back then, is he?" When the four of them, including Lerogail, went to school, Adrien found something on his desktop.
A love note. Adrien picked it up, "What's this thing?" He tried removing the heart out but it remained intact. "What the? It won't go off!"
"Huh? A love letter?" Leroy quirked a brow and soon glanced at Marinette who blushed when he gave her a face that says "Was it you?"
"Gimme that!" Abigail snatched the letter from her brother's possessions and examined it suspiciously. "Oh my, he finally has one!" She had a smug smirk on Adrien as he had an annoyed face.
"Finally?!" Adrien snatched the letter back to him and opened it gradually. A message of passion had left them into a shock, much to Marinette's fear of losing her Adrien. It imprinted the shocking words of: "I am in love with you, Adrien Agreste. Meet me behind the school 3 am sharp. Love, your secret admirer."
Marinette blanched, "S-Secret admirer?"
Adrien tiredly sighed, "This always happens." He folded the paper and shoved it into his jeans' pockets.
"I-It does?"
"Yeah, why should you care?" Adrien cluelessly asked, "In fact, what do you care about me? Don't you hate me?" Lerogail facepalmed. Adrien's really clueless, huh?
Marinette tried to hold back her tears but stayed tuff, "F-Fine! I don't even care about you!" She stormed away to Alya. And she's clueless as well. Adrien sighed sadly as he rested his arms on his table's desk.
Abigail and Leroy constantly looked at Adrien then to Marinette then back at Adrien, they facepalmed. "Oh gosh, what idiots." They mumbled simultaneously beneath their breaths.
A thick book slammed over the teacher's desk, scaring most of the students, much to the Twin Hearts' sulking. René surprisingly wore a steer expression, the same expression he had as a teenager and child. Everything was still the same about him. His navy blue hair was brushed-back and a bit of strands had fallen over his face. Except he wore a surgical mask over his face, his respiratory system must've grown weak after water had taken over his body.
Still surprised he made it back alive. His pale complexion was fine, at least he didn't seem like he was back from the dead, right?
"Listen up, I want people joined in pairs of this dissection activity. Your seatmates will be your partners for the whole semester. Now, grab a bull frog and start torturing!"
Yep, it's like back from the the dead. Adrienette thought as they were in the same seats. Guess who suggested that? After realizing that both of them were partners for the activity, they blushed.
"S-So, you're my partner, huh?" Adrien blushed, "A-Again?"
"Yeah, like always."
And just when it's about to become in horror, Abigail's partner was none other than..Jarell. René noticed, "Abigail, would you like to exchange partners with somebody?"
Abigail, however, remained calm. She sighed and said, "No, it's fine. I'm fine with Jarell." Jarell stared at her in a baffled face, but that turned into a smiling one when Abigail glared at him. "Just so you know, I still hate you. You. Are. Still. My. Enemy." Her eyes instilled with menace but Jarell's were more frightening.
Even though he was blissfully smiling, his eyes represented darkness and bloodlust. His dark aura across the room where making his classmates shiver in fright. "Hmm, you sure? From the looks of it, I think you want to kill me with this scalpel, isn't that right?" He smiled calmly, though, embodied his diabolical and twisted gaze.
All eyes were curiously on them, even René's. To make people think that their rivalry didn't exist, Abigail smiled warmly at Jarell, much to Jarell's bafflement. "No, no, I would never. After all, you're just a new student, right? I should treat you nicely. Why would I do something so illegal?"
Jarell flattened his brows, "Huuh? What's with that friendly countenance--?" Abigail shoved a piece of bread inside his mouth to prevent him in saying any troublesome words that might blew his cover. "I.. I..mean, apology accepted..?" He muffled.
Abigail giggled, "Oh Jarell, you're so funny!" He really is right. Abigail's appearance even changed. She then leaned closer to him and whispered acerbically, "Better keep your mouth shut or else I'll choke you to death by shoving more pieces of bread!" She said that even though Jarell's already dead.
Jarell swallowed the bread piece and said, "Aren't I already--"
Abigail shoved more into his mouth and snarled, "Stubborn hidden child you are..!" René watched the two pick on each other like siblings. Is she really sure about that monster being her partner? Wait. I shouldn't underestimate Abigail. She never agrees anything without a reason. "You ready?" Abigail wore her surgery gloves.
"Sure." Jarell smirked, picking up the scalpel and sticked its tip onto the lifeful frog's scalp. "Dare to move an inch and I swear I'll cut your head off." He threatened, no longer skiling but had a death glare on the frog.
"If he dies in a trauma before we give the death of him, I'm blaming you. Frogs should be alive when dissecting, it's what makes things more fun." Abigail picked up the scissors, "Speaking of which, since you're a sadist, you should..show more emotion."
"Are you telling me that I should show my masochistic side in front of all these mortals?"
"Eh, not my fault if they found out that you're a masochist AND a demon." Abigail said to him in an annoyed manner, her visage is more annoyed than Ethane's. "Pretty sure you're good at this since you've killed more than a thousand."
"Tortured or killed, depends when I'm having fun." Jarell steeped the scalpel's tip more on the frog's head, causing blood to streak down the animal's back. "I torture when I'm having fun, but if the victims gets boring, I naturally kill them in an instant. They bore me to death, their screams aren't interesting."
"You're disgusting. A monster." Abigail snarled and started the operation first.
"Why thank you, but aren't the Guardians the monsters themselves?" Abigail gave him a death glare. Jarell promptly laughed, "Whoops! Crossed the line there, didn't I?" Abigail rolled her eyes and began the operation.
After cutting the frog's front belly, oozing a large sum of malodor. The two promptly covered their noses because of the intrinsically powerful stench. "Man, this reeks!" Abigail blurted out, jutting her tounge out in disgust.
"Goodness gracious, it's worst than the inside!" Jarell grimaced in disgust.
"Actually, the inside is more of the worst one because it's filled with organs AND, it smells stinker." Abigail accurately corrected.
"Really? I theorectially think it's finer." Jarell framed a weird statement, "I've been dissecting humans ever since I was at your age. Personally, I made the mortals swallow their own organs." Abigail grimaced in disgust as Jarell furrowed his brows. "What? Don't you see that more exciting than dissecting a mere frog? At least it's more advanced. René Rousseau might've done the same."
"Done what?" René emerged behind them in a ripple's wave, with arms crossed and eyes staring deeply into their souls. Actually, only Abigail's. "Why aren't you removing the organs already? Everyone's starting. You both are the only ones left. C'mon, quickly! Dredge the heart out for me."
Abigail blanched as Jarell shrugged and did so. The heart was still pumping as he reached it out to René, "How's that?"
René quirked a brow before sighing and monotonically saying, "Fair enough, monster. But if I see you dissecting a human, I'll gladly send you to Guardian Exorcism." Guardian Exorcisms are like a normal cell jail but only more frighening because it'll fade away your life by the cell's walls draining your life source like a battery.
"Sure then, but do you think it'll taint or slaughter me?" Fortunately, only the trio heard that, not the clueless students. Overlapping, the Twin Hearts were only ramifying the stomach from the body.
Marinette simply was revolted by the stench of the frog while Adrien was at risk in trying to cut the stomach out. "Eeew! This is just grosser than seeing my dad wash his undies!" Marinette flailed around.
Adrien rolled his eyes and said, "Well, I don't know about you but this thing's stomach is stubborn! I can't cut it out!"
(Just gonna skip the brutal part since one of you might think I'm a sadist. ^_^)
"This is it! This is it!" Abigail whispered interjectionally as she eavesdropped on Adrien's meeting with his "secret admirer" behind a large tree. "Where is she? Where is she?"
"Why are you so excited?" Marinette quirked a brow as she hid behind the tree aside Abigail. "There's nothing to be excited about--"
"Sorry, it's just my first time seeing something like this!" Abigail quietly said, squealing from the inside.
A sigh flowed through the air and a voice chimed in, "Look, I don't know why you're here or why I'm here but let me just tell ya somethin'. Isn't this a momentary privacy? We're infringing right in his privacy zone." It was René. He was hiding in the same tree but only not peeking like the two.
"Yeah, but aren't you curious about what'll Adrien say to the girl who sent the letter?" Abigail had her smile. It was a killer smile, not literally a killer's smile. Just a sweet and warm smile that would..leave you to a shock.
"I dunno," René shrugged, draped his hands on his scalp and added, "Beats me. It's probably a no-go. The kid going out with another girl is definitely prohibited in the Miraculous law."
"A-Adrien..!" A voice chimed in. Followed by footsteps coming closer. They turned and saw..Lila Rossi. Marinette's eyes widen as they driven in shock and fear. The secret admirer..is Lila? This can't be happening. It's happening all over again.
"Whoz that?" René flattened his brows as he peered over to Lila. Clearly, he doesn't know any of his students names yet. Only the Twin Hearts and among his fellow guardians.
"That's Lila. The one from class?" René's face baffled even more as it instilled irritation to Abigail. "The one sitting beside me?"
"I thought the one sitting beside you was that monster?"
"Never mind," Abigail facepalmed and said, "It's not really that significant."
Adrien blanched as he shrunk. Of all people, why Lila? He never expected it to be her. Well, sure, that Volphina incident nullified pretty quick but he didn't expect her to still like him. "L-Lila? You're-You're my secret admirer?" He could feel his legs faltering like crazy because of this incident. Is she even serious? Well, much to Lila's blushing, she seemed really serious about this.
"Y-Yeah, I never got an opportunity to talk to you ever since..I was Volphina..." She still remembers that? Was she even purified to the normal Lila? "It's just..I never thought I could feel this way and.." she took steps closer to him, making Adrien back away in fright. "I like you! You've been trying your hardest these days and I'm really curious, but don't worry, I like this part of you!"
Marinette frowned and mumbled, "What does she mean by 'these days'? He's always been working hard."
"Before I realized it, I was always watching and looking at you." Adrien blushed with that. I mean, if somebody confessed their love for you and said that, wouldn't you be flustered? "I've been trying to take this out of my chest and just say it straight to you, but I never got the chance because I was too scared. And now I can finally tell you how I feel.. It feels great." She smiled warmly as Adrienette batted their eyes. This..wasn't the same Lila back then. No, maybe she's just behaving that way because of Adrien. "Adrien Agreste, please go out with me!"
Abigail batted her eyes as Adrien did the same. Marinette was ready to cry while René flattened his brows. He was majorly bothered by Lila's confession, even though he had been through there and done that.
"U-Uhm, I.. I.." Adrien stared nervously at Lila's eyes of hope and passion. If he hurted her feelings, he might make Lila cry or worse, be akumatized, again. If he accepts it, will he be able to endure it? And then he finally blurted out, "S-Sorry, Lila! But I can't go out with you! Please understand!"
"Huh?" Lila was deeply hurt but Adrien tried to take her way out.
"They told me, to make someone fall in love, you must make her laugh. But when she laughs, it seems like I'm the one falling in love.." Adrien balled his fists as he jerked his head down, "I'm sorry, Lila, but I can't force myself to love you. You see, I don't actually understand myself in this type of situation. I feel like I'm not ready for a relationship but I'm risking myself. It's not like I dislike you, I just..don't feel the same way. I..hope you understand. I'm sorry."
Lila's bangs covered her eyes as she hitched her breath, practically holding back her tears. Adrien couldn't figure out her feeling. Was it anger or was it something else? "Adrien.." Lila began in a weak voice and framed out the question, "Do you perhaps..like someone else..?"
Both Twin Hearts' eyes widen. Her question makes sense. Does Adrien like someone? "I.. I.." Marinette started to take steps forward, nearer to the two because she desperately wnated to hear the answer. "I-I-I.. I like.. I like--" Suddenly, Marinette had to ruin the moment by clumsily tripping down by a twig. She fell into Adrien's chest, abruptly. "M-Marinette?"
"A-A-A-A-ADRIEN?!" She squeaked as she took her head away from his chest. She was blushing madly that it made Lila curious.
"Ma-Marie, what are you doing here?" Adrien stammered, prompting Lila to turn. "Wait. Did you overheard our conversation?" Marinette couldn't answer. Right after tucking herself mistakenly on his chest, she was out of her mind.
"Oh geez, we're caaughht." Abigail stepped out of the tree, along with René by her side. "The fun's over. Maaan, I was so pumped up in hearing Adrei's answer!"
René yawned as he said, "Great job in ruining things, AQ (Aurora Queen). I was expecting you to be more careful though."
"Pro-Professor Ren?" Lila blinked, making René turn to her with an earnest gaze.
"Do I know you?"
Lila sweatdropped in shame, "U-Uhm, I'm a student from your class..? Lila Rossi? Doesn't it ring any bells?"
"Nah, never heard of you. Not ever."
"N-Not even in the attendance?"
"I never look at that damn thing, alright?"
While the two question each other, Adrienette was blushing. They were oblivious on each other's blushes. Abigail, on the other hand, was pleading Adrien to repeat his answer but he was too shy because Marinette was there. Up ahead, on the school's rooftop, a mysterious being was watching over them: Jarell Divell. He oddly smiled as he tilted his head, "Huuh? What's this?" He watched the Twin Hearts blush, "Those two are offbeatly subtle about their feelings towards each other. Are they blind or something?"
He stared at Lila as he flattened his brows, "That girl could get in the way." He slid out a gun beneath his sleeve as vines began binding around his limbs, this was one of his powers. "Should I kill her? No, I want to see more violence. And besides, that redhead got away, didn't he?"
He sighed as he kept the gun back to its rightful place and rested arms behind the railings, staring at the sun without even becoming blind. "Hmm, Mother creates the wondrous creatures yet the terrifying ones. The Vermillion Phoenix seems to be nowhere to be found, perhaps tommorow'll be the day the others would spun out of curiousity."
