Author's pov 

Looking at the face of Niyati they understood that she had heard everything.

"This is what you also think about me !!! If my brother and sister roam around with me , their lives, their image, everything will be destroyed….by my inauspicious presence!!!! I…I…." Niyati couldn't say anything as she started to sob.

She has heard their relatives talking about her, her grandmother cursing her day and night …but these things didn't hurt her as much as Shefali’s accusations today hurt her. She didn't expect this from her. 

But as they say ,expectations only hurt people. That's what happened to her. Never ever in her dreams did she think that Shefali, who is like a second mother to her, would say something like this about her. 

"Di, it's not what you are thinking." Sanjay said in order to console her.

Himanshu , Sadhika were glaring at Shefali who was looking down. Parthiv just shook his head in disappointment.

Without wasting any time, Niyati ran back to her room.

"Di…Di..wait." Meeta was about to run behind her when Shefali stopped her holding her hand.

" You won't go to her." Shefali said strongly.

"Stop it ,Mom. What happened to you?" Meeta asked her in frustration. 

" Your mother has lost her mind." Sadhika said in a hard voice and went towards Niyati's room.

"Seriously!!!  How could you think something like this about Di? You aren't that narrow-minded..then why?" Sanjay asked his mother in disbelief. 

"You people won't understand me." Shefali said .

“We don't want to understand you as well.” Meeta said and left from there. 

"Princess, please open the door." Parthiv said softly banging the door. He was feeling miserable hearing the sound of her sobs coming from her room.

"Dad, please leave me alone ..for some time…please…I beg you." He heard her broken and tired voice from outside.

"Okay Princess…but remember, your Dad and mom love you and no matter what people say about you, we aren't going to let you be alone." Parthiv said as his eyes got teary.

He heard her sobs getting louder. He wanted to go inside and console her but as she wanted to be alone, he decided to give her some space.

“Let her be. She needs it .” Sadhika said to her Husband with tears streaming down her face.

Letting out a defeated sigh, he walked away from there.

“I won't let  you live in peace .” Sadhika mumbled in anger remembering Shefali and Ira.

They were walking towards their room when they stopped in front of guest room from where some voices were coming out.

" Though I told all these about Niyati , it's not settling right with me. I shouldn't have hurt her like that." They heard the voice and understood that it was Shefali.

" No no..you did the correct thing. That girl needed a lesson. At least think about Sanjay and Meeta…roaming around with her will affect their future. Parthiv and Sadhika never thinks about them…they are biased towards that girl. But you have to think for your son and daughter. " 

Hearing the voice, they were stunned. It was Ira who was instigating Shefali against Niyati.

Parthiv cursed himself for thinking that his mother had stopped playing cheap tricks when he saw her stop taunting Niyati.

Without wasting any time he entered the room along with Sadhika.

"Wow, so this is what is happening behind my back? You are filling her brain against Niyati. I should have known that everything can come to an end but not your hatred for my daughter.

Why are you doing this? What are you getting by doing this?" He said to his mother, gritting his teeth in anger. He was frustrated by the behaviour of his mother.

"And you, what happened to your senses? You know very well that she hates Niyati…so it's very common for her to do things which would harm her. She is just using you to throw Niyati out of this house  and you are supporting her!!!

 Do you realise how much your words might have hurt her? This was the least she was expecting from you… she was already broken and you just broke her more.  " Sadhika said to Shefali angrily.

Shefali shook her head with tears in her eyes. 

Feeling ashamed, she looked down. She knew that whatever they were saying was right.

She was feeling ashamed that for the first time in her life she was being partial…she was hurting Niyati. 

They never discriminated between the children.

She became so blind for the wellbeing of her children that she forgot that Niyati was suffering right now and she deepened her wound by her hurtful words.

" Oh shut up, Parthiv. You are always siding with your daughter…did you ever think about Sanjay and Meeta…did you think what will happen to them because of your daughter's reputation?" Ira asked her son.

"If you are so bothered , then I am ready to cut ties with your family right away.

Right now my main concern is my daughter. And as a father I am protecting my daughter as I should because the outsiders and not to forget her own grandmother have already started to corner her.

And I will be more protective towards her because her chachi also didn't leave to hurt her with her words." Parhiv said and at the end taunted Shefali which made her feel more ashamed .

Ira looked at him in shock and so was Shefali.

"DAD….DAD…. TAU JI..TAU JI." 

Before anyone could say anything, they heard Sanjay shouting.

Parthiv and Sadhika looked at each other and immediately rushed out of the room to see Sanjay and Meeta running towards him after spotting him.

Ira and Shefali also followed him out of the room. Himanshu and Tejraaj joined them as well.

"What happened? Why are you both running like this? Is everything okay?" Himanshu asked them in tension.

"Sanjay, what's happening ? Why are you shouting like this?" Sadhika asked after coming out of his room.

" Di…Di…" Meeta ried to say but was immediately interrupted by Parthiv, "What happened to Niyati?" 

"Di isn't in her room." Sanjay said with a tense expression.

"What do you mean by that? Maybe she is in the washroom." Shefali said . The nervousness in her voice was proving that she was also tense.

They immediately rushed towards Niyati's room.

"Again she started her drama." Ira said. 

"Just shut up , will you?" Sadhika scolded her in a loud voice.

"Niyati”, Parthiv and Sadhika called out and looked around the room to see only emptiness. The washroom door was also open. They checked it only to find it empty as well. They then came out and went straight towards the terrace only to find it empty as well. 

Others except Ira also started to search for her in the whole house.

"Did you get her?" Tejraj asked them as they came back after searching for her.

"No Dad, in fact she has left her phone at home..her car keys are here as well." Parthiv said trying hard to keep his normal self but from inside he was fearing for the worse.

" Did she go to Saanvika’s home?" Sadhika asked them.

" Maybe we should call her.." Sanjay said.

Parthiv immediately called her.

After a few rings, Saanvika picked the call up.

" Yes Uncle," She said .

" Saanvika. Beta, did Niyati call you to say that she was going to your house some time ago or so?" He asked, trying to keep himself calm. He just hoped that she would say yes.

"No Uncle. In fact we didn't talk today . I was thinking of calling her tonight. Why? What happened?" She replied.

He rubbed his forehead and said, " Actually we have an issue here and she was hurt. She went out without telling us anything. That's why I was asking you. Listen, if she comes to you, please let me know." 

"Oh my God!!! 

Don't worry Uncle I will Iet you know. And you also let me know if she comes back home." She said in tension.

"Yes , beta. Don't worry." He said and cut the call.

Saanvika immediately rushed towards the living room and waited for Megha.

She looked at the watch and said to herself, "It's 10 pm now.  I don't know where she went? I just hope she doesn't do something foolish." 

"What did she say?" Shefali asked him. This made Sadhika snap at her, "Why? Why do you want to know? She left the house ..now the bad omen left Sanjay and Meeta…aren't you and your mother in law happy?" 

Shefali took a step back in fear. She cried and said, "I didn't know..know that…she…she would be this hurt to…" 

"You knew everything…that's why you did it. You deliberately did it. " Sadhika said while crying. 

" I don't know where my daughter has gone." Parthiv said and ran his fingers through his hair in frustration.

"She isn't a child..she can take care of herself. She is doing all these things to trouble us ." Ira said in irritation. 

"If you utter another word, I will forget that you are my wife. " Tejraj said to her angrily.

" If something happens to my daughter, I will see both of you and I mean it this time. " Sadhika said to both of them in anger .
