Chapter 7: Confused

-Hong Jisoo-

What am I even doing? Yesterday, I was all concerned for her and now I'm all rude. This isn't right. All of this wouldn't have happened if she didn't convince me to join the competition. Why do they even want me? There are a lot of students here that are smart, so why me?

Everything wouldn't be like this. Both of us could actually be good friends, but she chose to annoy me. She's annoying. My day always gets ruined whenever I see her because I know she'll annoy me again. But I kind of got used to it really fast.

Earlier, she invited me to go with her and her friends. Obviously I said no, but I actually wanted to go. This might be her plan to convince me so I said no.

This might be weird but ever since I walked towards her and our faces were inches apart, I kept on thinking about that. It won't erase in my mind. My heart was racing so fast, but I showed no emotions. It became hard for me to speak, but I handled it.

Shaking my head from all those thoughts, I went to the cafe where I usually buy coffee. Once I entered, I was greeted by the cashier, Boo Seungkwan. We kind of got close because he kept talking to me. "Jisoo! What's up?" he said with broken English. At least he tried though. I chuckled lightly, slightly shaking my head.

"I'm fine. One Iced Americano, please." I told him and sat on a vacant table, which was just beside the window. While waiting for it, I just look outside the window. Not much people were walking. They might be already in their work place.

"Here's your Iced Americano, sir." I turned my gaze to the person, seeing a smiling Seungkwan.

"Oh, thank you." I said as he placed the cup on the table. After that, he sat on the chair in front of me.

"So, how's school? Everything going smooth as usual?" he started. I heaved a sigh and shook my head, taking a sip of my coffee. Seeing him frown and looking confused, I know he wants to know why.

"Well," I put the cup down, "Someone has been annoying me." I can't tell him her name, or even her gender. He will start teasing me, which means it'll add up to my problems.

"And who is that someone? Is it a she or a he?" the thing about him is that, once you tell him your problem, he would keep on asking questions. He's a good listener, but he just kept on asking until it annoys you.

"Seungkwan, it doesn't matter if it's a she or a he. The point is, that 'someone' keeps annoying me and it ruins my day." I said, leaning back on the chair.

"If it's a boy maybe he just wants to be friends with you. But if it's a girl maybe she likes you." after what Seungkwan said, I almost choked my coffee. Her? Liking me? That's just weird.

"What? Did I say something wrong?" he asked, making me shook my head.

"What if they just annoy me because they want me to join the competition?" I asked.

"I don't know about that. I mean, you're smart and all. What's the use of your skills if you won't join? If I were asked to join, I would really join. But I'm not smart enough." he said and sighed.

There was a sudden silence. Sigh. Why does it have to be all awkward now? I was about to stand up but I suddenly heard someone call Seungkwan, making me stop from doing anything. "Just wait! I'll come back!" Seungkwan loudly said and stood up. He looked at me and said, "Sorry, but I gotta go back to work." he was about to leave but I stood up, making him look at me again.

"I'll go now too. Thanks for the coffee and talking to me too." I said while smiling.

"No problem. Come back again." he pat my shoulder and headed back to his work. I slightly nodded and left the cafe.

No school tomorrow, which means I won't see her. She won't ruin my day tomorrow. Finally. I'll have some rest.

Once I open the door to my house, I was greeted by my mom. She smiled when she saw me. "Welcome back, Joshua." she said, placing some plates on the dining table. I noticed that she placed many plates than usual. Is there something gonna happen later? I asked myself. "Oh! I forgot to tell you. Your cousin will come tonight."

"Cousin?" I questioned as she nodded. Of all day, why now? Why does he have to go here now?
