Chapter 6: No

Walking in the school's hallway like what I usually do. Today, I'm alone because Jun was told to clean the classroom while Minhee was called by our homeroom teacher again. I know this is her second time already, but I'm getting curious. I feel like there's something up but I don't know what it is. If only I can eavesdrop I'll know what they're talking about. But I'm guessing it's just all about school stuff.

I decided to go to the indoor basketball court, thought that Mingyu would be there. Once I entered, I saw him doing the '3 pointer'. I'm not sure what you call that because I don't play basketball. I just hear that sometimes whenever I go with Mingyu to practice before.

I just stood there, watching his moves. He's really cool to be honest. I wonder why he doesn't have any girlfriends yet. Well he says that he isn't interested, but I don't think it's true.

When he took a break, I called his name which made him look at me. I walked towards him and sat beside him. "What're you doing here, Hyemi?" he asked while wiping his sweat using a towel.

I just shrugged my shoulders. "Jun and Minhee are busy so I'm all alone"

"And you came here because you don't have anyone to be with you, am I right?"

I nodded. He heaved a sigh and stood up, taking his bag with him. "Let me just change and I'll take you to the arcade so you won't be bored" I nodded once again and he left. I only stayed here and waited for him to finish.

As time goes, I started to get bored. I asked myself, why is this boy taking a long time? I scratched my non-itchy head and stood up. I took my phone out and was about to text him to look for me somewhere in the hallways when he suddenly came running.

"Sorry for making you wait. I just had a talk with Vernon" he was wearing the uniform and his hair was neatly fixed. Wow. I wanna ask what's the occasion but no need because I don't want to hear what he'll say, which is 'Is there something wrong in wanting to be handsome?'.

"Let's just go" I said and walked towards the door.

I glanced at my wristwatch and there's still four minutes left till next class. I heaved a sigh and faced Mingyu. "Sorry Mingyu, but let's just go out after school with Minhee and Jun, okay?"

"Why?" he said, showing a confused look. I rolled my eyes and showed him my wristwatch. His eyes widen and now he looked like he's in a hurry. "Sure. See you later" then he ran off to somewhere which I assume to his classroom. Yeah. Mingyu is in a different class.

I turned to my other direction and headed to my classroom. Mingyu took long to change so we didn't have much time to hang out. I wonder where Jun and Minhee were. I bet they're already in the classroom. I decided to run instead of walking. I'll take more time if I walk. I might come to the classroom late.

While running, I suddenly bumped to someone. I was gonna say sorry but when I saw who it was, my mouth went shut. Dejavu. It was Hong Jisoo. "It's you again" he said, his voice with no emotion. I guess he's back to his normal self.

Wait. I thought of a plan just now. Since we'll be going to the arcade, why not let him come? Yes! My main plan would be annoying him, but maybe if I get close with him he can change his mind. I hope this time, it'll work. "Um, Hong Jisoo, I wanna ask you something"

He sighed and said, "What is it?" he started walking so I caught up with him.

"Wanna come with me and my friends to the arcade?" he stopped walking and gave me a 'are-you-serious' look. All I can think of him saying yes. Please Hong Jisoo, just say yes.

"Sorry, but I still got something to do" he said and walked off. My eyes slightly widen and caught up with him again.

"Is that a no?" I feel dumb for asking that. Of course it's a no, dummy.

"Stop. It's really getting annoying. If this is part of your plan to convince me to join, it's not gonna work"

"Please, just come with us"

"A no is a no, got it? Now get going before you get late for your class"

I just stood there as he walked away. Why can't I convince him? Sigh... it's okay, Hyemi. It's just like a math problem I have to solve. It may be hard at first, but once I figured it out, it'll be easy for me to find the answer. I won't give up, not a single bit. I'll stay strong, whatever it takes, I'll still stand strong.
