Chapter 2: Happy Birthday!

Will he like this? I asked myself. He accepts anything from me anyways but I want something that he would really like, not just a strawberry milk that came from the convenient store. Though, he really liked it. But I want to buy a gift that he would make him remind of me. What if he goes back to China and doesn't remember me anymore? Well I'm thinking so much. I shouldn't be so worried about it.

Since I didn't know what to give him, I just bought a hoodie. The reason? Well he lets me borrow them and he'll be saying that I can have it even though I refuse to, he still insist. I'm sure he won't let me borrow this one.

While I was heading to the party, my phone suddenly buzzed. I took my phone out, checking who messaged me. I thought it was my mom but it was just Minhee.

MinCutie: Where are you?! Jun is seriously expecting for you to come right now. He kept on glancing at the door then at the clock. I'm sure he's waiting for you. A teacher asked you a favor anyway bUT GIRL PLEASE HURRY UP.

I sighed and replied,

HyeeMii: Okay! Okay! Chill will you? I'm on my way there now. I just bought a gift. Tell him that I'm almost there.

I put my phone back in my pocket and started running. I can't just walk so slow like I'm just enjoying the view. I can't let someone wait for me. I should be there now. I don't want them to wait for so long.

Once I was there, I panted. Instead of pressing the doorbell, I knocked on the door. As I waited, I looked at my gift for Jun. I hope he'll like this. This was actually the last piece and thank goodness I was the last person to buy it. When the door open, I lifted my head up just to be greeted by a happy Mingyu. "You're finally here. Someone has been waiting for you since the time Minhee came"

"Really? Oh.. I'm so sorry. Ms. Jeon--" I was cut off because he started chuckling.

"Don't explain that to me. Explain that to the birthday boy" he pointed at the back, which I assume he's pointing at Jun. I nodded and opened the door wide open for me.

"Guys! Hyemi is finally here!" Mingyu shouted, going straight to the dining room. I purposely walked slow. I always do that anyway.

"Where is she?" I heard Jun asked.

"She's right he-- hey where is she? Hyemi, walk faster will you?" Mingyu said, feeling irritated by me. I pouted, pretending to be mad at him.

"You're so rude" I said, crossing my arms.

"Hyemi!" Jun suddenly placed an arm around me. We usually do this so I'm used to it. I don't have to be awkward about it. "What took you so long?" he asked, his lips were slightly pouting.

I giggled lightly and said, "Ms. Jeon asked me a favor. Sorry to keep you guys waiting" I looked at them one by one. They were smiling while Minhee was frowning. I showed her a 'what' face and she finally spoke.

"Next time, don't forget your phone so we'll go together. You know how boring it was to walk alone" she said and crossed her arms. Wow. Is she mad about that? I walked towards her and did aegyo. I may or may not hate aegyo but this is the only way she'll accept my sorry. No one can handle my aegyo, that's what they say.

"Minhee~ I'm sorry~" I said while doing aegyo. Take note to myself, I must go straight to the toilet after this. It just made me disgusted of myself.

Just by looking at her face, I know she'll give in. "F-Fine! Apology accepted. Just stop doing aegyo or else I'll change my mind" I then stopped and smiled victoriously.

"So, can we eat now?" Mingyu suddenly asked out of the blues. All of us laughed and nodded.

"Let's eat!" Minhee exclaimed as we all started to get food. Before I did, I gave my gift to Jun. Just to make sure I won't forget to give it to him later on.

After we ate, I received a text message coming from my mom.

Mom: Don't stay there for a long time! Besides, it's getting dark. Be safe, okay? Love you!

I smiled as I replied an 'okay' to her. I stood up, getting all the attention. "I gotta go now. My mom is looking for me. Thanks for inviting me! I really enjoyed, and the food was delicious too" I told them and I started heading to the entrance.

"Wait! I'll go with you" I heard Mingyu said. "A girl shouldn't be walking alone at night"

"That's what everyone says" I muttered, opening the door. Before I completely leave Jun's house, I said "Happy birthday Jun! See you at school tomorrow!" then I left.

Mingyu and I are now walking in the sidewalk. Surprisingly, it was quiet. It isn't like this usually. He is always talkative, but now he isn't. Something must be wrong, or maybe he's just tired. I was gonna start a conversation but he suddenly spoke. "Hyemi, are you free tomorrow after school?" he asked and I got curious about it.

"Tomorrow after school? What's the event?" I asked back.

"Well, you see, my team is gonna be competing with the other school. Every student in our school will be coming to watch" right. He's a basketball player.

"How come I never heard about this?"

"Because you're always busy" he flicked my forehead, it hurts to be honest.

"Hey, why'd you do that?" I complained while rubbing my forehead. I was gonna say 'sure' but I realized that I still gotta convince Hong Jisoo to join the school's competition. Well I guess I can't. "Sorry Mingyu, but I can't go after school"

"Why not? You always go whenever I have--" I cut him off.

"I'm gonna be busy tomorrow. I still gotta do a lot of things" I told him as he sighed. Obviously, I lied.

"Okay. I'll just tell you if my team won or not" I nodded and gave him a smile.

"I'm very sorry, Mingyu"

"It's okay. I understand"

We finally reached my house and we both bid our goodbyes. Now, I need a plan to convince Hong Jisoo to join that competition. Aish... what should I do? Whatever! I'll just do what I can do.

Hong Jisoo, I hope you're ready tomorrow because I'll be annoying you whether you like it or not.
