Chapter 15: With Him

As I slowly walked back to my house, my mind was full of questions. What happened earlier in school, what was that about? Competition? What does it have to do with Hong Jisoo? I'm not sure whether to trust my gut or not. I just can't jump into conclusions without knowing what's the actual story. If I did, I might even give out the wrong idea.

I heaved a sigh and stopped by the convenience store. I felt quite thirsty so I decided to buy some refreshments-- by refreshments, I meant strawberry milk. I headed to the beverages area and looked for the strawberry milk. Sadly, it was the last one. Without any hesitations, I quickly grabbed it.

I didn't expect what just happened. There was another hand gripping on the bottle. What the-- I was quite shocked to see the person in front of me. The person who I least want to see. Hong Jisoo. We stared at each other for quite a while and I noticed how his eyes were quite different-- they were tired.

Suddenly, someone faked a cough. "Hey, you two, are you gonna buy something or what?" the cashier asked, making us both go back to our senses.

I quickly let go and glanced back to him before saying, "You can have it. I didn't want it anyway" and I left.

Taking a short sigh, I looked down. I would've been drinking that strawberry milk now if he didn't appear. Honestly speaking, I'm really thirsty. Too bad my water bottle is already empty. I should've bought another one in the store near the school before I go head back to my house. I guess my mind was too occupied to even remember anything.

I suddenly felt someone tapping my shoulder lightly, making me look behind. Again, I didn't expect him to be here. Hong Jisoo is here once again. He was slightly panting and it was obvious he ran all the way here. But why? What for? He stretched his arm, handing me the strawberry milk from earlier. I gave him a confused look while he wasn't showing any emotions. "Take it" he said but I shook my head, giving him a small smile.

"No, it's alright. Just like what I said earlier, you can have it"

He shook his head and took my hand, placing the bottle on my palm. "Never knew you're quite stubborn" he softly chuckled. "Just take it. I know you want it so badly"

My eyes slightly widened and shook my head vigorously. "Really, it's okay! I still have some back in the house--" I was cut off by him.

"Just take it, Park Hyemi"

I glanced at him and to the bottle as I heaved a sigh and accepted it. Looking away, I thanked him and he just nodded.

I was about to walk away slowly but he suddenly asked me a question, which I didn't expect again. "Do you have time to take a stroll in the park?" he looked at me, waiting for my answer. Well, I do have time but my mom might get mad at me for being late. Just by looking at his expression, I guess he wanted someone to be there with him for a while. I could just explain to mom later once I get home.

I looked up to him and nodded. "Yeah, I do. Should we go now?" I told him as he nodded and walked away. I followed him behind like a little puppy following its mom. From what I'm seeing right now, I realized how his back figure is really nice. You could tell he's really tall. I also realized how we're still wearing our school uniforms. It's not that I'm uncomfortable with it, I just felt like wearing casual clothes now.

We both sat down on a bench as I drank my strawberry milk. It's quite weird of why he chose the bench that is literally facing the playground where kids were playing with their friends. From all the benches that were available in this park, why here?

I took a short glance at Jisoo and noticed that he's staring at the kids. Basically those two little boys playing cars. He slightly smiled and looked down, heaving a sigh. "Those kids are cute, right?" he asked. I assume he's talking about those two little boys.

I gave him a short nod and said, "Yeah, they are" and after that, there was an awkward silence between us. I stared at my lap, trying my best not to feel the awkwardness surrounding us.

Suddenly, he started the conversation. "I had a childhood friend and we were like that too" I glanced at him and gave him a smile, making sure that my awkwardness isn't obvious.

"Really? What happened?" I asked.

He slightly shook his head. "Nothing. I'm just sharing that to you but I won't go in full details" he turned and looked at me.

"Why not?"

"We don't know each other much"

I sighed and nodded. "It's okay. It's something personal anyway"

We both looked away from each other, that awkward atmosphere is back. Hmm.. childhood friend? Probably that guy he was talking to earlier in school. But what if he isn't? I decided to ask him about the guy from earlier since I became very curious today just because of that. "Hong Jisoo, may I ask a question?"

"You are asking one now" he told me, taking a glance.

I sighed and just ignored what he said. "Who was that guy from earlier? That guy wearing a blue uniform, who was that?"

He frowned slightly and it looks like I made him quite pissed. I shouldn't have asked that. I should really be careful of whatever I ask next time!

Long time no see!
I'm very sorry for not updating this story for so long.
I couldn't keep up with all the things happening recently.
I have been busy with school, especially this upcoming week since it's almost our exam week.
Today is the only day I was free and I decided to update this!
I know all of you are waiting for the new update and I'm really sorry!
I made you all wait for so long;-;
I'll seriously try my best to update frequently.
