Chapter 13: Keep Smiling

"You've been looking down. Are you looking for something?" the guy beside me, Hong Jisoo, asked as I glared at him. Currently, he's walking me home. I didn't agree in the first place, but he insisted. So here we are, walking to my house with him following me. It's almost night so maybe that's the reason why he wanted to walk me home. Maybe he's a gentleman after all.

"I'm not" I told him as he raised a brow.

"Then why do you keep on looking down?"

Yeah, why do I keep on looking-- oh, right. I've been thinking about him. He might've had a past and it became his trauma, or maybe something close to that. I wanna know so that I can tell Ms. Jeon about it, and this might change her mind and let other students join even though they don't want to. "Just thinking about something. Don't mind me" I said and gave him a small smile.

Hong Jisoo might've really had a past. In movies that always happen, but the thing is that we aren't in a movie. This is reality. Maybe he just don't want to join because he's scared? Scared that he might lose the competition. This is hurting my mind! I slightly shook my head and walked in a faster pace. "Hey, wait up!" I heard him said from behind.

I turned, faced him, and said "You can go home now, I can handle myself from here" even though my house isn't near yet. Honestly, I don't really know where I'm going. I'm not familiar with this area.

"Are you sure?" he asked and I nodded. He was hesitating for a moment, but shook his head. "I'm not leaving till you're finally home" he gave me a small smile as I just rolled my eyes. He won't leave unless I'm home, but how am I gonna find my house when I'm not even familiar with this area?

So the journey continues, him following me from behind while I'm figuring out where are we. I took my phone out and switched it on. I tapped the GPS app and searched for my home address. My eyes widen and it showed me where it was. It's far away from where I am now. What am I gonna do? It's 7:24pm. My mom's gonna be mad at me for being late.

"What's that?" I suddenly heard his voice beside me and it made me startled.

"Nothing"

"Is that where you live? We're not in the right area?"

I have nothing to say so I just nodded. We have been walking and just now I noticed we're in the wrong area. I should've used the GPS app earlier and we wouldn't be lost now. He stretched his hand to me as I just stared at it. "What?"

"Hand me your phone"

"No way--"

"Do you want to go home or not?"

I shut my mouth and lightly sighed. "Fine" I said and gave it to him. He looked at the GPS, actually he looks like he's studying it.

"We'll be riding three buses till we reach your area" he said and handed me back my phone.

My eyes widen from shock. "Three buses?!"

"Got a problem with that? There are no taxis available now, well, in this area"

I took a deep sigh and said, "Lead the way" he nodded and gestured me to follow him. I had no choice but to follow him since he's my only hope. My only hope to get home. I'll just explain it to my mom once I get home later.

"Thank you, Hong Jisoo" I said and slightly bowed my head. He slightly smiled and shook his head. "No problem. You're home now"

I walked towards the entrance door and shoved the key in the lock. Before I could enter, I looked back and bowed once again. "Again, thank you. Goodnight"

"Goodnight to you too, Hyemi" he said and was about to walk away, but then he said something. "By the way, keep smiling" and then he left.

Without me knowing, I was smiling. I don't know but that just made me smile. I shook off my thoughts away and entered the house. Once I closed the door, I heard my mom.

"Where have you been?" she asked and I just stood there, frozen. Well I guess I have to explain to her everything.
