Chapter 11: You Know

I've been thinking about those guys I heard last night. What if Hong Jisoo is my neighbor? What if he lives somewhere near my house? I heaved a sigh and shook my head. Impossible. There's a zero possibility that we'll be neighbors.

I took out my notebook and decided to doodle some random cartoon characters. It's not like I'm good at drawing, I actually suck at it.

Minutes later, Minhee sat beside me. She was leaning close to me so I guess she's looking at what I'm drawing. "Isn't that moomin?" she asked and I nodded. I actually have no idea why I'm drawing moomin. Blame Jun for showing me a picture of moomin. It looks cute.

I nodded. "Yeah. It's suppose to look cute, my drawing is just not nice" I sighed and just kept drawing. I had nothing to do after. Surprisingly, our homeroom teacher is taking a long time. Maybe she's in a meeting with the other teachers? Or either today is a free day. But that's so impossible though. There's no event that'll happen anyway. Maybe she's just late.

We waited for five more minutes. Others were studying, and others were talking with their friends. I didn't know what to do so I decided to walk around the school. I told the class president that I'll be back after fifteen minutes, luckily, he allowed me.

I went to the school's garden. I was patting the pocket of my coat to check if my phone is with me, but sadly it isn't. I sighed, putting my hands down. I remember my phone is in my bag and I forgot to bring it with me. Now that my phone isn't with me, I'll just enjoy this beautiful scenery. I rarely go to the school's garden because it's too cliché.

While I was admiring the beauty of this place, I suddenly saw someone sitting on one of the benches. That person was a guy. He was reading a book which I don't really know what it's about. His back view looked familiar to me. Perhaps he's Hong Jisoo? I shook my head and continued walking. I didn't want to disturb him, yet.

As I passed by him, I heard him close the book. Not gonna lie, but I actually panicked and I don't know why. I walked faster so that he won't notice me. Why am I even walking faster? Why did I even panic? Why? I shook all of the questions off my mind and headed back to the classroom.

When I successfully went back, I went to my seat. Minhee was still sitting beside me, studying. The teacher still hasn't arrived which made me think again. Where is she? I was going to get my phone out from my bag when I suddenly heard a dinging sound, which means there will be an announcement.

"Good morning, students. This is Mr. Oh, the school's principal. As you all noticed, the teachers hasn't arrive in your classroom. The reason? There was a meeting. Today, there won't be any classes so all students can either go back to their homes or stay in school. But the names that I will be stating should head to the meeting room, and they are Jung Jaehyun, Choi Yuna, Lim Changkyun--"

And the list of names continued. I didn't listen since I know my name won't be stated. But when I heard Minhee's name, I gave her a surprised expression while she gave me an apologetic look.

When the principal finished speaking, Minhee stood up and told me that she'll tell me everything later through text, and she left.

"Well that's surprising" Jun sat on the chair beside me as I nodded. He and I both stared at the door, which was wide open. Our classmates started leaving but some still stayed. "Should we go check on Mingyu?" he asked, facing me.

I shrugged my shoulders and said, "Sure" we both stood up and left the classroom. We went to the basketball court since that's the only place we know where Mingyu will stay. Once we opened the door, we took a seat on the bleachers. Mingyu was there dribbling the ball. His friends were there too, probably playing with him. "By the way, I forgot to ask," Jun turned his head to me and gave me a look.

"Which team won?" I asked.

"Mingyu's" Jun answered and I nodded. "They looked cool as always"

I lowered my head, looking at the floor. "I'm still sorry for not going. I was really busy that time" he ruffled my hair as he chuckled lightly.

"It's fine. Next time, you have to come, got it?" I nodded and gave him a smile.

We looked back to the group of people playing when we saw Mingyu walking towards us. He waved his hands and we did too. "I thought you two already went home since there aren't any classes today" he said and sat beside Jun.

"We went to check on you" Jun said, making Mingyu smile.

"Really? My friends are really sweet"

I slightly cringed but I didn't show it. "By the way, I heard Minhee was called to the meeting room" Mingyu said as Jun and I nodded. "Why?"

I shrugged my shoulders. "I don't know why. She didn't tell me anything about this"

"Maybe this is the reason why she kept on being called by the teacher?" Jun told us, which caught Mingyu and I's attention.

"You really think so?" Mingyu asked, making Jun nod.

"Let's just wait for her to tell us later or tomorrow, I don't know when"

We were in the middle of our conversation when someone suddenly called Mingyu. "Well, I gotta go. See you when I see you two. Bye!" then he ran off to his friends who called him. They left the basketball court, leaving Jun and I alone.

"And then there were two" Jun said as he stood up. "Let's go in a ca--" he was cut off by his phone, it just started ringing. He excused himself and went far away from me. I just stayed there sitting. Am I gonna be left alone again? I asked myself. If I would be left alone, should I just go home and take a rest? That would be boring...

Jun came back with an upset look. "I'm sorry Hyemi, but I have to go back home. We'll be having visitors later on and I have to help my mom prepare the foods"

"Oh.. well, it's okay! I'll just go home too" I said and smiled. Actually I felt sad since I'll be alone again. I guess it's just me and my bed once again.

"I'm really sorry. I'll make it up to you someday. Right now, I have to go. Bye!" he said, waving at me and left, like what everyone does. I heaved a sigh, stood up, and left the basketball court.

I walked in the hallway, seeing some other students there too. Some of them were with their friends and some were holding their books. I headed back to the classroom to pack my things and after that, I'll go straight back home. I was looking down that I didn't even notice that I bumped onto someone. I didn't look up. I just apologized and continued walking back to the classroom.

"Hey!" I heard someone said from behind. I was hesitating whether I should look back or not. But I did look back anyway. My eyes widen slightly. It was Hong Jisoo. He took a step forward towards me, but we were still far from each other. He looked at me from head to toe, which made me awkward. "Why are you feeling down?" he asked.

I shook my head. "I'm not feeling down" I said and walked away.

I felt a hand on my shoulder, making me look at the person behind me. It was still him. "Yes, you are. Stop denying it" he told me.

"And why do you care?"

What I said made him shut up. We both stared at each other's eyes. Well, I did say that his eyes looks scary, but now it isn't. They look like cat's eyes.

He shook his head, making him look like he just came back to his senses. "You know what," he continued, "Just get your things. I'll be waiting in the school's gate" then he walked off.

What is he gonna do? Is he gonna take me somewhere? All those questions were floating in my mind. This side of him is new to me, and I don't think I'll get used to it. But I guess I won't go back home and take a rest.
