Part 19

[Almost everyone thought it will be either Rhea or Ranbir. Arey doston, humesha dushmani ya pyar hi milega kya? Father daughter bonding bhi toh milega na? ;)]

Abhishek was standing in front of her. He was smiling at her mischievously.

"Hey, Rajdhani express, where are you rushing off to? Atleast think of my age and my poor bones." Abhishek chukled.

"Oh please, Mehra Sir! You are young and strong. So, nothing is gonna happen to your bones. They are safe and so are you." Prachi grinned playfully.

"Isn't it? I keep telling Vikram but that old man just doesn't believe it. He is just jealous." Abhishek smirked.

"Not his fault though, is it? Anyone will be jealous of a young and handsome man like you." Prachi giggled playfully.

"Thank you, mademoiselle." Abhishek bowed down to her making her laugh merrily.

By then, Sahana had caught up with them and was looking at them with a wide grin.

"By the way, why were you dashing away at such a speed and that too blindly?" Abhishek raised a brow.

Prachi opened her mouth to reply but before she could do so, another familiar voice did the needful on her behalf.

"Because she is blind, Chief. These football size eyes doesn't really work. They are only for show. That's why she keeps bumping into people time and again." Ranbir smirked.

Prachi whirled around to see Ranbir strolling towards them with mischievous smirk along with Aryan. She glowered at him and then turned her back to him. She looked up at Abhishek and smiled sweetly. By then, Ranbir and Aryan had caught up with them and Ranbir came to a halt beside Prachi.

"He is right of course. My eyes don't work." Prachi nodded innocently.

Ranbir frowned in confusion as he wondered why she agreed with him when her next remark cleared his confusion and made him glare at her to his heart's content.

"My eyes don't work properly. And in his case, the thing above his eyes doesn't function properly. Isn't that so, Ranbir?" Prachi turned to look at Ranbir innocently.

Abhishek and Aryan burst into fits of laughter while Sahana, who didn't really understand the meaning behind Prachi's words, failed to decode why exactly her words elicited such varying reactions.

"What do you mean, Prachi?" Sahana looked around in innocent confusion.

"What is above the eyes? Brain, isn't it? Prachi meant Ranbir's brain doesn't function." Aryan guffawed.

"Very funny! And you are a car without battery. That's why you come to a halt abruptly in the middle of nowhere, causing accidents." Ranbir growled.

"Oh yeah! Then you are a car without brakes who keeps running in an uncontrolled way, leaving a number of casualties in his wake." Prachi retaliated.

Abhishek chuckled, enjoying their fights but soon the chuckle subsided and their remained only a small smile, a smile of reminiscence. His mind travelled down the memory lane and he recalled another couple from years back, who used to keep bickering with each other and yet, used to love each other the most and still did. He and his Pragya. He was seeing themselves in Ranbir and Prachi. Whoever said that we fight the most with those whom we love the most, is absolutely right. At that moment, Abhishek prayed to the Almighty that these two shouldn't ever go through the agony of separation. He looked up to the sky and prayed for Pranbir's everlasting happiness and togetherness.

He looked at the still bickering couple in front of him and beamed affectionately. It was time to stop them, he realized with a chuckle.

"And you are a very old lady in the body of a young girl!" Ranbir glared at Prachi.

"And you are a toddler in the body of a young guy." Prachi retaliated.

"Stop! Stop! Stop! Guys, calm down. You both are gonna kill each other." Abhishek laughed.

Ranbir and Prachi turned to him with embarrassed smiles.

"Sorry, Chief. But that's our daily routine. We usually start bickering anytime, anywhere." Ranbir  chuckled while Prachi rolled her eyes.

"I used to do so too. So, I totally understand." Abhishek had a faraway look in his eyes.

"With whom, Sir?" Prachi stared at him curiously.

"With my wife. And that's what you two were looking like, a married couple." Abhishek laughed at the identical redness in both the young boy and girl's visage.

"So, continue fighting. I will have to leave now. Bye, fantastic four." Abhishek winked.

"Fantastic four?" Prachi stared at him, bemused.

"Of course. Since you four are always together and always there for each other, you are fantastic four for me from now on. Bye, fantastic four." He chuckled.

All four of them laughed and bid him farewell. Laughing and pulling each other's legs they made their way to their respective classes.

"Hey, Aryan! I forgot to ask. Did you report Dimpy and Shaina to the Princi?" Sahana turned towards Aryan, who hissed in frustration.

"Sahana! Can you ever keep your big mouth shut?" Aryan glared at her.

"What? What did I do?" Sahana gaped at him in bewilderment.

"Actually, Aryan didn't want to give Prachi further stress by disclosing that incident to her. That's why he asked me to keep quiet about it." Ranbir clarified.

"Oh!" Sahana nodded, finally understanding.

"Yes. And I should have asked this blabber mouth to keep quiet about it too. Though I don't think even that would have worked as Sahana just can't keep anything within herself." Aryan frowned at Sahana.

"Excuse me! You didn't say anything and I am not a thought reader. So, how was I supposed to know? Did you think I will get a dream warning me against saying anything to Prachi?" Sahana scowled at Aryan.

"Had I asked you, would you have kept quiet about it?" Aryan raised one brow.

"Of course, I...well, I would have tried at least." Sahana glanced around sheepishly as Pranbir laughed and Aryan rolled his eyes.

"Point proven." Aryan smirked.

"Hey! That's not..." Sahana began complaining

"Okay guys! That's enough. Peace. Now out with the truth, please." Prachi demanded.

Sighing, Ranbir divulged the truth about the incident that could have happened had Aryan not intervened the previous day. They expected Prachi to be shocked. Prachi, however, just sighed resignedly, surprising them instead.

"Prachi! Are you not shocked to hear this?" Aryan stared at her with concern.

"Not really, Aryan. They have been trying to humiliate me in some way or other since forever. So, I guess I have become used to their cheap tactics." Prachi smiled.

"Don't worry, Prachi. As long as we are here, we won't let them harm the tip of your hair." Aryan vowed.

"I know, Aryan. Thank you. Thank you so much for saving me from humiliation last night. If I had a brother, he would have been just like you." Prachi became emotional.

"Hey! Don't you know the basic rule between a brother and a sister? No thank you and no sorry." Aryan side hugged the girl who had come to mean more of a sister to him than his own sister.

"I thought that is the rule of friendship." Prachi smiled.

"Nope. That works for brother and sister too." Aryan smiled aback affectionately.

"But guys, you didn't say if you have reported them to the Princi?" Sahana chirped.

"We did. And they received an unique punishment." Aryan guffawed.

"What punishment?" Prachi looked at Ranbir quizzically.

"That's a surprise for you. You will witness it yourself as soon as the professor walks out of your class." Ranbir smirked.

"But..." Prachi's was interrupted by the first ringing of the bell indicating that classes were about to start.

"Oh no! I will miss my first class today! Bye guys, see you later." Without waiting for their reply, Prachi dashed away.

An hour later

All the students sighed in relief as the professor walked out of the classroom.

Prachi put down the pen tiredly and flexed her fingers. It had been a long and exhausting lecture. All she wanted to do was put her head down for a while. However, a sudden commotion compelled her to look around.

The sudden giggling and whispering among her fellow classmates confused Prachi. She followed their gaze and what she saw astonished her.

Dimpy and Saina were entering the classroom with a bucket of water and a mop. They looked around as giggles and whispers transformed into gales of laughter and outright catcall. Almost in tears, they bent down and began to swipe the floor amidst all the jeers.

Prachi pressed her lips together to stop herself from laughing out loud. She wasn't a person to laugh at someone else's misery but she believed in tit for tat kind of treatment. Dimpy and Saina were reaping what they sowed.

"So, this was the punishment Ranbir was talking about. His revenge really is scary." Prachi mumbled with a smile.

Ranbir and Aryan had settled down in their usual seats in the cafetaria and had just began to wonder where the girls were when Prachi and Sahana sauntered into the cafe.

Both the girls stopped and looked around. Locating the boys, they headed towards them. Reaching the table, they settled down on the two remaining chairs.

"I didn't know you are this dangerous, Ranbir Kohli." Prachi raised an eyebrow.

"Why? What have I done?" Ranbir stared at her, bemused.

"How do you come up with such unique punishments?" Prachi giggled.

Ranbir laughed in response, followed by Aryan and Sahana. After the laughter subsided, Prachi looked at both the boys.

"Ranbir, Aryan, have you heard the news?" Prachi looked at them questioningly.

"What news?" Ranbir asked eagerly.

"We are going on college trip." Prachi announced excitedly.

"Wow! Really! That's totally awesome!" Ranbir grinned.

"Isn't it? I am so excited." Aryan smiled broadly.

"Me too." Sahana chirped.

Shree, as promised no cliffhanger. 😉
