Shennie POV

I don't know why Lenti has this strong effect on me, I just like the person he is when he is with me . He is a very good company. I just couldn't believe that he was really so close to me now. Even now it all feels like a dream, like I will just wake up at any moment.

The whole of the lesson after we came back from the DH was just cool. I couldn't stop myself from thinking how my school life was going to change after today. I knew that everything was not going to be the same. There was going to be so much rumours and jealousy around the school but I wouldn't care less as long as I am still Lenti's friend. We came back to class and we did English and Math. Now I knew that we were back to school for real and I had to work really hard to get where I wanted to be. I heard the siren rang and It was time to go home. School starts at 7am and ends at 3pm. I really wanted to see Lenti but I would seem too forward if I went to his class so I stopped myself from going there. My conscience was telling me to go but my mind was telling me not to . As confused as I was Vee snapped me out of it.

Violet: Earth to Arti!! (She said narrowing her eyes.)

Me: What, I'm here. (I said narrowing my eyes too.)

Violet: Don't act dumb with me now Shennie, what were you thinking about ? (She said with so much authority in her voice.)

Me: If you do that I won't tell you anything Vee, you know I don't like it when you act like that. (I said packing my bag and she was packing hers too.)

Violet: Ok, Arti my best friend and my star collection, my only twinny please can you tell me what's bothering you . (She said blinking so innocently and pouting her lips.)

Me: Oh! Jesus, you are really impossible Vee. This is pure emotional blackmailing. (I said trying so hard not to laugh. She can be a drama queen sometimes.)

Violet: You know better than to hide anything from me you know. I am your twinny which means I can read right through your eyes. Do I have to tell you what you are thinking or you are going to do it yourself. (She really meant that and I knew that she knows exactly what I was thinking about.)

Me: Tell me Miss Mind Reader. (I said sarcastically)

Violet: Ok Miss Lover Girl, you are thinking if you should go to see Lenti or not. Your heart wants to say goodbye to him before he goes home. (She said doing crazy gestures with her hands. Geez this crazy better half of mine knows me too much.)

Me: Well I hate to say this but, actually you are 100% correct, I really want to say bye. (I said putting my bag at my back and Vee did the same.)

Violet: Then why not Arti, lets go. (She said dragging me out of the classroom and we walked along a passage which led to Lenti's class.)

Me: No! Don't do this please Vee, it will seem as if I'm too forward. (I said trying so hard to get off her grip, then all of a sudden we saw Lenti and Wilson walking towards us . It seemed as if they were also coming to our class.)

Violet: Oh wow we were just coming to your class. (She said with a broad grin. Damn, did anyone ask where we were going? I swear Vee was going to be the end of me one day. This is already embarrassing and she is adding the fuel to the fire.)

Me: Actually she meant to say "I" not "we". Right Vee? (I gave her a dead stare.)

Violet: Oh yes, Shennie was just accompanying me. (She said with excessive swallowing.)

Wilson: Woa, woa . We came to say bye only. (Grimacing)

Lenti: Yes Shennie we came to say bye.

Me: That's really great. See you tomorrow then. (I said blushing. I don't even know why I was this shy all of the sudden.)

Violet: Hey guys don't be such bores, let's just walk together, it's not like we have different exits we all are going to the same direction. (Vee is really impossible sometimes.)

Lenti: Oh, ok, I guess I will have to wait for my mom outside the gate then. Let's bounce. (We walked downstairs since seniors' classrooms were upstairs. We then reached the first floor, we walked past the car park and exited the school yard.)

Wilson: So your driver is going to get you today? (Talking to Vee.)

Violet: Yes, of course and you your so called step-mother. (She rolled her eyes, she is really insensible sometimes. Did she really have to bring up that.)

Wilson was kinda our friend at school since most of the duties we had at school we worked together. So we knew a bit about him, we would talk about our families and one day he told us about himself. He said that his mother passed away when he was only 5 years old and after some months his father took in a second wife. As children we all think that step-mothers are bad people but not all of them are. Wilson told us that his stepmom is not that bad as we see in cartoons or movies but Violet never bought that. I don't know what she wants Wilson to do to prove that to her.

Wilson: Don't say that Violet you know she is very nice and she is not like all what you see on tv. (He said that with so much love, which was so evident how much he likes her. But as far as I know Vee, stepmothers will always be evil in her case.)

Me: You should learn to accept that not all stepmothers are bad Vee. Not all people are stone hearted. (I said trying to atleast convince her and all she did was to just nod at me.)

Lenti: Yes, Violet not all of them are bad.

Wilson: Oh, and here she is. (He said pointing at a silver hilux.)

Violet: See you then. (She said giving Wil a handshake. We all then said our goodbyes to him and they drove off.)

Lenti: Who picks you up Shennie?

Me: Oh actually I go to my father's work place and wait for him to finish work then we go home. (I said smiling)

Violet: Yea, yea .She refused for her dad to get a driver for her and now she walks all the way to her father's company MXM. (She said with a rigid expression)

Me: It's not like that Vee and its not even that far it's only a hundred feet away I guess. You know how much I hate being driven by someone I don't know and by anyone who is not my father for that matter.

Violet: But still Vee, how long will you do this huh? You ain't getting any younger, you have to just let go of that fear inside you. (Oh not another lecture from Vee, please God help me.)

You might think that I am just a spoiled brat but no I have my own reasons for not wanting anyone to drive me except for my dad.

*Flash Back*

"Somebody help me", !!! That was the little me screaming my lungs out.
I was only 7 doing my 2nd grade when this terrible thing happened to me. As innocent as I was standing outside the immense gates of Maranatha, waiting for my driver to come and pick me up. A blue benz that looked exactly like ours came to take me home but the driver was not the same as usual. A man with an immaculately trimmed mustache and beard came out wearing a black suit, wearing black shades, looking all great came out of the car and came to me. He had this strange aura that made me shiver a little. His looks screamed danger to me.

Him: Hie Arti your mommy sent me here to get you home, I am your sister's driver she said that your driver is sick so she sent me here. (I didn't know Cherry's driver at all. But I don't know why but my heart kept telling me that he was lying.)

Me: Hey Mr, how do I know that you are not lying to me. (I was also clever at that age.)

Him: See right there (he pointed at our blue car.) You see that's your mother's car right ?

Me: Yes, but I don't trust you sir please can you call my mommy for me? (I said so innocently and sweetly)

Him: I don't have a phone here dear it's in the car. Let's go get it. (He said trying so hard to persuade me but I wasn't giving in.)

Me: No! Bring it here, I won't go anywhere with you! (His face changed instantly and he was grinding his teeth, frowning and his face turned red. I was now scared and fear was written all over my face.)

Him: Hey! I've been kind to you for so long now but not anymore baby doll! (He showed me a knife that was in his pocket and I started to shiver and sweat was all over my palms.)

Me: Please don't do this. Help!!! (I screamed but everyone was now far away, all my friends had gone home already and the teachers were in a meeting, I couldn't call for anyone. I was caught between the devil himself and the deep blue see.)

Him: If you try that one more time I swear I will kill you!! (Oh! My world I was too young to die. From the beggining I knew that this man was not to be trusted. I ran away from him and he caught me. He was really big after all.)

Me: Please let me go!!! I swear I won't tell anyone. I want my mommy!! (I said screaming and crying so much. What did he want from me? What have I ever done to deserve all this.)

Him: If you want to go unharmed then cooperate with me ok. (I just nodded my head with tears uncontrollably flowing like rivers on my cheeks down my neck and then to my shirt.)

Me: I will do as you say, please just get me to my mommy please sir. (I pleaded with him so much.)

Him: Ok I will get you there but I need you to keep that small mouth of yours closed, you hear me!!! (He shouted at me and I almost peed in my pants.)

Me: Ye-yes. (I sobbed)

He took me to that blue benz and it was way too different from ours. This one had grey seats ours had black seats. If he wanted to fool me by bringing a car that looks like ours then he was gravely mistaken but now I was stuck. He put me at the back seat of the car and he drove off going to some place I don't know. Was I being kidnapped?? The thought of being kidnapped ran through my mind and I knew I had to do something asap, but what could help? We arrived at this deserted area with long grasses all over and an abandoned old building I guess. He didn't tie me up because he thought that I am too small to do anything and I took that as an advantage. When we entered in that old house he went to talk to some other gangs of his and my eyes landed on a phone that was on the flow. I picked it up and dialed dad's number. When it was ringing I felt a very hot slap landing on my left cheek and I fell down. That man took the phone and he started to shout at me, swearing and beating me up. I screamed and screamed but he just turned a deaf ear on me. "Mommy",!!! That's how I screamed but as heartless as he was he left me covered in blood and bruised. What kind of a monster could do this to a 7 year old?

I was laying on the floor unconsious and I noticed that this man had a dragon tatoo on his left arm and then I blacked out. When I woke up the next morning, I heard beep sounds and I knew I was in the hospital. Never ever in my life have I ever been in a hospital bed, but because of that terrible man I had to bare the sound and horrible smell of a hospital. When I opened my eyes I saw my mom crying so much and when she saw that I was awake, she hugged me so passionately and warmly. It all turned out that, that man was a dangerous man who always adapt kids and demand for a ransom of money to return them. He first searched for the kid' s background and more. I was not the first victim. I was physically, emotionally and mentally hurt by all this and I spent 2 months going to a therapist that my mom had organised for me and after some months I got over the shock of this whole scene but I promised myself that one day I will bring down this criminal. He can't just get away with disturbing my mental health and making my family worry so much. I won't let him live and tell the tale. Ever since this incident took place I never allowed any drivers to come and pick me up at school, I just trust my father and that's it.

*Back to our day*

Me: Vee don't start with me now, I am going. (All those bad things that happened to me came flashing back at me and I found myself in Lenti's arms. OMG, I was crying and he was trying to console me.)

Violet: Arti I'm sorry for bringing that topic, I thought you were over it. (She said with so much sincerity in her voice and I wasn't even mad at her she didn't have to apologise at all.)

Lenti: I don't know why you are crying right now but just know that I am here for you and I will always be. (He said hugging me tighter and I felt my safe haven right with him.)

Me: Promise. (I said wiping my tears.)

Lenti: I promise. (He said giving me an assuring smile.)

Me: Thank you, and Vee it's not your fault you just said what you think its not a big deal. Im just being a cry baby. (I said trying so hard to smile and wiping my tears away.)

Violet: I love you twinny. (She then pulled me for a hug and I hugged her back.)

Violet's driver came and she went home. Lenti and I finally said our goodbyes and I went to dad's company. I found him in his office doing some paper work and I screamed, "papa", running to him and I hugged him. He then ordered food for me as always and I ate writing my homework. We then went back home and the drive home was great. I was now looking forward to my next day at school with Lenti.

Lanton POV

After we came back from the DH I was thinking about Shennie all the way and in the class too. I was really whipped. Anyways the bell rang and school was out now. Wilson and I went to Shennie's class to say bye to the girls and luckily we met them halfway. Shennie looked very shy, am I the reason for that? She was never the shy type before. anyways we then went outside the school and there were different type of luxurios and expensive cars out side the school gate.

The pupils here live in clover, it was crystal clear. Wilson was the first one to go and I was left with these two. I don't know why Shennie cried when Violet mentioned about getting her a driver. What was the fear that she had with that?? Was she once in an accident because of reckless drivers? I just thought to myself. I really wanted to ask what's the story behind but I just knew that it wasn't the right time so I just tried to comfort her with a tight hug. After all that Violet's driver came and she went home. I was left with Shennie now.

Me: You owe me a story

Shennie: What story now ?

Me: The story behind you not wanting any driver besides your dad.

Shennie: Oh that. (She seemed sad about the topic but I really needed to know why.)

Me: Yes, so I owe you a story and you owe me too. (I said trying to make it easy for her.)

Shennie: Ok, its a deal then. (She said extending her hand for a hand shake.)

Me: Deal. (I shook her hand then we said our goodbyes and I saw my moms car just exiting the gate.)

Mom: Why didn't you tell me that you will wait for me outside Lenti. (She said while I was getting inside.)

Me: Sorry mom it slipped my mind but everyday you will see me outside.

We then drove off and we arrived at home. Grandpa was outside reading a magazine. He really loves reading. We greeted him and then went inside. I went in my room and looked myself in the mirror and the mirror was smiling at me with so much happiness. I just knew that Shennie is the reason for this uncontrollably fond happiness. I just pray that we will never separate again.

The next morning, I woke up to a sound of an irritating alarm and I went straight to shower. I took a shower and lotioned myself. I wore my uniform and I must say this uniform looks like it was made only for me. The way how it fitted me you could swear that I was born wearing it. I grabbed my blue school bag and ran down stairs. I found my mom having breakfast already and I joined her. She told me about her first day and I also told her about my first day. We then brushed our teeth as soon as we finished eating. After we were all done we drove off.

We arrived at school and we first had the assembly. We went to our classrooms after that and I was with Bradley all this while since Wilson was up to duty. I can understand him, I was also once a head boy and the duties are really fun sometimes but really hard most of the times. The lesson started, the sir is good at his job. The lesson went like this.

Sir: So there are words that many pupils misunderstands and they might even write them wrongly. These words rhyme so they confuse a lot of pupils. Firstly we have whole, hole and hall. (He said writing on a white board.) You hear right the pronunciation of these words are the same but you must know how to differentiate them..........

He taught us all that and I understood everything. It was now time for lunch and we went to the DH.

Wilson: Let's sit with the girls. (I knew he meant Shennie and Violet.)

Me: Are you sure. (I said raising my eyebrows.)

Wilson: Yes, it's not a crime to sit with friends in the DH. (This is so great, after all I really wanted to see Shennie.)

Me: Hell yes dude! (We were holding our food. I had Steers that my mom bought on our way here and Wilson had bacon cheese Burger and some fresh fruits.)

We walked to the girls' usual spot. They had mixed their food you wouldn't tell who brought what at all. They were both eating apple pies, sandwich, KFC and fruits bars along with soft drinks.

Us: Hie girls. (We said sitting down.)

Them: Hey!

Me: We just thought that we could sit with you since there is extra space. (I said looking at Shennie.)

Shennie: No problem at all.

Violet: Lets share foods.

Shennie: But it will be unfair since we were already halfway. (She said tapping Violet's shoulder.)

Me: It's no big deal let's eat. (I said placing my food at the centre of the table.)

Wilson: Yes, it's more fun to eat with many people. (He said placing his food at the centre too.)

Shennie: If you say so.

We then ate and we were talking about random things. We laughed and it was so much fun until some girls came to us. They looked really mean. We then just looked at them, with that "what do you want look".

Girl 1: You are laughing a little too loud and you are disturbing others. (Shennie and Violet just laughed at that.)

Violet: Oh, I think that people are starting to lose their memory at this school. (She said looking at Shennie rubbing her nose.)

Shennie; Yes, Vee. Let me deal with this. (She said standing up.)

Girl 2: You think you can scare us! (She said with her nose in the air.)

Shennie: Oh, who said about scaring anyone Chantel, I just want to ask you this one question. Who is the head girl of this school. (She said adjusting her blazer and she pointed at her badge with so much sarcasim. She was really good at this.)

Girl 3: Don't think that just because you are the head girl you can walk over us like that and steal our guy. (She said looking at me, WTF, when was I anyone's guy. So this is where their real issue was.)

Wilson: Really now. First you wanted me to be your friend and now you want him. Wow, bravo. (He said clapping his hands with downturned lips.)

Violet: Leave these scams they ain't worth it Arti.

Shennie: No Vee let me make one thing straight with these nasty girls so that they won't ever do this again. (She said looking at Violet then back at these girls.)

Violet: Ok. (She said raising her hands up in the air as a sign of surrendering.)

Shennies: It seems as if you didn't hear me clearly the last time. I want you to stay away from my business. Don't force me to use my power in the wrong way. I can get you expelled from this school with just a blink of an eye. I simply advice you to stay away from me and my friends. You used to bully me back then but not anymore. Get that into your thick skulls. Right now you have reached my last nerve and I won't tolerate no such nonsense again. You cannot just come here with your flat ass and claim Lenti. He is my best friend and for your own information he doesn't like nasty and scams like you. You better stay away and back off!! (Wow, I'm speechless right now. Shennie can put people in their place. I can't get over the ", he is my best friend part". That's really great, I was just smiling like a retard.)

Girl 2: Is that a threat. (She said looking at Shennie.)

Shennie: It's a warning. (She said pressing her lips firmly together. Wow!)

Violet: Yea!! That's my twinny. You pushed the wrong button you dirty sluts! (Some pupils were now looking at us with confusion written all over them.)

Girl 1: Let's go girls. (She said with a puffy face and the others jaws had just dropped. Then they walked away.)

Violet: Yea ! That's my twinny!! (She screamed hugging Shennie so tightly.)

Wilson: Wow, you managed to do what I couldn't do for years. That was so great Shennie. (He was so happy. I was kinda confused but I just knew that these girls were put in their place.)

Me: Wow, that was so brave. (I don't know why but she really impressed me.)

Shennie: MXM, these ninnyhammers have been in my case for too long now. I just had to do that. (As she was saying the bell rang and we parted ways.)

I've never seen Shennie so serious and angry but I must say she looked cute even in that state. She just triggered some feeling in me, I can't tell how I really felt. So now we were in the lesson and it was good. The bell to go home rang and Wilson, Bradly and I went to Shennie's classroom. We met them exactly where we met them yesterday.

Us: Hey. (We said hand shaking them.)

Them: Hello.

Me: Hello Mike Tyson. (I said teasing Shennie.)

Shennie: Haha ! Funny. (She rolled her eyes.)

Me: Lets go. (We walked away laughing)

When we were outside the school yard, Violet's driver and Wilson's stepmother were already outside. We said our goodbyes to them and it was only me and Shennie now.

Me: So my mom told me that today she will be a bit late since she have plenty of books to mark so I can escort you half way if you want. (I said hesitantly.)

Shennie: I would love that. (She smiled at me and I just smiled back.)

Me: Nice let's go. (We started walking a narrow path on the side of the tar road.)

Shennie: I think now is the perfect time you tell me your long story. (She said with a raised eye brow.)

Me: Ok, better late than never of course. So when I went back home that day..........

I told her everything from when I left and till I am here now with her. She was so emotional about the whole thing and she almost cried when I told her that I left my school and special position just to be with her.

Shennie: And here I was thinking that you forgot about me. Im so selfish. (She tear escaped her eye and I just pulled her for an embrace.)

Me: You are not selfish Shennie, don't ever say that okay? (She noded wiping her tears.)

Shennie: You are so great Lenti and you deserve the best friend trophy of the year. (She can be sarcastic sometime. We just laughed and that's when I realized that we were a bit far from school.)

Me: Oh! Darn my mom must be already waiting for me now. I gotta go Shennie.

Shennie: I am already here. (She said pointing at a colossal sky scrapper written The Zhloy Investors. So this is her father's company. They must be really in clover.)

Me: You cheated me, I said half way and now this. (I pouted my lips.)

Shennie: No I didn't, you are the one who just kept on walking. But anyways its not even far. (Actually she was right, it was not even tiring.)

Me: Yea, I hope I don't get lost. (I said walking away.)

Shennie: You will be the headlines in town.(She laughed at me and I ended up laughing too. She is too good, I tell you.)

Me: I will get you tomorrow!! (I shouted and then I started walking fast.)

Shennie: Just keep it straight!!! (She shouted and I clearly head her and I raised my hand to her.)

I found my mom just driving out of the gate, I took a deep sigh. I was safe. I got in the car and we drove off.
